1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you are Satoshi Millionaire? on: November 04, 2020, 02:49:24 PM
More and more people will start counting BTC wealth in sats.
Do you guys think we'll reach parity with the USD soon?
Either way it's great that satoshis are now the measurement and not mbtc.
Im from south africa and I saw that a company is running a competition called "Satoshi Millionaire". It's a clever marketing angle but i think some people are going to be disappointed Smiley

2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mainstream businesses/stores which accept Lightning Network payments? on: January 05, 2020, 12:30:42 PM
Adoption is still low for LN. There are a few early stage directories I have seen but nothing really comprehensive. When adoption increases directories will get better. When UX improves adoption will improve. The average person doesn't want to know how LN works, just be able to take out their phone and pay
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin will move up if there is a war with Iran on: January 05, 2020, 12:15:58 PM
I don't think a specific war will directly help Bitcoin price. But every time there is a war people question government and their leadership. The same with financial crisis. This causes people to think about the way the world works and some of them then go on to discover Bitcoin. So I think all bad global events ultimately indirectly lead to more Bitcoin adoption as people understand there is a better way to govern. At least as far as money i concerned.
4  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 05, 2020, 12:09:53 PM
I've been thinking about this more and it has really got me going down the rabbit hole.
For years I thought about how to make small DOLLAR payments using Bitcoin. But start valuing Bitcoin more we will see a world of sub-dollar payments emerge. Essentially creating more spending power not just in price increase terms vs USD but in a new found appreciation of money in general. Just a thought
5  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 02, 2020, 01:28:26 PM
This happened in 2018; https://bitcoinist.com/lightning-network-black-swan-cryptograffiti/

It's more like a solid piece of marketing, because if such an auction was to be held today, with Lightning being much more adopted, it potentially would fetch a couple of hundred dollars.

Thanks for the correction. I totally missed that. It even says 2018 on the LN invoice Sad
Still a very cool piece and great piece of marketing for LN.
6  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 02, 2020, 01:24:28 PM
$0.000000037? How much it's in Bitcoin? I'm not very familiar with Lightning Network yet, so I didn't knew that's possible to send such tiny payments using it.
And it would be interesting to know dimensions of this artwork. It looks so tiny and requires a lot of precision and patience to make it. Probably it's worth at least few hundreds bucks.

A bit larger than a postage stamp!
7  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 02, 2020, 01:22:09 PM
Actually, I have seen that use case of this before but not with this one. The cost of cup of coffee suits the payment of LN but with this you're right that this is one good example of the use for LN/micro transactions.

But why is it that art work costs not that much? looking at the picture of the painting, I think it costs more.

It's definitely worth more. And in time will probably become an expensive collectible. It's the fact that it was so cheap that got the publicity. And the publicity is worth a lot more to the artist than the 100s or 1000s he could have got for it.
Great marketing!
8  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 02, 2020, 01:20:21 PM

Its really good on the feels that theres already some recognition for LN and it do proves out on making transaction as smallest as possible.

This is actually a nice way of advertising in regards how this thing works which would possibly waking up some interest for those people who able to see such artwork.
We would see more adoption for sure and its clear that adoption is on the process.

I agree completely! Explaining LN possibilities is a bit ethereal for most people. Real world use case is the best explanation.
9  Economy / Goods / Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 01, 2020, 08:19:04 AM
I saw the Black Swan art piece was sold yesterday by Cryptograffiti on LN for $0.000000037.
Firstly super cool piece made from a 1 dollar bill.
Secondly this is one of the best real world examples of micro payments in Bitcoin I've seen.
Highly recommended to check it out blog post about the black swan art piece
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: TOP 10 Best Bitcoin Gambling websites on: December 29, 2019, 11:42:55 AM
I think esports and blockchain or bitcoin betting is going to explode, just the question is when. The overlap of demographics plus the growth seen in both makes for ann obvious and fruitful partnership down the road. A few have tried but I haven't seen anything that really took advantage of it yet. In terms os casinos et al there are a lot and a lot of review sites. Here's a list from more recently that looks like it actually tried the different brands out https://hodlhard.io/resources-and-reviews/bitcoin-gambling-sites/

We have partnered with Deadcoins.com to be able to get a better view of the failed projects landscape.
This is a long term partnership which will also help users of the Deadcoins community to feed directly into CoinJanitor.
Here is the release of the partnership but watch this space for more info as it unfolds https://www.coinjanitor.io/news/coinjanitor-and-deadcoins-com-join-forces-to-clean-up-crypto/

I just got back from the iCoin Summit in cyprus where we took part in a live ICO battle!
This is the first time I did something like this and I will try post the video.
We didn't win but we placed #5 out of 74 ICOs!
Top 10% is a great result, especially for a project that is unique.

Big shoutout for CoinJanitor in Bitcoin Garden Forum Newsletter (Issue #22, May 02)

Quote
COIN JANITOR: Let's clean up cryptocurrency and restore lost value to the crypto economy! The idea is a bit crazy but pretty unique, and completely makes sense. CoinJanitor is a community-driven project that aims to unlock value trapped in failed coins. With more than 4,500 cryptocurrencies in circulation, and only about 1,500 available on major exchanges, there are thousands of coins that are holding value up in a way that cannot be transferred into the markets. Furthermore, many of these projects have failed to achieve their goals or have failed to achieve the network effect they needed to thrive. CoinJanitor will offer users, creators and community members who have trapped value in those projects, a way to transfer their value out of those blockchains. For those interested in the project, there's also an interesting bounty campaign you may want to check. You can read all details in the official thread...

If you're not subscribed, you can read it in the archives: https://bitcoingarden.org/forum/index.php?topic=35915.0

Thumbs up for this project. I love it.

Thanks S3cco, I appreciate all the support!
And for anyone in Garden we have an ANN thread there too.

the CoinJanitor project is interesting and has good planning. Ico has been opened, hopefully in its development will be many investors who are interested and support your project to success.

Thanks for the support! Right now it's about spreading the word and getting people to be part of the community.
