In my opinion, The only good email is the ones you Encrypt yourself with something like PGP.  Although ProtonMail is designed as a zero-knowledge system, using client-side encryption to protect emails and user data before they are sent to ProtonMail servers, You don't really know what is in the code because it is not opensource.  Who knows if the NSA or someone else has backdoor spying included in the payload.

Actually part of Alf is dead.  The Alf character was voiced by another actor, Paul Fusco.  (and he is still alive... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Fusco)
24  Other / Off-topic / Re: How secure is your password? on: June 08, 2016, 09:32:45 PM
I am using LastPass to store passwords for every site I visit.    One of my passwords came up with a 33 million year crack time table.  I think this was because it is a mixed 15 digit/character code.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Satoshi Nakamoto on: June 04, 2016, 02:53:28 AM
Its just a script written in fortran.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.
26  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Antivirus are you using? on: June 04, 2016, 02:51:28 AM
I dont use one, only common sense. For years w/o infection. I only have adblock on my browser.
Open .pdf's online, and test new programs in sandbox or VM. No sense in paying for what you dont need.

Probably the only smart post I have seen on this thread.  AntiVirus Programs are snake oil.....and most people don't even know it......
27  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Antivirus are you using? on: May 21, 2016, 04:33:58 AM
You guys know that antivirus software is pretty much non effective don't you?  Don't get a sense of false security by having something on your system that wont protect you from the latest/newest threats.  Look at this diagram:

Source: (https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/google-automatic-software-updates-213336930.html)

Notice that Security Experts do not even recommend antivirus software.  It is all the Non Experts who mistakenly recommend getting antivirus software.  Antivirus software is Snake Oil.  Hell, even Symantec declared AV software dead 2 years ago. (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2150743/antivirus-is-dead-says-maker-of-norton-antivirus.html

I will tell you this....I have as much valuable information as anyone on my PC and I do not have ANY (3rd party) antivirus software on my system.  I take precautions and use common sense.  I also follow everything on the RIGHT side of the above chart.  Don't be fooled by thinking these AV products will protect you.

None.  I don't believe in snake oil.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Trading Amazon Cards For Bitcion At Crazy Rate? Legit? on: February 07, 2016, 06:27:43 AM
That is exactly what https://purse.io/ does....  Facilitate in the sell of giftcards for Bitcoins.

If you do some research, you will see there are a lot of foreign workers who earn amazon credits but cannot have items shipped to their country.  So they "trade" amazon credit for bitcoins at a usually discounted rate.
30  Economy / Economics / GERMANY CONSIDERS $5,450 LIMIT ON CASH TRANSACTIONS on: February 03, 2016, 10:07:53 PM
Isn't it crazy how all the different governments are telling people how & when then can spend THEIR OWN money?  Can wait for bitcoin to be mainstream and trump all the government imposed laws!

PewDiePie???  What the hell is this?  I just looked it up, and it looks like a channel for 15 year olds.  Couldn't believe how many subscribers they had.  Guess I am a little out of touch with the younger generation.  BTW, Vsausce was mentioned a few posts back and that is one of the few I like.

Windows 10 isn't quite as bad as the OP is making it out to be.  All of these things can be disabled.

To start, try using https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/

Additionally....try this video for more security tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1kGMCfb2xw

So yea I use Windows 10, and no, I am not dumb......
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Cryptsy more evidence that it is impossible to really secure crypto? on: January 15, 2016, 10:09:54 PM
no it's an evidence, that there is really no competitive exchange owner out there, they treat the cryptoscene, with too much negligence

they need to separate altcoin(scam coin) from bitcoin, when they do cold storage thing, altcoin must be put in a separted environment

i would ever do a virutal machine for every new alt, to feel really secure, this was the case for cryptsy

for bitstamp, they had problem with email/2fa, so again heavy incompetence there

I was going to post my two-cents, but after reading the second post down, it looks like Amph said exactly what I was thinking.  Enough said...

39  Other / Off-topic / Re: Making money by leaving your PC on? on: December 12, 2015, 04:30:19 PM
I'm sure some of you have thought about it from my perspective, so... What other ways of earning some money by just leaving my PC on would you guys suggest? Something less $6 a year, and more $6 a month. I would be honestly satisfied with extra $30-50 a month.
