you bring some very good concerns about ranking and reputation. We had the same questions in mind when we designed these into Knoks platform. We try to look at ranking and reputation as two parameters and how they should affect the signal provider and their signals. One defines the min and max price for signal in a certain group (rank) while the other can affect where within that rank the price will be. I will call the person who shares the signal an OracleThe first idea that comes to mind is... what if... you add a third parameter, that measured the rate on which an Oracle receives ratings, that is basically hidden. We decrease the scale of the original example. This would work something like this: The platform has 100 users when the Oracle joins. And after the first signal is provided by the Oracle, if 10 more people join the network, and those 10 new people give the Oracle, a 5 star rating on it's first signal, the system keep that Oracle in a database dedicated for red-flagged Oracles. Obviously, this can't be implemented when the platform has only 20-30 users for obvious reasons. The database keeps in store a total of, lets say, 3 red-flags. After the 3rd red flag, it's obviously an issue. This way, even if it's a pure coincidence that the first 5 people who joined immediately after the Oracle, this can't happened 3 times in a row. Obviously, this implies a very strict emphasis on statistics, so the system doesn't automatically activate at any scale (especially in the beginning). Again, the red flag database should be hidden, because the scammer should not know he is being watched... that would make him bail before he faces the consequences. |

I have to admit the solution for point 2 is ingenious. On the point 3 tho...I guess the "statistical objective data" is represented by a set of automated rules (probably based on mathematics). Fair enough if so. But: One can convince or pay 1000 users to rate him 5 stars, but over time these 1000 fake reviews will be weeded out by the masses I will keep on the same example with 1000 payed 5 star ratings. My concern is that someone who tries to cheat the systems aren't in it for the long run. I obviously didn't see how the platform performs and I can't know how many users will be on it, but considering this 1000 fake ratings, even if the platform gets a medium level of adoption (on which basically the competition is on a bigger scale) a 1000 5 star reviews gives the cheater an edge in power, which can be used until the system...demotes him (not to mention the huge impact it would have in a small scale adoption). The solution implies a very big adoption as I understand, which is quite hard this days. Any solution to combat those who cheat in the early days of the project? |

So, a team with new (pssible fake) accounts on linkedin, some clip on vimeo which is made from stolen clips (for which I don't think you've paid copyright %), very blunt distribution of tokens displayed on the website and huge inexplicable ratings on 4 "ICO review websites"...
Based on nothing but... characters and web design, you ask for $0.20 per token, you also invoke $1,000,000 in bounties.
Ok... nothing fishy here...

nowadays there are so many altcoins in circulation,if we look at some of reviews, there are already thousands of altcoins, I want to ask you all, what are the best 3 altcoins reviews website in 2018? Sadly, this task depends on you. No matter how much money you have to invest, if you don't want to love them, you take 7 or 8 hours and verify everything you can about that project. You read the whitepaper, you search names of the team members, you search any history related to those people, etc. There's never going to be a unbiased website that can tell you this ICO = good, this ICO = bad. Maybe there is a chance for some blockchain project to resolve that, like Revain... but those are still far....faaar away. We need realistic use cases for crypto.... not the thousandth new ico with a healthcare/gambling/social-crap token. You're view is so narrowed by all the youtube and reddit brainwash that you don't seem to understand that the more they are, the more competitive the space becomes. Do you like where the private corporation sphere is now? Do you enjoy having 10-20 giant corporations that control the world? Do you think that applying the same logic for tokens as for companies like "why do we need so many companies that do the same thing" is a healthy thing? Yes, a lot of them are going to become 0 value (as many companies did), yes we don't need that many (at least for now) and yes, there are a lot of projects that basically don't know what to do with the funds they raise. But even the last point confirms a space of evolution because: 1. People who invest and get screwed learn from that and make better decisions along the way or stay away from this space entirely 2.Companies (and projects) who truly want to build something and get screwed, learn from that experience and come back with a better plan or the people involved gather experience that can help another company to avoid the mistakes they initially made. All the use cases are realistic, and if they are not, they can become realistic. Most of it depends on the people behind the certain project/ICO. We have multiple traditional companies that do the same thing, some are local, some are international. There are multiple traditional online casinos, and there are multiple "social-crap" websites. And if you are one of the guys who thinks about the same argument that any unexperienced person in crypto has "blockchains are not companies"...think again... With enough programming knowledge, you can make a smart-contract on Ethereum to do whatever you want it to do by just living a simple, hard to detect line of code in it. |

3. How is the system protecting the consumers from fake ratings... For example, let's say a guy convinces 1000 people to rate him with 5 starts and then starts to pump some random coin...

the vision and mission of the project is very interesting, and the project also has its own advantages that do not exist in other projects. and I think there is no doubt about the success of the project, because if all the teams are always hard at work very seriously, the target of this project could be accomplished easily. To be honest, this project is the one in which I am trying to get involved as much as possible. And it's kinda funny what made me do that but, to sum it up in a short sentence, it was the fact that it's easy to understand what the team wants to do, it is doable, the whitepaper as well as the presentation doesn't have flashy words and they don't abuse the ICO system to raise crazy amounts of money. |

You have been really engaged with the ICO scene with good feedback. ICOs and these ANN threads are a reality now and the sole purpose for a lot of new users. I have a feeling that you are an old, more experienced user and if you would share more, the newcomers would benefit from it.
Looking forward to better engaging posts from you. Merited an old post of yours. I am not really that old on the forum... I am just... poor... hungry for building a network of persons that are heavily involved in crypto... I am just doing my job, doing the translations, trying to control the BBCode to do what I want it to do and when all that is done, I am searching for projects, asking questions and.......... reporting spammers. I got passed the initial vision of "gainz"... I am pretty much passionate about crypto now... To be honest, in the last 2 months, I've completely ignored music (my main activity) and gone full 24/7 crypto... I am trying to convince people to join this space... I've pretty much spammed a friend (face to face) about crypto, because he knows how to code...he gave up and now he is trying to learn solidity and how the dApps work. And, thank you for the merit. |

I never spammed, scammed or whatever... All of my posts were geniune and if they were short and critical, it was because it was obvious.... I don't know how to use a bot and I never intended to...
I suppose whatever constructive and critical, very thoughtful posts I made in the past are not taken in consideration... of course...
