How much do they paying you? I see that they empployed indians with poor English.

Sic.
By their grammar we shall know them.
But really, Morris, that's poor even by your usual, low standards. Have you considered a subscription to Grammerly?

Trading started befor 5 pm UTC so they could dump their tokens. Their Spectrocoin was unavailable at the time of trading so no one could made withdraw. Great.. that greedy dudes just dumped the massive amount of tokens and exit scamed.

Good theory, unfortunately the blockchain shows it's wrong.

I have heard the ran away with the money.
Well, duh, Morris, of course you've heard that. You're the one who's been shouting it since you arrived here. It's the voices in your head you're hearing... Enough with the hate-filled rantings, let Bankera get on with their work.

Extra tokens received, precisely as calculated.
Some contrition from the naysayers, for their rudeness if nothing more, would not go amiss.

You may be right, but in the Bitcoin wallet eight connections signifies a receiving only node. A full node requires more than eight.

My Bitcore Core Wallet has only 8 connections to the network.
I assume I need to open a Port through my firewall to increase this.
Can someone please say which port needs to be opened, or point me to the relevant documentation.

Thank you,
ToWS.

Hey, just received a (trivial) number of Bytes in the airdrop.
I was getting a little worried as the full moon was some hours ago and didn't know how long to expect to wait, but all worked as promised. Into the bargain I learned how to sign a message in Bitcoin Core, so that's another plus.
All in all I've been impressed with the project and will certainly stick around to learn more. Best wishes to all concerned.
28  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Central.net "We have been compromised" on: May 02, 2013, 06:01:46 PM
Not wanting to pay fees for sending EUR to a GBP bank account, and being unsure as to how to use TransferWise to remove money from Bitcoin-Central, I asked about converting my remaining EUR to BTC. This is the reply I received.
Quote
Currently, we are processing all withdrawals by hand as both the EUR and BTC funds are under lockdown.  Once we're up to date with all withdrawals, we will be working on a process to allow conversion between funds.  Please stay tuned for information posted on the site.
This might well suit me better than withdrawing fiat.
I wish them well, and look forward to their return as a stronger and wiser exchange.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "Bitcoin Supernode"?
You need the 'other' thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=174620.0) - the thread that these pages have split from - to answer that question. It's a long read but the signal/noise ratio is high and it might just be the start of something interesting. Give it a whirl.
30  Economy / Scam Accusations / The facts suggest otherwise on: April 08, 2013, 09:37:06 AM
davout, the owner, just stole everyone's balance on bitcoin-central.com
Strong words wopwop.
As far as I can see Bitcoin Central is once again trading normally.
My deposits, both in EUR and BTC are exactly as they were before the site was closed last week.
It's just that my (unfortunately tiny) BTC amount is now worth double what it was.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC: Bitcoin is a bizarre game with a currency, which doesn't exist on: April 04, 2013, 07:35:03 AM
No, No, No. 'The BBC' certainly didn't say that Bitcoin was a bizarre game.
Two talking heads, one from a tabloid newspaper and the other a professional spokeswoman, were asked to comment about something they didn't know anything about; and succeeded in showing only that they could indeed fill airtime.
However, Angela Knight, for it was she who was the female guest, has form in this field.
She was formerly the spokeswoman for the British Bankers Association and was therefore the go-to talking head whenever the media needed someone to someone to argue for the Bankers actions during the financial crisis. (The BBC isn't Fox/Sky, they need people from both sides of an argument). Many are the happy hours Mrs ToWS and I have spent fulminating at the unheeding TV screen during her valiant defences of the indefensible.
32  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin-Central security breach precursor? on: April 02, 2013, 10:26:02 PM
Bitcoin-Central is currently closed due to a security breach which they detected on April 1st.
However for much of the previous week, well before that date, their EUR Market Depth Chart on Bitcoin Charts had a distinctly odd appearance.
Instead of the usual valley shaped graph for Bid/Ask prices, there was an essentially empty graph with, as I recall, a tall 'Ask' bar deep into 'Bid' territory. I don't have a screen dump to show, so I hope that description isn't too confusing.
(The chart is still looking strange, but with the exchange down I guess that's not unexpected).
Does anyone have any light to shed as to why this could have happened and, perhaps more importantly, could it have any relation to the security breach?

So you are affectively moving money via Transferwise middle man to a Bitcoin-Central account ?

Exactly so. Set up an account on Bitcoin-Central (obviously not during the current problem!) and you get details of a bank account in Poland into which you need to pay Euros. Any Euros you deposit into that account appear on the currency side of your online account. You can then trade your deposited Euros for Bitcoins.

I haven't used Mt.Gox, but their process seems to be very similar, albeit slightly more costly as they charge a receiving fee, and with a time delay.

Important: the Polish bank you are paying into is receiving money for many different users' accounts, so you must ensure that you pass forward your account number. TransferWise have a comments field where you can list your number, they then pass it on to the receiving exchange so they know which user has deposited the funds.

Hm, I feel your pain, funding an account from a British bank does appear to be frustratingly difficult; but, take heart. In reality I found doing it was actually quite simple.

I first tried my local bank where, unbelievably, the information desk didn't know what a SEPA transfer was, and would only offer very expensive options.

My own solution, one of many as Stephen Gornick enumerated, was to use TransferWise to move GBP into EUR and deposit them into an account on Bitcoin-Central. The whole process went very smoothly. It was very much simpler than the terse FAQs make it seem.

TransferWise in particular made the process entirely painless with a very polished modus operandi. I would certainly use them again.

In contrast Bitcoin-Central may seem unpolished, but it worked as described and I could move my BTC into my Bitcoin-QT client within minutes.

Fees were approx 1 Euro with Transfer Wise and 0.5% with Bitcoin-Central.

Unfortunately, Bitcoin-Central have rather spoiled this recommendation by having some seemingly serious problems during the past few days. One of the perils of life on the edge I guess. As our American cousins say, 'Your mileage may vary'.

Thank you Yogi, 'smarter than the average bear' it's true.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust No One on: April 02, 2013, 07:01:05 PM
I'm thankful that there are a few people who I do trust absolutely. And I hope that they trust me equally in return. (Mind you, few is a low number).

They are easier to steal than gold.

And they can't be made radioactive either (James Bond, Goldfinger).

Hi, I'm ToWS. I've signed up because I have an observation about the current problems at Paytunia, Bitcoin-Central, Instawallet which I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. Ah well, patience is, they assure us, a virtue.
