1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Firmware informatoion from a noob on: September 18, 2020, 03:52:20 AM
Hello,
I just want to start this thread off by making it totally clear that I have NO knowledge on the issue.

I am just wondering what "OS" the antminers are running. I understand that there is a linux distro delivered from Antminer. But there are customs out there, so others seem to be able to create their own.

What I am wondering is what is that "OS", and what would it take to learn some of it. Any recommandations are greatly appriciated! Smiley

Would be cool to be running my own firmware for my S9's. I am also fully aware that this might be hoping for way to much, and that I should lower my excpectations, but this got me interested so why not give it a try Smiley

Again, new here so please be nice xD

EDIT:
Would just like to appologise if I am asking in a stupid way, and also my hottible English. Second language.

There's none because it's not feasible for a mobile processor to mine POW coins.
If you can find one that's being advertised as "miner", it's most likely a scam, faucet, a gimmick or both.
One example of those gimmick + faucet-like "mining app" was Electroneum app which acts as wallet with internal "fake" miner.
But now, they took away the 'ETN miner' feature.

If there's a legit one (sadly, I don't have any recommendations), it will take a lot of time to get a decent payout.

Hello, and thank you for your reply Smiley

I am not looking for an miner app, but an management app that can:
- Search a network for active miners based on a set up range.
- Present info such as: fan status, hash board status etc
- Be able to update firmware, and preferrebly unlock firmware versions like bitmains lock down.
-send commands like: shut down, reboot, flash LED etc

I know I might be asking for a lot here, but won't hurt to hope Smiley

Wish you all the best!

Best regards link93

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: February 01, 2017, 07:55:52 PM
Hi,
I came over this coin a few days ago and have been trying to mine it for a coupple of days. It might be the pool that has some issues, but even with 350+Th for 10 straight hours, the pool found 2 blocks. I am NO expert on this, but that seems a little odd.
I was providing 200 of the Th, but after this result, im on the verge of dumping this.

Do you have any idea on what can cause this? or if you know of other working pools, couse I see that blocks are being found(blockexploerer) but NONE comes to the pool ive been mining.
For the record, I'm pretty new at this, so spoonfeeding would be prefered! Smiley

Hi CrimsonGT,

As of this moment, a 4.7TH/s S7 would net you about 10.4 EMC per day. The difficulty has risen significantly along with the price. This would be about $4.63 a day. If you have the money laying around you might as well jump on a new S9 when the price drops a little.

If your electricity is cheap you can certainly profit from mining. If you don't want to deal with the electric bill increase as you are mining and holding your EMC, I would suggest buying some from an exchange. Personally I enjoy mining and even when I want to purchase coins I usually end up purchasing extra hashing power and mining them instead. It doesn't matter to me if my profitability falls slightly in the red because I believe the coin is still significantly undervalued at this point.

If you want to get an S7 at a good price and quickly I'd recommend buying from Scott at holybitcoin.com. I've purchased from him before and had no issues.

If you want to learn more about Emercoin feel free to ask. There is a lot of development in progress and great projects on the horizon for EMC so you've placed your faith well. I'm always here to help!
