Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which documentary is the best Bitcoin Documentary?

Isn't it sad though when we have to resort to not wanting to educate individuals? Sure I agree the average person who has knowledge about bitcoin would probably shrug it off or not take it in as real. But still it is good to have more people educated on any topic including bitcoin because the discussion can move ahead faster and in a proper manner. Nothing is worse than trying to discuss something but only one person having knowledge about it. I have been talking about bitcoin with my friends for the past few months and at first it sucked but now they have the terminology and follow a few forums and reddits which allows us to have a good conversation now.
tldr sad we gotta not want to educate people but once people learn for themselves discussion can become fun as it has with my friends.
Nope. It's not sad. When you're dealing with a person who responds to a thoughtful and logical explanation with 'tulips ponzi drugs' for the tenth time in a row, life is too short to waste any energy on such a person. We only have so much energy. I'm buggered if I'm devoting it to something as pointless as that. Both parties end up looking deluded and pathetic, the bitcoin fan for sounding needlessly cultish, the naysayer for refusing to process any straightforward information. The problem i see is, people believe what they hear/read on the news. Also a negative review has much more impact than a positive one. But the biggest problem is, that people just believe, and do NOT check the facts and dig deeper into the matter. Everything has a price. And they are paying for it right now, as Bitcoin is rising and they are still in denial. Hopefully they will learn from the mistake.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Which documentary is the best Bitcoin Documentary?
|
on: December 11, 2017, 09:35:35 PM

So i'm looking for the best Bitcoin documentary. One where people could understand what it's about, how it works, it's potential, origins,...
Almost everyone i know in real life has very bad view on the bitcoin, thinks it's a scamm, ponzi or something like this. I know that this is just PURE assumption and not based on facts. Since they probably know near-zero of what it is all about, they just heard about the price going up on TV(most likely). So i would like to recommend them a documentary but i don't know which one.
Suggestions?

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Why aren't Bitcoin multimillionaires(billionaires) funding the development ofBTC
|
on: December 11, 2017, 05:49:11 PM
|
So how many people are working lightning? Like 10? Maybe?
Seems like not many people are intrested in participating in open source("free) development?
Many people have gotten crazy rich from this thing, why do they not fund the developers or something? It would only increase their wealth and their net worth is probably above what you need. I mean they could afford to contribute.
Why is there not a fundraiser for the development, or some campaign like this? Do you think this is not needed?
Any thoughts?

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it possible to create Proof of Stake on LN and have wallets only on LN?

Well as far as i know, how it works is you have to open a payment channel with somebody and then you can transact with them off-chain. So this is peer to peer. You can only send to people you have an open channel with, or if they have an open channel with somebody else, you can send the money through the person you have an open channel with, to that 3rd person. But it will likely be more efficient if there are big, centralized nodes("hubs"), to which many people connect and then they can transfer between each other through that node(note that this is still completelly trustless. The node is not used to rely trust, but to make the transactions fast and cheap). My question is actually, could there be a blockchain-based-decentralized-trustless Lightning network node("hub")?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do we even need 99% altcoins when there is Lightning network?

So once Bitcoin has lightning network you will be able to send payments INSTANTLY and very cheap. There will likely also be ways to send transactions anonymously.
What good are then so many altcoins that all they are trying to achieve is, to send fast/anonymous payments?
One reason against Bitcoin is, that you will still have to pay(likely expensive) on-chain fees. anything else though?

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Is it possible to create PoS decentralized Lightning Network node(hub) And...
|
on: December 10, 2017, 10:15:01 PM
|
So my question is, is it possible to create a system that works on top of Lightning Network that is Proof of Stake. Users "stake" their bitcoins(which are used to open a payment channel and serve as collateral) and they collect the fees from transactions that are happening on this payment channel. (is this a side-chain?)
And the number two thing is; is it possible to create such system so people would be able to create a wallet on the lightning network itself. (To open a payment channel you have to pay a fee on the bitcoin chain). But what if you can not afford to pay the fee to open the channel. Could this be implemented on top of that "PoS" system that you can create wallets that would exist only on the PoS chain(but it would still be trustless and decentralized?->noone could take control of your coins?). So basically you would be an owner of Bitcoins without EVER transacting on the main chain, while still benefiting from the security of Bitcoin network(also relying on the security of PoS system as well)?
TLDR: My question is actually, could there be a blockchain-based-decentralized-trustless PoS Lightning network node("hub") on which you could create a wallet inside that system so you would theoretically own bitcoins, but you would never see them on-chain and never have to pay fees on the expensive bitcoin chain??

Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Where to get CoinAd invite?
|
on: November 04, 2017, 11:35:51 PM
|
So i'd like to become a publisher and earn money from ads on my website with CoinAd, but they require an invite... Could someone possibly hook me up with one, OR perhaps guide me where i could get one?
Since CoinAd is the highest paying Bitcoin ad network, they have strict website approval policy, new publishers are only accepted on an invite only basis. If your website is a faucet then it must have unique design, alexa rank should be under 100k, with over 100k daily page impressions. Or find someone who is willing to sell their website with CoinAd invite. Move this topic to microearnings section. Thank you very much. I am not under 100k(yet) so yeah... Thanks very much for the response. By the way- do you know if these faucets are actually making profit or are they at loss?
