Cristiano Ronaldo keeps downplaying Portugal's chances for the World Cup. But honestly, I think they have the best squad out there really. Just look at the three key guys who literally carried their team to the Champions League trophy recently. they're all in this lineup.
To me, it's just a massive ego trip. He’s already making excuses so he can blame the weak squad if they get knocked out. He’s basically just covering his own back.
That's the right thing to do if you ask me and am commending Christiano Ronaldo for displaying such a good sense of humour by down playing Portugal's chances in the forthcoming World Cup so as to keep the pressure off the team before the tournament officially kicks off next year. Nevertheless, Portugal is one of the favourites in my opinion, no doubt they are going to go far in the world though am not sure if they would turn out to win it but am guessing they might make it to the semis if luck smiles on them this time.

Cristiano Ronaldo is almost 41 but i’m sure he will score 1000 goals because he is physically very strong. Portugal has a great squad for the 2026 World Cup too. Ronaldo says world cup is not his priority but he is just saying that. He knows he needs that trophy to be the goat against Messi. Because of this he will push himself for the World Cup. But I think this might actually hurt the Portuguese national team. His obsession with the trophy could become a problem.

Today Liverpool weren't convincing enough. Not even a clean sheet and struggled quite much to keep the advantage on themselves. Wolves had an xG over 1.00 but wasted their chances.

However they might still stay in top 4 depending on Chelsea. Now there is a game ongoing between Chelsea and Aston Villa. I wish Maresca's club a good game and a win for them. Go Blues!  Cool

My friend Liverpool don’t need to be convincing enough what they need is to win their matches, they desperately need all three points and they got it that is all that matters. Liverpool are trying and they’re improving even if they’re grinding it out and today Florian Wirtz got on the scoresheet that’s a plus for them.
Right now they’re sitting pretty at 4th no matter the outcome of Chelsea game and even now the Chelsea you praised and cheered is playing a draw and might even lose.
Arsenal performed well today and they are giving champions vibe I wish they succeed.

Actually Liverpool’s squad is very good but they don't play as a team this season. They have great power, normally they shouldn't be 10 points behind the top. If Wirtz played like this from the start and Salah didn't have problems, Liverpool would be in the title race right now.
I’m very happy for Florian Wirtz's first goal in Liverpool. He is a huge talent. found his first goal a bit late but he is adapting slowly. Also Ekitike is getting his confidence back.

He has a huge desire, but physically he can no longer keep up with the tempo that is being demanded. He wants to be the main man in the team, but at the moment there are many better players who are eager for their chance. Of course, Ronaldo is the captain and always will be, but let’s be honest , at 40 years old, it’s very difficult for him to contribute significantly to the team.In my opinion, Portugal is one of the main favorites to win the tournament, and i’m glad that Cristiano Ronaldo will be there. However, the opportunity should definitely be given to younger, faster players. Ronaldo can pass on his experience, which is the most important thing in competitions like this.

I agree. In fact Portugal’s squad is so good that they could go far even with just an above average striker. But a 41 year old Ronaldo will want to play even if it means dragging the team down. In my opinion, Ronaldo is the main obstacle to Portugal's success. The alternative right now is Ramos, but he’s not playing regularly at PSG. If he moves to a club where he can play consistently, Portugal’s chances of winning the title would increase significantly.

True. Aston Villa is on a 11 match winning streak including 6 big games and 3 against the league's heavy hitters. I don't think anyone can ignore them at this point.
But honestly Chelsea deserved to win this one. They dominated the pitch for nearly the whole game. If they'd been given that blatant penalty, it would’ve been a completely different story.

If we compare it based on statistics yes Chelsea deserved to win, but if we compare it based on accuracy then Aston Villa also deserved to win. Imagine 9 out of 12 shots are on target while Chelsea only 4 of 15 shots well from here we can see the differences between the two teams. It must be admitted that Aston Villa is the main focus in the Premier League at the moment for their extraordinary achievements and consistency, we are still waiting to see how far they can go in the top 3 or even with a winning streak.

Watching the game, Chelsea seemed to have more control but I can't argue with your point. Efficiency is why they won. Beating Chelsea at their own ground is a hard job. so fair play to Aston Villa. After the first five weeks i was thinking they were going down but based on the last ten, they look like title contenders. Emery is the real deal there.

Can we continue to ignore Aston Villa in the title discussion, not anymore if you ask me, i think they have done enough to be regarded as title contenders alongside City and Arsenal. That said, if they beat Arsenal in mid-week, then they will definitely cement their place in the shout for the title.

Enzo Maresca may be under a little pressure right now, they have had a really bad run in the last month or so. Chelsea are now in 5th position, same points as Manchester United (29), and not many people expected this to be the case with how the season started for the Red Devils.

I think Newcastle United also have a shot. According to transfermarkt data they are currently one of the top 10 most valuable squads in the world. If they’ve reached this level without even having any proper Champions League success yet it's not hard to imagine where they'll be later. They have massive potential and it definitely wouldn't surprise me if they beat Manchester United.

You were right about it. Newcastle lost anyway though but they challenged hard! They had the match under control in terms of ball possession. They passed many more but still couldn't score even a single goal.

I knew I took a big risk by betting on Manchester United as they didn't have Bruno Fernandes. Not only him of course. A few more players were also out due to AFCON. But they still made it. Dorgu scored even though he played as RW which isn't a so familiar position for him in his career.

I couldnt dare to bet on this match. Newcastle was the stronger team for sure but it was an away game and hard to predict.
Btw AFCON is a total nightmare. It's causing massive problems in my country’s league as well. The top teams can't even use 4 or 5 of their starting 11 players and trying to build a squad with those absences is incredibly difficult. It really brings down the quality of both European and domestic leagues.

I was quite surprised when I found out that Amorim played 4 defenders in his strategy. I thought he was a very stubborn person, but it turns out he can overcome his ego for the sake of his team. It wasn't their best performance, but at least things worked out, and most encouragingly, they managed to get 3 points at home. It seems Amorim realized that playing Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro as starters simultaneously was a risk, which is why he benched Yoro against Newcastle. The second half was really tense, especially after Amorim chose to take off Casemiro and Sesko, Man United really got tremendous pressure from Newcastle.
Amorim decision to deploy a back four proved to be the right one, with the defense appearing solid and better prepared to withstand Newcastle onslaught. Ayden Heaven and Lisandro Martinez were more alert in guarding United's defense, while Lammens was also able to thwart Newcastle attempts to score. Admittedly, this wasn't one of Man United best matches, but this time Amorim was truly able to devise a strategy that made the players perform better despite being without several key players who were injured. This kind of defensive ability must be maintained if United wants to reach the top four soon, now the goal is almost achieved after successfully catching up with Chelsea's points collected, they only hope their rivals lose to Aston Villa so that the gap between the two is no longer there.

I think Amorim is a good tactician and has the technical know how to secure a better lead. However, his players like instead of breaking the opponent's resistance with short passes when they have the lead they prefer long balls and effectively giving the ball away. That is why Newcastle dominated the second half completely  Smiley

This is as much Rockets success as Lakers problems. Lakers started the season great but they have been looking terrible for a while now, ben nearly two weeks and I think it's not going to end well for them if they keep this up. Their offense is looking much worse and nobody does that great anymore.

There was a moment in time when Doncic did better, Reaves was second scorer and did great and Lebron just facilitated and helped the team and scored when needed. When you look at it today, all of them are doing much worse.

Every team has its losing streak, and the Lakers are no exception. The main thing is that it doesn't drag on, and they finish the regular season in a comfortable spot in the standings.
It's also worth noting that Reaves has a calf strain and will be out for at least four weeks. So Luka and LeBron will have to work harder to at least maintain their current spot in the standings.

The Lakers chemistry is still a work in progress. They still need time. They are lucky because the first 29 games of the schedule were easy. The schedule really helped them so their bad performance didn't attract much attention. But especially the defense is really weak. There is no defensive players in the starting five.

Jokic has truly entered God mode. A stat line of 56 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists is an absolutely massive performance. Denver managed to pull out the win despite missing three starters but the game was a total back and forth affair. The Wolves pushed them to the limit. Btw Edwards put on a spectacular show as well.
I still can’t believe how that game flipped.

In the 4th, the Nuggets were up big, then the Wolves went on a run and Edwards hit that tying shot to force overtime, that was really impressive.

Then in OT, IIRC, the Wolves were up by around 10, and suddenly the Nuggets had their own run and still managed to come back and win.
Edwards was clearly too emotional, he couldn’t control it and ended up with two techs and got ejected. The game could’ve been even better if he stayed in until the end.

Yeah Wolves were chasing the lead all night, they were even leading in the closing minutes. Edwards was playing out of his mind but he just lost it at the end. Between messing with Jokic’s free throws and getting thrown out after a dunk it was such a weird vibe. Seriously crazy game.

Denver had built a great lead in the third quarter, but Minnesota played a fantastic fourth quarter and took the game to overtime. 115-115
Jokic, as we know, got another triple-double and is taking his performance to an even higher level. If the game goes to overtime again, Jokic could break his career record.

I was surprised Oklahoma lost to San Antonio for the second time.
SGA was a bit ineffective in terms of scoring in this game.

Sometimes games like that happen.

Houston beat the Los Angeles Lakers. Doncic seemed to have lost some concentration after going back and forth to his hometown.

Maybe it's just me.

Udoka always tries to hold the players responsible for every loss and i really dislike this habbit of him. He needs to accept that he is just as much at fault as the players are. Blaming the players is the easy way out. In every defeat, he finds a different player to blame. one day it’s Alperen for missing the final shot, another day it’s Kevin Durant not taking responsibility, or the rookie Sheppard failing to hit his shots or it’s Fred VanVleet’s injury. The reality is that the team is in a major slump and instead of pulling them together, the coach is killing their motivation. In the last game not even putting Alperen and KD on the floor during the fourth quarter will definitely have a negative impact on the players.
It's the minutes man, it's so clear. I do not know why, maybe he lost some players to injury before or something, or maybe it's Pop that rested even Tim Duncan back in the day which made Udoka be like this, after all he is pupil of Greg Pop and that means he learned resting from him.

So the moment Rockets look like they will win, he takes out ALL good players, and suddenly the bench is playing "garbage time" at third quarter. That's now how it works, if you want to rest players, you gotta wait until last quarter and even more.

Yes, but why? It's strange, isn't it? When the team is performing so well, they suddenly start losing to bottom tier teams for whatever reason and fail to close out games. While all this is happening the star players who were driving force behind that previous good form aren't being given enough playing time by the coach. Isn't it obvious that Udoka is making a mistake?

I expected Houston to lose, but they easily beat the Los Angeles Lakers.
I'm noticing a significant drop in Alperen's scoring contribution. His name was mentioned in trade rumors. When asked about the trade, he said he wasn't affected and was having a good season, but I think he was negatively impacted. He scored very few points in away games.

He played 31 minutes in the Los Angeles Lakers game, but I think his scoring contribution was minimal. With this win, Houston has won two out of six away games.

I think there has been a talk between Alperen his teammates and the coach. Especially because of Fred's injury, Alperen was organizing the offense, handling the ball both at the top of the key and in the post while simultaneously producing points, assists and rebounds.
Imo perhaps at KD’s request, Udoka is trying to pull Alperen back into a more classic center role.

Meanwhile, Houston comfortably defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 96-119 to conclude their road trip with a victory.

Rockets handled the Lakers way easier than I expected. By the way Sheppard has zero floor general vision. He’s a bucket for sure but he’s nowhere near being a playmaker, at least for now. He’s got tunnel vision for the rim and only kicks it out when he’s stuck. As long as he puts up numbers, people might look past it but the Rockets are in trouble until FVV gets back.

Fenerbahçe won, but Anadolu Efes lost in overtime after leading for a long period. It would have been one thing if they had lost to a team with aspirations, but losing to Asvel, a team whose reasons for being in the Euroleague are unclear, is bad. Laso is a good coach. He doesn't have a magic wand, after all. Anadolu Efes needs to make good transfers. Larkin's absence is negatively affecting the team. There's already a backlash against İsmail Şenol on social media. Anadolu Efes management may terminate İsmail Şenol's management soon. He also contributed to these poor coaching choices.

I can't understand how İsmail Şenol, who previously worked as a basketball commentator, ended up in a management position at a team like Anadolu Efes. I don't know if he had any influence on transfers, but his name has started appearing frequently on social media. Perhaps he's knowledgeable and talented, but since he lacks management experience, it's quite normal for him to be criticized when things go wrong. If Anadolu Efes recovers and regains its former form in the remaining time, many things will be forgotten, but if the negativity continues, İsmail may have to return to basketball commentary at the end of the season.

In every sense, LDLC ASVEL is the weakest team in the league. I thought this would be a game where Efes could make a leap but it turned into a very poor performance. In my opinion Efes’s season was already over the moment they sacked Luca Banchi. Why would you fire a coach who knows the team and who built and stabilized it....

The only match tomorrow is between Manchester United and Newcastle which is the opening for the next round. As it's at Old Trafford this gives a significant advantage to Amorim's team. But their defense still makes me worried...

Newcastle are really bad in away matches though. Only 1 win in 8 matches this season. This encourages me to bet on Manchester United to win honestly. 2.51 odds look delicious. I think they will win by a gap of one goal.

I see no big deal in giving Manchester united straight win on that game know matter the 2.51 odd given to Manchester united, i see it as a free odd to all gamblers and lovers of Manchester united. Manchester united may have suffered a terrible defeat against Aston villa in there last premier league game but a lost to Newcastle united at old Trafford is what i can't see coming on that game so soon. Newcastle uniteds performance this season can never be compared to that of Manchester united in all ramifications, so a win to Manchester united is the outcome to expect on the game

I think Newcastle United also have a shot. According to transfermarkt data they are currently one of the top 10 most valuable squads in the world. If they’ve reached this level without even having any proper Champions League success yet it's not hard to imagine where they'll be later.
