181  Economy / Speculation / Re: I Bet Bitcoin Reaches $10k In the Next 5-7 Days! on: January 03, 2020, 01:11:32 PM
Anyone wants to take me on a bet Bitcoin price reaches $10,000+ in 5-7 days? After the bitcoin's record breaking network hash rate news come out, BTC lost $300+ (traded below $7k), then gain $500+ within hours.

I will only keep watch on this thread to know whether to continue to believe any of your predictions or just categorize it as one of them. While you might have a basis, time will tell whether its valid or not.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea untaxing Investor's Profits on: January 03, 2020, 11:21:08 AM
South Korea has confirmed that income tax cannot be levied on individual investors’ profits from crypto transactions under the current tax law. The government, however, is reviewing international trends and the approaches of major countries to crypto taxation in an effort to amend the existing Korean tax law to include cryptocurrency.

Full Source here

This is such good news for South Korean Investors being concerned and conservative on their investments for their future assets.

It could be one of the most important news thus boosting Bitcoin's price a little bit since yesterday's small drop ($6.800 ~ $7.300)

Altough it's only a temporary implementation as the government is thinking of an upcoming law to legalize it and so taxing will be imposed.

Do you think it will be good for South Korean Investors or it will make those leave as soon the law hits them?

@DreamStage this news should have a positive impact on bitcoin prices, because South Korea has a big crypto community which became inactive due to the various regulations imposed on it by their government. It’s also pertinent to note that if South Korea’s government decides to tax crypto’s income, then they’ll be compelled to accept it as a legal tender which will further fuel up bitcoin prices.

https://www.investopedia.com/news/why-south-korea-so-important-bitcoin-prices/

@the bolded is a significant part that most countries are still confused about but at the same time we have seen countries find a way around it by likening bitcoin or any profit from crypto related activities to mean commodity just like someone trading in silver or gold among others but they are not legal tender as well. The crux of the matter is whether they would be subjected to Income Tax because income tax classsification would be the reason why they might struggle with not making it legal tender but any other form of tax like Capital Gains Tax or Value Added Tax, Carbon Tax etc can be an alternative for them and they being able to still achieve their objective of revenue generation.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 will be a material year for crypto. What do you think? on: January 03, 2020, 09:11:58 AM
There is no point being all optimistic and then get your hope dashed because the reality on ground goes against every assumptions in making the prediction. Better to sound prudent by predicting low then getting disappointed with price reaching the all time high than to predict high with so much expectations and getting it punctured.

This year is going to be a challenging one for crypto for one simple reason in my opinion. Lots of countries that have announced the crypto project late last year would begin to see further implementation while other countries would join the trend. With this ongoing, I see the aggressive countries starts to clamp down on the decentralized crypto currencies that we have come to be used to and that will make it a tough period for crypto.
184  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you function in a dishonest Society? on: January 02, 2020, 03:24:06 PM
How do you function in a society where everything is going to kill you , and all you see is misdirection and lies in a society that seems to thrive on it.

How do you function in a dishonest society?

The simple way to function is because you have to live. People all over the world are selfish and one thing they have in common is to go after their own immediate and personal needs even before common goal and in most case, a lot of people are ready to to anything to ensure that their own bottom line is protected starting with being dishonest. For someone with a moral code and some lines not to cross, the best line is to ensure that you deal with people in the best possible way and satisfy your conscience the moment you do that, I think everything should be fine.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin still bigger in 2019 from all other Commodities on: January 02, 2020, 12:48:26 PM
This is a good news though. 2019 in retrospect came with lots of challenges as it applies to the crypto world with a lot of hopes dashed and all sorts of prediction and conjectures put to shame concerning the price of bitcoin. It also to a large extent was able to retain the consistent guys which is why the volatility was not seriously sharp across the year. In all it shows that in all of the investment commodities, bitcoin still maintained the top position. As we continue year 2020, there is still more to look out for and more to expect. Brace up people.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright claims , today will be the last day for Bitcoins. on: January 02, 2020, 10:33:30 AM
Hey
I have always made a point to stay away from the news related to this self obsessed fake creator of bitcoins , and even if he is the creator I don't think I would see him in a better light.
So he is claiming that bitcoins have a problem with their code (dude which software doesn't?) And that today will be the last day for bitcoins to exist, after this it will Plummet , considering he is trying to reduce the competition for the BSV , the statements are exceptionally hilarious , first of all , if there was any problem with the code trust me , he would have exposed it himself , if he knows the problem , he is not the kind of person to shut up about it .
What do you guys this of this ?

I don't know who still takes this guy serious in all of the statements that he does every now and then as it seems that even its people who care less about him do his publicity for him. Bitcoin today has grown beyond individuals except the technology behind fails, predictions of individuals would only have effect on price and nothing else.
187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Door To Door Forced Vaccinations Now Taking Place in Samoa on: January 02, 2020, 09:31:26 AM
Its unfortunate that it has gotten to the point of people being forced to get vaccinated but I still feel its largely because its the last option for them in that country to avoid an epidemic breakout. But really, I have seen people affected with polio which would have been avoided by vaccination but because their parents believes that its wrong such child was not vaccinated. Polio being just of the reasons, when I see the suffering such child was made to undergo and the amount of funds that is being committed to such vaccination projects, I would wish if they can be forced to get the child vaccinated by every means necessary in other to save the child from unending agony.
188  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Americans are lucky, they have Trump and Pelosi on: January 02, 2020, 08:58:29 AM
I think Americans are lucky, so much of their social media is consumed by the clown show between Trump and Pelosi, for years now. I think it is wonderful that a country is so well off that it can afford to focus so much time on fluffy reality show. While circus goes on, everyone still lives their lives because circus does not really effect them. In Philippines we have our own small circus but we are more focused on every day survival.

Good Luck and God Bless,
ÅÑÇ€£Å ヅ

You see every country has its own show that is currently going on in the political space while the real managers of the economy are not bothered with such which is the reason why it seems that everybody is just going about their businesses and they get to talk about what has been raging on all media platforms in the country when they get to relax, drink or have any form of get together. In the United States, what is happening is actually good for democracy from my point of view because it shows that a arm of government can be independent of the other and instances like this also shows that its can happen unlike several other countries where the executive would flagrantly go against the law and even boast about it and nothing will happen because they have the legislature in their pocket. So, let everyone enjoy the show while it lasts.
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignoring Bitcoin Power Waste and the Crackdown on Mining it is about to Bring. on: December 31, 2019, 12:33:45 PM
Well, no matter the anywhere in the world, the moment there is concentration of industries of a particular purpose with limited energy, there is bound to be the bickering that we are seeing here and it can happen anywhere and that is why there are provisions for industrial cities across the world. For companies that are concentrated, there is always a special provision from the State energy distributor to ensure that they are supplied more electricity compared to pure residential locations in the same locality.

The solution is for the mining companies come together either to disintegrate themselves from the community grid and find their own alternative source of energy or they arrange with the energy distributor to give them more power to the extent that the immediate communities would see their presence as an advantage for enjoying more stable power.
190  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com - Transactions and funds went missing on: December 31, 2019, 11:11:18 AM
It seems Ops matter has been resolved and its time for the thread to close. I was actually looking forward to read about how he was able to get hold of his balance because from his image, the 'archived' section is something that needs to be harnessed successfully to conclude that its not what led to the issue of missing balance and since OP didn't further update, it should be interpreted that the error likely came from him.

To others, while its not advisable to leave funds on a web wallet, its also good to have a better understanding of the workings of the wallet and exhaust all options to reach the customer care centre of the web wallet providers before  creating a thread which might sent panic to others who have some funds on the platform.
191  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btcbuyerseller.com is down ? on: December 31, 2019, 10:38:13 AM
Do you have funds sitting there op? Not trying to conclude anything but there's barely anything about them if you look them up. I guess that's not surprising since they seem to have started just a few months ago.

I would advise playing safe, stay away from non-established services.

And over 7 days later, the site is still down. Its gradually seems another business has gone down the drain with people resources and there won't be nothing to do about it unfortunately. For OP and anyone who have funds on that platform, its surely too late to think about pulling out because the funds are gone for sure. Next time, take your time before putting funds on any platform whatsoever.
192  Economy / Economics / Re: Your plan if no significant move on Bitcoin price along with the halving? on: December 30, 2019, 03:27:58 PM
While its good to make a plan, its even better to make solid plans on what one can control while the ones you cannot control the plan there will be on making some excess spending assuming the plan is on revenue expected to be generated from the price of bitcoin. In my own case, while I am optimistic that the price of bitcoin would rise and the impact this would be on my finances should this happen, I am not oblivious that it might not happen which would me easily amenable to the current realities and the halving would not make any difference in that plan.
193  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Uzbekistan amends law making it illegal for citizens to buy crypto-currency on: December 30, 2019, 01:01:48 PM
In what appears to be the product of action and reaction from civil unrest, the government in Uzbekistan decided to prevent its citizens from purchasing any form of cryptocurrency in the country. It also only allowed them to sell coins that records could prove legally. So that the currency not legally registered is illegal and therefore cannot be sold.

It is a reflection by President Mirziyoyev that authorized crypto-currency as a legal in 2018.

Source and Read more ----> https://xitheon.com/knowledgebase/17/Uzbekistan-amends-law-ILLEGAL-for-citizens-to-buy-crypto-currency-LEGAL-to-sell.html

This further law for me is a response to the abuse that have happened to the 'free hand' the government gave to crypto enthusiasts in 2018 and now they are looking at various ways to curtail the abuse without going the route of permanent ban or repeal of the law and then losing out entirely on the benefit inherent in the making of the law in the first base.

The take out here is simple which is there is still room to function now is to do it within the procedures laid down by the government so as not to be used as a reference point for punishment to ensure other people compliance with the law.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: A Nobel-winning economist says it’s time to kill the GDP metrics on: December 30, 2019, 09:37:19 AM
All of the economic metrics in most cases are only figures and graphs that look at the average without actually considering the impact of the people that are facing the hit as much as possible. Economic indices have been turned to tools of bragging by the political class as a justification for them to get another term in office while those who are not constraint by terms are using that as an excuse to further justify their hold on to power which is very disheartening in the 21st century unfortunately there is nothing that can be done. The same economists have propounded these theories are now going against it. Its surely going to be a long ride to change the narrative.
195  Economy / Economics / Re: UNICEF Will Give Out Bitcoin Grants via Henrietta Fore's Cryptocurrency Fund on: December 30, 2019, 09:05:01 AM
UNICEF's thinking about cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ether appears to be expanding a little bit. Instead of selling bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies they receive as contributions, Henrietta Fore and UNICEF announced that the organization will now receive donations in cryptocurrencies.
The vision is to redistribute it to help open up open-source technology projects.

“This is a new and exciting venture for UNICEF,” said Henrietta Fore, UNICEF Executive Director. “If digital economies and currencies have the potential to shape the lives of coming generations, it is important that we explore the opportunities they offer. That’s why the creation of our Cryptocurrency Fund is a significant and welcome step forward in humanitarian and development work."

This is a step in the right direction and its something that needs to be joyous about. I have known about UNICEF for a while and the understanding that I have got was that they only focus on donations from countries and not individuals but with this new line of thought coming from them, it shows they are open to a wide range of opportunities from the teeming youth population and are mindful of where the future of currency is going to. I hope this would be a project that would further announce the continual embedded advantage of crypto to the general populace.
196  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who is fooling around with btc Price? on: December 27, 2019, 04:26:22 PM
Hasn't this question been asked a few times already? Manipulation? From where did you even get that? Do you think just because a lot of traders/investors want BTC to take a bull run, it would? Stop daydreaming. BTC has been like this because of the traders' demand and the current supply in the market, simple.
There was some news/issues regarding the possibility of PlusToken actually causing the market to drop from 10k - 8k, but even if it did happen, the 7k price right now seems agreeable since it's pretty steady progress. Remember that BTC was only around 3k-4k in January, so having it exit 2019 with 7k seems a nice compromise already.
Sides, BTC can move steadily for even a year if the market dictates as such, and your desires, or no one else for that matter, could change it. Desire is simply put, a desire, it has no tangible output that could magically change the market price.

Questions like this would actually not stop simply because of the volatility of the price does not stops and since that didn't happen, people would continually look for answers to whatever is the source of the current happening. It will surprise you that should price increase to say $8,000 or down to below $7,000 several threads would still come up to know the reason. The advantage I see there is that it enable one update about the trend in the market knowing what is going on even though it might happen when you are not watching or you are sleeping. Other than that, its just schematics.
197  Economy / Economics / Re: Coming Changes Bitcoin will be backing USA dollars on: December 27, 2019, 02:57:12 PM
The gold will crash and Bitcoin will be backing Up USA dollars so USA dollar will be tokenized and each USA dollar will be backed by bitcoins.

The Bitcoin was made to be new age gold so Bitcoin never meant to be money!

Its Coming 2020 and yes that will be happening

Aside this being written off as a conspiracy theory, I see no basis for this to happen at all. The current currency we have come to value is backed by gold. Take gold away from the currency, its as worthless as anything other piece of paper. Now to say gold is out of the picture, it would be something else maybe technology, power, science or any other precious metal but not bitcoin. For one reason that bitcoin is not a physical currency that can be stored in a location to attract value by such and because it cannot be 'owned' proprietary makes it another issue of concern. Lets focus on real issue in crypto space and not wishful thinking that would lead no where.
198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is in mind of those, who against vaccination? on: December 27, 2019, 01:36:33 PM
For me, I think vaccination should be a decision for oneself. An adult should make a decision while child should be vaccinated by default up until when he can make a decision as to whether he wants to continue or not. For someone who have lived or know someone who has been plagued by polio would know that vaccination is a serious issue that children or parents be given the option to opt out from that kind of treatment because its simply a way to excuse the life of unending pain.
199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Caribbean Pirates had a Better System of Government on: December 27, 2019, 08:28:22 AM
I would disagree with that form of government simply because nothing legal can never come out of an illegal activity. For the fact that they steal and rob other people of their resources is a reason to discard whatever form of governance that they are practicing no matter how noble. Sometimes, these people would resort to kidnapping which in most cases would lead to death of innocent souls in a case of  rescue attempts among other things. Another factor is the crude punishment which in most times is fast, rapid and is always led to death or permanent disability without giving room for any form of appeals.
200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Another terrorist kills people in London on: December 23, 2019, 03:07:59 PM
Its unfortunate that in the 21st century some people still believes that the way to settle a score irrespective of the reason and the annoying thing is the innocent person who does not care about what the government or the political class are doing will be the victim of such hate crime. Yes some people might want to give it a religious coloration which makes it further irritating to me because a lot of perpetrators of these forgot the fact that they were human first before they knew whether they would follow a particular religion or the other.
