1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Blacknet | IBO for BlackCoin | New code | PoS | No ICO on: November 06, 2019, 07:19:38 PM
This one is still quite a sleeper it seems. I have been away for quite a time. Is the wallet much improved since the first blacknet one?  I have not been back to my main machine still as yet so will not get to test it for a while.

Does it still look pretty much the same HTML based one or more like a standard wallet now?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] truly decentralized exchange | token ecosystem infrastructure on: November 06, 2019, 06:57:47 PM
Are there any plans to add Ethereum to the Block DX? Surprised I couldn't find it Smiley

It's answerered in their latest AMA:  https://www.reddit.com/r/theblocknet/comments/dieqsv/blocknet_ama_thread/

It will hopefully get support eventually Smiley

I thought they were close with that quite some time back. Things move very slowly recently will all projects even the pretty promising ones like this. Let's hope the alt market picks soon and development drives forward at a more speedy pace.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Obyte: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 06, 2019, 06:44:08 PM
Oh, hey Cryptohunter is back! This must mean altcoin season is not far off.
Really?  Huh
I have never had any experience with altcoin season and the activity of Cryptohunter in the forum. Can you clarify a little bit about that correlation between altcoin season and Cryptohunter, please.
Quote
And I believe Obyte is in a position to rally among the first coins in the new season. I would forget about Bittrex, the listing there doesn't help spread awareness. The better exchange would be Binance if someone would just introduce Obyte to the exchange owners.
First or not, I don't care. What I care about is how many percentage Obyte will rally when it does it, that's all I need for my investment with Obyte.
Binance is a great exchange for Obyte even their total daily liquidity has fallen recent months and I would prefer to see Obyte on Binance someday.

I think binance likely has a lot of "their own " volume. I mean look how they treated blocknet.

If we are solid on bittrex then that is good.

Good to hear their is a good amount of development taking place.
Still stocking up to replenish what those scumbags at cryptopia grabbed.

It's all well saying remove the BB from exchanges, everytime I had attempted this from there is had wallet offline. Admittedly that was quite a while back before I took some time out.

I am going to consolidate into only the most promising and durable long term projects now. The dilution death of alts will bring the rest to zero over time.

Good to see some community actions still here. A lot of projects even good ones communities are pretty much dead.

Of course they will return with the next alt wave but they are killing the chances of their project getting a good pump and all the advertising that comes with it by letting it sink off a cliff however dull the alt market is right now.

Even great projects require some adoption or at least long term holders that give something back.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: November 06, 2019, 06:36:18 PM
Is there any reliable blockchain bootstrap to speed up shyncronization?

Also my qt-wallet only shows 3 connections : should I create a .conf file to have a better connection to bitbay network? If so, may please someone paste its content here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think your answer may be found at: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bay/#!network

Be sure to go to the "Network" page as it appears to not be loading all the way in the above URL.

(David can confirm this after he gets back to his computer if you have any further questions.)

Do you mean David is currently away? how is the rest of the old team doing these days? I don't ever go on slack or discord.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] truly decentralized exchange | token ecosystem infrastructure on: October 30, 2019, 01:56:30 PM
This has been a very interesting project for far too long. It is a shame this has not had more support and interest.

How much leakage was there to Binance? how much of the secret sauce did they manage to sample?

They tried but got nothing:

"We were fortunate enough to not share anything private with Binance on this listing application – everything on the shared document included answers that we have otherwise already made public in some form or fashion: our Discord and other chats, whitepaper, Github, AMAs, or if you stopped by our booth and chatted with us at the many events we’ve attended.

However, other projects might not have been so fortunate, and hopefully this news helps raise awareness."

From here:

https://blocknet.co/statement-regarding-blocknet-and-binwance/

That is good to hear. Thanks for the information.
Would be crazy to divulge years of work to  others that would gladly steal it for their own competitive edge.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: October 30, 2019, 01:18:08 PM
@CryptoHunter - Yes onward and forward.
I just think the market is still soooo small and because BAY is what Crypto is supposed to ultimately be, that "they" just had to try and "pull it"... out of everyone's conscience by killing it on the exchanges.

@ParsiCoin - You have a very nice looking exchange - congratulations!
You are very young, with very little traffic - for now. Best wishes for success.
Thank you for your interest in BAY.

WORLD NOTICE:
BitBay.market IS FUNCTIONING AND HAS THE BEGINNINGS OF A WORLDWIDE MARKETPLACE.
I do private trading/sales on there now.

BAY is like Amazon, Ebay and Alibaba; however, in a TRULY DEcentralized block chain - for the world to use, FREE.
I think this coin would be perfect for those that cannot access traditional banking and eCommerce systems.

Your enthusiasm for bitbay is what we need more of. It is a shame so many of the members of this community remain silent just waiting for others to build their future for them.

David has provided a fantastic base here and has done his best to push it out there for adoption.

We need now to really bring together on this thread all the enthusiasts and supporters and work together to find a way to push this forward. Surely we will not come this far just to let it all collapse into the abyss of forgotten and abandoned projects.

There may be some huge whales out there with 100's of millions of bay, we need to realize just hoarding and not allowing others to get some small stake by other means that just purchasing will not work. We need to bring incentives to get people using the market place.  The web market place ideally should be synced with the p2p market place fully and completely and polished up a little bit. Then we should run a rewards competition for using and completing (perhaps selling) items on there. It should ideally offer all of the features of the p2p market place as much as possible.

We could also start reaching out to other forums to bring in testers and future stake holders.

The roadmaps were going very well when last we were active. I hope we have not lost momentum due to the set backs and unfortunate actions of centralized exchanges.

Let's start building momentum again.

If we have even 50 members like doc bitbay would be unstoppable right now. Where are the real enthusiasts for this project. I feel the lack of support can only be due to the lack of understanding as to what this project actually offers.

We certainly need to build a minimum level of demand where the peg can be introduced successfully.

We need to build a team of people here that will work and contribute for bitbay not for btc. If you are a real enthusiast for bitbay you will work to build value from this project.

ROI projects that reward ONLY those or primarily those that are willing to invest are essential really going forward.

Just a couple of international bitbay reshippers could totally change the look of the bitbay web market place.

It really needs to work like this of course it would take a little bit to get it going due to the total death and destruction of the volume here in our market places.

We have a plugin or feature that your ebay reshippers (international if possible since the huge fees that are auto slapped on by ebay leave a ton of room for profit.

So you click the ebay items you are offering to resell, the plugin grabs the buy it now price and converts it auto and updates it in real time or near real time to perhaps 120% of bitbays market price and grabs the pics etc and lists it on your account for sale. It also scans that item to see if it becomes unavailable or whatever then auto removes it. The advantage at first will need to be on the sellers side to make the process worth while. This can be reduced as bitbay volume and price is more stable and has more liquidity.  As a seller you could later kick back a sensible amount to your buyers for extra great ratings and get more sales so long as you make a sensible profit per item.

So as a seller as soon as you see the sale generated you instantly check the ebay item is available dump the same amount of bay to fiat, and get the item ordered from ebay.

This kind of plugin could likey be done pretty quickly.  There are some points of risk for the seller these will be mitigated somewhat as volume picks up and liquidity increases. The profit margins are there though to afford the seller great profits without really pushing up the price hugely if at all to the seller. Eventually when all worked through efficiently there is plenty of room for a lot of profit and savings for both sides.

Need to get the volume and demand there first, even better if the peg can be flipped on.

There needs to be a group of bitbay enthusiasts formed that work together. There are some big holders and quite a few old legends all holding but sadly doing nothing to push the project forward.

Donations NEVER work, however ROI projects will certainly work far better.

I have suggested in before but I will suggest it again that david alters the pos rate to perhaps 15 rather than 20 per  and takes the 5 as a dev/advertising fund and use these coins as incentives to bring in new interest via incentives to use the market place, sell things there and many other well thought out uses for those coins. It is the fairest way to group fund since those with most will give the most from their stakes. Since we have the voting feature we can all get together and think of the best ways to use those coins to bring on adoption and awareness.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Obyte: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 28, 2019, 08:59:35 PM
distribution

Still haven't changed the record, then?  All the altcoins out there which had shamefully gluttonous premines at launch and yet you want to complain about one of the few coins that didn't?  I believe this to be one of the most open and inclusive distributions I've seen.  Can't fault it at all.  Then again, it's not surprising you don't agree with your "unique" perspectives on just about everything.    Roll Eyes

You can not fault giving huge swathes of your minting to competing projects because you have perspectives I do not share.

There was no premine for the developer (not huge anyway) but there certainly was a huge automatic assignment of coins to competing project leaders holding btc freshly taken from the hands of dreamers and chancers.

If Tony had blocked those known addresses as I had suggested at the outset then perhaps it would not have been driven into the ground for years on end.

Gluttonous premines are something I have done more to stand against than any other member on this entire forum. I would suggest you research my post history before disputing this. However, a gluttonous premine in the hands of a developer that will remain with the project and use that premine for long term development is still a step up from handing huge swathes directly to competing projects.

Of course a transparent and wide initial distribution is the what most would consider the ideal. I originally believed it was the only way it should be. However, too wide and too distributed with no single group or individual having enough incentive to push the project forward has been demonstrated to be just as counter productive. A large premine that is transparent with a full ledger is not entirely unacceptable within sensible range.

I am not really open to engaging in this particular aspect of BB distribution unless you can provide a specific example of my prior assessment of this distribution or a suggestion for an alternative tweak to the distribution I had previously suggested that you can clearly debunk as being net negative with regard the non stop crushing of this project in terms of market price.

If you can not fault giving huge swathes of your minting to competing projects that is fine with me.I will remain unique in my perspective that the very notion of willingly doing this is ludicrous.

If the development is strong enough and their remains a clear use case for BB then eventually things should balance up to a point where it is not being dumped into the ground to finance other projects (hopefully that stage is near exhausted) or having such huge whales that they can manipulate the markets at will and have no real loyalty or desire to see BB do well.

Not as dishonest as a premine/instamine, perhaps even noble (in a strange way) but certainly not sensible.

Still holding a lot  and was still accumulating (until cryptopia took a few hundred GB worth away) so obviously not saying it was dishonest or corrupt.  Glad to see it had not been abandoned.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bullion (CBX) 'the Digital Precious Metal' | 2019 Roadmap published on: October 28, 2019, 06:31:24 PM
I just read something about aptum, may not continue. Let's wait for official news, I could be mistaken.

Elambert has been solid for years, this merger or partnership, whatever it is to be, should be issue or disaster free because a lot of people do have faith in him based on his reputation.

Last I had heard the queue based masternode system was almost there? Bullion is a great name too.

There was a prior attempt to start a new CBX related project that did not end up taking place. Let's hope aptum does go ahead or that bullion does get back on track.

If the queue based masternode design was flawed or there turned out to be insoluble problems with it then that is fine, but it sounded all so very close to completion.. I believe they had turned it out on testnet for a while, so it must have looked promising.

To be clear I am a supporter of Elambert and hope that one or both of these projects does well in the future.

What happened to the other long term member of the leadership of bullion? I forget his name now?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Obyte: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 28, 2019, 06:20:00 PM
@cryptohunter: Hey, you're back!
Just install your own wallet, keeping coins on an exchange doesn't help for adoption.

Thank you Loyce. Yes, whilst I agree this would be the safest option, now that I am free to start putting some more time into crypto again, it is nice to keep some on the exchange for churning and hopefully increasing the old BB holdings a little.

I was just wondering how much contact TonyCH has with bittrex bill. It seems they will remove even highly credible developers projects if they deem them lacking in community activity or they are not in close contact with them regardless of the minimum volume requirement they state.

I am catching up with a lot of the token swaps, coin swaps, exchange delistings, exchange closures, dev team mergers etc. This period has been extreme and incredibly damaging for even those alts that have strong development teams and sensible/valuable use cases. Many of the centralised exchanges are taking on a ton of garbage tokens with no actual development at all, and nothing but the unrealistic dreams of marketeers and others that would fail to secure any interest or funding outside of crypto.  They are giving to the boot to real projects with solid use cases and near on complete road maps.

Anyway, still hoping for some success for BB even though there was always going to a be a very tough time due to the strange decision regarding the initial distribution phase.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | POW/POS+MN | 0.10.7.4 - New Self Moderated Thread on: October 28, 2019, 05:39:43 PM
what is nova's issue with quark? the wallet is offline? are they even on the correct and latest wallet?

Annoying and inconvenient for them to take yet another change of direction that requires closure.

Shame to see such a historically important project left floundering around. Hopefully some whale will accumulate enough at some point to bring in some important upgrades that can bring back some relevance to this one.

One of my fav projects, if even for the nostalgic value alone.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Obyte: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 28, 2019, 04:51:01 PM
How secure is BB on bittrex? I just realised I have had a shit ton of this snaked away by cryptopia.

Is Bittrex going to give this the boot soon? or is TonyCH still in regular contact and keeping them appraised to the work and updates he is putting in?

Centralised exchanges have been crushing some pretty good projects lately via their antics.

Good to see the thread is still active to a degree but the community seems to have shrunk to almost nothing. That is worrying.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIVX] - PRIVATE INSTANT VERIFIED TRANSACTION - PROOF OF STAKE - ZEROCOIN on: October 28, 2019, 04:42:49 PM
How many long term holders of darknet/pivx are still on board?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: October 28, 2019, 04:35:54 PM
WOW, if any project here has been a victim of shitty centralised exchanges it has to be this one.

The most sickening thing is missing these at 20 sats. What a crazy turn of events. Imagine cryptopia exiting, bittrex dumping, and nova closing? crazy times.

This project truly offers many unique features that brings that other projects simply can not compete with.

It seems to me that if we had our own truly decentralised exchange built in, that bitbay has almost created the end to end fully decentralised arena.

The only thing this project lacks is exposure and support by some highly influential people in this sphere. The core issue is most members here do not even appreciate what this project offers so have no clue at all on what an opportunity they are missing out on.

We need to educate them and built up a strong community going forward. Alts are diluting to the point where they will all pretty much be worthless.

The community we do have needs to find a way to educate other members on the advantages and use cases bitbay has over 99% of other alts here and give them a way to become involved and have a stake going forward.

This thread needs to be far more active so as to demonstrate the project is still progressing.

To think this was at 500M cap with less features and further from completion by far than this is now is quite strange. It just shows the ignorance of investors and the influence centralised exchanges have over them.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] truly decentralized exchange | token ecosystem infrastructure on: October 28, 2019, 04:25:31 PM
This has been a very interesting project for far too long. It is a shame this has not had more support and interest.

How much leakage was there to Binance? how much of the secret sauce did they manage to sample? is blocknet going to get something off of the ground and running before those guys make this kind of semi- redundant.

That would be a real shame you guys have come quite a way.

I guess XC is pretty much staying on the back burner (whatever purpose it has) until blocknet is picking up a lot more interest and bug free?

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bullion (CBX) 'the Digital Precious Metal' | 2019 Roadmap published on: October 28, 2019, 04:17:40 PM
So Bullion is to be left without the updates that were almost there? why abandon this work?

What the latest with the swap news? any time frame?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][COVAL] Circuits Of Value - Emblem Vault [SWAP TO ERC-20 IS LIVE!!!] on: October 28, 2019, 04:14:39 PM
Total carnage of late; exchanges going down, removing credible projects with real use cases from their market places.

Hopefully I still have time to switch these over. I hope these guys pull something solid together soon.
17  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ddmrddmr on DT1 on: April 09, 2019, 12:02:36 PM
Seems one of the more level headed, civil and mature meta board inhabitants.

Seems a sensible DT choice above 90% of the others on there.

It is not ALL about red trusting "apparent" scammers or about red trusting people who tell the truth. There are other good reasons to be on DT.

@QS

thanks for information, very helpful and I'm looking into it all one by one.
19  Other / Meta / Re: Excessively meriting a mediocre post - rules? on: April 07, 2019, 06:36:37 PM
See link; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5123258.msg50363129#msg50363129

I'm not sure what to think about this; is this abuse, or do the rules of free market and free choice apply here? The post doesn't look exceptionally good to me, especially since "better" (imo) answers had already been given.. (although perhaps Taki sees this differently..?)

Is this sort of behavior generally frowned upon, or is this perfectly fine?

Just wondering.

There are no "real" rules for giving merit ( I see subsequently it was found to likely be his alt so that is likely abuse). I mean it is not supposed to be given out on political grounds, but of course that is observably not the case. Free choice certainly applies.

There are several instances where large amounts of merit are given out from merit sources for a low value one liner.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5123752.msg50280347#msg50280347

I have seen people just more or less ask for some merit and a merit source has just given it to them for fun.

So, no to answer your question I don't think it is possible to get merit removed for abuse or get anything much done about  it unless it can be proven to be their alt .  Then again i have seen merit removed from excellent posts.  I guess it is not usually worth worrying about it if you see excessive merit passed around for posts that look to have very  low value.

thanks I will see what that page is all about looks useful

@QS

cheers,

but do these count against you ? is that part of that 61? theymos is talking about? also what about self moderated? i have a bunch of self moderated ones filling pages mostly from just a couple of threads where the thread started went against me for some reason.

I just found it strange there was 3 notifications all identical but the messages are sent at 3 different times like a bug.

no point making a huge reply if a shorter one is quite sufficient to give the reader or person presenting the question a valuable answer.

Also if someone says do you mean top 50 or top 100 you are not allowed to reply  50 or 100

I don't like to post more than I need to. At times I make long posts, at times I make short posts where that is all that is required to settle the matter. I like to post in the most efficient manner I can so long as it details for the reader all the essentials.
