Mindfox must not understand english very well.  I keep telling him to come HERE and explain his delays, yet he just stays in some IRC I will never go to.

I understand English in the required level to see what your demands are.
And I have enough logic to know and choose which of them I will provide, according to the way you're "demanding" them. Which is none to those who use the tone and attitude you are using.

The only reason I'm so raw with you (and only with you, just check the history and you'll see my general attitude and how I write posts and respond) is because for some reason, you feel like I owe you everything and I must obey all your wishes. I'm sorry, but I'm not.

And again one fine example of what development that is not open and transparent can bring to a coin:

http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/2c9obo/example_of_how_keycoin_transaction_can_be/

Since you keep repeating this over and over, and I already showed you how much I respected what you posted so far (but not those last posts), I believe the server this forum is hosted doesn't have enough hard disk space to host all the links I can paste here, in order to show you what happens when the code of a feature that there's a race (due to competition and not with a good intensions I'm afraid) going on.
Even you must have seen that users from coins that I helped overcome FUD have accused me of stealing their code (just an example).

Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you. Honestly! But please think of the following scenario.

You are just spending some minutes to paste this link, while devs are spending countless hours of their life to implement a feature that known "cloners" will decimate in a matter of seconds. Can you tell me why am I supposed to follow this example?
Even in here, those who have the skills to understand a bit more than a normal user, rushed into posting their conclusions without even knowing exactly what their conclusions are based on. And those are the reviews that are supposed to be accurate and trustful? Without even asking for further details or try to describe how they picture it in their mind and confirm it? Are those "reviews" really reviews? Based on what facts?

Can you also show me one application (just one, I'm not asking for much, am I? ) that works without bugs, 24/7 and does all the thinks that it's supposed to, without any problems whatsoever?
Either closed sourced or open sourced, just name one!

I do lots of simulations in order to make sure that everything will work as it should, trying to be as proactive as I can be.
During one of my simulations, I spotted issues that may arise in the immediate future if not all users not update their wallets before they connect to the network. So, I had to do all the required steps to prevent that.
I'm sorry that I'm slow (to some people's measures) but I prefer to take it slow and release something that passed some QA tests, than have it blow in your face while normal usage. Wouldn't you agree?

I would agree 100%, thanks for the update.

I don't mind things taking time but as your last post said the wallet would be ready within a day you can understand concerns when we don't hear anything from you for a week. I only ask that you keep the community informed if delays occur so we're not left wondering what is going on.

Although I understand your concerns, you will agree with me that you didn't express them with the best available way (smile)
Some times, when I try to resolve issues, I distant myself from the rest of the world, which I hope you will all excuse from me (I'm not that communicating, I know, but I'm trying (another smile) )

P.S. The parenthesis instead of codes is because my computer hit reds again and the keyboard layout is scrambled again, so I can't type the colon char...

first of all, let me apologize for the long time of no posting in here.

I was hospitalized (heat + exhaustion + old age can do that to me from what it seems) and this turned my schedule upside down.

Regarding the new wallet. I don't know how many of you will take it, but we don't have the required hashrate to protect the blockchain from attacks.
Even with exchange's wallet frozen, someone attacked again (the huge spike in network hashrate shows that).
The problem is that although there is interest to mine for good cause, it looks like there's more interest to abuse those who are interested and try to double spend coins to literaly "steal" from exchanges or whoever is trading with CleanWater.
So, we decided that the best solution is to turn it into pure PoS and very close after that, setup a multi-pool where you will be able to mine with whatever algorithm you choose to (sha256, scrypt, x11, x13, scrypt-n, scrypt-jane) for coins and exchange them to buy cleanwatercoins which will be used as payment for your mining work.

By tomorrow we'll have a new wallet and the plan is to stop PoW at block height 112000 and accept only PoS blocks after that.

I'll keep you updated
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (WC) | WhiteCoin | BIG NEWS: Foundation, investors & more ☯ whitecoin.info on: July 16, 2014, 01:11:13 PM
Thanks. There are more than a few of us that have the same position and feeling about introducing yet another coin. At that point, might as well detach from WC and consider it just another crap coin, because that is all you are really doing. Nothing innovated about that process. What does have promise is the notion of a coin "framework" that is modular in design, works with other alts and have the ability to support things like trading from inside the wallet, games inside the wallet, social media inside the wallet, everything, inside the wallet...

Either you misunderstood what I posted or you are trying to twist what I wrote.

What I wrote, is that further development should be on WC (in my opinion), because having a companion coin would bring, as you very well say, an average. Which means that there will be effort for 2 coins and we will only get the average results from both, giving double the effort (either as the dev team, or as the community in whole).

If you think that innovation make a coin usable, I completely disagree. On the contrary, constant innovation make ordinary users afraid and eventually give up. Unless we find very creative ways of doing all that and keep the same simple interface. That's food for thoughts.

Now, help me understand something. Are you a supporter of the "framework" that will integrate with games, social media, trading and whatnot, or against it?
I can't reply to your position on this.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (WC) | WhiteCoin | BIG NEWS: Foundation, investors & more ☯ whitecoin.info on: July 16, 2014, 09:44:53 AM
Hi Mindfox, and WC community,

I hope you see my comments as healthy debate because I have much respect for what you and the rest of the team have accomplished.   ...and I have enjoyed the debates we have had previously on this matter in IRC  Cheesy

I would like to add my thoughts on why a companion coin would be a good idea:

  • As much as we might not like the idea, WC has something to prove.  And this, for me, is the biggest reason to attempt a companion coin.  A companion coin would bring to light the commitment of the new dev team and the value of community that has been added to WC and WOC.
Value has nothing to do with dev team devotion and dedication. That in the business world goes without saying and it's not something that increases the trade value of something.
If that was the case, WC would not drop at all. To my eyes, this is an invalid point

  • You are right when you say that other coins have attempted to develop anon/privacy with limited success.  That allows room for WC and WOC to fill that void with a successful implementation of that technology.  If you are working on a unique way of implementing that technology, it could prove to be a game changer.  Making a companion coin with this feature also makes the most sense because it adds that feature to the WCF without forever joining it to WC.
This is more of a wish than a point. Besides, why WOC and not WC getting the features? Why make things more complicated to simple users?

  • A companion coin with an IPO model, like those that have been discussed, would have to help WC recover some of it's lost value.
Again a wish. Why would someone get into any IPO for a new coin, that it's sole purpose is to support the price of another coin? I really don't get it.

I would like to propose that we move on this sooner rather than later.  Continued debate is good, but debate without end helps no one (at least no one interested in WC).  It's clear that not everyone can be made happy with this topic...but I also believe that those that are committed to this coin will be able to understand whatever direction it goes without threats of mass dumping and other FUD tactics that have been used in the past.
Sure, nobody wants to stall. But, till now, points given (not only from you) are not convincing (imho) and are only to generate hype. With hype, you only get something for a small period of time and when the dust settles, you're left with more bug holders than true investors.

What is the purpose of WC in reality? What do you want from it? To rise in price and sell it? Then drop again so you can buy cheap then rise again so you can profit again?
Isn't it obvious that for you to profit, someone has to lose? And that someone is in this community also? That way, nobody will be happy, right?
So, again: what are you investing to? Profit from exchange trading or from long term adaptation?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (WC) | WhiteCoin | BIG NEWS: Foundation, investors & more ☯ whitecoin.info on: July 15, 2014, 01:21:22 PM

Yes qrk and WC are in the same position. No development pot, no real devs. However active communities already formed and already on the best exchanges and well known.

I'll ask you and the others saying NO. Tell me a negative to the companion coin introduced via WC only IPO?

A negative other than it could be some competition to WC. We've covered that in the qrk thread. I am yet to hear any other.

There are 400 coins already in direct competition with WC, none of those have any potential benefits to WC.

A companion coin is not a way to fork. QRK needs it more than WC since WC already has POS.

However many WC holders will prefer to see WC have a crack at mainstream and not have that hampered by ANON features coded in. WOC will offer lots of benefits with no more negatives than the other 10 coins released today.

The QRK naysayers are yet to provide 1 clear negative of implementing their companion coin. Since the WOC will be sold by the foundation and the WC taken in payment will also be controlled. There is a lot less competition to WC directly in terms of market price than from other alts that will provide nothing in return for WC. WC is getting sold daily back to BTC to purchase coins others see as having a better future ahead. Hence the price slipping down again.

The ipo though can NEVER be via any other method that buying in with WC. Not just a few weeks. It has to be on WC until all the WOC ipo is sold off.

How would it drive anyone away. If there is no negative and lots of potential positives for both coins then why would anyone logically leave WC ? would seem a very strange decision. I would only buy WOC with my WC as things progressed positively in terms of development and activity. I would always keep most of my WC perhaps buying more to switch over to WOC if needs be.

The services and activity brought in by the companion coin would drive demand for both coins. Both coins can take things from each other and jointly use services funded by either one.

Most people listen to blanket statements that break down under closer scrutiny. Let's examine the idea in detail before saying it would be good or bad for WC.

The main issue is do we really have a dev team that can create a working anon coin that is as good as the other top tier ones in development ie xc,dark, cloak etc.  I think with a large enough development pot such developers can be found.

Honestly now, at some point, this community must start seeing things in a realistic way.

There are 3 or 4 major coins atm, that are *still* trying to implement "anonymous", with major support on resources and you are talking about a "working anonymous" solution that a "single dev" will take for a "bounty"?

I'm currently working on one kind of implementation for a coin and as soon as it is ready and working, would be happy to apply it to WC as a "working solution".

Regarding companion coins, I'm strongly against it as it serves no purpose, but of course if the majority wants it, let's make it. But, question yourselves: "Why would anyone want a coin (no matter the name) when that coin offers nothing? "

I honestly think that everybody who cares about this coin and is able to join irc (it's not that hard, even webirc will allow a connection) should arrange a meeting. Let's talk real time and exchange opinions. Fora are not the best available option for this kind of discussion.

Edit: Added some thoughts - comments

CLEAN WATER IS STILL DISABLED on Bittrex. Huh
and it should be.

Once we rectify the situation of continues attacks on the network (due to lack of hash power) then they will re-enable it.

Heres the important question. Can you implant the features the community wants and how much BTC will it cost us. We needed a new wallet months ago and want to add new features to make Whitecoin more attractive to everyone.
You really didn't read my post, did you?

Right, So I'll take that as a no.

So shall we start looking for another programmer? Other than one who makes a smug appearance every few months... What are the bounty limits we are willing to spend for the features we want?

If the majority of the members of the community agrees with it, I will just resign and relieve you of my presence (or absence, whichever you prefer).

Ownski, I wish you luck with your "bounties". The way you treat me, I treat you.

Yes I copied the Ghostcoin source, as I the original Whitecoin dev also made Ghostcoin. I also made some 30 other coins.

For clarification I was until not long ago a freelance coin maker, making coins for myself and other paying parties.

I charged a standard rate of 1BTC or 50% of the premine to make these coins and promised a 24hr turnaround.

When contacted by a community member to make Whitecoin the original set of specs not only did not make sense, were very bad. Since I was unable to contact the member until 2 hours prelaunch I was pressed for time.

Originally they wanted it cloned off blackcoin. When I started to clone it I left the premine to the end and realized that nHeight had not been used to calculate POW rewards, so rather than going through and changing POW, I just quickly copied over the specs to Ghostcoin. With a limited amount of time, I did what I could.

The main mistake made was I used the Blackcoin  POS min and max heights. This for some reason actually disabled POS.

When this was bought to my attention, the Whitecoin project was basically extorted from my self and other member by Monzongo, who threatened to destroy the network and claimed it as his own. In the best interest of blackmail and I extortion I handed over the passwords etc.

Then news came Whitecoin had broken. This actually came as I launched another coin for a customer and since recently being extorted from Whitecoin I had no interest in fixing or working for Monzongo.

But in less than 20 minutes, while releasing another coin I wrote a patch and passed it on and washed my hands dry.

For the next 5 days the Whitecoin "new"dev team consisting of Mindfox and Crypto West could not tune the patch I wrote originally that ended up being the POS patch. Since "no one"could fix it the price grew for the complete patch for the POS fix. This then ended up with Monzongo publicly offering on Skype a 5BTC bounty for the patch. 2 hours later I pushed the commits to github as the stupid dicks forgot to change the github password after the account was extorted.

For 2 weeks I waiting for the 5BTC payment and received nothing but promises of funds (5BTC) from Monzongo. As this point I posted a few earlier threads threatening to expose the truth. This fell on deaf ears with Monzongo threatening me in PM's to watch out.

After weeks of bickering I called a truce with Monzongo and walked away.

At this point some 8 weeks after the patch I still received nothing. Most other developers know this and will not touch Whitecoin until all development funds are paid.

To rub salt into the wound, crypto donations collected where sent to Crypt West and Mindfox who actually did nothing vs paying the bounty for the patch which was promised but never delivered.

Hope this clears things up.

I don't know the whole story on this, but I do know that you were trying to fix it while I already debugged it and announced my findings in the skype group-chat, where I was laughed at, cursed and even accused of not knowing what I'm saying.
Regarding the 5 days, here's where you're wrong. I debugged and announced my findings in one day time. Since then, I wanted to make it work correctly, since someone (I wonder who that could be) left the hard coded sync checkpoints from another coin (yes, ghostcoin) and the wallet was going nuts when trying to re-download the chain.
Also, from what I saw in that skype group-chat, you wanted some btcs payment for your so-called "patch", when I already released screenshots of my test wallet staking and was preparing to make a public test with it, to make sure that everything will work out just fine.
There is so much story behind this and I'm glad you brought it up.

I have so many things to say, that I kept inside me for so long... Instead, I'll just do a couple of questions to everyone care to answer me honestly:

Why does people think that designing/analyzing/developing is something everyone can do, in a very little time and it costs nothing? (in effort to learn new things, understand better old things, gather resources and knowledge that is needed to support a project)

Why do people think that a developer does not put a lot of money in the table with his time and effort? When you go to work, don't you get a sallary? When a developer spends time for a new wallet feature or a coin, isn't he heavily investing with his time? (that is valued in real money) Those money when put to developing the coin or a new wallet, isn't a heavy investment on behalf of the dev team?

Why do you think that implementing "anon", second linked chains, addin systems (without compromising security) is so simple and should be ready yesterday?

I would prefer to see people reply to me in IRC. Better way to communicate and you can "feel" the one you are talking with. No need to browse pages of pages in order to get the main idea and concept of a conversation Smiley

Seriously, it doesn't take but a minute to have him come post something on the site. Personal matters don't take months unless you are in a coma.
Ok, here you are. I posted something.

Most of you know that I'm not a forum guy and I prefer to talk real time (like IRC).
Seriously, it doesn't take but seconds to connect to IRC and find me.
But for me, to come to a thread that I didn't refresh for quite some time, meant that I had to read tenhs of pages of posts (which you'll have to excuse me I didn't have the time to do thoroughly) and it would take many many hours.

Happy?
