I don't know if you guys have noticed, but BTC-e is now the leading exchange, both in volume and action.
I made three transfers to BTC-e using OKpay since last night. One last night - lost in transit. One this morning - arrived in my account. Another one a few minutes later - lost in transit. They've done this to me before (in November) during the rally - my deposit went missing for three days (costing me some BTC during the rise from $307 to $370) and they're doing it now. Is it possible that BTC-e selectively temporarily lose transactions during rallies and crashes? (or am I just paranoid?) To their credit - they usually find the money again within 72 hours (but they don't respond to the ticket at all before then)

Is this just a 'turn up' event? Web site seems vague.

Wow damn, trying not to panic sell. Bought 17.5 Coins at 766$ 2-3 days ago. I´m nervous to lose my 13.5k$
Rule number one on bitcoin : do not sell on weekends. I've been buying since Feb this year. My last batch at $740 may not have been the best price, but they're certainly better off in Bitcoin than my bank. The last two times I sold to buy in lower during this rally resulted in a loss - so time to switch off the computer and forget about them. I didn't lose any USD - but I did lose BTC. If you don't need the USD right now, leave them alone!

I'm not convinced of this break out, yet. Very low volume.
Me neither, just sold other 1/12 so i have sold now 1/6 avg at 608 (stamp) in this rise. Just in case, because I don't have any wealth other than coins and now little bit usd. I think it's a bit too erratic and the volume/fluctuations are just not high/low enough to worry about. I sold a few just under $600 at BTC-e to give me some $$$ to play with.

Historical highs and lows compared using rpietila's trendline:
Date Price / Trend = x% (Factor) Lows 2011-11-17 1.99 / 2.05 = 97.11% (1 / 1.03) 2012-08-19 7.58 / 13.90 = 54.52% (1 / 1.83) 2013-04-16 50.01 / 74.30 = 67.31% (1 / 1.49) 2013-07-05 65.42 / 129.59 = 50.48% (1 / 1.98) Highs 2011-06-08 31.91 / 0.67 = 4780.29% (1 * 47.80) 2012-01-05 7.22 / 2.87 = 251.38% (1 * 2.51) 2012-08-17 15.04 / 13.71 = 109.67% (1 * 1.10) 2013-04-10 266.00 / 71.22 = 373.48% (1 * 3.73) 2013-11-19 900.98 / 333.86 = 269.87% (1 * 2.70)
This looks interesting - but what does it mean?

My transaction into OKpay went smoothly.
Usually when I transfer from OKpay to BTC-e it's been instant - but today the funds have gone missing in transit. They're not in OKpay and they're not in BTC-e. Has anyone experienced this?
I've also lodged a ticket with BTC-e support - but no response as yet (3 hours)

I find this whole discussion somewhat ridiculous.
Agree

I think that a lot of people that believe in Bitcoin are just hanging fire - until they identify their perceived bottom, and then will re-invest the same amount of capital but with a larger quantity of coins purchased.

I feel as if every single person who actively understands Bitcoin, sticks with it. Well from my experience at least.
This is an excellent quote. I discovered Bitcoin by accident as a friend wanted me to transfer money to him with Bitcoin instead of Paypal to avoid the fees. Since then, I have actively been using it, buying it and spending it. I even accept it on my web site www.artgalleriesdirect.com and wish more retailers would also adopt the convenience (and security) of accepting payments in Bitcoin.

|
|
Internet is a bit general. I needed to pay someone $10 and he recommended Bitcoin because it had lower fees than Paypal.

I save Bitcoin. I spend Bitcoin. I also buy Bitcoin to spend at retailers who accept Bitcoin. BitPay have also made this easier for retailers to do now with little risk of currency fluctuations. I have also implemented their payment gateway on my site Art Galleries Direct ( www.artgalleriesdirect.com) which sells original art imported from Bali (was that a blatent plug or what?)

It is the Gox lag. Price falls more the longer the lag time.
When the lag clears up the price jumps up.
I would write a trading bot to trade based upon lag time but they will be clearing that up in a day or so.
Mtgox trading engine lag: 1017.27s Last time this happened there was a crash too. People see it drop - Panic - then sell! I am a tech-nerd and I have to say that Bitcoin is one of the greatest inventions I've ever seen! This is up there with the WWW and email and possibly even higher. With a current market cap of $2 billion - it's not even close to reaching it's true potential - That may not happen this year... but I genuinely believe that Bitcoin is has way more potential and attraction to the masses than Facebook (Market Cap: $60B.) Thats my 0.000084 cents.. er Bitcoins

Hi All, Another shop taking Bitcoin: Art Galleries Direct ( http://www.artgalleriesdirect.com) A UK based online retailer of original oil/acrylic paintings imported from Bali.

DAMN! Has anyone seen the price of BTC today? Its gone crazy!!!!
It sure has! I wish it was a bit more stable as it kinda defeats the object as a "currency" if no-one wants to spend it. On reflection, I paid $90 for $39.99 product 10 days ago - so now I'm stashing coins and paying using conventional currency

Hi there,
Catanonia aka Steve from the UK.
I have been lurking and mining for a few weeks now and only just have found the newbie section to post in.
Be gentle with me.
Hiya Steve, I've been doing that too. This seems like a friendly forum though ;-)
