1  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2023] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 01, 2024, 04:28:43 PM
Big ol' speeches should be for the people with 1st-place finishes, so I'll just say: Thanks to everyone who voted for me (really, it makes me smile), and congratulations to all the winners!!

@o_e_l_e_o: We really miss you. I hope you're happy/comfortable wherever you are. You'll be remembered fondly around here for a very long time. Cry

@icopress: Thanks for organizing this yet again, you're awesome, man! Smiley (And thanks for sending my prize to derBowler, another awesome dude.)

@GazetaBitcoin: Were you responsible for counting the votes? If so, thanks for helping icopress (seriously), but I have to ask: Were you maybe drinking on the job, friend? Too much plastic-bottled wine? Tongue (The reason I ask is that if I count the votes myself I get slightly different results than yours. Maybe I'm drinking too much, I don't know; see below.) Wink

I count 26 "Bitcointalk Ninja" votes for me (not 27): NotATether, Woodie, criptoevangelista, dkbit98, jeraldskie11, nakamura12, Charles-Tim, SatoPrincess, Husna QA, Nheer, joker_josue, Lafu, AHOYBRAUSE, julerz12, Jawhead999, m2017, Amphenomenon, TryNinja, sabotag3x, Ambatman, Foxpup, famososMuertos, LoyceV, FatFork, Potato Chips, darxiaomi.

I count 15 "Discovery of the Year" votes for me (not 14): Lillominato89, Crypto Library, 2Pizza410000BTC, Bitcoin_people, Peanutswar, wmaurik, nakamura12, hosseinimr93, nutildah, BlackHatCoiner, $crypto$, Compromise me, Coin_trader, lovesmayfamilis, GazetaBitcoin.

Hopefully, I'm just missing some detail/rule, because if the first two things I check are wrong, that usually means there'll be more mistakes if I keep looking. These two mistakes are small, and they wouldn't have affected my outcomes, but maybe a more thorough check will reveal outcome-changing mistakes for other users. (I don't have the time to do that myself, and I hate to create more work for you or anyone else, but I had to mention it.) Undecided
No prob, you deserve it.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 31, 2024, 04:38:38 PM
I honestly didn't expect Bulls to lose last night but I must admit I've been underestimate Raptors so big that I had the impression they are one of the worst teams in NBA right now but clearly they are don't and I won't ignore them any longer.

I could also say this about Jazz but this team always had swings between great and bad games...
Same. After the Siakam trade, I thought they would be like a lame team. But, they can still win games against teams like the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat or some weak teams in the league. Still, their wins are so rare which is why we underestimated them, it's all in the statistics and their losing history.

Utah Jazz on the other hand is a young team. Expect inconsistency with them. And it's not like they had been playing with each other for 5 years or more. Their chemistry is not there yet so it's difficult to tell if they will win or not.

After 2 close games against the Sacramento Kings 134-133 and LA Lakers 145-144, the Golden State Warriors finally won this time. Sadly, I didn't take a bet because I doubted them and the Philadelphia 76ers is not a team you will bet against, so I don't regret not being able to back the Warriors.

That dude is crazy, 3-point shot transition play without any hesitation. Cheesy A monster. 37 points, 8/13 in 3-point field goals, 12/17 overall field goals. Talk about high accuracy, Curry must've felt great when he woke up before the game.
Joel Embiid 14 points in 30 minutes? What happened? Out of bullets after the 70-pointer game?  Cheesy He is hurt in the last 4 minutes of the game though, I hope he is okay.
But again, Jonathan Kuminga proving his value for the team. He had been stepping up every single game and he is becoming one of the league's most entertaining players to watch. I cannot wait for their next game to see him play again.
Curry is one of the finest shooters in history, and he is presently the most dangerous 3 point shooter in the game, thus you must guard him at all times and avoid giving him an easy basket because if you don't, 3 points are almost certain. Curry missed a lot of shots in 2023, maybe because to trading players, which made it tough for him to adjust, but the most important thing is that he is progressively regaining his rhythm today. But, in my view, the Warriors are not as healthy as they were previously to win the series, and we must keep in mind that almost every team in the NBA continues to improve, so we don't know who will win the Cup.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 31, 2024, 04:14:11 PM
If a person cannot gain money from gambling, I believe he should avoid it. Gambling is a risky game, therefore when we decide to participate, we should be aware of our limitations.
When a person loses money in gambling, it drives his addiction to cover his losses; the more losses, the greater the need to gamble; as a result, instead of losing a little amount of money, they lose more.
Gambling, like trading, requires discipline because if you can't control yourself, you'll make a stupid judgment, increasing your chances of losing even more money.

5  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Best non custodial wallet on: January 05, 2024, 11:50:36 AM
May isa pa akong ginagamit which is Metamask. Pero for cash-in purposes lang, para sa akin kasi mas mura ang fees compared kung dadaan ako sa exchanger then transfer sa gamit kong wallet. Less fees, mas mabilis tapos madali pang gamitin.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is www.crypto-comx.com legit? on: January 04, 2024, 03:55:18 AM
Is www.crypto-comx.com legit? I tried to withdraw funds after 3 previous withdraws were confirmed and successful. Now that a friend transferred funds into my account on this platform, customer service rejected the last withdrawal and said I must pay a fine 2x the amount of the friends transfer so I must pay $30,972 to verify which will be in my USDT wallet and can be withdrawn once verified. It sounds like a scam but now they have my money locked to where I can't withdraw it. Anyone ever dealt with this site before or heard of this? I have reported them to the Securities and Exchange Commission to see if they can help.
Exchange only be used for exchanging your tokens, and users only pay a fee for their service. If they need more than that, other than a fee then probably it's a scam. Stay away from that kind of exchanges.

Before to use an exchange, always consider to do a research no matter how good the feature of the platform.

You can see the best and most used exchanges here in Coinmarketcap.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: December 29, 2023, 01:41:45 PM
Price is consolidating below the weekly supply zone, and it couldn't even reach the equilibrium of the zone. This only means that there are more selling pressure than buying pressure in the supply zone. If ever the Spot ETF was not approved probably the price will going to retrace and possibly reach the strong support. Well, this will not immediately happen because traders and institutions doesn't want it happen. But we have to remember that Bitcoin is no longer easy to manipulate. But I believe this time if SEC reject the approval of Spot ETF surely there will be a big dump of the price.
9  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Anung estimate price ninyo pagdating ng bitcoin halving on: December 29, 2023, 01:12:11 PM

10  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price? on: December 29, 2023, 12:46:05 PM
I am not sure if all of us are aware of not as SEC has delayed their decisions on Spot ETF application but they were supposed to take the decision by now and will this delay cause any set back in price ? People were speculating that there would be a price drop before halving and that didn't happened due to ETF as it helped increasing the value and since it's been delayed now will it cause any impact for the Bitcoin price? if yes then how much would it be and will it be that way till halving?
Someone, I believe, is behind the SEC's decision. And I'm sure most of us are aware of it. This kind of stuff is no longer new to us, they mostly make an update when the price is in the consolidation state, they use it to dictate the price where it should go. Probably the price will stay in this weekly supply zone which is around $44k to $48k, and when the SEC's decision is positive, there will be huge pump of the price and would break the $48k price, and might continue send the price higher. That time, the retracement we expect at $31k is no longer possible to happen because the sellers are no longer willing to sell.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it give fuel to skyroket for btc ? on: December 29, 2023, 10:33:28 AM
It's weird that the article tied Bitcoin price with shitcoins like ETH, XRP and Solana.
I think we should think it again if those major cryptocurrencies are good to be called as shitcoins.

Quote
In any case different countries removing bans on bitcoin would affect bitcoin positively as it would help adoption of bitcoin grow in those places. However, I don't think it will be massive enough to be referred to as "skyrocket". Many of those "bans" like in China, happened too late into Bitcoin's life so they couldn't prevent people from finding out about bitcoin. Some of them weren't even a full ban, they were shutting down exchanges for instance and it was still legal for regular people to buy bitcoin.
This means removal of the ban won't have a significant effect.
I agree with you. But if ever they lift the ban on Bitcoin right after the ATH was broken, there is a big possibility that the price will skyrocket since there is no visible resistance to be respected. If we look back at the chart of Bitcoin on the year 2020, after it surpassed the $19666 ATH, the price exploded.

12  Economy / Speculation / Something we have to consider before longing in the bullish pattern of Bitcoin on: December 29, 2023, 06:03:45 AM
While waiting for a retracement of Bitcoin for a couple of weeks now, Bitcoin was creating Ascending triangle pattern in 4h time frame which is a bullish pattern.
Pattern traders are supposedly waiting for the breakout in the upside direction before they entry for long.

But we should take care, maybe it's a trap because of these reasons:

*The bullish pattern was created in the weekly supply zone.

*RSI divergence

*Smart money are here to manipulate us.

Update: 01/04/24

The price broke the resistance and made a retracement as what we have seen in the picture below. I already have stated this possible outcome before and it happened. And since there is a clear break of structure in the upside, we can't still be sure that the price will go up higher as it's located in the strong supply zone. So possibly the price will go up higher to grab a liquidity before it goes down.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Know, But Can i Invest In Bitcoin? on: December 28, 2023, 11:18:20 PM
Hello everybody, how are you?

In this forum i am new and proud to be here as a member of this forum. Heard there is a lot of discussion about Bitcoin so I came to join here for my own needs. Hope you all will help me. I don't have a good idea about cryptocurrencies. I just know that investing in Bitcoin is extremely profitable. But I don't know how to do it. One of my acquaintance suggested me to invest some money in Bitcoin. I told him how many dollars to invest and he said as much as I am willing to invest. I made up my mind that I would invest $500 but i am confused. I don't know much about Bitcoin so the person gave me the link to this website and suggest me to know about the various opinions of users on various topics. Since I see that Bitcoin is always discussed , I want your suggestions about my Bitcoin investment.

Should I invest money with the suggestion of that guy? He told me that if I invest I will get good profit. He said, he will open my bitcoin wallet and help to buy bitcoins. Should I invest in bitcoin?
Investing Bitcoin is a good advice since you can really become profitable in the future if you invest today. But the advice should not end here because giving advice is like a patient, it should not be left after giving first aid but should be taken to the hospital to be cured. That's how we should advise others about Bitcoin, we need to guide them to invest so they know what they should watch out for and do. But one thing to remember, don't ever let them to open your wallet no matter how much you trust that person.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What we all learnt this 2023 on: December 28, 2023, 10:49:16 PM
I know I'm kinda new here to be giving out advice on this forum, nonetheless I've been on the crypto space for some years now and from my mistakes and personal experience I can say this:
Just because you're new here doesn't mean you don't know enough to offer guidance. We don't know about your experiences, and it's up to us whether or not to take your advices.

Quote
👉 Don't take popular opinions as an investment advice. If there is anything I've truly learnt from my time in this forum, is not to follow popular opinions or crypto influencers. Making reference to a trend some months ago about bitcoin price reaching an ATH of 100k this year which is obviously not going to happen because of the current price and market conditions, I guess it would take the hand of God to make that happen and we aren't even sure if we are in a bull run or not.
We should always be open to receiving advise from others, but not all advice is good advice. So, no matter how good the advise in crypto, especially in terms of investment, we should always think twice and conduct study before making a decision. There are a lot of advices out there that we think are helpful for us because they are delivered well, but they are not.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODLers, When Will You Sell? on: December 28, 2023, 10:21:33 PM
I really admire people capable of keeping bitcoins in their wallets for years without even moving them. I see wallets that their owners never moved coins from for 10 years and wonder how they do it. If you're a HODLer. when do you hope to sell? Would you cash out if Bitcoin soars to $100,000 or sit back and wait until it gets to a million?

ONLY for HODLers please. PLease share when you'll be happy to sell.
Those investors who did not move their coins in their wallet are most likely billionaires. They are unaffected if the price of Bitcoin falls back to $20,000 or $10,000. Because their investment is a little portion of their entire wealth, they can manage their emotions quite effectively. Aside from that, they are so preoccupied with other things that they don't peek at the chart from time to time, which helps prevent unwanted emotions when the price drops so drastically. There are wallets that haven't moved because the owner has passed away or just a misplaced wallet.
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diverse is your crypto portfolio? on: December 28, 2023, 09:55:14 PM
I'm not sure if we actually need to reveal how many currencies we invested in, but I believe that diversification your investment into 5 coins is sufficient. We don't need to invest in all of the market's top coins because doing so would just reduce your investment in each currency. If you have more money in the future and want to invest it, it's best to add it to the coin you're already invested in rather than investing in another coin.

Because the potential reward is so huge, several investors have invested in low marketcap coins. Investing in high marketcap coins, other than Bitcoin, can be a good idea because they carry less risk than low marketcap coins. But, regardless of market cap, we should conduct research on each coin we invest in, no matter how fantastic it appears to us.
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone can succeed as a bitcoin trader on: December 28, 2023, 09:32:04 PM
Knowing how to trade would only get you that far, but not j to the realm of successful traders. It takes a whole lot of desire to win, persistence and consistency to be a successful trader. So I assure that anyone who wants to be a successful trader can be by pursuing with passion.
I agree with you. Just because a person know how to trade doesn't mean he is profitable. There are lot of traders out there who can't manage to be profitable even though they spent a lot of time to trading. There are people who had been in trading for 5 years but still losing, but there are also 1 year but already profitable. Being successful is not about how long you have been in trading, instead it's how disciplined and serious you are in trading.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin POW to POS the key? on: December 27, 2023, 05:31:26 PM
It is true that Ethereum converted from PoW to PoS but the transaction fee did not reduce. So I do not know the problem you meant that Ethereum faced in the paste.

There are coins that make use of PoW that are cheaper than Ethereum transactions. Examples are litecoin, doge et cetera.

Converting from PoW to PoS is not the solution.
I don't think so. Maybe you are using exchanges to transfer your ETH that's why the fee is so high, or maybe you are transferring erc-20 tokens.

I have tried transferring ETH to another wallet using non-custodial wallets such as myetherwallet and metamask but it only needs a very low fee.

Now, the problem we need to fix is the Bitcoin transaction fee to get back to normal, not in brc-20 tokens.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest misconception about Cryptocurrency? on: December 27, 2023, 05:07:45 PM
The biggest misconception about cryptocurrency is that people think cryptocurrency is a get rich quick scheme. That's why criptocurrency is our more used as an investment rather than a currency system. I have seen people in 2017 rushing towards cryptocurrency to get rich quick. Some of my friends have even used their credit cards to buy cryptocurrency. So I believe this is the biggest misconception here in the crypto market.
Theoretically you can get rich overnight if you invest most of your money into hype crypto just like this token, imagine you bought Recursive Doodinals with all money you have, you're already learn 11x of your initial capital. Of course no one knows if this token will pump a lot and there's a chance you might lose all of your money when the project is exit scam or failed.

Yes it's possible, but the probability of losing their funds if they invested in that coin is around 80% to 90%. Why? Imagine investors who really have knowledge in investing crypto encounter loses. Maybe they only invested on top coins as they know that it has higher rate of success that it will be doubled or quadrupled the price. How much more if a newbie invested into a newly launch coin who really don't know any information from them. It's easy to lose in crypto than to make profit.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Bitcoin POW to POS the key? on: December 27, 2023, 04:40:41 PM
People are thinking what's the best way to get rid of this blockchain network congestion.

Network congestion is a problem for us because it affects the fee. The normal fee is just around $1 but this month we are experiencing a very high fee which is unaffordable to most people.

We found out that the reason of this issue is because of brc-20 tokens, they use Bitcoin blockchain. And since Bitcoin's blockchain is only process 7-10 transactions per second which is not enough to manage all the transaction if we included the brc-20 tokens.

Now, is the problem will be fixed if brc-20 tokens will be removed?

Yes, very possible, but how? Brc20 tokens keeps improving and lot of brc20 token is being launch everyday.
The total confirmed market cap of brc20 tokens that is listed in Coinmarketcap is $3b with a $1b trading volume which is very difficult to stop.

The other solution to fix network congestion is to increase the block size. Is increasing the block size fix network congestion?
Definitely yes, and there is no need to eradicate brc20 tokens.

But in what way? Is it really possible to increase the block size of Bitcoin? For sure there's a reason why Nakamoto put only a very limited block size.

I have found another solution to remove this obstacle in Bitcoin but I don't know if this idea is acceptable to the majority. If you remember what happen to Ethereum way back 2017, it encountered this such problem.
They made Ethereum to POS from POW as a solution to this problem, and it's called ETH 2.0

If there will be a Bitcoin 2.0 or a change of network from POW to POS then not only the network congestion is being fixed but many more, and also it can reduced the energy consumption.
