Running bot armies is definitely on my radar. Just over a week ago I experimented with a couple of armies to watch their behavior and gain some more information. A nice add on gui to control them would have been nice, but instead I can use the chat to change their behavior and direction. Of course using the correct commander name and command format is necessary.

Any plans on releasing a public version? Wink

Any chance of keeping it private, but selling for HUC Wink!

Yes! That! And just to BayAreaCoins and me! Cheesy (Well... maybe Snailbrain and a few others... but...) Grin

To tell the truth, I like a lot of what BGB has done so far. Those that understand what he has done will understand why I appreciate it.

Of course you appreciate it, and i know why, but which part of "human mining" don't you understand?

Hehe! Which part don't YOU understand? Wink

You are already using software to control "hunters".

Could you use bot software to control "armies"? Certainly! Wink

It's only a matter of the scale that the game is played at. The individual solider level, or the army level.

But ultimately, it's still humans controlling the game.

Whether or not you or I have access to the software to control a hunter or an army isn't relevant.

EDIT: I should also say that Huntercoin is first and foremost a PROTOCOL. The game is a part of that protocol. Big implications there.

Ok... a post NOT about "which chain"...

KEEPING THE CROWN

I think a lot of people noticed that the crown was being kept pretty well for a long time, and being cashed out fairly often.

The only way I can think of to do this is to get in another colour, destruct, then swoop in and snatch up the crown and coins from it. There's a risk there, but it's a calculated risk.

Does anyone have any other ideas on it?

easy bro
check the general logs, the chinamen haven't had a general hold the crown in forever
that way they can just destruct their general and the crown falls onto that square
so they pile up that square with their own players, and other members of their chinese cartel
detonate the general, they all share the crown, then the crown goes to a random person in that square (who is also part of their chinese cartel)
cash out all the guys with money, re-stack the square with the crown with more armies, rinse and repeat

But the crown holder can't destruct...

Well, instamined and raped to death. None of the pools work worth shit.

Fuck this. I'm outta here.

So, before the release, there are 2 blocks... now, with 2 minute blocks, we're over block 1200 within 30 minutes?

fusion.hashing.at hasn't found a single block, and the other 2 pools aren't online. The official pool flips on and off, but isn't up longer than a few seconds.

What's going on?

This is starting to stink.

...as per the threads i created prior to release, i stated that maybe it will become humans vs humans, bots vs humans, bots vs bots...

I was thinking about this, and I think that what will happen will evolve beyond "bots".

Basically, I see the game right now as humans playing "hunters" or running "bots". But the bots won't last long. What I predict is that the game will evolve from humans playing hunters, to humans playing "armies".

When I say "armies", I mean humans using more complex GUI interfaces to control larger numbers of hunters in a semi-automated fashion. i.e. There will be humans intelligently guiding bot armies against other humans intelligently guiding bot armies.

Purely automated bots will suffer under those conditions, and...
=---> either disappear or evolve radically...
=---> which will lead to more complex "army" software for humans to use to counter the more intelligent bots,
=---> which will lead to more intelligent bots,
=---> which will lead to more complex "army" software for humans to use to counter the more intelligent bots,
=---> which will lead to more intelligent bots...

tl;dr - Huntercoin will shift from humans controlling "hunters" to humans controlling "hunter armies".

So, for the people complaining about "bots"... Just wait. Your time is coming! Cheesy

Quote
Within 20 years, “software substitution” will dramatically reduce the demand for many types jobs, Bill Gates said Thursday at the American Enterprise Institute. It’s a gloomy prediction that he says many people, including governments, aren’t prepared for.

Make no mistake, “software substitution” is a fancy way of saying software automation — as in “bots” and whatnot. Many of the jobs that could be eliminated are lower skill occupations.

“Software substitution, whether it’s for drivers or waiters or nurses … it’s progressing,” Gates said. “Technology over time will reduce demand for jobs, particularly at the lower end of skill set. … 20 years from now, labor demand for lots of skill sets will be substantially lower. I don’t think people have that in their mental model.”

What's interesting is that Huntercoin offers a very real, highly controlled & predictable (cryptographically secure with set rules) environment where exactly these kinds of scenarios can be explored on an abstract level.

i.e. Will my prediction of human "bot masters" become a reality for Huntercoin, and does that model extend to "software automation", and if so, how? (I would exclude maintenance from "bot master".)

keep getting 11DbException

I was getting that on the short chain before. Deleting the blockchain and resyncing got me on the longer chain, and those problems disappeared (on 2 different machines). I posted how to do that a few pages ago.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=435170.msg5709519#msg5709519

It worked for me. YMMV.

I am completely non technical and have no idea what anyone is talking about for the last 5 pages.

I bought a bunch of HUC a couple of weeks ago and keep them on qt...the name on the zip archive is "Huntercoin-1.00.05c-time-to-dest"

I have not opened my qt or done any transactions for almost a week, definitely before these apparent problems started.

Are my coins safe? once we are eventually all on one chain again will the coins still be recognised as mine and I will be able to spend them without needing to do anything different?

Thanks

1) Your coins are safe.
2) You should back up your wallet. (Check my sig for some backup software for wallets.)
3) If you are on the wrong chain, you shouldn't do anything at all. Don't send. Don't receive. Get on the right chain.

2) I have a back up from after my last transaction which was before this problem. Any need for another new back up?
3) How do I know what chain im on? How do I get on the right chain? My qt has not been open for a week so last time it synced there was only 1 chain.

BTW I do not want to make any transactions or play for the moment, I just want to know that if I do, say in 2 months, all I will have to do is open the qt and press send or if thats not the case what I have to do to make it the case.

Cheers

2) No, probably not. If you've not used the wallet for anything, then there should be no need for a new backup. However, that being said, I'm on the paranoid side, and the utility I wrote lets me back up all my wallets with 1 click, so... I tend to create backups fairly often. There's no harm in having an extra backup. There is harm in not having a recent enough backup though.
3) You'll need to open up the QT and sync to find out. Compare it against huntercoin.info (on the short chain) with what other people post here. At the moment, I'm on block 93,003.

You don't technically *need* to have a sync'd wallet to send/receive, but it's probably a good idea to do anyways. I just leave wallets open and running to keep them sync'd.

But Huntercoin is a bit different than most... For your playing wallet, you don't want it encrypted. For your non-playing "wallet" wallet, you should encrypt that. You can swap out wallets easily enough by moving the files around. Make sure to back them both up and to know which is which. My backup utility doesn't handle this particular situation automatically. You'd need to have probably 2 folders labelled something like "playwallet" and "coinwallet" and then manually add them to the list of files to back up.

A lot of "BGB" out there are fakes.

Heck, I had 1 fake BGB before! Tongue

But BGB had over 1000 teams before. Not just 400...
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Do not trade coins until this message changes on: March 15, 2014, 03:18:52 PM
yep, all we can do is guessing, i was on the longest chain too, i saved it, now im gonna try to load the wallet from scratch. Whatever will be decided half of the people get advantages half of them not... (i collected 400 coins in 6 hours....) That cant be right

Actually, that can be right. There were a lot of coins out there when BGB dropped out. He just killed off the troops & left. So, yeah - a lot of loot was left on the table.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Do not trade coins until this message changes on: March 15, 2014, 02:25:13 PM
Ok, just read the last 5 pages and know snail is working on the issue. Appreciate you looking into this, snail.

Even though I did really well on the longest chain (coins everywhere, like people said), I'm fine with picking whatever chain that is best for the coin itself going forward.

I'm currently on the longest chain still (and have been for a day now), and it seems to be working well...

That seems to be pretty common - people on the longest chain seem all smooth (from hearing people talk), while people on the other chain(s) are hosed with errors (again, from hearing people talk, and personal experience).

My guess is that the longest chain here is going to be the one that we take forward, but that's just a guess on my part.

Still blocked at 89,353, and the max block change every 2 minutes lol

That maximum number of blocks changing constantly is normal. It looks like you're on the same chain as I am, i.e. the "right" chain~! Grin  Roll Eyes
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Do not trade coins until this message changes on: March 15, 2014, 12:04:01 PM
That has worked for me on 3 different machines.

Have you got a SSD ? How time for downloading blockchain from scratch ? What is the blocknumber of your chain ? Thank you.

2 of the machines are running off of SSD, while one other is running off of a 7,200 RPM SATA drive.

Block height for the first 2 is 92,277 right now. I can't check the other machine at the moment, but I know that it is on the same blockchain, so it must be 92,277 as well.

Ooops... 92,278 now Cheesy

I haven't SSD but I sync every day my wallet, but for this block is very long. 88,221 => 88,245 : 50 Minutes ! Let's run on my computer this night...

I had it stuck in one machine. I made more space on the disk and restarted the QT. Things started moving again. It might work for you. Dunno...

To follow up on this...

It didn't work. I still got stuck.

The procedure I outlined in this post worked for me:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=435170.msg5709519#msg5709519

tl;dr - Just redownload the entire blockchain.

made trial concluded with Poloniex never received coins. (

I can confirm this. I tried to withdraw from Poloniex, and they never arrived. (Still need to contact support for those coins...)

Hmmm yep you should contact support. Poloniex is not a great exchange but it was quite reliable ...

I went back to check on it, and the transfer is "PENDING". Jokes aside... I'm going to skip contacting support for now. I figure he's probably quite busy already and will get to fixing this issue as a batch transaction. It will likely get cleared up easier if I don't contact support.

try rescan using my backup at date 02/27

after get block 72XXX error has begun

this picture proccesing block 87xxx

any advise?

I can tell you what worked for me...

1) Open the "%appdata%\huntercoin" folder. (The "datadir" or data directory.)

2) *** BACK UP YOUR WALLET.DAT AND HUNTERCOIN.CONF FILES *** (see my sig for a wallet.dat backup utility) DO NOT DELETE YOUR WALLET!

3) Move all files except for wallet.dat and huntercoin.conf to another folder. You can delete these files after you have completed all the steps here.

4) Ensure that you have the "addnode" entries in your huntercoin.conf file that are in the OP.

5) Start huntercoin-qt.exe. It will download the blockchain entirely from scratch.

6) Once the blockchain has finished downloading, you can then safely delete the files you moved in step 3.

That has worked for me on 3 different machines.

I tried the "-rescan" option several times on 2 machines -- no luck. It didn't work. It has worked in the past, but not for the kinds of errors that we're seeing now.
