Coinbase CEO Says Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Must Evolve to Reach Mass Adoption & other BTC news

Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgm7-E3hrHg&feature=youtu.be

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong thinks Bitcoin and crypto must evolve and become easier to use before widespread adoption can take place.

In a new interview with Peter McCormack, the host of the What Bitcoin Did podcast, Armstrong, who co-founded the leading US crypto exchange, says BTC needs to follow the internet’s lead in terms of usability.

“We have not taken any unnecessary risks with [Bitcoin], and we have ensured that it is going to probably survive the test of time as the gold standard, and we may find other solutions with scalability with layer two. I guess the other way to look at it is, ‘What would have happened if we had found a way to safely scale it?’ Maybe we would not have had a need for some of these other chains that have come up and divided focus.

This is absolutely true. However, we should know that there is a long way ahead of us before bitcoin can reach mass adoption.
There are certain factors that contributes to this.
First, so many are scared of the volatility of bitcoin. People got burnt in 2018 when bitcoin rose to it's peak in late 2017 and gradually dwindled. Such people would be reluctant to get back in and with them many they would have dissuaded.
Secondly, many people consider bitcoin only as a digital asset. Until everyone sees bitcoin as a means of payment can it reach mass adoption
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian tool will make your transactions transparent on: August 21, 2020, 07:07:36 PM
Although this will help reduce scam and fraudulent activities, it will drastically reduce the privacy users have in making transactions.
It is noteworthy to know that one of the characteristics of bitcoin that led to its adoption is the fact it provides anonymity for users.
If that is removed, it is impossible to know what the future holds for bitcoin.
683  Economy / Economics / Re: What Role Will Crypto Play During ‘The Great Reset?’ on: August 21, 2020, 05:37:20 PM
The pandemic has opened the eyes of so many people. Many now see that there is need for a decentralized system of money as so many countries economy are failing drastically.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies at large will help save a lot of people who have their money in crypto as it's not affected by a country's economy.
There is need for more people to adopt crypto as this is the future.
684  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Those reliable exchanges on the market on: August 20, 2020, 08:20:06 PM
In recent years, I have often seen people being scammed by mistakenly choosing fake platforms when investing in cryptocurrencies. Therefore, I have compiled some reliable cryptocurrency exchanges , hoping that similar things will not happen again.

1.Huobi

It was originally the most popular cryptocurrency exchange in China, but as the China government tightened restrictions on cryptocurrencies, it shifted its main business scope overseas.

Huobi provides nearly 400 cryptocurrencies for investment, with an average daily trading volume of up to $5.1 billion. It has its own cryptocurrency: Huobi (HT).

There is a risk fund inside. If the platform is compromised by hackers and the customer suffers losses, the fund will be used to compensate the customer.

Huobi's official website: https://www.huobi.com/en-us/

2. Binance

As the cryptocurrency exchange with the largest trading volume on the market today, the average daily trading volume can reach 5.4 billion US dollars.

Binance provides nearly 400 cryptocurrencies for investment, with the leverage up to 125 times, but please use it carefully according to your personal situation!

It has been attacked by hackers before(no customers were victimized at the time), so now its users have related insurance and can be compensated when their rights are damaged due to the invasion.

Binance's official website: https://www.binance.com/en

Remarks: 7/14 is the third anniversary of Binance, and there will be a promotional event of 20% lifetime fee reduction. Anyone interested can visit this website:https://medium.com/@ryan19850322/d79830abe039

3. OKEx

OKEx is one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, it's average daily trading volume could reach 1.78 billion US dollars.

There are 385 cryptocurrencies available for investment on the platform, and up to 100 times leverage can be used, but please use leverage carefully according to your personal circumstances.

There is a page on its official website that teachs some knowledge about cryptocurrencies.

4. Coinbase

Coinbase is the first pioneer to provide cryptocurrency trading services, it's main business direction is to comply with local regulatory regulations.

By that means, Coinbase successfully gain the European, American, and Asian markets, even Japan, well known for it's strict regulations on cryptocurrencies, allows Coinbase to enter its market.

Coinbase supports less cryptocurrencies than other exchanges, there are only about 60 options available for investment, and the average daily trading volume can reach 300 million US dollars.

Coinbase also have cooperated with Visa to launch Coinbase Card, which can be added to Goole Pay, can use cryptocurrency to purchase daily necessities in 14 European countries, including the United Kingdom, which also shows that its security has been recognized by Google.

At the same time, Coinbase also has a remarkable performance in the blockchain. In February this year, it was selected as the Fortune 50 blockchain. Others included in the list include Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, etc.

5.BitMEX

Unlike other exchanges, BitMEX provides bitcoin "futures" trading, with an average daily trading volume of up to 3 billion US dollars, far exceeding the Chicago Currency Exchange's cryptocurrency futures trading volume.

There is a 0.025% feedback on the pending order itself. When you place an order (an order that cannot be transacted immediately), you will get 0.025% of the rebate. If you buy immediately, you will need to pay a handling fee of 0.075%.

It should be noted that the platform's own withdrawals, deposits and contract settlement only support Bitcoin.

BitMEX's official website: https://www.bitmex.com/

This is a great compilation which is useful for traders especially new traders. I'm personally grateful for this.
I've been using binance for a while and I can say it's a great exchange. I'm glad you listed it as one of the best exchanges.
I however think you could make the list more detailed as to their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.

685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin so unstable? on: August 20, 2020, 05:17:01 PM
Bitcoin is still unstable unlike gold because of certain factors.
1. Gold has been here for thousands of years while bitcoin and crypt I currencies are relatively still very young.
2. Bitcoin cannot be as stable as gold because it has not been generally accepted. Until bitcoin is accepted by everyone can it be as stable as gold. Until then, we'd have to make do with the volatility of bitcoin.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin replace Gold someday? on: August 20, 2020, 02:28:21 PM
As it stands, it is still very early to say if bitcoin will replace gold.
It is however noteworthy to know that bitcoin has the potential to replace gold in the future.
The characteristics of bitcoin which gives it an edge over gold are it's portability and decentralization.
I think the edge gold has over bitcoin is it's general acceptability which is subjected to dwindle as more people adopt bitcoin. Gold's legality is also another advantage over bitcoin but we should know that with time, countries that deem bitcoin illegal will eventually come to terms with it.
So it is absolutely possible for bitcoin to replace gold in the future.

688  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona Virus and The Effect on The Markets on: February 01, 2020, 07:14:40 AM
I do believe that if the corona virus has done anything to the marker, especially the crypto market, it is to affect it positively. Many people afraid of the corona virus and it's transmission will have avail themselves to the prospect of digital money. They'll realize that it is more safer and more reliable than transacting fiat P2P.
689  Economy / Economics / Re: How the situation in Iran might impact Bitcoin on: January 09, 2020, 10:24:11 AM
I think the war will affect the price of bitcoin not negatively but positively. Since a war means an economy downfall, quite a number of people will want to secure their cash. And since will fiat will not be reliable, they'll be forced to secure their cash by pouring it into bitcoin.
This ultimately affects the price of bitcoin.
690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that we touched $8,000, what's next? on: January 07, 2020, 01:41:03 PM
What's next is that we wait and hope it doesn't fall back below that. No one can predict what will happen to the market value of bitcoin. It rises and fall.
I'd have said we  believe it wouldn't fall but then there was a bullish rise in the price of bitcoin towards the end of 2017. Bitcoin rose to more than $15,000 and so many speculations came out saying bitcoin is going to remain that way,  rising steadily. However, early 2018, there was a sharp decline in the price and it's just about going up. Hopefully, it will.

692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 will be a material year for crypto. What do you think? on: January 02, 2020, 11:33:20 AM
I think 2020 will be the same as 2019 if steps are not taken to find a solution to two of the prominent limiting factors of bitcoin.
I believe that if solutions are provided to these two factors, there will be a scaling up in the price and adoption of bitcoin.
These two factors, I believe, are transaction fees and government acceptance of bitcoin.
Many bitcoin users use bitcoin only as means of investment and not for day to day usage due to it's hight transaction fees. Calculating the amount of bitcoin I'd have lost to transaction fees if I transact on a daily basis will put one off from using bitcoin everyday. So,  I believe if there are low transaction fees, more people will use bitcoin everyday and this will ultimately have an effect on the price.
Secondly,  government rejection of bitcoin is a great limiting factor on the adoption of bitcoin by the people of the country. This is why bitcoin isn't used for everyday purchases.

695  Economy / Economics / Re: China launching its own crypto currency ? on: September 10, 2019, 08:21:26 AM
Since the cryptocurrency is will be country-based,  then it will be centralized. Unlike bitcoin,  the cryptocurrency will be regulated by the government and will be within confines of the country.
This, however, will have no effect on the cryptocurrency market generally as it is more or less a national currency, only that it is digitally oriented.

697  Economy / Economics / Re: Your Source of Investment Money? on: September 02, 2019, 11:30:07 AM
Although, some people have been able to invest with real money using their credit card.  For example, there is an exchange platform here in my country that allows users to invest using their credit cards.
However,  my source of income for investment is primarily from participating in signature campaigns which,  ofcourse, pay in btc  and sometimes in bounty campaigns which give tokens that can then be exchanged for btc
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Im sick and tired of this Bitcoin on: August 29, 2019, 11:50:50 PM
I believe that the only reason you did not make money through trading is because you do not totally understand what it's all about. You see,  you need to know all there is to know before you can trade successfully and make profit.
If you are not ready to the above, then I'll suggest to you to simply buy off some bitcoins and save for some years. That way,  you'd only have to wait to make profit.
