681  Economy / Economics / Re: How the stimulus money is created on: June 11, 2020, 02:45:26 PM
How different is printing money from raising money by issuing non-collateral debt instrument? Treasury Department would still have liability to pay off money raised by selling IOUs. This will in turn increases the fiscal deficit. Meanwhile, low rate of fiscal deficit is good stimulus for economy but issuing such high number of IOUs in depressing economy will put the government budget into vicious circle of debt.

Hehe, right! I am decoding this image from last 15 minutes and have zero clue what it is. It looks like some random image of Mars's surface released by NASA. This is cheating Hhampuz! Cheesy If anyone gets this right, he's getting $200 from my side too, lol.

@webtricks still has a strong chip stack, good luck dude! everyone else i know is out already.....

Thank you FOMA. It's been a good first session for me, maybe my best first hour performance. Currently I am at 11th spot but game takes unexpected turns in second hour especially once blinds are above 250. Let's see if I get to see final table today.
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The average cost of sending a Bitcoin transaction is now just a little over $1. on: June 09, 2020, 02:22:01 PM
Do you think we need consensus on fees too? Most of the people use popular wallets like Electrum, Mycelium, etc. What if these wallets start showing same fees as recommended? For example, $0.5 equivalent bitcoin as normal fees, $0.8 equivalent as high priority fees and $0.2 equivalent as low priority. I think most of the people don't pay much attention on fees and select whatever wallet suggests. So most of the transactions will happen at same fees and can stop excessive increase in fees during congestion periods. User would still have choice to pay any fees but default fees will be shown same to everyone.

I don't think it will really be viable to expect competing wallets to agree upon static fees. Let's say for example all wallets are using 5satb/10satb/15satb fees. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them goes with 6/satb/11satb/16satb, just so the end up being the sort of "faster" wallet in the eyes of their users.

Umm, right! That's why I hate democracy sometimes. Cheesy

Mostly the exchanges charges very high fees and we must pay that in order to withdraw our funds, but what they really do is send the bitcoins to at-least 10 to 20 people in a single transaction and save the fees of those 10 to 20 people at once. This is completely unethical and they should stop doing this as it makes more income for those exchanges and feels like we have been scammed by them. Although I always check the average transaction fees before sending my bitcoins to any address as a quick search can save you a lot of money in the long run.

I wasn't talking about withdrawal fees charged by Exchanges or web wallets. In their case, fees are arbitrary which don't represent true network fees. Yes, they send batch payments and even if they process individual withdrawal, fees are still high (I guess avg fees charged by exchanges is around 0.0003-0.0005 BTC). They are surely cheating users by charging high amount in the name of fees but you can't do anything in that case because wallet is custodial.

However, I on the other hand was suggesting an easy way to control high network fees during congestion period for non-custodial wallets or Bitcoin network in general.
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The average cost of sending a Bitcoin transaction is now just a little over $1. on: June 08, 2020, 12:52:26 PM
I've been doing like 5 sats/b transactions which is a lot less than $1 for a while now, and they've been getting confirmed within an hour. If you're paying $1 transaction fees, you're honestly overpaying unless you really want the transaction to be almost instant(next block).

Some great guesses so far! Keep 'em coming, about 14 hours left until the 24 hour window ends Smiley

Did anybody get it right so far? This one is certainly out of my reach even if I try searching with telescope.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: June 06, 2020, 06:40:04 PM
What a lucky day I had today.

I forgot to bet on Bayern and when I opened sportsbook, odds on Bayern were increased to 2.05 because Leverkusen scored in first 15 minutes. After placing bet, I started watching match and Bayern scored 3 goals in next 25 minutes.  Cheesy

Afterwards in Dortmund game, I forgot to bet once again. I opened sportsbook at 15th minute and odds were 1.52 in favor of Dortmund, although that's not much but I placed the bet. I was busy at that time so didn't watch the game. After the first half, I checked the status of my bet but was surprised to see that bet wasn't accepted. Good thing was that odds on Dortmund were then increased to 1.93. I placed the bet once again, this time making sure that my bet was accepted. Then tuned to the game and Can scored within 5 minutes.  Cheesy

Overall, I was able to quadruple my money and that too with safe bets on Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

About game,

BVB was awesome in transition. Players have exceptional sync between them. 7-8 smooth passes and they were able to convert defense into attack. Two of which were outstanding. One I guess was in 62-65th minutes and other was in 83-84th minutes (between Sancho, Hakimi and Guerrerio). Hakimi is exceptional talent, I am sure Real gonna call him back as main RB next season. But he's now one of the most important player in BVB formation, let's see if BVB gonna try to sign him or retain for another season.

692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can the token of an ICO be purchased outside the Exchange? on: June 05, 2020, 05:54:41 PM
Can the token of an ICO be purchased outside the Exchange (before its launch), that is, purchased on any website of the cryptocurrency itself or a website made exclusively for the sale of these tokens?

It depends upon the smart contract created for the token. Mostly, the projects lock the tokens until tokens get listed on the exchange. This is done to prevent dumping of tokens before project gets kick-start. If tokens are locked then you can't buy those on any other platform or P2P. You can only buy tokens from official ICO website at official price.
693  Local / India / Re: Are Crypto traders willing to trade for others ? on: June 04, 2020, 12:25:18 PM
The concept of Crypto Broker can be dangerous provided cryptocurrencies have key-based ownership. It would be very difficult for anyone to trust third-party with his/her crypto holdings. We need middlemen to ensure that coins remain safe even if third-person is trading them. Exchanges can solve this problem. Exchange can let someone else control the coins of depositors but keep the coins in its own custody and only depositor can withdraw them.

I think there is already something similar to your idea. I have seen it on WazirX and the concept is known as 'Smart Token Funds'. It allows users to give control of their funds to smart traders who can invest funds in their own portfolio but can't withdraw the funds of users. This concept is more alike mutual funds wherein every smart trader provide his portfolio and users can invest funds into the portfolio by buying units of his Smart Token Funds.

697  Local / India / Re: RBI says no curbs in providing bank accounts to crypto traders on: May 31, 2020, 08:45:16 PM
It is true that RBI didn't issue any public announcement after the Supreme Court judgement so there's a chance that few bankers were still unclear about legality. I haven't
No RBI has officially announced Banks can allow bank accounts to crypto traders,Though banks like SBI,HDFC,KOTAK,ICICI has not given their official response but Unocoin co-founder BV Harish has confirmed.
Please read in below link
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/rbi-says-banks-can-provide-accounts-to-cryptocurrency-traders-report-5315021.html/amp

You are actually quoting the same article. Even OP has created the thread on the same basis. This RBI response in relation to the RTI filed by BV Harish. Although it confirms that RBI has accepted Supreme Court's verdict and no longer putting any restriction on banks to provide services to crypto users but no official announcement is published by RBI on its site yet.

Low level working of the banks is usually done on the basis of circulars and official PR issued by RBI. It is possible that banks are still declining clients from banking services citing previous RBI circular (dated 6th April 2018) because that's the most recent official circular they got. Unless RBI explicitly notify banks about the current position, we will keep hearing news where crypto users were declined of services by banks.

If it's possible will it be okay to make the number of tokens equivalent to the number of developers participating in the project's development and to give one token to one developer?

Before answering your questions I would like to know what these tokens represent? As you said there will be no cryptocurrency for your project, so do these tokens represent ownership in your project? If yes then what benefits will the token holder get? Share of profit? Also how will you distribute the shares so everything is transparent?

Or did you mean Ethereum tokens?
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 31, 2020, 05:15:13 PM
yeah, it is goalless at the moment in Paderborn, and it is not that interesting either, so do not expect much goals in second half, maybe just one to decide for Dortmund, but could end up with a draw

Opposite! BVB looking promising in second half. The first 8 minutes of second half was better than whole first half. And as I am writing, Hazard scored the first for Borussia. What a wonderful determination from Emre Can. He took the ball into the box and gave a wonderful cross to Hazard. Really! The Other Hazard is shining this season!! I still believe Borussia taking this game home with 3:0.

EDIT: Here comes the second! Believe me it's going 3:0 to BVB!
700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The real value of blockchain on: May 31, 2020, 03:05:56 PM
Ok so basically blockchain is used only for cryptocurrency and that’s it. For anything else it’s useless because everything else can be created with existing tech

You can create cryptocurrencies without using blockchain technology too. Same applies to everything else. What is blockchain? In simple words, a method of maintaining database where data is stored in blocks and hash of each block links to the next block, that's it! You can adopt this principle and apply blockchain for maintaining database for any project. It will neither make your website decentralized, nor tamper-proof unless you take care other stuffs as well.

When I talk about other stuffs, it includes the methodology of creating new blocks, place of keeping database and difficulty of tampering database.

Methodology of creating new blocks : If new blocks are added to blockchain on sole discretion of creator then your blockchain is not decentralized and adding no value. You can simply go forward and design your project with simpler database structure. If, there is some protocol of adding new blocks like in case of Bitcoin we have the protocol of adding new block when someone finds a hash whose value is less than the target difficulty, only then your blockchain is decentralized and adding value.

Place of keeping database : Next important thing is that where are you keeping the records of all blocks. Are these kept on single device or spread across number of devices where each device is keeping the copy of blockchain. If the storage is centralized then your blockchain can't be said decentralized and adding no value. On the other hand, if anyone can maintain the copy of database on his system then it would be difficult to temper data across all devices making your blockchain valuable.

Difficulty of tampering database : This is most important point. If you can manipulate the data that is stored in blockchain and re-write whole blockchain easily, then your blockchain is not decentralized and adding no value. The value of blockchain depends upon how difficult and costly is to manipulate the data in any block and re-hash the blocks above that. In case of Bitcoin, even manipulating one block less than the current height and mining two blocks above that to make that the longest valid chain is very very difficult which makes bitcoin decentralized up to great extent.

So here is your answer. You can use blockchain technology in any stuff you want no matter if it's cryptocurrency or a social media site. But if your blockchain is not fulfilling these three points then it's better you adopt simpler structure of database maintenance. On the other side, if your blockchain fulfills these three points then you can surely create any project no matter if its social media site or any kind of other utility.
