321  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mini Rig announcement by Butterfly Labs - 25gh/s on: May 12, 2012, 12:58:34 PM
If bitcoins completely disappeared would these machines have any resale value? I don't understand why everyone argues that they will not pay off even if it takes 2 years to break even, you still have the machine, say it is worth $5k after two years thats a 16% return. I may not completely understand the risks but sounds solid to me.

We would like to let all our clients know that, in case of Bitcoin failure, we will make all our units OpenSource,
and thus making it possible for the clients to sell their units to various industries at almost certainly higher price
than they purchased it in the first place.

Regards,
BF Labs Inc.

This makes no sense. Why would you not open-source now and make more money (according to you)?
322  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: FPGA comparison on: May 11, 2012, 01:33:38 AM
Can you put it on Google docs and share it? That's less dangerous (for us) than sharing an excel file.
323  Other / Off-topic / Re: In case anyone was wondering about using BitForce Singles in OSX on: May 10, 2012, 09:57:27 PM
I think that because you need a computer in order to run a BFL, and after the emergency technology convention on October 5th, 2011, Macintosh coasters are no longer classified as computers.

Now that's just mean.

BitcoinBaltar, try starting cgminer with the following option added:   --disable-gpu

Malwarebytes also scanned clean.

Summary - no virus
326  Other / Off-topic / Re: 864 mh/s firmware release - Butterfly Labs on: May 09, 2012, 10:07:48 PM
Along with the beta release of our maintenance and diagnostics tool (EasyMiner), we're making an experimental firmware available for running your Singles at a faster than stock 864 mh/s.
BFL

I think you mean faster than stock 832 Mh/s
327  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL "EasyMiner" Released. Reviews? on: May 09, 2012, 11:13:23 AM
Do the speed changes done by Easyminer shown here:  http://www.butterflylabs.com/drivers/ "stick"? In other words, can I use Easyminer to change the speed of the device and then go back to cgminer and run at that speed?

328  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question to multi-BFL Single miners: temperature and throttling issues on: May 08, 2012, 07:11:57 PM
Solved! ....
I squeezed the blob manually and distributed it all over the FPGA with my finger to build a thin film, attached the heat-pipe back - et voilá, device is working at full speed with 815MH/s Smiley

BFL, does this void our warranty when we have to do such repairs? Are customers authorized to open the device in cases like this?
329  Other / Off-topic / Re: P2Pool and BFL hardware on: May 08, 2012, 11:08:25 AM
Will it be possible to upgrade BFL units that are already out in the "field" or do they need to be sent back to BFL for reprogramming?

I wonder if BFL will ever answer this question?  Will using P2Pool with BFL always be a problem?
330  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA development board "Lancelot" - official discussion thread. on: May 07, 2012, 12:12:43 AM
500+ mh/s for $500 or so??? Even without any warranty I may be in for some  Grin

Good Luck !!!!!!!!

Can you explain why you're excited when BFL offers more MH/s/$?  I like having competition, but I'm not getting it?
331  Other / Off-topic / Re: OK, i confirmed the model of FPGA they are using in BFL single. on: May 06, 2012, 01:50:41 PM
ngzhang, based on the specs for the chip, would you say that BFL is overdriving this chip, or is it comfortably within it's specs?
332  Other / Off-topic / Re: OK, i confirmed the model of FPGA they are using in BFL single. on: May 06, 2012, 01:37:16 PM
I see this as both good a bad news. The bad news is that they probably only have a limited quantity of this chip available. Either they will have to raise the price, or redesign their product using a Spartan or something else more modern.

1.  Is the bottom plate pre-drilled and tapped for the ATX screw pattern?

2.  Can the video cards be screwed into the beam at the front, if so, how? (Like a standard case to keep them from shifting from side to side).
335  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: April 29, 2012, 06:31:28 PM
Are you doing shipped date or arrival date (the table column says shipped)? Abbeytim's says 5/1 and that's his arrival date. I assume it shipped when he wrote his post.
336  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.6 on: April 29, 2012, 02:45:35 AM
Sorry if this is a dumb question ckolivas:

Is there any advantage to having cgminer listen on multiple large pools for LP's even if you have no intention if mining there? For example:

Pool 0 - The real desired pool
Pool 1 -  Large pool number one
Pool 2 - Large pool number two
Pool 3 - Large pool number three
337  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: April 28, 2012, 06:42:43 PM
I thinks it's down to about 2 months but it's improving.
338  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.4 on: April 28, 2012, 02:41:20 AM
I tried moving my hard drive from a motherboard that only had one GPU to a motherboard that had three GPU's plugged in.

I did the sudo aticonfig -f --adapter=all --initial and rebooted, I also deleted the .bin file in cgminer's directory.

CGminer gave an error about the number of devices not matching. It saw three devices, but OpenCL was only seeing one?

Where else does OpenCL know about the number of video cards besides xorg.conf and what else should I have done besides running aticonfig?

The system was build with these instructions: https://github.com/kanoi/linux-usb-cgminer/blob/master/linux-usb-cgminer
opencl has nothing to do with xorg I'm afraid, but what you need before starting cgminer is:
Code:
export DISPLAY=:0

I'm not running as root. DISPLAY is already set. And I'm not using SSH, I'm on the local console.

Is anyone sucessfully running their BFL Singles against p2pool? I understand the frequent LONGPOLL's cause a problem with BFL's 5 second calculation. (By successful, I don't just mean that it works, I mean it works efficiently and you are making the normal amount of coin as expected). If so, can you share your settings for CGMiner?
