2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Can two computers use the same wallet keys concurrently? on: June 03, 2013, 07:46:06 PM
I know I can't double money, but theoretically I think this should be possible, as a redundancy. Does anyone have experiences with that?

How do I get a couple more? Still taking orders for that 2nd batch?

I would also be interested in an other batch.

I'm giddy as a schoolboy. Just got all my USB Block Erupters set up and hashing. Just had to share this here.

What's the combined power draw of all these together?

settings for mining BTC? ... thread concurrency, shaders, ...

Those aren't settings for BTC mining.

Thanks for trying to help, anyone else?

Does anyone have the link to the CGmimer fine tuning settings for mining BTC? I used the search but could not find it. It's the one around thread concurrency, shaders, worksizes and their factors.
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Pictures of fried/burnt hardware, post pictures, please! on: May 31, 2013, 01:06:16 PM
As we do already have a gallery of mining rigs, we do also need a gallery of burnt hardware, I think. I just came to that idea since I fried my power supply. It started with black screens after mining a couple hours, then today slightly smelling burnt - I sat next to the computer and was just thinking when I will get to hear the PLOFF sound - then it happened and turned of the rig. So far nothing seriously happened. I opened the PSU but could not find a distinct defect.

But maybe you have a better story and pictures around faulty hardware.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CGMiner 3.1.0 built under linux, then segfault on execution on: May 30, 2013, 08:23:14 PM
Hi Christian,

Could you eventually reproduce this error and do you have a resolution for this? I experience the same message with OpenSuSE 12.2 and CGminer 3.1.0.

aticonfig --lsa recognizes my two graphi9cs cards OK, configure and make install do also work flawlessly.

Thanks

Technically, Scrypt-based coins tend to do better on CPU's (though still not great).

Comparatively:
Phenom II X4 965 gets about 11 MHashes for BTC (SHA256) mining, a 7870 card gets about 400 MHash. In this, the video card gets 36x what the CPU does.

Same thing on Scrypt (LTC and such):
Phenom II X4 965 gets about 25 KHashes for LTC (Scrypt) mining, a 7870 card gets about 385 KHash. In this, the video card gets 15x what the CPU does.

Choosing a coin: http://dustcoin.com/mining  and http://www.coinchoose.com/  both will say if they're either SHA256 or Scrypt.

All right thanks for the input, I will put all effort into down-clocking my S754 Sempron 1400MHz CPU, any mining on that will cost more money in electrictiy than it can generate.  Cheesy

Another question: I use cgminer for mining, but when I connected to the mine, it always shows “GPU0: Invalid Nonce HW error”, about 50% of how much I accepted. I wonder if there is any thing wrong with my graphic card? And why it happens so frequently....
I think that this may not be related to the pool. It's possible that your GPU is overheating or it's overclocked. Please check the temperature of your card's GPU and VRM. If it's not overheated then it may be not in the best possible shape.
Sapphire 6870 toxic graphic card
When it's mining, the temp is about 82 ℃ and the GPU clock is 970 mhz, I try to underclock it to 900 mhz, but it seems to be useless.....
It also appears when I connect to BTCGuild.

From my experience I can tell you this must be a hardware defect or may be an incompatibility. I have an XFX 6850 that shows the same symptom, Windows or X-Server graphics are always OK. I simply replaced it with a 7850 and whooha without changing anything in the software or drivers it worked perfectly.

I know someone that does 0.04 BTC per day with 2x HD7870 at 1050MHz or better said 408 MH/s each.

Hi Folks,

I think a thread like this will be really interesting that sits on a pile Bitcoins. Exchanging BTC for money is obvious but what real world purchase did you already do?

State where you are from and what you purchased for your coins. Potentially you also might want to share the link to the seller-homepage, shop whatsoever.

Cheers

Nice case or stand! You should sell these if you can manufacture these at lower costs, this is potentially more profitable than mining.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Which alternate coins on: May 01, 2013, 08:26:14 AM
Hi,

I'm pretty new to mining, just 4 weeks. I'm mining BTC on GPUs, now I wonder which other coins would be attractive, technically and market-wise, to be mined on the cpu. Any recommendations? Terracoins, LTC, etc.

Thanks
