Can ASIC miners like AVALON ASIC mine any SHA-256 crypto?  For example DevCoin, Tiger Coin Terra Coin, PPC, and if so which ALT coin do you think is most profitable?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Senator asks U.S. to ban Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on: February 27, 2014, 05:41:16 PM
Leave it to West Virginia to be afraid of change.  It's a sad fact of reality that people are always afraid of what they don't fully understand.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What does bitcoin need? on: February 26, 2014, 03:22:35 PM
So I have been been following the story of bitcoin for little over a year now and I've come to the realization that I just want to see bitcoin grow as a currency and I'll do whatever it takes to help it realize that dream.

Now the question becomes how can I (as a Computer Science graduate with experience in web development and Java) create any kind of software or website that the bitcoin economy needs more of?

In short what does bitcoin need more of (from a software perspective)? or what would you like to see created for bitcoin that hasn't already been done (or not done well enough)?

5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Want to start a ASIC mining rig retailer on: April 02, 2013, 10:31:30 PM
Based on what I've learned over the past few days its looks like it would be more profitable to start a scam selling ASIC miners

I'm a 20 year old CS major and the last thing I want to do is waste my life in a cubical farm.

So I'm mining bitcoins... what else is a guy gonna do?

I'm surprised BFL didn't come out as a scam on April 1st. God can you imagine? Greatest prank ever.

I've come to the same conclusion, however what if these companies were to purchase or make their own ASIC miners?
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if Google or Yahoo was to enter the bitcoin mining world? on: March 29, 2013, 03:03:59 PM
Also another great idea!

If they preordered from BFL, it will never happen.

Good one!

If bitcoin gets big enough I believe theres a chance, but I realize this would be extremely far in the future and bitcoin would have some substantial growing to do.

These companies have extreme amounts of processin power at their hands and if they were able to use it to mine bitcoins wouldn't that basically kill the bitcoin mining scene?

*sorry if repost.
