So are you licenced to use My little pony graphics?

Pretty sure they're fan made vectors, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Update on Cryptsy stuff

I finally got in contact with my friend at cryptsy, he confirmed that they are indeed still running the v0.10.0.0-beta client and this is clearly the cause of all the issues.
He has made sure to let paul know he needs to update their client, so those issues should be fixed within a couple days.

Also, as far as I know, there's been no serious consideration or even a thought about setting up a fourth market with pennies. That's just a suggestion some people were making earlier in this thread that seems to have spread as a rumor. I agree that it may be a good idea to have an even lower valued coin then XPM as a market but a Proof of Stake coin is not the one for that job, much to unstable in both value and functionality.

Frankly I think they should redesign the entire exchange to remove "markets" and just let people trade directly on any currency pair, but that would be hell to setup with all these coins.

Yes, I'd given up trying to get in sync with cryptsy as they seem to be blocking direct client connections and refused to respond to any of my inquiries.
It's their responsibility to make sure they're in sync with the proper chain, not mine. If they refuse to actually do their job they can deal with the mess on their end.

Pennies need's an alert system that tell people to download the newest client.
Now that would be a innovative feature.

I wouldn't call that innovative, other coins already have that.
It would also require setting up an announcement server, which I have no desire of doing. At least not anytime soon.
I may set something up with twitter at some point if i can figure that out though.

Now need to fix some transfer issuees and stakes issuees.

Yeah, I'm working on it. Probably have something done  by the end of the week.

The stake issues have already been fixed though?

Is this in git yet?

Sorry, forgot to push it last night. It'll be in the 'stakefixfix' branch.

Pennies v0.10.2.1-abe released!
Download (Alt)

Changes:
 - Properly built as release instead of debug (doesn't need those ridiculously large files anymore)
 - New checkpoints
 - Minor splash screen modification (now you can read the bright yellow text at the bottom)
 - Released on MediaFire as well for those who can't access google (hopefully you can access this, I have no idea)

Let me know if this fixes your crashes for those who had that problem when it tries to connect. Don't forget to try wiping the blockchain first.

I found out why the extra dlls were required, I somehow accidentally compiled the debug version, woops

Accidentally? Have you seen the file names during upload?

QtCore4.dll and QtCore4d.dll

You forgot to strip files, its huge) looks like debug mode.

Yes, accidentally, i forgot to specify the makefile so it defaulted to debug. All i knew is that it wouldn't launch without those files, i didn't know why. I don't compile on windows often so I'm not really familiar with it.

Also, I completely missed that comment, there's a lot of stuff to read through on here. Probably woulda helped if I noticed that earlier.

I'm unsure if that's related to the issues people are having with it crashing when it gets connections as I have not had this issue.

I'm recompiling with some small changes and checkpoints as a release version, we'll see how that works out for you people having issues

Question to the chinese people: Can you access mediafire? I can upload the new wallet there as well.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 17, 2014, 07:56:14 PM

Here is one difference:
"version" : "v0.10.2.0-abe",
"version" : "v0.10.2.0-unk-abe",

Yeah, -unk is just added when somebody compiles from source and the compiler can't find the origin. In other words, the compiler couldn't find the git metadata.

My v0.10.2.0-abe wallet is taking forever to start up and when it is it consumes 25% of my processor.....
Anyone with the same issue?

Probably almost everyone, the blockchain is huge so it takes to long to boot and the network is a mess so it eats up all your cpu. Can't do anything about that right now.

catman,The total is still in rapid growth!

22:35:54  "moneysupply" : 40549500191757.00000000,
22:52:02  "moneysupply" : 40557125986656.00000000,

Ahahah, that's hardly rapid growth. That's crawling compared to what it was previously.

Ok guys, how does everyone think that we can make this coin viable again? It would be nice to at least get back our initial investments...The longer we wait the more likely that this coin and others like it will become too obsolete to profit from...I really like pennies, I have 15 billion at the moment and I would invest more if we could develop a plan of action...

I couldn't really give a damn about your "investments", you were a fool to invest in pennies and I feel no obligation to assist any of you in that regards.

The future of pennies is simple, as it was always intended it will be a play money. Something for parents/teachers to use to teach their children about cryptocurrencies and economics. Perhaps also for use as a tipping currency when you give someone your "two cents" or a "penny for their thoughts". That's it, that's all. The value should stay exactly how it is, at most it could be allowed to reach 1satoshi LTC again, nothing more.

No, I am serious, I want to think about ways to improve its chances, not just assume it's a complete failure. Several people have talked about the possibility of this coin being used as a base currency like PrimeCoin...why would that not work? I really want to know, I am not joking or being sarcastic...

Why the fuck would you ever think a broken, worthless cryptocurrency could ever be used as a base trading currency? How could you even ask a question this fucking idiotic? It's clunky, slow, broken, worthless, and for fucks sake it uses proof of stake. No one who even thinks about running an exchange would even try to consider that that might be a good idea.

@Everyone: The blockchain's still forked up. It's gonna take awhile (and probably a few more checkpoints) to get it all sorted out. And by "awhile" I mean awhile, not 5 minutes. This shit's gonna take time, lots of it.

Doin' the same in every Pennies thread on the web.  Don't even dignify his comments with a reply.  Whatever?

I've been ignoring him but he's getting exceedingly aggressive and i'm entirely clueless as to why he even cares at all, which kinda bothers me.

TO EVERYONE EXPERIENCING PENNIES CRASHES

I can't do anything to help you unless you pastebin me your debug.log files contents. First make sure you've updated to v0.10.2.0-abe and wiped your blockchain. If you happen to be running Windows XP, try not using a deprecated OS.

If it's displaying "(Out of Sync)" but you think you are synced you're probably fine, that's normal when a currency has recently gone through some blockchain issues. It will sort itself out eventually.

@Vlad: What exactly are you getting out of spamming my thread with your shit? I've already told these people that pennies are worthless, they're supposed to be, and everyone knows that. Is this just how you get your jollies or does this harassment somehow magically benefit you in some way?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 15, 2014, 11:43:45 AM
I moved away everything except the wallet.dat and as soon as the new client gets a connection it crashes. It works at first, but when it gets a connection it crashes soon after.
same for me

Pastebin your debug.log file for me.

Why is the zip 72MB?  Every other coin is < 10mb.

Try reading the post.

Will the github repo be updated as well?

The source is already updated (under the branch 'stakefixfix'). The pennies-qt repo has been removed for now because I can't push the new dll's to it, they're too big. Once i sort out what's up with that I might use that repo again, though it's really bad form to be using github for binaries in the first place.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 14, 2014, 10:23:35 PM
Pennies v0.10.2.0-abe will be uploaded here shortly: Google Drive

Changes:
-Fixed issue where old blocks where invalidated by stake changes
-Checkpoints to get everyone back on the same fork (synced with Cryptsy up to block 250000, hopefully)
-New stake values are significantly reduced (as was intended via the previous update)
-Small cleanup of superfluous files (folder: qt-copy)

Notes:
-You may have to remove your current blockchain from your appdata and resync from scratch
-You will likely end up with a lot of dead transactions from a bad fork
-You may still have a few lost transaction between you and cryptsy, you will have to talk with them about it, i can't help you.
-There's two more, noticeably large, Qt*.dll files included in the wallet. I have no idea why but the latest build requires them. We'll figure this out soon.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reward .5 btc for the return of 11 bitcoins stolen from openex on: January 14, 2014, 05:05:32 AM
Out of curiosity, why would the thief return them for significantly less money? (just trying to play devils advocate, I hope you do get them back).

I think he's hoping the attacker feels guilty. He/she probably doesn't.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 14, 2014, 03:53:46 AM
Why isn't your ignore button glowing like it should?

I coulda sworn it used to, but I never ignore anyone anyway, at least not through forum mechanics.

Anyway, i'm rebuilding the client with new checkpoints and whatnot, I seem to be synced up with cryptsy so all should be good. I'll be providing instructions for some common issues that might arise when it's ready. (v0.10.2.0-abe)
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 13, 2014, 07:58:49 PM
This is new, pennies staked and have 12+ confirms and then suddenly are orphaned after having been in the wallet for 20+ minutes. Very strange... Angry
For your aknowledge, stakes are not genereting and savings are going down, I've lost 200billions doing nothing...

Yeah, that's what happens when a PoS coin is forked to hell and back. Lots of orphans, loss of profits.
I might have to give up trying to get synced with cryptsy's chain and just set checkpoints for my own and let cryptsy deal with the aftermath of lost transactions.
They should have enough stake to cover their ass anyway.

Also keep in mind Jakal, that stake values are supposed to be decreasing, that was the whole point of the update.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RazorLove Cryptocurrency Services - DBL, CENT, & FOO/BAR Updates on: January 13, 2014, 12:20:25 AM
Yeah, the compiled version, as I've already said, is not complete. This is my debugging testing build with all the important fixes and nothing else (such as the version numbering). Soon as I get some checkpoints squared away I'll release the pretty version.
