The fact is these arguments do not provide an answer to the actual request.

To the person with the tribal people, see the word "partial". If you guys don't want to play the game, it's fine.

Therein lies your problem, Atlas. This thread comes across as either an off-the-cuff game with poorly defined rules, or a serious wager that hasn't been carefully considered or defined.
1362  Economy / Goods / Re: BitBrew Promotion! on: October 14, 2011, 04:55:10 PM
Just got my first delivery.

Nice packaging and quick delivery to Europe.
I've no grinding machine at home yet so I didn't actually test the products, but the smells are quite promising.
Just got my manual grinder, an AeroPress and tested The Cup of Excellence(r) - Nicaragua. Very good coffee, recommended to all coffee enthusiasts. I usually drink coffee at work (done with a Jura grinder/brewer) only but I might very well change my morning breakfast routine now...

By the way I don't regret purchasing the AeroPress either : I could put it against a Bodum brewer and it clearly wins : there's more flavor in the cup and less hassle cleaning the AeroPress.

Thanks for this post, gyverlb. I've been looking for a good grinder to offer and was leaning toward the Bodum simply because my roaster has started carrying their products. I'll look into AeroPress now, however.

I'll be touring both hotels and the convention center Friday, October 21st if anyone wants to join me!

This is a great time to see what downtown San Antonio has to offer - great weather and no huge parades or parties on that particular day.
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your preferred arrival/departure dates for March convention. on: October 13, 2011, 10:17:47 AM
Update: There will be two blocks of hotel rooms. One starting on Friday night for $195/night at the smaller hotel two blocks away, and the other starting on Saturday night for $199/night at the nicer hotel right next door to the convention center. Both will include internet access in the guest rooms. Once I sign the contract, I'll post more details.

One idea that has been mentioned is a coffee stand... edd, do you think that can be set up?

You mean physically handing out cups of coffee? I'm sure someone could do it but I'm afraid I'm not planning a trip to Wall Street at the moment.

PM sent!

BTCinch is putting together some educational Bitcoin flyers to distribute at Occupy protests. Bruce Wagner will be teaching classes on Bitcoin at the NYC Occupy on Saturday mornings. We're hoping that these flyers will be a useful tool in the class, as they provide basic info as well as funds for the class to use for test transactions.

The flyer will be split into three sections:

  • What is Bitcoin?
Focus on P2P nature and Decentralization
  • Bitcoin recovery QR code/url
Student scans code, and is sent to recovery page for their Bitcoin
  • What to do with your Bitcoin
Highlight products/stores accepting Bitcoin. Bitmunchies is giving all protesters 20% off and donating 10BTC to the class fund. If any other merchants are willing to give the protesters a discount or donations, let us know! We have limited space, but would like to highlight a few (3?) different options.

We could use help with this effort in a few different ways. We can use constructive input on text/images for the flyer. We can use help with classes and/or handing out flyers at Occupy movements. You can also donate Bitcoin to be attached to flyers in two ways.

Donate via BTCinch: https://www.btcinch.com/sendbtc/?mkey=0cD%23Dxs0eXJLwL4u&curcy=BTC
Donation address: 13eVavx6CVVynp2CBRk3wAbkKVmTGEsPm4

100% of the donated funds will be distributed at Occupy protests. If there are any unclaimed funds at the end of this effort, we'll donate them to the Bitcoin faucet.

We're also looking for a way to get water and food to the protesters. If you are willing to help us distribute these, or donate helpful goods, please post here. We contacted Feed The Protest, but have not gotten a response yet.

bearbones,

If I give you a coupon code for BitBrew, would you be able to put it on the landing page supporters end up on after donating? Or is there another way you could get it to supporters?
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your preferred arrival/departure dates for March convention. on: October 12, 2011, 11:26:51 PM
Okay, I'm a bit surprised by how many are flexible about checking in on Saturday and checking out on Monday. Should we try to schedule something for Monday the 19th, as well? Any suggestions?
1369  Economy / Services / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 4 on: October 12, 2011, 06:36:02 PM
Looks like someone else already bid 2 slots @ 5btc each, but their are 8 slots you are selling...so I don't know if I can bid the same for other slots?

That's fine.

Probably the best strategy is to just bid what you want to pay. I'll sort it all out when the auction ends.

That sort of defeats the purpose of an auction, doesn't it?
1370  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Design Flaws of Bitcoin That Could Be Corrected in Another Digital Currency on: October 12, 2011, 01:05:26 PM
What type of flaws can't be addressed? If enough people agree on a solution, it shouldn't be difficult to simply fix the current system compared to creating a new one from scratch.

2 slots, 3 BTC each for BitBrew
1372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Your preferred arrival/departure dates for March convention. on: October 11, 2011, 07:07:49 PM
I've run into a little snag and wanted to get some feedback from everyone before signing a contract with the hotel for the weekend of the convention.

The plan is to hold the event March the 17th and 18th, Saturday and Sunday. Naturally, I assume most people would like to arrive on Friday so that they can go straight from their hotel room to the conference. The problem is, the hotel I've been dealing with, which is a very nice one right next door to the center, is sold out on Friday the 16th.

They have no problem holding the rooms for Saturday and Sunday night, but I don't know how many of you would be willing to head back home on a Monday. I'm considering just releasing the Sunday night rooms so that we aren't held responsible for them.

Now, here's an alternate proposal the hotel has made: we can reserve a block of 200 rooms at a sister property just 2 blocks away for Friday and Saturday night at the rate of $195 per night. This hotel isn't quite as luxurious as the first one and is a little farther away, but it is available at the most convenient times.

Of course, if I get a relatively evenly distributed array of responses, I'll just reserve two smaller blocks of rooms at both hotels.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

2 BTC for two slots for BitBrew.
1374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Assistance Needed for 2012 Bitcoin Convention - San Antonio, Texas on: October 10, 2011, 09:59:36 PM
Since it might prove difficult to fill three days, I've booked the exhibit hall for only two - March 17 & 18, 2012. Fortunately, they've agreed to only charge us for the space used (with some minimums, of course).

I believe the ads would be more effective if they were more than just text with a link. Even knowing there might be an interesting promotion, I forget to check it 9 times out of 10, at least, because it just blends into the background.
1376  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Unofficial BTC now on GLBSE on: October 10, 2011, 02:16:07 PM
Any updates?

I've been working on the convention website (http://www.bitcoinconvention2012.com/), just holding off on any announcements until I have more definite news. I should be receiving contracts from the hotel and venue today, as well as speaking to the center's audio/visual company regarding internet access for attendees and the requirements for streaming talks.

As a representative of UBTC, I've been in discussion with a few community members concerning possible partnerships that are very promising but, again, I don't want to count any chickens before they hatch.
1377  Other / Off-topic / Re: Creationists disbelieve in not just evolution, but now the periodic table. on: October 07, 2011, 03:43:00 AM
See? You haters left the Flying Spaghetti Monster believers outside of your little love fest. I don't believe they accept the periodic table as you know it (PTAYKI) either. They start with Sauceium and end at Durumanton, with a lot of weird Italian pasta words in the middle.

And theirs is served in a large concave dish, family style.

Pastafarians are used to being overlooked or dismissed as a "satire" religion. That's how we managed to stay underground for thousands of years, after all.

But, like Mohammed, we shall never know his face (Unless South Park makes an episode about Bitcoin)

L Ron Hubbard said Mohammed invented Islam merely to bring new trade to his city.

And L. Ron Hubbard is infallible.

I've got a 3.5 inch floppy drive and a heap of disks you can use for ensuring the security of your customer records.

I like the way you think, repentance. Would you consider taking over the position of Security Director? (Don't reply here, just PM me to maintain deniability. Better yet, publicly turn it down.  Wink )

For the love of Christ just let me play Bit-Fu when in between trades

Appealing to the Islamic market is another great idea, Bitcoin Porn.

You need a seal that boasts both a TOR onion url and an custom AOL Keyword

I agree. I'm currently bidding on Ebay for one.

And a spokesperson.

Bidding on one of those, too.
