1  Economy / Economics / Re: Iran’s central bank warns economy may take 12 years to rebuild after war on: Today at 06:49:18 AM
The most interesting thing is that the reconstruction of Iran for 12 years or longer will be paid for by European residents (to a lesser extent, residents of the United States) through high fuel prices.  As a matter of fact, this is already happening. According to the latest news, Iran has closed the strait again and is collecting fees for the passage of ships. Because prices are clearly not going to return to pre-war levels. At least because the oil production and logistics infrastructure is damaged or destroyed. And in the future, it is unlikely to expect a significant reduction in prices. Actually, the real crisis has not yet begun, while there are still reserves in the vaults.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: AI already running through the market on: Today at 06:15:47 AM
There is a downside to this AI revolution. Job cuts = reduced effective demand. Let's see what the success of a business without customers will be. Moreover, AI is primarily being implemented in industries that, in general, are not necessary at all for survival. Now the world is entering an era of continuous wars, and survival is becoming the most important thing. It's just that most people don't understand it yet. As a result, the world's population as a whole will decrease and the overall level of intelligence will decrease. People will become more or less dependent on AI.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You Should Keep Proof of Casino Deposits on: Today at 05:45:54 AM
Since all cryptocurrency transactions are on the blockchain, I don't see much point in saving screenshots from the transaction history. It may make sense to save other relevant information from the profile on the casino's website in case access to the profile is lost (blocked). Of course, such information can be useful in controversial situations. But in general, if you use only cryptocurrency, this is more of an excessive precaution than a necessity.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Betting. Why the Distinction? on: April 18, 2026, 07:36:24 AM
I was today years old when I found out that if betting and gambling isn't exactly the same thing. If you Google the word betting most of the  results will be in regards to sports betting. Also Google the word gambling and you will see most results refer to casino games. In my own opinion whether we bet on the outcome of a sports event or we bet on games of luck and skill in the casino, they are both the same thing. Which is why I wonder why there is this distinction between the two? Why can't we say casino betting just as we say sports betting or sports gambling just as we refer to the casino when we talk about gambling? I know it sounds weird saying casino betting or sports gambling but what do you think about this?

The difference between gambling and betting is the different level of influence of randomness on the outcome. Let's say the roulette is 100% random. And compare it with the bet, for example, on the total in the match - here you can analyze and try to predict the result - this is no longer accidental. However! The less the influence of chance on the result, the greater the influence of the human factor. And the human factor includes not only the analytical abilities of the bettor, but also the manipulative abilities of the goalkeeper in a match where you bet on total. This is just a hypothetical example. In games where there is no randomness at all, only the human factor acts. If you sit down to play chess against Magnus Carlsen, then you lose with a 100% probability if you are not Gukesh. That's the difference between gambling and betting.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do the rich prefer not to buy assets in their names? on: April 18, 2026, 06:51:26 AM
The emergence of the anonymity of wealth is actually an interesting question. There was no such phenomenon before capitalism. Well, like the simplest examples from the Middle Ages or antiquity: everyone around new whose land this was or whose castle it was. In the cities, all the townspeople knew whose house it was. Moreover, they were proud of their wealth and assets. Why did this attitude change to the opposite under capitalism? One of the factors is the division of assets, if the taxation system allows you to optimize taxes in this way.

Another important factor is fear. For example, the fear of revealing the dubious origin of money. Or the fear of not having to protect your assets ("you can't keep it, it's not yours"). In the case of very large amounts of capital, fear already has the nature of fear of exposure, as wealth is converted into shadowy levers of power. By the way, sociologist Charles Mills in his book "The Power Elite" had the temerity to open the veil of who really runs the United States. The gray cardinals disliked this so much that Robert Dahl's book "Who Governs?: Democracy and Power in an American City" was published almost immediately, just to "refute" Mills (who has since been hindered in his career).

Moreover, if a person has several bitcoins, for example, and he hides them, then this is understandable. He can't just physically confront, say, organized criminals. But if the owner of the airport is anonymous, it means 100% that he acquired the airport in a dubious way, because such a high level of well-being already allows him to protect his assets (maintain armed security). By the way, the airport with an anonymous owner is real - it is Domodedovo (it was confiscated in favor of the state).
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you mentally prepared for a situation when bitcoin comes to zero ? on: April 18, 2026, 05:51:27 AM
I do not believe that it is possible for the price to fall to 0. No matter what the alleged network problems may be in the future (even if it is the destruction of the miner's infrastructure, high cost or lack of energy, Internet segmentation, quantum threat, etc.), bitcoin will never depreciate to 0.
7  Local / Трейдеры / Re: Торгуем крипту к рублю. on: April 17, 2026, 10:42:14 AM

8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The economics of 0% house edge on: April 17, 2026, 10:33:39 AM
This is most likely a marketing ploy to attract customers. Actually, in conditions of high competition, I find such an offer attractive, well, at least for those gamblers who prefer slots (and this is the majority). It is important for any casino to attract and retain loyal customers, for which you can sacrifice the profits from several slots.
9  Local / Трейдеры / Re: Торгуем крипту к рублю. on: April 17, 2026, 09:36:04 AM

10  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is starting to feel real AGAIN everyone on: April 17, 2026, 04:28:35 AM
No wonder - prices are rising along the production chain, at the beginning of which is the price of energy. Energy is oil and gas. This is the explanation in its most simplified form. And then there are industries for which oil and gas are raw materials, not energy carriers. These are petrochemicals and, for example, fertilizer production. It is clear that prices for these products are also rising. In the case of fertilizers, this also causes an increase in prices for agricultural products. The rise in food prices is the most dangerous consequence of the US war against Iran. Of course, the rise in logistics prices also affects all prices, but people can live without some goods, but it is impossible to live without food.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: The convenience paradox on: April 17, 2026, 04:07:34 AM
Of course, there is such an effect. Even the "Shop near Home" retail (grocery) strategy used by the Magnit retail chain (in Russia) is based on it. By the way, placing a certain product at a certain height (usually the third shelf), convenient for a person, is also based on this effect and is used in supermarkets. Whereas the product lying on the topmost or vice versa on the bottom shelf sells worse.

14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Enforceability of self exclusion in no KYC casinos on: April 16, 2026, 07:46:51 AM
Self-exclusion is sometimes used as a way of abuse. The client declares his addiction and demands lifelong self-exclusion. Let's say the casino provides only temporary self-exclusion, according to the TOS. Then the client declares that it does not suit him, refuses to exclude himself, and continues to gamble. If the client wins, he silently takes the winnings. And if he loses, he starts to make a fuss, demanding a refund, arguing that there was the very fact of a statement about gambling addiction and a requirement for self-exclusion.

In other words, gambling addiction began to provide exceptional privileges (to protest losses). Does kleptomania provide immunity from criminal liability? There is such a mental disorder - homicidomania (Pichushkin) - does this give you the privilege to kill? Excessive paternalism (which is where the practice of self-exclusion comes from) in relation to gambling addicts only increases their irresponsibility, and most importantly, is completely ineffective, and also creates the ground for fraud.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Kalshi SUING Montana to prevent being labeled as gambling on: April 16, 2026, 07:06:58 AM
I think that the "prediction market" has a very remote relation to commodity futures. It's just a bet between the participants of the "prediction market". But any bet, the outcome of which does not depend on the participants, is a gambling game. In fact, what is the nature of the delivery of goods under the "futures" about the duration of the handshake? Why are absolutely all deliveries on these "commodity futures" carried out in money? In other words, to resolve a lawsuit, it is necessary to proceed from the definition of gambling, commodity futures, and the functioning of the system.

For example, according to the logical continuation of the plaintiff's arguments (in the article on the link from the OP's post), poker is not a gambling game since players do not play against the casino (unlike roulette, for example). Or here is an argument that seems to be taken from Russian reality ("vertical of power"): “One of Congress’s avowed goals in creating the CFTC was to avoid the ‘chaos’ that would result from subjecting exchanges to a patchwork of 50 different—and potentially conflicting—state law,” the company’s attorneys wrote in their federal complaint. The range of arguments ranges from absurdity to political appeals. And these are the strained arguments that make up the lawsuit.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I just want my money back but at what cost? on: April 16, 2026, 06:32:31 AM
In order not to fall into such a psychological trap, as the OP writes, there is a bankroll. You need to stop at the moment when the entire deposit is lost. After that, in the next gaming session (after a certain time interval, for example, after a few days), the deposit is made without regard to the amount of money lost earlier (without the goal of recouping at all costs). In other words, you can only play for an amount that means nothing to you (it's not a pity to lose). Another issue is that over time, a person begins to sum up the lost amounts in his mind and comes to the conclusion that it turns out too much - a tangible loss. This is also a kind of psychological trap.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think that a gambler quickly gets angry? on: April 16, 2026, 06:18:07 AM
The reaction to losing depends on the nature of the character, and not on whether a person has a gambling addiction. Some people are naturally aggressive, and of course an unpleasant event (losing money) can make such a person angry so that he wants to turn his aggression on others. We should try to stay away from such gamblers.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Iran Wants Bitcoin Payments From Oil Ships Seeking Hormuz Passage on: April 15, 2026, 07:22:41 AM
~
I will be anticipating how China who buys from Iran respond, if they'll back off or engage the Us blocking them.

It is no longer blocked if Iran accepts fee's, there are countries willing to buy from them, Donald Trump and his Us naval fleet is the one responsible for the blockage. It is obvious, is it not?! He wants the world to buy from them and not Iran lol.

It seems that the US Navy did not miss one tanker with oil for China, the Rich Starry, and forced it to turn around. However, the Americans allowed another tanker, the Elpis (also with a destination in China) to pass. That is, it is not a blockade, but a filtration. Well, in general, as does Iran. What China's reaction to this is not yet clear, except for the statement that China intends to ignore the American blockade in the Gulf of Oman.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you be in favour of regulating or banning prediction markets? on: April 15, 2026, 06:29:29 AM
No regulation, no ban. Let it go wild.

What is regulation gonna solve anyway? It won’t solve a damn thing. If you think Donny and his family members won’t be able to do insider bets on polymarket just because there are regulations in place, I’d say you are hallucinating. Look how they butchered crypto exchanges ever since they “regulated” them. Now nobody wants to use them anymore. It is quite sad that a lot people want regulations. Maybe these people should go back to legacy banking and leave crypto for good.

I also gradually came to this conclusion. Regulation, even in the form of a ban on certain bets, will not solve anything, just like bans on participation in betting for government employees. Because bans are very easy to circumvent by acting through third parties. That is, regulation is ineffective. It is optimal for the bettor himself to filter out the bets in which manipulation is most likely. These are all bets, the outcome of which may be influenced by people holding certain positions in the US government, or personally by Trump. For example, such as: the duration of the handshake, the price of oil, peace talks, bombing, etc. In fact, this is an individual regulation, as it were, regulation at the micro level, so that betting is honest for the bettor personally (well, of course, according to a subjective feeling).
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Hypocritical masses on: April 15, 2026, 04:57:22 AM
Nothing is clear. In which country do they distribute thousands of dollars to the hungry masses? I'm also willing to stand for hours in the sun for this. In any case, it's better to expect a donation of thousands of dollars in the hot sun than to expect a handout while freezing from the cold. But seriously, why should the population have any other attitude towards politicians besides the mercantile one? After all, for politicians, the population is just a commodity, the electorate, which they almost always deceive in their election promises.
