This is either a really good thing or a bad thing.

Its a bad thing if it was a hack/scam that caused it.

Its a good thing if the equivalent of $7.5M was legitimately transferred in a single block.

I am running a Windows 8 64 Bit laptop and no issues not entirely due to my own stupidity have occurred.

1164  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoind Negative Balance on: April 01, 2013, 07:31:13 PM
So, I set up a quick server running bitcoind. It has been running normally for a while, transferring between accounts within the system, as well as sending btc from the server to remote addresses, which is of course wonderful.

In any case, I tried to send a btc payment from the account "A" to a remote address from the server. The following transactions were done, from a starting balance of 0.01.

-0.0005 BTC -> Internal Account B
-0.0005 BTC -> Internal Account C
+0.0005 BTC <- Internal Account C
-0.0001 BTC -> Internal Account B
-1.0E-6 BTC -> Internal Account B
-0.001 BTC -> Outside of the system
-0.007899 BTC -> Outside of the system

Now the balance of Account A reads "-0.0005 BTC"

How is this possible? Account B now has 0.00060100 BTC.

Ok. You are forgetting about the fact the in between Me and Satoshi we have 3.5 Million BTC.

Swell.

1) How does that matter in the slightest, it just makes you even dumber from undermining something you so obviously have a good investment in and
2) Obviously you are trolling. Well. Unless Satoshi owns like 3.4999999 million of that.

Bytecoin is a fresh start, this time everybody will be able to participate, fairly, from the beginning.
Everybody already could participate fairly from the beginning. The difference? They didn't, because they CHOSE not to, or because they weren't EDUCATED enough to know that they should. Sort of like me, and notably, you. The difference is that unlike you, I am willing to accept that there were people smarter/luckier than I that recognized/guessed that BTC was going to be a success and got in when they could, and thus deservedly made a lot of money. You on the other hand, aren't.

It seems pretty obvious to me that actions like this are undermining the value of BTC, or at least, have the potential to.

Ask yourself this: What advantage does this have over BTC?

The answer is, of course, none. The advantage BTC has over this is that BTC was created first, which means it has had more time to be adopted, which means, unless somebody can create something actually SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER, it is the cryptocurrency everybody should be supporting.

Rather than trying to pass off your own cryptocurrency, essentially attempting to print more BTC, and make a few bucks if you are lucky and in the process undermine the public's view of cryptocurrencies in general, you might try to make a few bucks by buying BTC and supporting it in general. At least that way you can claim to be doing something constructive.

So I'm in Electrum. I want to send a small amount to 1t4v2HfVwWNEDUV116zV8W1dmLmnJ3Cww for a test. I keep on getting an error along the lines of 'you need to pay a bigger fee' (which made no sense, on my previous client this wasn't happening from what I recall). In any case, I end up paying a fee and sending the payment. My Electrum now shows "79584e3b513a088959a7e5cf44ee678f70e3da05c24c646572603a1e8a632e5f" with -0.0012 unconfirmed. (0.0002 was the fee). Now, I go onto blockchain.info, and enter that in. I see a transaction to "1J2qpiJiF2HWUaJxndwJBdAGz2QQixq4Zr" for the amount of "0.6400656", which is the remainder of my account balance in Electrum? What? Where did that address come from!

Can somebody explain to me what is going on here? Was I somehow hacked, did I mess up epicly, or is this somehow to be expected and the address 1J2qpiJiF2HWUaJxndwJBdAGz2QQixq4Zr will get the BTC back to me?
