I've sort of seen both aituations along the years I've spent here. Having a dedicated ANN can be benefitial so that people can find all the information on a single place, BUT sharing some articles as individual threads so that some discussion about the contents of it.
Worse and most probably case, both will get 0 interactions and will eventually die off. Not really sure there can be a single guideline here

Maybe I got wrong impression, but I think that mods are more reluctant to delete topics that have more replies and that might be the case here.
They could always lock it. The particular post that has been brought here doesn't really have that many replies, and had I found it on patrol when it was made, I'd most likely have reported it too for beeing a simple repetition of what has already been said thousands of times. I however don't get why this one was marked as bad, since it could have simply gone unhandled till eternity (as not a low number of reports do). I do see that the thread is now on another section (bitcoin discussion), and we all know what goes on on that particular section concerning spam...

Hey guys, would you think creating some sort of "translator blacklist" would be a good idea? It'd be hosted here at the reputation board, and I have some sort of idea on how to develop it. Problem is, end of the day most of these translators simply work for shitprojects, so it could be a total waste of time
Let me know what you think of it

Back when I did the reporting wave on one single translator, I did get in touch with the managers. I'll quote the replies, to see what kind of reply you can expect (if any). Hello.
Thank you for your feedback. Our team is investigating your thread. We will inform you as soon as possible. Thank you for being helpful.
Best regards.
Good night gentlemen, I'd like you to read the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5295628It does concer both of you as campaign managers, since this user has been cheating using machine translation tools. At the end of the post, you'll see that I'd also like to know why no proofreading/validation measure has been taken. I sincerely hope that the explanations you provide are convincing enough for the members of the forum. I apologize beforehand if I'm sounding too harsh, but I've made around 200 reports of these kind of translations from him in the last couple of hours, so understand that I'm angry; mostly because there was no control about the quality of the content. Kind regards and be safe Csm Hi, Proofreading is simply not possible as the bounty takes place on the forum. Proofreading would require extreme good faith from another member of the local board to not downplay the work of the translator to take his place, or otherwise friendships that would work to proofread each other works bad or good. I know because I've been a french translator for a long time, these things can't be verified. As far as pedrillo, he's been working for amazix for years in the past, that's because of his reputation that I chose him. Now like Halab said, I give him the benefit of the doubt unless the results of his translation includes obvious mistakes you only find in automated translation tools. Regards. Investigation that will never happen, or a simple "we can't check everything" will suffice... I know I've made some noise in the past and present about this issue, but it's good to see that more members are getting involved in this from different countries

I've created a few threads about similar situations [1]; so there's really not many answers. If you do have a local mod that speaks italian, you could simply report every post you see that has been translated this way saying that it was in fact translated by a machine. You could also contact the manager and tell him what happen, although he'll most likely just put up an excuse. You could red-tag him in this case, it will for sure catch his attention and at least for me, it'd be a justified one. You could also red-tag the translator, but he won't care much about it. TLDR, reporting is your best option here

Thought it was that way... Still, I made the post to use as a reference for the report, and so that mprep can take that into account for his bot, if that's still a thing. Even if it only works on newbies, I don't know what we'd do without mindlesselectron... (I do, I remember at least one time it was down and the rate I was reporting at was... savage)

Sorry to bring more bad news, but I've found the following spammer spamming this very same thingy. He is member-ranked so that's why he most likely got away with it: User: ADEMNLHas made 11 posts on 11 different languages about the same product in under 40 minutes, the GoodHash whatever the hell that is. He did also post a few other threads about this last week. ( Ninjasticspace) Going to report this and ask for a GM on the report; @mprep , this may be a good new thing to add to the potential spam bot I've read about in the past (in case you read this).

I said this the other day regarding another discussion here on Meta, but I believe it can either be relevant to this, or get cleared once and for all (so that I have a reference when reporting): One person you mentioned in your other thread is pedrillo0. This person's most recent post is in a thread that he created. The thread has a total of 68 posts, all of which are written by him. The issue of using automated translation tools aside, making this many consecutive posts is obviously not acceptable. This person can write the OP, and any reserved posts, he can subsequently bump his thread by giving an update/news, but if no one posts in his thread after he writes the update/news, if he wants to post in his thread again, he needs to remove his previous post with an update/news, and if desired, he can consolidate the information into a single new post. I've actually had talks in the past with a few mods about this (not focusing on this particular user) and it's entirely up to the mod. A thread made of 10+ pages of just updates CAN be considered spam, but since every post is an update and is usually separated by 24+ hours, it does not count as a "bump" or multipost. Fine print sucks. I'll go a bit further and add a few more "local" (since they are local-board based) examples Example 1 (last 3 updates are from today; so <24h between updates) Example 2 (>24h separation between updates) Example 3 (thank god this stopped being updated) PS: sorry, my intention is not to highjack the thread . I'd love to see an "official" answer here as a future refence
