Has anyone wathced that "explainatory" video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8igl34Ip0Gg&feature=player_embedded

I think they estimate their audience being complete infantile retards for making such a dummy cartoon!
Really, it explains nothing and that woman narrator seems like just out of daycare.

LOL!!!

"and Its FUN!"  that line alone was enough for me to say NO!

A malicious attacker needs not to target the pool or hidden service;
since TOR is a relatively low bandwidth network it takes very few resources to grind all active onion routers to a halt.

All active router info is publicly available at directory server.
Every router merely knows the last and next hop, the origin of attack cannot be traced and it only shows up as large amounts of traffic & appears as a normal router

DoS against the entire TOR network is also cheaper than a well hosted single site with high bandwidth.
Even a 20gbps attack would render the network unusably slow. It is a brute force method but it will achieve the goal & make a pool unreachable.

It only needs to last as long as people switch to other pools, and if they come back, target the network again.

Are you an attacker Jack of Diamonds?

Slush:

Is there an issue with payout on BTC right now? Just curious because I had my threshold set to .25 and it was working fine but... Sometime overnight I passed that threshold on 'confirmed reward' (I think it was probably 20 or more confirmations ago) and it is just sitting there, showing in the the my account section but not sending. Since we are down to 10 confirmations left on that 8 hour block from yesterday and the .25 was confirmed and exceeded before that block I think it has been sitting there for a while. I was just wondering if you had set a minimum threshold or if there might be another issue. I just don't recall it taking so long in the past so thought I'd ask.

Thralen

I second this post.  I to am having a problem with payout...it has gone .33 over the payout threshold without paying out.  This is BTC only though as i have had 2 NMC payouts in the last 12 hours where i have had no BTC payouts.

The pool has dropped to 350GH....maintenance...?..i hope...or is it a DDOS?

I would like to hear from the Pool Admin...
I understand that this may be some erroneous issue that is only affecting me and one other person but this should not diminish the need to look into/resolve an issue...especially when the people experiencing the issue contribute to the pool through donations.

I understand that this issue is not affecting other pools or at least i didn't notice an issue when i moved temporarily.  I have obviously moved back as I enjoy using BTCGuild so I will wait for a response from the pool admin patiently.

Thank you.

Well i had this long rant typed out but i erased it.

I decided to come back to btcguild after a month of good sailing at deepbit.

I left btcguild because my miners were not getting work reliably as they should.
A month later, my miners are still not getting work as reliably as deepbit provides.

I see failed to connect errors, disconnected from server, work queue empty, etc...
More then deepbit ever gave me. Seriously.

I am a net eng. I actually control the full path of my packets right to my gigE connection
with level3 which carries my packets to the IP addresses btcguid.com resolves to in Germany.
I can detect a network problem. There aint one. No dropped packets via ping while i watch
miners go idle. The problem happens randomly to miners on different boxes, different cards, etc..

Things go well for an hour and then a couple of miners go idle.. get some work.. go idle.. get some
work.. go idle.. then finally stabilize again.

Something just ain't right. Am I the only one? I doubt it based on comments I read in other threads
over time.. and here is the same problem again. I was thinking it was due to new blocks being announced
with a slight delay but the timing is just not right and other miners chug right along.

I am about to switch back. Maybe other users can comment? Maybe the admin knows of the problem but
has decided this is as good as it gets?

I dunno.

I am having the exact same issue as you.  I use Phoenix with phatk2 for all my miners and there are 16 of them.  My donation is also set to 2.5%..... Sad

Does the pool operator know whats going on and is working on a fix?  i have actually sent a few emails to the support link on the website but have never received a reply....
I am not trying to be an asshole, but if only two people have a problem then it might not be a high priority fix. I am sure Eleuthria monitors the servers and when there is an issue on his end where a huge chunk of the pool is having issues connecting/idles, he works his ass off to fix it the best he can. It really sounds like in order to fix your individual problems he would basically have to sit down with you one on one and try to troubleshoot. There is no guarantee that this will work though, because sometimes you run out of ideas when things look like they should work on both ends.

Understandable...but if one does not post then one will never find out...hence my questions about the issue that I'm experiencing.

this is awesome.  Can you modify it to be a blank screen?

Also it only shows on a the primary monitor in a dual monitor setup...is there a way to make it blank both screens?

5 Thash is enoght to keep the network running. and anyway  at the next difficulty will drop if you do it.

and btw mining should not be profitable. it should run at 0-cost, 0-gain.

but feel free to stop mining at anytime.

No, it should earn normal profits...
no it can not. it is simply supply-and-demand. if you can't grasp it, then you try reading about it.
miners will only gain enough to cover their costs.
if they earn less: they will stop mining.
if they earn more: more miners will come.

I have a master's degree in applied economics...

Mining should earn normal profits, just like any other business. Normal profit is defined as a level of income that is no higher than what you could earn by doing something else with your time and capital. If you can earn more doing something else, you shouldn't bother with mining.
no! because mining is not a job. it is essentially just leaving your computer on, so therefor anyone could leave their computer on and let them do the work for them. you can mine and work at the same time...

this does only apply right now, when it comes to asic/fpga mining, things change...

btw. trowing a fine title at my does not help Tongue

Kokjo thats rediculous to argue economics with someone who has a masters degree. just let it go accept that you are wrong and move on....And to say that mining isnt a job is wrong.  I have 5 full time miners and 3 part time and it is no where near as simple as "letting my computers run"  they require monitoring, maintenance, updating, and tweaking on a regular basis...

Thanks man this is awesome!  Hashing rate increased by 10 for each 5830 that i have.

I'm at work right but i will definitely donate when i get home.
