1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is 2018 the most crucial year for bitcoin? on: March 28, 2018, 12:08:45 AM
I find it difficult to be so critical as it was last year. It was the first time we saw real conflict of interests on the Bitcoin network, among users, miners and developers. But at the end of the day, good decisions were made to bring very important protocol improvements.
This year we may have some controversy regarding Lightning Network, but it will not be as controversial as it was SegWit implementation.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost half of my crypto amount! what to do? on: March 27, 2018, 11:14:37 PM
So I basically got fomoed. Towards the end of 2017 I saw how high bitcoin skyrocketed and decided to invest in ripple as a test. Less than one week it went up 3x. This made me more ballsy and I put in 11k total in various other alt coins like ripple, ethos, tron, and cardano. After the crash I lost about half of my value just like that. I am frustrated with the experience and wish I would have just put in 1k or something. I wish I could just not invested and went into what I was doing earlier which was just investing the boring and traditional way. Should I wait and hodl or pull out and do something else?
If you passed through all of it, you should already know that this is not the best place to ask investment advice. Most users on this forum are promoting centralized shitcoins, like XRP, or coins with serious design flaws, like Ethereum.

All I can say to you is to find professional advice, if you don't want to lose more money.
3  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: If a country adopted bitcoin as their national currency, would the US still be a on: March 27, 2018, 11:04:26 PM
It would not be a reason for the US to make such a decision, there is no reason for them to let the decisions of other countries have such an impact in their economy.
The only way they would do that would be if US citizens themselves started using Bitcoin in most of their stores. That way, they would have no choice other than consider Bitcoin to be a legitimate currency.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's causing the dump ? on: March 27, 2018, 10:54:15 PM
I don't think it's anything related to the network itself, since there is no congestion, and fees are very low. So it's probably what someone said, supply not meeting demand, and it's probably due to the fact that there isn't much hype around Bitcoin these days.
No reason to panic, some sanity might be something good for Bitcoin in the long term.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin mining is so popular in Iceland? on: March 27, 2018, 10:48:39 PM
Iceland and Sweden are natural choices when it comes to cryptocurrency mining operations. Their inexpensive electricity and cold climate make mining friendlier naturally.
Know More: Why Bitcoin mining is so popular in Iceland?
Yes, all of these factors count. And it should be reasonable to add that the distance between you and the suppliers can also make a lot of difference, since shipping costs will have considerable impact in your budget.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is the best way to invest? on: March 27, 2018, 10:08:53 PM
If it isn't for the development of a product which aims to provide anonymity features, I can't see any reason to say it is better than an IPO, which has well defined regulations to prevent you from being scammed.

Even for an anon cryptocurrency, a distribution via PoW mining seems to be much more wide and fair than an ICO.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: March 27, 2018, 09:45:15 PM
It may not die too early, since we have algorithms like equihash that give some nice level of ASIC resistance to some of these cryptos.
But it looks like it's temporary... So in order to survive, these cryptos would need developers constantly introducing changes in the protocol, which brings centralization concerns.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It could take 2 years for the market to recover on: March 27, 2018, 09:25:47 PM
I wish I was joking but this market will take at least 2 years to recover and build momentum again.
I also suspect of that, but only if we see the market crashing below 3k or something. I don't think it's going to happen though. There are nice features being developed behind the scenes that could easily take Bitcoin to new highs.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: March 26, 2018, 02:28:29 AM

Too early man, the project doesn't start until we have the decentralization of those witnesses.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 21, 2018, 07:46:24 PM

Do you guys have already fixed the Segwit claim problem with the transition bot?HuhHuh?
Doesn't matter. Another promise broken...
If you were doubtful, don't announce it. Some people have bought GBYTE specifically for this airdrop, and are now royally screwed by the Byteball team (basically Tony).
AFAIK, it was stated by Tony that the last airdrop could be canceled or postponed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PHANTOM: A Scalable BlockDAG protocol (Creators of the Ghost Protocol) on: February 03, 2018, 09:13:33 PM
What is the distribution method?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins that might survive in the future? on: January 10, 2018, 02:16:25 PM
Everything that brings real innovation to the table has a chance. However, that alone is not enough, since some of these cryptos are in direct competition with Bitcoin, and some of these innovations can be implemented, at some point, in a Bitcoin sidechain.
Maybe coins with a very different structure, like DAG coins, might survive, since they're not competing with Bitcoin in mining. That said, I have high hopes for Bytes and Blackbytes.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin End World Poverty? on: December 22, 2017, 09:45:46 PM
No. Bitcoin can provide better conditions and new possibilities for people, but this alone is not enough. The proof of this is that there are still many poor people in countries with very good conditions. It's all about people's mindset.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 06, 2017, 07:18:05 AM
There is no reason for Byteball to pump right now. Let it grow organically, having a solid base is more important for long term performance.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: When is the right time to buy bitcoin ? on: November 16, 2017, 06:36:45 PM
It depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a quick profit, this is not a good moment to buy Bitcoin. However, if what you need is a safe store of value, I consider Bitcoin to be a good investment, even at current prices, because even if it goes down for the next few days, in the long term it will reverse, and it will probably go much higher.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strategy for Buying Alt coin on: October 16, 2017, 01:03:45 PM
The rule for alts is buy really low. I would not buy an alt if it isn't down 30% or more than that.
If you buy high and the price significantly drops, it's a very bad position. It's not like Bitcoin that you now there is a high chance that will recover at some point in the future.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Industry Experts Believe Bitcoin Headed to $6,000 on: October 15, 2017, 02:47:48 AM
I think it can go much higher if we pass the fork without much turmoil, maybe spiking at around $ 7000-7500, but I guess it would not hold at such prices.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Cashless society on: October 07, 2017, 11:50:28 PM
It would be a chaos, but people would not accept it anyway. It's kind of too late to implement something like this. You can not go to people and say that something they are holding and working for is worthless.

At the end of the day, people would also realize that it's just another attempt by banks to take control over society.
19  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitconnect likely to be a ponzi on: October 01, 2017, 11:13:40 AM
So, it's some kind of decentralized lending platform? How can this work without people giving real world identities?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 17, 2017, 08:05:47 PM
I do not trust this project anymore. Iīve got my first byteballs around 0.3 and the price is 0.6 now. They shouldnīt have reduced airdrop amounts for byteball holders. This was a mistake. Those who are holding huge amounts of BTC automatically became whales and dumped the price, and i donīt expect it to rise again.

I got in around the same price.  Hurts pretty bad.  Exchanges should have been excluded from the beginning.  No reason that Iconomi should have ever gotten any GB.  Giving these Whales such huge amounts and letting the interest compound for them was a huge mistake.  I hope new airdrop projects learn from this in the future.

Imagine how different the landscape would look if there was a limit placed at the beginning.  For instance, then maximum amount of BTC that could be credited for airdrop per wallet is 10 BTC or something.

What do you expect from a lopsided distribution? Giving BTC holders free bytes will never be a good idea. They will be the price resistance levels in the years to come.
It's better than an ICO.

Besides legal problems, it leads to more centralization and manipulation of the price. Sometimes developers themselves buy the whole supply...
