please advise

i have not followed the whole mtgox bullshit

is all of my money (btc/usd) gone? is there any chance of getting it back? if so how?

I'm sorry to tell you.  Most likely all your fiat and BTC on Gox is gone.

If by some miracle there is any restitution it will most likely take a very long time to see it.

Remember - all that matters in Bitcoin pricing is the going rate for only the coins on the exchanges.  The only impact one of those big cold wallets can have on price is downward if it is liquidated.  Those wallets not being touched is already priced into the exchange rate.

well said

If you're selling because you're worried it's going to go lower, remember that it's going lower because you're selling.

and also because everyone else is selling

take off your blinders pal

just for some luls

i left this afternoon at 3:30pm and when i got home i refreshed the page to find some of these gems:

We are going below $800.

Noobs, just because you want to buy in <$800 doesnt mean the market will follow your wish.

Thanks for panic selling.

If you don't buy right now your retarded. It won't get lower than this.

so 850 is the new floor imo.

We saw total panic tonight and yet once we approached 850 buyers started perking up.

How many times does Bitstamp need to bounce from 0.800 before people realize it's the new floor?  Roll Eyes Every bounce (3 so far) adds to the strength of the support, and it is already in the Titanium level, comparable to molecular's left nut.

Buying at 0.800 is better EV than buying at 1.000. From 1 it can go either way, but from 0.800 it always goes up, and the 10% probability not included in "always" is only that it will dip to 0.6 for a few hours. Nothing to be scared of.

another day another dead bear, this is wonderfull

dead bear?

the market is down $100 from the last day

100 whole dollars damn, how will we ever recover from such a crushing blow.

your original post should have read "another day another dead bull"

my response merely pointed out that the bears are winning this last day

but when someone points out your error you just change the subject. well done.

I'm a pro  Wink

welcome to the internet

you're a cluebie bitcoiner like the majority in this thread. at least you can relax knowing that you're not alone

this is just a correction and probably wouldn't even have happened if it wasn't for china.

lol, we'd still be at $150 if it weren't for china

I don't particularly believe one way or the other at the moment. Looking at the charts for the last few hours, the swings seem to be much wider than before, but it's pretty early to say.

What I'm getting at here is:

-The general consensus answer I've seen here is that speculation is good since it provides liquidity.
-Similarly, the general consensus answer seems to be that liquidity decreases volatility. (makes sense on the face of it)
-Ergo, increased speculation should lead to decreased volatility. And lo, we have a live experiment!

That's all, really. If my point was fuddled before, I apologize. It is late.

i think your conclusion is flawed. yes, speculation provides liquidity, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it increases it substantially enough to decrease volatility. plus, since the bitcoin market doesn't allow leverages shorting, the speculation can only come in on one side. so no matter what, there is an imbalance. there will be less liquidity for the buyers to get into positions

suppose you own a house and you need to sell, but there is only one buyer. this market is not very liquid at all. he will pay whatever he wants and you will meet him at his price. the market is illiquid and therefore price will be volatile.

'speculation' usually gets a bad rap in the press as being bad. but nothing is inherently bad or good. its simply supply and demand at work.

Smarter than you.... look at the charts stupid. We keep bouncing back and forth. Weak hands handing over to strong hands, mostly because of the zero fees.

You could always tryand prove me wrong though! But looking at your recent posts, I doubt I will need to check back on this.

i wasn't aware you could look at a chart and figure out who was the weak hand and who was the strong hand
