561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 10, 2023, 01:22:25 PM
But the Lakers were especially too horrible. I didn't expect them to be this bad. Last season also, Rockets beat them even during their bad season but this time Lakers were like high school team against pros, especially defensively. It is too early to predict but maybe Rockets will be above Lakers in the season, maybe Rockets will be over .500

Yeah, that performance by the Lakers players was pathetic. However, it's premature to draw any conclusions based on just one bad performance by the Lakers. Personally, I think the Lakers still have a good chance to finish the season above .500. Of course, this will only be possible if Davis and LeBron are not seriously injured and are healthy throughout the season.

Even when AD was playing, the Lakers were already losing 2 straight games prior to the Houston game. But it was really a complete disaster against Houston. Even if the Lakers are suffering from injuries, they still have decent players like Hachimura, Russell, and Lebron too. So it's a shame losing 30-plus points to a team not even considered a threat to the top.

Overall, the Lakers struggled a lot this season, they have wins but they were all close and could've gone either way. If they continue struggling then Lebron might ask roster change before the trade deadline just like what happened last season.
562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: November 10, 2023, 11:41:07 AM
So it's still almost a month before this fight. And just like most fight fans, Eddie Hearn is also anxious about this fight. Only the result of this fight will determine if Haney is really good and is stronger in this division since he was struggling at 135. Or Haney isn't good and was only good at 135 due to his size advantage.

Still, it is Teofimo Lopez as the man to beat in this division after beating Taylor. I am curious about what's next in this division. We want to see unifications or at least the top names fighting each other.

I do agree, I think in this division, since Teo beat the former unified champion in Teo Lopez, he will be the man to beat at 140 lbs. Haney is not yet tested, but Prograis is a champion, he doesn't have that kind of pop in his name.

Ryan Garcia is yet to make his name in this division, he will have a hard time facing a knockout artist in Duarte. If he wins that one, for sure he will call out names here. Might be good to see him and Teo Lopez though, could be the biggest fight at 140 lbs and Ryan making a lot of money again.

But let's wait for the outcome of his fight, and still good to see Prograis a huge underdog.

I am still doubtful about Ryan's eagerness to face a champion. He is earning big money even if he never fought a belt. So he may continue doing it and just hype the public by calling champions and then in reality he will face non-champions just like what Tank is doing.

But maybe Ryan will dare fight the winner of Prograis and Haney especially if the victor shows many flaws that Ryan believes he can take advantage of. But there's also the issue with Ryan and GBP. Ryan's fight against Duarte might be his last with GBP so his next fight will depend on which promoter he will sign. If he signs with PBC then he might get the easiest undeserving WBA champion of the division, Rolly and there is also the IBF champ Subriel Matias but I guess it'll be suicide for Ryan. Matchroom has WBC champ Prograis and his challenger Devin Haney while Top Rank has the lineal, WBO champion Teofimo Lopez.
563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 09, 2023, 12:51:56 PM
I just checked the odds again. It's even +1300 here. Decent odds but knowing Kawhi's injury history in the last few years, it's a tough call. I'd rather pick the Warriors with the same odds.

The odds will probably change if the Clippers continue to struggle. It's the second game for Harden, and they're still losing. It might be a good thing if they keep losing for now, and hopefully, they'll find the chemistry they need as the regular season progresses. We can understand what the Clippers are going through right now; they've accommodated a star player, and chemistry is still a problem. In their game against the Nets, it seems like their issue might be with three-point shooting, which is pretty poor at just 22%. This is surprising considering that most of the starters are good three-point shooters, except for Westbrook.

Here are the stats for the three-point area:

PG: 2-10
Kawhi: 1-6
Harden: 2-5
Westbrook: 1-5

Additionally, if you look at the stats, their starters are playing huge minutes compared to the Net's starters.

That was a painful loss because it was against a mediocre team. They're supposed to win that one.

But yeah, what is most important for these proven veterans is to just enter the playoffs. But the problem is they also need to start competing and win games because today's NBA is stacked with teams capable of entering the playoffs. At the Western Conference, only the Jazz, Spur, and Trail Blazers are in the full rebuilding stage. Last season the Miami Heat even struggled for a spot in the playoffs and it could happen to the Clippers. And there's also the threat of injuries, especially on Kawhi.
564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: November 09, 2023, 12:21:05 PM
Just today, Tapales together with his promoter and their entourage are flying back to the Philippines. They are expected to have their final camp in the high-altitude mountains of Baguio. Tapales is indeed overtraining. Hopefully, he only had limited hard work when he was in LA because he also had a lot of sparring sessions there against Ancajas, Magsayo, Moton, etc. There are still around 2 months before the fight, Inoue is also expected to have started his light training. It's really interesting to see if Tapales' sacrificing a long preparation is enough to hurdle the Japanese superstar.

We are just only 1 month and 2 weeks away for this upcoming or anticipated fight. Wondering on why they did really travel back into their country for some training. Arent they able to do such training on LA?
Well, its their choice and in speaking about over training then just let them be on which they are fully aware no what are the things that needs to be avoided considering that the fight is going near.
It is really that good that they do make out some good preparations for the upcoming fight yet Tapales team is really that fully aware on whats stake on here and whats the big achievement and result
on the time that he would be able to beat up Inoue.

The fight is near and preparations should be made. Both sides are really that preparing specially on Inoue's side too. Im already excited for this upcoming fight.
Neither we would be seeing some upset or something that would really be still that normal considering that Inoue might be still ended up on being unbeatable.

They're already in the US since August which was already over 2 months. They trained and sparred with former world champions and some prospects. Maybe they're doing it for a change of environment. Japan is a little similar in terms of landscapes although it's colder. In Baguiao, Tapales will have fewer distractions, especially from useless vloggers. Tapales will have lesser-quality sparring partners though, but it'll be fine as no one from his sparring partners in the US is like Inoue's style as well.

As for the long training time of Tapales which runs for more than 4 months and sparring high-level fighters in the very first month are very unusual. Normal fighters train between 2 to 3 months. They start light, go hardcore, and sparring is part of the final stages when the body is nearing its peak. Most fighters who overtrained in the past lost their fights which is why it is uncommon nowadays to have very long camps. But we'll see how this goes. I am somehow hoping for Tapales to show something big in this fight.
565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 09, 2023, 11:13:53 AM
The last undefeated team in the league has fallen now with the Minnesota Timberwolves beating the Boston Celtics. Minnesota is also the only team in the league to have beaten the Denver Nuggets. While it’s still early, the Timberwolves are showing they’re a team to beat this year. They’re also the number one rated defense in the league.

Another big win by the Timberwolves. That win should boost their morale somehow and continue to their winning ways. However, there's still a lot to improve before they can consider themselves a serious contender this season. Their 2 towers need to be consistent. I am not sold on Conley, they need a stable and younger PG, and it does not have to be a star player. Nonetheless, the Timberwolves are still undefeated with a 4-0 record at home.

They need that kind of consistency at home especially when the playoffs comes. That win was huge as they have done that even without KAT.
It's now looking good for the Wolves, the addition of  Conley to this team has somehow contribute well to what they have become now and Edwards had already matured as a player due to his big experience, especially playing the FIBA WC.

If they continue to work well and develop then they will become a serious problem to any teams. They have their 2 towers who are both capable on offense and defense while Edwards is starting to show his leadership. A PG with good passing skills will definitely make them much better since the current roster is very good already. But if they have no other other option then Conley is decent. I just see his $24 million purse this year is too expensive but I understand that no other team will accept him with that kind of salary.

Are you referring to Conley with that contract? I know he had a huge contract with Memphis before he got traded, but he is a decent player, no longer in his prime, but he could still improve a team. I don't even understand why the Jazz let him go.

Yes, Michael Conley will be paid $24 million for this season. He's still decent and experienced but he is not consistent compared to players with lower salaries which is why he is not given that high playing time even if he is their starting PG. But most likely the management is just waiting for opportunities in order to grab a better point guard, someone who can pass very well to take advantage of their offensive potential.

Anyway, they won again. That's 4 straight wins already and they're sitting second next to Denver.

Clippers at +1200 now to win a championship, I think this is a good steal.

https://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/odds/futures/

That's pretty attractive if you'll ask me.

I am now confirming it with my bookie but unfortunately I could not see the odds available it, I guess I just have to check back later.

I just checked the odds again. It's even +1300 here. Decent odds but knowing Kawhi's injury history in the last few years, it's a tough call. I'd rather pick the Warriors with the same odds.

566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: November 09, 2023, 10:37:54 AM
Time to talk about Fury's willingness to face Usyk and what's next for Ngannou. Fury trained at McDonald's in this fight so I still doubt Ngannou can beat any of the top 20 in boxing. Derek Chisora is Ngannou's easiest fight that is also marketable but the former is most likely to win if given proper time to train and isn't paid to take a dive.

Why not go directly against popular heavyweight boxers like Joshua and Wilder, for instance? I mean, if Ngannou almost beat Fury, I'm sure he can compete well against boxers who have a lower ranking compared to Fury. However, if what you stated is true that Fury trained at McDonald's in that certain fight, then I guess Ngannou was just overrated.

Pretty sure Ngannou will only look for the next biggest offer. A lot of promoters are negotiating. Promoters are racing who gets him first. It seems like they are looking at Ngannou as easy money for their fighters. Cheesy
With what Ngannou did to fury that he almost beat the champ, people would expect to see him fight more if that rematch will not happen anytime sooner. I feel that even Ngannou just recently make his debut in boxing, he will be a problem to the active boxers, so a big name in boxing against him will certainly make a lot of money for promoters.
I like Ngannou and I am hoping he's for real. But until I see him deliver another impressive performance in boxing I am still not buying. I still believe unheralded and old fighters like Chisora will beat him.

But I like Ngannou countering Wilder by saying that he will fight him if they have a 2-fight contract, 1 in boxing and the other 1 in MMA. I can only hope that there are willing sponsors for an MMA fight, otherwise, Ngannou will be forced to only box Wilder. But there's also AJ and the potential Usyk-Fury winner.
That's not gonna happen, and besides, if they'll fight in boxing, they will make way bigger money compared to what they'll make in UFC. a 2 fight contract is okay though, but it should be both in boxing, that way they'll increse their income especially if the first fight is a close one.

We'll see, maybe Saudi or a group of investors are willing to shed money for an MMA fight. And Wilder actually said that he is thinking of fighting in MMA.

So far Ngannou is planning to make his PFL debut and then back into boxing. He really wants a Fury rematch even sending a message requesting Usyk to step aside. I doubt the Ukrainian will even care to respond though, Ngannou is a just nuisance to him.

He should focus in boxing as that's where he'll make a lot of money, and he has to be patient though, Usyk won't step aside as he'll also make a lot of money with his unification fight with Fury.

Absolutely, there is no way Usyk gives in. I can't even see any posts or interviews of him responding to Ngannou's request to step aside. As for Ngannou, he's got a contract with PFL. Maybe he'll just cherry-pick a weak opponent to make sure his hype won't fade.

The scorecard that has to be the most dubious is the one that scored 96/93 in favour of Fury.

I reviewed the scorecards again based only on the second and the third judge. Out of the 10 rounds, they only disagreed 3 times, in rounds 1, 4, and 7 which means these rounds were somewhat close and difficult to score. They both gave Fury rounds 2, 5, 6 and 9. Ngannou got 3, 8 and 10. So if in case these two judges gave all the disputed rounds to Fury, it'll be 96-93 in favor of the champion.

Boston and Philadelphia are now tied with 5-1 records. Philly has a 5 game-win streak.

It seems like they really don't need Harden after all. Speaking of Harden, he made his debut with the Clippers against the Knicks, but unfortunately, they lost.

Good thing they unloaded Harden in the early part of this season. Now Tyrese Maxey's potential will be fully realized. I have high regard for the kid. The Clippers only started well but are now losing games against top-tier teams.
570  Economy / Economics / Re: War and property mortgage you still need to pay If war destroy your Property on: November 08, 2023, 12:49:29 PM
Yes, you can sell your property or return it to the bank if you are expecting that war will rage your place. But you also have to take note that you will be losing part of your investment when selling or returning it to the bank. The open market, especially the bank are experts in assessing properties including an upcoming war so they will definitely take a huge chunk of value to your property.

Imagine paying a portion of the property and then only to find out that its value is like nothing already. It is for you to decide. After the war, you still won the property if you continued paying for it. And in case of a war, banks will of course pause the payments so there will be no penalties. So it is for you to decide since you are more familiar with your place and its situation.
571  Economy / Economics / Re: Are You Sticking to Your Plan or Has Life Made You Pause or Modify It? on: November 08, 2023, 11:52:03 AM
Life has a lot of ups and downs. So it is vital to have a futuristic plan. There's a general plan where as much as possible you have to stick to it no matter what. And I risked a lot over the years to stick to it. The smaller plans are when we can make adjustments. I already achieved financial freedom some years ago but I became too lax and I never thought that money no matter how big or small could be easily burned in one single bad decision. So I started all over again. My early retirement plan is paused. Since 2022 I have barely hung out and traveled because the plan is to focus on saving in order to invest. I am mostly into bitcoin and a few altcoins as I am banking big on this cycle. I even sold all my remaining stocks a few months ago.

As for 747, this is a very expensive marketing strategy, although an effective one at that knowing that most of their customers are mainly gamers who try gambling as they think they have the knowledge from the game to enable them to win some money.

I remember 747 became very popular a few years ago. But lately, there are a lot of new casinos that are becoming more popular. And I haven't heard 747 anymore so I thought they already closed its operations. So entering the DOTA 2 scene is a good start for 747. Casinos have deep funds, especially on their marketing so there should be no problem for 747 in terms of budget.

In other news, Shopify Rebellion officially bade goodbye to Fly, Abed, and Crit. Seems like good news to these 3 players as they finally get rid of the unlucky Arteezy and Bulba. I'm really surprised by the team's decision, they seem to have chosen the worst while dropping the better ones. Cheesy

I am in the same situation. I wish I just bought it again at $27k for my October DCA. Now I feel $35k is a little expensive. Cheesy Although, I am still confident that the price of bitcoin can easily reach its former all-time high within this cycle. Right now I need to buy within this month for my October and November DCA. But I'll be buying within this month anyway even if bitcoin continues to move up. The original plan is to continue doing DCA until bitcoin reaches $50k or maybe I should stop after the halving month and then start trading again once the market is back into bullish mode.
574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: November 07, 2023, 01:04:27 PM
If I'm not mistaken, there is also a huge mistake in the first Pacquaio vs Marquez fight, my recollection is that Manny scored 3 knockdown in the first round and the score should be 10-7. And if the judges score the fight correct, Manny could have won that first fight.
No the score should be 10-6, while one of the judges missed the count of the knockdowns so he only scored 10-7.

Refer to my post above, I have shared the article of that specific fight with complete information.

There should have been a protest, and Manny should have been declared the winner since it's automatic that the scoring should be 10-6 when there are 3 knockdowns in a round. Team Marquez could not counter-protest that, but what's done is done. Manny was still the better fighter in terms of overall accomplishments in boxing, despite Marquez retiring after he knocked Pacman out cold and not giving a rematch.

Pacman should've won that fight but a protest wouldn't change the result. Basically, rules state that 3 knockdowns is a 10-6 except that it is not guaranteed. If a judge believes that the fighter is losing the round without the knockdowns then he can make it a 10-7.

Anyway, it is time to move on from these fights. The fight was close. Overall Fury landed more but Ngannou landed more power punches. I would've loved Ngannou winning but it'll be odd if Fury the champion loses in a highly disputed fight.

575  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 07, 2023, 12:28:24 PM
I am not a fan of Elon Musk but obviously, a lot of us can say the same. AI will not only grow in the future but it also develop into something big which will become a necessity just like the internet. AI will continue to replace human workers but not the entirety of course but it could take most of the jobs in the future.

I am not worried for myself. But people should seriously start being more responsible in starting a family. Children in the future will have a harder time getting jobs without having college degrees. People in the future should stop relying on the hope of getting a job outside their country because most of these rich countries are the ones to start using AI.

In as much as I think Artificial intelligence is growing rapidly over the internet, I still think it will remain within the reach of internet. AI only has the knowledge of what is been programmed into his system, AI can't do without human as well. What I think AI is going to do for human is to help reduce efforts and time spent in doing or carrying out works that we do.

If a doctor spent 13 hours a day for research, AI will help him in doing research to reduce that time to 6 - 7 hours of time to do his research, but as I said AI cannot exist on their own, they need the help of intelligent men to built this, without them understanding the nature of human, it cannot be established or program into this machine that can help humans.

However, I'm concerned about how lazy people will become if they depend on this AI of a thing. People now use AI to write articles, do research and also assignment and this is going to a challenge because it will make student become too lazy to do things on their own. Imagine having a graduate who use AI to write an article throughout his entire time in school can't write it by himself after graduation. Who is going to impact real knowledge to the younger generations. Real Education will die with the revolution of AI.

Nearly everything will be connected to the internet in the future except probably in some very poor countries and remote places. But even without the internet, installed AI can still work on machines, they just have to be updated when needed. Humans are still needed of course but minimal. From hard labor down to office work, AI can mostly do it.

There is nothing wrong with using AI in schools. Real education will be better with AI. The energy and time saved will be used on other stuff. Students will learn more and can have more time to enjoy their lives as well. Students still need to understand their research otherwise they won't pass their oral recitations, and exams and will fail their thesis defense. In short, they won't graduate.

With AI, humans can spend more time exploring and discovering beyond imagination. We need to explore the wide universe. We need to find ways on how to heal the planet from pollution and other problems for our future generations.
576  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel is scary on: November 07, 2023, 12:08:32 PM
It's not scary if you think that they have nukes but decided NOT to use them till now. Imagine their surrounding countries get access to nuke... Thankfully only sane countries have nukes (except North Korea... it's more like drunk but not yet crazy).

If the world was completely sane there would be no nukes and nuclear warheads in existence, to be honest. Also, if you say that it would be even scarier if those Arab countries which surround Israel had nukes, then I agree with you, because some of them have obvious sympathy with groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, not even mention that many of them have swore to destroy the State of Israel.
The only reason the regime in North Korea still exists to this day is because their nuclear arsenal, I have no doubt in my mind the United States and its allies in the West would have liberated the people of NK a long time ago if Kim and his family did not have that precious nuclear program they keep up to this day.

I wonder what the world would look like if US President Truman agreed with General McArthur to nuke China in order to stop the Chinese from sending millions of soldiers to Korea. Pretty sure the Korean peninsula would've been united in a democratic government and North Korean citizens would've been mostly rich by now. And current communist China would've been small or even wiped out by the Taiwanese. Tibet, Manchuria and maybe even Xinjiang would've declared their own independence. Instead, Truman removed McArthur from command. Now the US world dominance long term is in danger by the ever-growing China.

It's just crazy when a lot of people mind other people's stuff. There is nothing wrong with giving advice but it is wrong when someone tries to insist. It's like some people here making posts and talking about how Elon Musk was a failure and what things he should do in order to make his business better. It's crazy. We should look at ourselves in the mirror before considering to mind other people's business.
It sometimes feels like some people care more about what you do than what they do themselves or need to do, lol. I mean, do what you have to do instead of focusing on what I'm doing, it's my things, it's my life, and it's me who should be deciding what's good and what's bad for me. If you think that I'm doing something in the wrong way, just suggest me a better way, and if I think that your way is better than mine, I will follow it, but if I don't think so, I'll go with my way and you shouldn't have an issue with that and don't start arguing with me for that.

OP probably did the same thing with his friend, he did what he thought was right for himself and he was confident with his decision. OP suggested something but he thought his decision was still better so he went with that and OP started an argument with him for not thinking that his decision was better.

And I know some people with that same attitude. But I am trying as much as possible to stay away from them. They're toxic. I honestly do not understand why they need to argue or insist when their suggestions aren't being followed. It is disrespectful. Maybe psychologists can explain more, it could be something about personal insecurity.

OP is feeling bad which is why he posted it here. His advice wasn't followed and as he said, the argument didn't end well. What makes matters worse is his advice ended up being a mistake so his friend won the bigger pot. What a shame. If I were OP I would spend some time alone, and re-assess my personality. And of course, I will apologize to my friend with a good vibe manner.

Questionable criteria (I’m not at all sure that they are applied as you highlighted). Assuming this is the case, then let's say a round where one boxer threw 100 punches and another zero would be counted as only 10-9 if the second boxer (with zero punches) was able to stay on his feet? You understand that this is absurd?
Fury landed just one punch in the third round. It's 8-10 automatically. Plus a knockdown, it should be 7-10.

Your criteria is even more absurd because in your hypothetical scenario a fighter could win a single round 10-0 and then run around the other 9 rounds doing next to nothing and still win by only losing those 9 rounds by a 9-10 score.

It is possible for judges to give a fighter less points than 9 without a knockdown but the circumstances have to be extraordinary. Ngannou landed only 7 punches in that third round which is low even for a heavyweight. He was dominant but not so thoroughly dominant that the score should have been wider. Fury was able to stand back up and shake off the cobwebs. He was stunned but not so badly hurt that a stoppage might have been considered.

Ngannou dominated the 3rd round but that doesn't merit a 10-7.

Right. A fighter can possibly get a 10-8 even without a knockdown provided he battered his opponent from pillar to post. And another thing, even if a fighter can score a knockdown but was losing prior to and after the knockdown and is constantly hit by power punches and significant jabs he may end up getting only a 10-9 instead of 10-8. A referee can also make a standing 8-count even without a knockdown if he thinks the battered fighter needs to be counted and re-assessed.
