21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash Is Now More Profitable to Mine Than Bitcoin on: August 19, 2017, 04:53:51 AM
Even if they get a lot of hashpower, at the end of the day the market will decide.
I'm pretty sure that Bitcoin will be the chosen one. Nobody wants a centralized Bitcoin.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Theory - BitcoinCash @ $500 maintained by bots to keep the mining profitability on: August 19, 2017, 04:40:17 AM
Maybe, or there is a lot of hype around this in South Korea. Bithumb alone has 37% volume. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-cash/#markets
23  Economy / Economics / Re: Are cryptocurrencies better than regular currency on: August 19, 2017, 04:23:41 AM
Yes and no. It depends on the use. In my opinion, Bitcoin is not yet ready for micropayments, but it is already a much better way to preserve your wealth.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin cash pump on: August 19, 2017, 04:13:06 AM
It's probably South Korea pumping it, they have more than 54% trading volume on coinmarketcap.com

[...]
2) 10^15 bytes (1 gigabyte is 1 billion bytes) = 10 Mil GBYTE (for comparison's sake bitcoin has 21 mil BTC max)
No, man. There will be only 1 million GBYTE.
You're probably right about the rest.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin ever replace conventional money? on: August 10, 2017, 01:06:00 PM
Bitcoin is a great asset to hold, but I don't think this will eliminate fiat. It is very hard to achieve transactions at Visa level with the technology we have in Bitcoin. But I would say some altcoin, with very innovative technology, could arise and achieve that goal.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 19, 2017, 06:33:17 PM
I'm trying to add some BYTEBALL i bought on Cryptopia to my wallet.

Attempting to send it my address (recognized here):
https://byteball.fr/BBdistribution.php

but get the following error on Crytopia
Invalid GBYTE address.

Has anyone else had success with this?  Is there a particular trick to doing this?

I sometimes copy and paste addresses and I get an extra space at the end, make sure you didn't copy the space by accident.
Also I don't know if cryptopia would fail at recognising an address like that, but it's just an idea for you to try.

In the end if you find out what was wrong reply here so we can help others!
And if you really believe it's a problem with cryptopia, try asking in the byteball slack channel.
Maybe they're not recognizing it because they're not fully sync'd to the network, but only support could tell for sure.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's happening to the coin market? Can it be lower? on: July 11, 2017, 10:40:51 AM
The answer is yes, but seeing that prices have had a cumulative drop in the last seven days, I don't think they will drop much lower than that.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 13, 2017, 06:13:18 PM
They have full supply, that's why the marketcap is so high. Right now, a much higher market capitalization for Byteball probably would not be a good idea, because the price would crash and probably not recover after each distribution phase.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Everyone is pumping coins all over the place - how to maintain sanity? on: June 07, 2017, 08:53:38 PM
The best way is to inform them that these cryptos also have problems, much bigger problems than what Bitcoin is currently facing. But you will realize that most "investors" are already aware of this, they know it's just hype, but greed will make them keep putting money into it.
31  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Restaurants accepting bitcoin! on: June 05, 2017, 04:18:43 PM
If people can use Bitcoin at amazon.com, via purse.io and gift cards from other services, then it is already possible to buy food from amazon by using Bitcoin.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 05, 2017, 04:09:19 PM
quick question: Will i recieve free bytes for GBYTES stored in my mobile wallet on June 9th if i havent linked a btc address??

is anyone concerned that the top address linked for redemption is probably an exchange?? will that dump the price after the distribution??

which address is it ?
does anyone know which exchange ?
If it is referring to the address on the top of the richlist, those are coins that will be distributed.

Without providing information about your skills, it's impossible to know. It's all a matter of what you're best at doing.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can I mine litecoin using gpu? worth it ? on: May 30, 2017, 12:00:10 AM
It's only worth with Scrypt ASIC miners, and even if you make some profit using GPUs, you could be in a better position mining other altcoins.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather buy ETC or ETH? on: May 29, 2017, 11:51:49 PM
And it will fork again to update in 1-2 months. That will be too much for you !
As long as the purpose is protocol improvement, not really, I have nothing against it.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather buy ETC or ETH? on: May 29, 2017, 11:40:47 PM
So I still think BTC is the real thing and the way to go - but I want to put a smaller amount into ETC or ETH, kind of as an insurance.

What are the differences, and which one of the two would you recommend?
ETC just a forked coin and eth is the real potential rather than etc. Regarding from the fact that we can take a conclusion if ethereum will be a good choice for you to take it as your investment.

But why not put all of your amount on bitcoin?
I only know that ETH was created through a hard fork after somebody scammed somebody, so that scam could be reversed. Which means in ETH, transactions can theoretically be reversed.
Please note that you can try to search the true history of ETC and Ethereum.
The forked coin was ETC and it's not ethereum.
How did you come to that conclusion? ETC is technically the original chain.

Frontier is the original chain. In spring 2016 there was a hardfork from frontier to metropolis.
Ok, but as far as I know, the Ethereum we have now on the market is a fork from Ethereum Classic.

It's just another form of advertising. I think moderation is what needs to be improved.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is the Ethereum Classic future? on: May 29, 2017, 11:03:12 PM
I think they have a good cause, but I do not understand how they plan to scale keeping the PoW algorithm.

40  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: May 29, 2017, 10:54:51 PM
Paper money may be something obsolete for many of us, but it may take a generation to people understand that something better already exists.
