3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Perhaps a USD>BTC>USD challenge on: May 22, 2017, 08:57:27 PM
it said adjusted, and yeah it was an unimportant thing anyways, trying to find ways to save money , thats all, and if the costs for services and such happen every time i move btc at all, why am i not using a bank, I looked into this to get away from being over taxed and charged for people handling my money, looks like btc isnt the answer to that one then, I mean a charge every time i move it? plus exchange fees, taxes etc. I was looking for hassle free, guess ill stick to cash for now
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: handheld BTC address generator and offline cold storage wallet, Final Proposal on: April 12, 2017, 08:18:11 PM
This is my web page that discusses this innovative device and its uses and implications. I am currently trying to gather together a team of developers and coders to start this project, As far as I know, I am the creator of said device and have used it wonderfully with all my Crypto currency transactions to date. . . The proposal website is here. . http://coldcrypto.weebly.com/

I had a look at your page and all I can say is it doesn't look very promising. The device would be corrupt after a few uses and would have no way to transmit the private key to any other medium.

The keys aren't stored on the device. They are stored on external offline memory, they can even be inserted directly into on online phone thaat has and external sd for use,
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: handheld BTC address generator and offline cold storage wallet, Final Proposal on: April 12, 2017, 08:15:08 PM
Final proposal to what? couldn't you use a paid domain? Cheesy I think this storing bitcoins and all the offline/ cold storage thing being exaggerated/ over discussed, there is not much to it other than what it is.
Why don't you do your self a favor? just generate 50 addresses in bitaddress.org in offline mode since it uses your system's computational power to randomize the add-private key combination then store each address with their own private key and print them on paper then cut them in 50 rectangular pieces and send your bitcoins to any of them?
Don't worry no one is ought to steal your bitcoins if you are not shouting about them around.

my device i have been using works flawlessly, Its portable and easy to use, I do generate addresses from bitaddress and store offline, I just do it without a pc or laptop, usually I generate, trade, and put into cold storage while out fishing or sitting in my car

How did you know the touch was tricky. have you tried this?
Yes i have tried it with bitaddress.org (not offline) in my phone, and i know it is quite hard to generate a pair. But i usually try to generate more than 1 bitcoin address on one try so that i can get nice pair of addresses to use in future.

Yes, I always generate blank addresses now for later use, I try to have at least five.
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / Looking for help on an offline wallet on: April 12, 2017, 08:09:04 PM
I am designing a device that is totally offline and portable that the user can use to create safe offline information and data such as business proposals etc. which can be worked on from remote locations free from external hacking and access, in which once the user is finished, can export to sd card or QR screen display for online uploading, Its an offline wallet. I have described some of its uses on reddit under the name eclecticuniversalas. I have hand built, used, and recorded its safe transactions on a global blockchain already. I retain all software copyrights of any applicable software. I am looking for help from developers and coders to make it mainstream. This proposed software would be installed upon either newly developed hardware, or existing older hardware such as an android phone. Any and all help on this endeavor would be appreciated. I am willing to work with already existing software developers such as Trezor, Nano, Bither, etc. , also hardware manufacturers, coders, venture capitalists, and any individuals interested in helping out with the project.

Generating bitcoin address pair on bitaddress files in mobile is quite tricky, you don't have mouse to move around. You have to keep touching the screen several times to make one pair of address. However your idea of making completely offline bitcoin address with handheld device (even with your old phone) is very nice.

Thanks for video but why you have posted this in trading discussion?

When I read the description for trading discussion said "delivery methods"  , the other topics didn't seem to fit. , Was there a better area for it?

And yes it takes a while with the phone and touch screen, This is a beta version so to speak. The bitcoin paper wallet offline runs faster with touch screen as it allows you to drag your finger as well as touch. but it doesn't do the copy and paste as well. Its all somewhere in the coding. An excellent version can be made. I would like github to make a full android wipe and Linux install simple program that can be added upon later with versions that are leaned towards security, or using the camera to take background pictures for paper wallet designs, etc. . Since I have two identical devices now. I use one for my use while the other is used for total erase and new installs. I have changed some of the programs as I find new ones that work better for what i am doing. such as I have quit using opera mini web browser for offline web pages, and i am now using a faster basic offline web page viewer. I now also use the offline eth address and have moved eth into cold storage. Its nice cause now all my crypto is totally off coinbase and into secure cold storage. How did you know the touch was tricky. have you tried this?
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Homemade handheld BTC/ETH address generator and offline cold storage wallet on: April 07, 2017, 02:58:56 PM
I have been using this device flawlessly for almost two months now, never missed a trade, never lost any BTC or ETH. All transactions have been recorded on the BTC and ETH blockchain. Its been totally offline and secure. my private keys are generated offline and only seen by me. My BTC/ETH addresses are easily stored on SD card (or paper). And all the addresses I have ever created or currently being used are saved in offline file folders and conveniently organized for quick access. I can generate addresses and store BTC while sitting in the park or in traffic, and I have never needed a PC or laptop to do this ever. . .  Video update for the last month can be seen here, . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2flm-JuE4qM&t=7s

the question is "why".
when you can use a much easier way of using a live linux (without the hassle of a cell phone and its privacy hazard of constantly being connected to the network and even possibly broadcasting data to your network provider) and print the safest cold storage meaning on a paper, why would you choose to use your cell phone?

Because its portable. no funded BTC cold storage is on it, thats on an external sd card, (easy to stash away), this is only a portable qr address; reader, generator, and transfer system. I have used linux usb and i always had to find a computer to generate addresses. This lets me do it whenever, wherever, and securely on the fly. A linux usb and trezor didn't offer me that. I often sit on a bench in a park or in my car at lunch and generate addresses offline in minutes. I always have it on me as I carry it around with me it always has only one BTC address and keys with around $20 on it (for a beer or quick trade). And other than that all it has is a few blank generated public qr addresses waiting for putting funds onto it, As I have the blank copies at home as well with the private key in cold storage this is no problem, It is more portable than my linux usb, and as a bonus, this totally offline device has a screen for displaying QR and a camera to take a pic of another QR and save it to file.

there is one thing wrong with your thoughts in my honest opinion.
a cold storage is something that you "put away" or in other words you don't plan on accessing the funds in it every day or even every week or in case of long term hodlers even for years.
and for that you don't need or i better say you shouldn't carry it around.

if you want to receive funds in that cold storage, the only thing you need is one address, its public key or since you like it so much its QR code.

if you want pocket money bitcoin then use a hot (mobile) wallet with small amounts that you want to spend.

in short other words. cold storage is the dollar bills you hide in your mattress and hot wallet (portable on your cell phone) is the dollar bills you put in your back pocket. since you don't carry your mattress around with you, around your neck, there is not reason why you should carry your cold storage with you either.

My SD card and printed paper wallets are my cold storage, Once I save my generated info into addresses keys I put them on an sd card and erase the generated address contents on the device. I do however Keep a few addresses on it with about $50 so i can use those funds on the fly.

I started with linux usb. It always tied me to a laptop, I was sitting there staring at the usb and the laptop screen trying to put them onto a single device when it hit me. I wanted the computer and screen on a portable memory computational device. So I dug for an old phone. I am just as paranoid (or more so) as the next guy.  I created my setup from the ground up so I know what it can and cant broadcast. And it cant broadcast anything. Since I built it. I know waht it is.  I bricked it into a hand held QR generator. It does what I want and I am no longer tied to a laptop.

Noooo not with a cellphone! I'd really stay away from your regular smartphones, if you really want to couple it to a mobile device get an encrypted phone, but for that price you can get like 10 trezors...

I paid $11 apiece for two of these, so i could get like 5 of these for the price of a trezor, I have also disabled all data capabilities including gps, you can even disable the eternal hardware, (cut the internal antenna's etc). This is no longer a phone. its a cold offline device

What if you drop your cell phone in some water? Will you have lost everything?

no usually there is nothing on the device, its on a couple of sd cards if one sd card goes down i still have the other, (I never leave the sd in it, and delete the info off the device once backup are made). and what if you drop a paer wallet or a trezor in a lake, . I made a you tube video of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOiTcHHV0sM&feature=youtu.be

root is an amazing thing, and the hardware can be data neutered, and actually its not a smart device in any sense, unless a calculator is a smart device

Both these are pics of my offline cold wallet setup , the first pic is the QR screen, this is how I add funds to it and take funds off of it using my cell phone. The second pic is the paper wallet offline generator, which can then be copied to sd card and printed.

 https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5yrjjh/cold_storage/ . https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5yrk17/offline_paper_wallet_generator/

The complete setup runs in tandem with my cell phone.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making a custom paper wallet using an offline computer graphic program. on: March 07, 2017, 09:50:28 PM
totally offline, I use bitaddress to generate and then save QR as png,  I then backup save the "QR /png" to an offline sd card as well, hence why I would like to finish the paper wallet creation and graphics offline till the finished product, good info, thanks

be careful when using programs to generate these types of things!
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / no answers yet on coinbase international bank transfer fees on: March 06, 2017, 04:21:43 AM
no answers yet on coinbase international bank transfer fees even though i am in the U.S. , is this just purchasing through debit card, or any bank transfers, is this just incoming from my bank for coinbase purchases? is it also outgoing usd to my bank? Anyone know the specifics, tired of losing my gains to all these online exchanges who have no stability, and tired of giving my bank info to them all online, just to have them change the rules and I have to find another, . beginning to think real estate is a better investment than the highly unstable exchange fees and the BTC exchange shuffle game. It's not profitable even when BTC elevates. And the ATM in my area charges up to 20%, I'm not in this to pay someone else all my profits. Anyone here have the answer to the international coinbase/bank fees while living in the U.S.?

thank you, i need a new btc toy while waiting for my market changes. . someone also mentioned qrencode. using a qr png image right now, also the qr image changed from the bitaddress.org generated one to the png image, the png is a lot simpler looking and less complex, but it still works bringing up the address and making transactions, hope this isn't a problem somewhere along the line
