What will a Centrifuge parachain mean for the Polkadot ecosystem?

It has never been more clear that interoperability will be key for the future of blockchain, and the Polkadot parachains will be a massive leap in advancing the technology and eventually reaching mass adoption.

What is Pichiu (PCHU)?



We are very excited to share with you that… Kylin network has decided to launch on Kusama!
We want to introduce Pichiu, Kylin’s canary parachain on Kusama. The official Pichiu token symbol is PCHU.

Why Now?
For a very long time, we have said that we are aiming to launch directly on Polkadot to save time on managing two parachains.
However, the growing adoption of Kusama, and its ability to act as a currently ready implementation layer — right now — have changed the context of that initial plan. We will always prioritize a more rapid path to adoption and implementation of Kylin Network and DeData standards. Right now, the most rapid and robust path includes Kusama.

Kylin itself is now very close to completing the querying functionality of the data warehouse (i.e. v0) — we believe it makes sense now to launch a canary network and test out the integrations with our many partners both Polkadot based and others. We can only do that in the very near term via Kusama.

One of the major priorities of this path is to utilize the Kusama bridge to ETH to integrate our Solidity-based partners and offer our community the ability to provide data to them. This we feel will be of fundamental strategic importance as we have a multitude of partners sitting out in the ether (pun intended) and we want to be able to integrate them and test out integrations as much as possible. Ultimately, the traffic — in terms of real implementation paths — is currently on Kusama so it makes sense for us to have a presence there.

NEAR Launches Nightshade Sharding, Paving the Way for Mass Adoption



Today is a momentous day for the NEAR blockchain and the NEAR ecosystem: The launch of Simple Nightshade, the first step toward a fully sharded and secure blockchain.
Since NEAR released the design for the protocol back in 2019, it was always meant to be a sharded blockchain. However, when preparing for the launch in early 2020, we realized that there was no need to launch a completely sharded network.

Sharding is a very complex piece of technology — which we’ll be explaining in detail over the coming weeks on our Medium blog — and the network was brand new. It didn’t need to be capable of handling hundreds of millions of transactions at launch.

Since then, the average number of daily transactions has risen to more than 300k. With the emergence of more and more projects building on NEAR, the number of transactions is only going to increase in the coming months.

While the network is still currently using only 13% of the total capacity, we wanted to start the transition to sharding now to avoid any unpleasant surprises and ensure we can support all the applications on NEAR. Today is the start of that transition.

Three Arrows Leads $4.3M Round for Solana-Based Metaverse Project Solice

The metaverse is set to get a little more crowded as a new Solana-based startup has raised $4.3 million from leading venture capital firms.

Solice, a cross-platform PC and virtual reality (VR) game built in the mold of Decentraland and The Sandbox, announced the funding on Thursday. The round was led by Zhu Su’s Three Arrows Capital, DeFiance Capital and Animoca Brands. Alameda Research, Jump Capital, Genblock Capital, KuCoin Labs, Solar Eco Fund, CMS Holdings, Rarestone Capital and others also participated.

In an interview with CoinDesk, Solice founder Christian Zhang said that the game will feature a native currency, as well as game assets backed by non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The assets will also have in-game financialization elements.
