121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TRULY Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 on: March 21, 2017, 10:18:33 PM

The GDDR5 specs refer to tRRDL (same bank group) and tRRDS (different bank group or bank groups disabled).  Maybe what people are labeling tRRD is tRRDS, and some other data in the strap is tRRDL=4.
I tried reducing tRRD in SEQ_RAS_TIMING from 5 to 4, and don't see any improvement.  I should be able to get ~29Mh with fully optimized timing at 2000 mem clock, but so far I can't get much more than 27.

On Rx 470/480 I get close to 29Mh by using 1375 straps on 2000 mem clock. By comparing the mem straps you could get some hints.

Gosh, this thread is becoming hotter and hotter; If only I weren't tied to work lately. Good luck folks.

So it's time for nvidia.  1080 at 290watt of 760sols, 1070 at 130watt of 420sols. Interesting!

I'm consistently getting 420 sols at 150watts on 1070s with EWBF (as reported by nvidia-smi)

When I did my spreadsheet it looked like nvidia was the better deal for ROI on ZEC. Don't have any RADEONs to compare to, though, right now.

Nvidia is definitely better than AMD on everything, except from ETHash

I don't have NV cards, but XMR doesn't seem to be their favorite either from hashrates I saw. Am I wrong?

Great work! Any improvements about XMR in pre3?

Hi, it's allready the fastest XMR miner (at least that I found out) and it's open source, so what's the point being even faster? As everybody will be faster and you will not get more XMR.

While on ZEC, the faster miners are closed source with devfee, that's why Zawawa's miner is awaited.
You're not right. Fastest XMR miner at this moment is Claymore CryptoNote 9.7.
Even with 2% fee it gives about 5-10% more speed on 280X.

on my 290x GG is 15% faster, on my RX470 not much faster but it's faster.

Hi,
tested pr3 on RX 470 4G: 240H/S (1230/2025, moded bios,)

hi, i've decided to take the plunge and have a go. i have two msi gaming 290x's under water. i can not find any modded bios roms for these? can anyone help? they both have hynix memory

set 1250 strap, and clock memory 1500.

Stilt's bios for ref 290x works with this card.
I flashed MBA_C6710101-100_K2_AGR_STILTMXT_V46.zip

I got better hashrate with XMR and ZEC, but  ETH mines poorly with this bios.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gateless Gate: zawawa's open-source ZEC/ETH/XMR/PASC miner (453 sol/s on 7990) on: February 28, 2017, 09:11:23 PM
well... its confirmed...
in current implementation of cryptonite samsung with 1625 straps give better hash at 1750 than 2000.
And now my question, once again to the algo devs: wtf? Smiley

For my 470 Samsung cards, I loosen the 1625 strap just a bit and run mem @ 2060-2080mhz, which allows me to get good XMR and ETH rates.   Its unfortunate there is no silver bullet, because ETH wants one thing, and XMR another, and ZEC yet another.    So I've decided to just keep my core clocks lower and run XMR when its warm outside.

Also... 470 Hynix can do 750 XMR with 1375 strap @ 1780-1800mhz... but that makes it useless for ETH.   But if you are setting up XMR rigs, and want lowest power option, that might be a good option.

470 hynix does 820 here with 1375 straps and higher mem freq.

I converted my zecs to xmr before it raised...I'm now gaining more just watching the price rather than mining :-D
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 18, 2016, 08:59:12 AM
intensity 1000 / worksize 8.

And Wolfs XMR is more dependant to GPU clock.

I don't get same hashrate than claymore's, but if you substract devfee and consumption economy, wolf's is better.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 17, 2016, 10:10:35 PM
It's a pity you don't update this miner, it's rock stable and low consumption. Ilove it and stil use it.

Hello all,

I am finally back online for good after my move. It's good timing that this coincides with learning that I won the $10k Zcash miner challenge prize, as it can justify to the wife that the time I spent working on it so far was worth it Smiley

I am now working on optimizations that will bring SA to the performance level of Claymore & Optiminer. In fact I spent a few hours on this already over the past week or so, but more work is needed.

zawawa: good luck with your fork! I hope you too can achieve good performance. We need more open source alternatives. (But please don't call your fork "SILENTARMY v6" as I am going to release that.)

welcome back.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 29, 2016, 09:41:40 AM
yup even more impressive you can set the power limit down around -30 and still get around 260 h/s with i-4 and watage is down to around 120-130 watts
r9 nano and fury's in general are the undisputed kings of ZEC mining. Th00ber and Other fury experts tipped me off to this.

Let's see how long the ZEC price stays at this level.

Remeber too that eth price is depressed right now, it could shoot back up to 12 at any news then all the hash runs back to eth , either way miners win

Or It could continue to slide downhill... the curve is not really nice this times.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 26, 2016, 08:45:34 PM
Ok, so it looks like everyone else is getting approximately the same hashrate difference for R9 390 vs. RX 480. I get 260 H/s and 190 H/s respectively with mine (both 8 GB). So my question is, is it expected that the 480 hashrate is only 73% of the 390? Is it because of the lower power consumption on the 480? With every other miner/currency so far, my 480s hash at about the same rate as my 390s. Is this something new with v8.0?

No it is not. It is because 290/ 390(x) are high end cards vs 470 low-mid/ 480 mid level, amd has not released that high performance gpu yet.

470/ 480 owners were lucky to enjoy hig end hashing rates at one algo with some bios modding. Today ancient 290 hashes more than 470/ 480 with the same or better hash/ watt ratio, better get used to it.

ps. what where those every other currencies where 480 matched 390?

While R9 serie has better hash, I don't quite agree about the hash/watt ratio. My RX 470 has better hash ratio than my 290x and the R9 is undervolted, not the the RX.

@ lexele
i got msi 290x twin frozr gaming core 1100, memory 1500 ..stable at  ~230 H/s
maybe you have to increase the power limit in msi afterburner mine is at +15

Is this with stock bios?
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked Modified Memory Strap BIOS Database for ZEC MINING! on: November 22, 2016, 10:39:45 AM
See the main Claymore thread, there are a few individuals there with your GPU and see what they get. With V7 BIOS mods do little.

I think I will let it be like that, it's running cool enough to fit in a case and that's the major point. Because I plan to put it in an office with free electricity :-)

Thanks for trying to help.

Hi there,

I got myself a cheap MSI 290x twin frozr (gaming 4G). I get a good 210 S/s from stock bios. Can anyone tell if modded timings would improve that?

I was not able to find a suitable bios for now (I didn't want to play with bios that's not from the same model, but if someone has tried it before why not)..

Try OC your card to 1100/1450

Thanks, but Not sure about that, The few OC I tried gave me more watts and less S/s :

1100 core worked with no improvement. For memory I did not get as high as 1450 for now. 1300 memclock crashed but it was undervolted.

At stock I can get power draw pretty reasonable with -100mV, that's why I would ratther play with memory timings than overclocking. But I give it a go.

As I expected 1450 memclock crashed right away. And I don't want to overvolt. It's hot enough in there ;-)

my two rx 470 were mining same speed with v6, now on v7 it's one at 162 and the other at 152 (almost not improved)...
