881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin best option to invest on: August 09, 2023, 08:18:18 PM
There are many types of investment, of which I only know Property/real estate, Gold and other
precious metals and gems, stocks and bonds.

Personally I'm not interested in anything other than Bitcoin, I'm all in on Bitcoin and thats
the way it going to be going forward.

I will die owning Bitcoin!

Yes there are profits to be made in all those other sectors I mentioned above but they will not
yield the same returns that Bitcoin will - why?

Where else can you store your wealth without it melting, evaporating or being chipped away at
by third parties?

What other asset can you have which doesnt require anyone else to manage it for you?

What other asset is as secure as the Bitcoin network and again not have a third party involved?

You see Bitcoin isnt just about 'returns' its about:
Security
Truly limited supply
Transportability
Borderless
Deflationary
Self custodial

and at the same time as more people discover what it offers its value increases, nothing
else offers this!

There is one public example of a person who is all in on Bitcoin and who has enlightened
many others about the merits of Bitcoin....

Daniel evans performance in washington atp was really unexpected and mind blowing after having some difficulties this year he come in the competition and beaten a lot of tough players in the process and won the title congrats to him it seems at this age he can still be in the spotlight.

But not! he lost yesterday against Diallo, maybe he actually did party too much
after winning his first ATP500 title!

I'm very happy to learn that Raonic beat Daniel to set up a round of 16 against McDonald
who himself beat the number 6 seed Rublev.

Medvedev is in action now against Sonego, I have him to win which he should do and
also Musetti who is playing Kokkinakis now and is behind by 1 set, hopefully he can
win this.

So far, 6 rights guesses and 2 wrong: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5455617.msg62649038#msg62649038
I missed the USA and Jamaica losses

Now I'll try to predict quarter-finals, it's harder in my opinion:

Spain x Netherlands
Japan x Sweden
England x Colombia
Australia x France

all 4 matches are worth watching, only the England x Colombia match looks more unbalanced, but I hope we see a surprise and Colombia can play at an equal level
There are good betting opportunities now, especially Japan (2.26) vs Sweden (3.20)

Post your guesses here guys, it's nice to see your predictions too

In reality, I placed a multiple bet on these matches, except my prediction differs from yours in the Japan game as I went with Sweden. The England match remains uncertain, especially after the absence of their star player due to a red card. The English team will need to exert more physical effort against the Colombian women's team, which has put on a beautiful performance in this competition.

I'm not betting all of them but I',m gonna go with The Netherlands against Spain.
Cant believe the difference in adds though, Spain 1.80 v 4.20 The Netherlands. Yea
Spain have been fairly good so far but the Netherlands have performed better than
a lot of their fans were expecting.

Also cant believe Japan are favourites against Sweden, I will be backing Sweden
and they are 3.30

And I will go with the favourites France against Australia.

A bit overlooked event: Wozniacki's return on tour at Montreal Canadian Open. Exciting match today against an Aussie Kim Birrell. Caro won the match without much effort 6:2, 6:2. She is playing the same tennis she used to play before the pause: she is ultra-defensive, trying to get every ball in. She is going to face Marketa Vondrousova or  Mayar Sherif in the second round.

Yea I just caught the last 5 minutes of that match, interesting to see her back but the
real test will be her performance against higher ranked players.

And again as per bct_ail Raonic had a big win against Tiafoe today. Great to see him back
playing. It seems like more than 2 years since I saw him. playing at his best. Nice to see him
along with Wawrinka and Thiem back playing.

Wins by Murray and Zverev today along with Humbert, It will be interesting to see how far
he gets!
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for everybody but we must accept it before it can be ours. on: August 08, 2023, 06:18:41 AM
as per avikz, I agree also the Bitcoin isnt for everyone.

The OP is taking the literal meaning of "Bitcoin is not for everyone" and disagreeing with
it and its right to say literally Bitcoin is there for everyone but the reality is not everyone has
the capabilities to buy and sell Bitcoin by either private of KYC means and secure it properly,
some people are technically challenged, some people would just prefer for someone else
to do the necessary for them much the same as buying Gold, they dont actually have custody
of the Gold, just a piece of paper to say they own it but someone else is storing it for them.

Thats where the saying "Bitcoin is not for everyone" is applied and means to reflect.

Washington DC WTA final: Sakkari v Gauff. My bet will be on the American in this one.

The victory went to Gauff. Important win for her after she was lost in Wimbledon in round 1. But in Wahshington it was a hard court and not grass like in Wimbledon.

It was a very strong performance by Gauff, I really thought Sakkari would take the win.

On the mens side Evans won that in 2 sets, and the first ATP500 title of his career!
That performance kind of came from nowhere though, his season before that wasnt
great. Today he plays Diallo at the Canadian open. I wonder if he has partied
too much or can he continue his winning mentality at Canada....
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 07, 2023, 07:48:43 PM
Super Falcons were truly impressive if you ask me. They controlled the game and remained unbeaten for full 120 minutes. I really enjoyed watching the match,
They were a delight to watch, they stressed the England players so much with their well-executed tactics that Key players for England did not even see an opportunity to play. Lauren James who was had the media's eye before this game was totally turned into a frustrated player. This game is by far England's most difficult opponent that they have played in a long time. The super Falcons deserved to win and make history, they had more attempts on the England goal more times than any other team in this competition. Penalties is a game of experience, and the England team are more experienced and used to taking penalties under high pressure than the super falcons.

Super Falcons did really well, I watched the last 10 minutes and the penalties.
Even a player sent off England were still favourites. I was checking the odds with 10
minutes to go and England were shown as the favourite, I recon this was due to the
fact that they would do better in the penalties, and they did - marginally - but thats
all it takes.

Cant believe both first penalty takers shot the ball wide to the left! and then Nigeria missing
penalty #2.

Yes I think so! The Coldkey saga will definitely have a place in the collectibles history.
For example anything related to MtGox is considered very collectible so I think in time the
Coldkey items obviously the rarer ones being more so will be collectible.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BlackRock owns 8% of MicroStrategy on: August 07, 2023, 07:22:29 AM
Quote from that Fortune article....

Quote
It then sold 704 of the tokens on Dec. 22 for a total of around $11.8 million, citing tax purposes, before buying 810 more of them two days later.

As they said in the report Microstrategy is a net buyer of Bitcoin. Was Saylor testing the
future implications and tax loopholes for future selling of Bitcoin? yea possibly but I
believe he fully backs what he preaches.

And his strategy of borrowing FIAT against something as -solid- as Bitcoin seems like
a sound move.

I didn't know that, but I'm not even surprised. Sometimes I think that Michael Saylor doesn't speak for himself and just says what he told to.

I strongly doubt it, if you mean Blackrock are pulling his strings then IMO with 8%
share in the company they are not and I would counter that they are 8%in on the
company is because of the way MS talks!

Ah TSC - Cold key has been seriously tarnished by the actions of Yogg back in January
of this year.

Check out the post on this page of the Breached or Scam coin makers list thread >

Check your card's balance, if it hasnt been swiped by Yogg, its probably best to
sweep it yourself.
892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 06, 2023, 08:43:23 PM
Today as match was going in first half I was really surprised with the performance of the Sweden team because this was beyond my expectations as USA playing aggressively I was expecting good number of goals but nothing happen, and they have to face penalties which was surely not good because in today match luck was not near their quality and performance...
USA resisted and disqualified because of penalties which isn't that bad after all. South Africa was the first African country to leave the World Cup and I suppose African will follow North American in leaving the race tho. Australia will follow?
Spain and Japan made great victories with 5 goals and 3 goals respectively and only receiving 1 goal each.
What I could say of the USA situation is that they are not lucky this time, they actually played well and defended right too. But as we all know, the penalty is a game of luck, and the Swedish side had the luck this time as fate would have it. I only share the pains of the USA team which is the defending champion, it's so sad that they were knocked out at the very beginning of the knockout stage. And as for your analysis, dream on, Africans might surprise you this time, especially the Nigerian team, they are far better than their men.

Yes penalties have a big luck weighting on them and Sweden had the luck  but the
USA could only secure second spot in the group stages so ended up playing Sweden who
topped their group and are a top tier team anyway. The USA team havent played as well
this tournament as last one.

The penalties were great as are most, its nail biting stuff and a cruel way to get eliminated.

My other team the Netherlands won 2-0 against South Africa, they could be outsiders ATM
to win the tournament, obviously England and Sweden have to be favourites too.

Washington DC WTA final: Sakkari v Gauff. My bet will be on the American in this one. Sakkari has been playing really well so far. Frankly, I was surprised she defeated Pegula in the semifinal. But final is a different story: we all know Sakkari has a final phobia and only won a single title in her career back in 2019. Additionally, Gauff is an American and will be doing her best to win a title on her home soil.

I'm going with Sakkari, I think this is her time to win another title and yes she hasnt
reached any finals in the last few years. She is underdog slightly behind Coco at 2.10,
Coco is 1.75.

On the mens side again at Washington a totally unpredicted result in one of
the semi finals, Griekspoor beat Fritz to go to the final and play against Evans who beat
Dimitrov today also, thats a totally unpredictable final and hard to pick a winner there.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: August 06, 2023, 10:38:52 AM
Jeez, very close couple of games, Dolphins losing by 2 points and Dragons only by 6!

Rugby Union Internationals

Couple of unpredictable wins by my reckoning yesterday, I didnt get to see any of the games,
had visitors over so wasnt going to be sitting on front of the T.V

Anyway here are the 'shockers' IMO but realistically there is nothing at stake in these games
and teams will/should be playing different players than the 1st team lads.

Scotland beating France 25 - 21- big comeback by Scotland to beat the WC hosts

Wales beating England 20 - 9 - its more a surprise that England only managed to score
9 points and no try's

Your vote: Yes
Have you read the OP of Discussion: "Cybersecurity and Privacy" board + Poll before posting?: Yes
What is your opinion on adding the board to BitcoinTalk?:
Firstly I agree that this could actually become one of the most important boards on the forum.
One of and arguably the weakest links in securing our Privacy and Bitcoin is ourselves. Obtaining
all the information needed to stay safe in one central location will be extremely beneficial everyone
and everyone can discuss and learn from one another.
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 05, 2023, 03:03:31 PM

Interestingly Humbert has made it through to the quarter finals, he seems to be having
a very good run over the last few weeks and now plays Dimitrov - I would say both
players are of similar talent ATM but the odds are Dimitrov 1.53 - 2.50 Humbert, he
might be worth a chance at that high odds

Humbert's performance is truly commendable. In the last match, he performed really well and was able to win the match in a very convincing manner.  His opponent Watanuki did not have any chance, to be honest. But Dimitrov is going to be a hard opponent to beat. Certainly a lot harder compared to his last opponent.

snip

[/quote]

Unfortunately Humbert fulled out before meeting Dimitrov,  Its reported Humbert picked
up a leg injury so Dimitrov is into the Semi Finals and faces Evans who is having a great
tournament following a very poor season so far. He beat Tiafoe in 2 sets today, he kind of
deserves a bet and is a good price at 3.0!

The other semi final is Fritz v Griekspoor, its hard to see the top seed Fritz loosing and
not winning the title!

899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: August 05, 2023, 06:48:38 AM
The Cowboys v Broncos are playing currently and surprise surprise its the Broncos winning!

3 other games to follow:

Dolphins v knights - I cant see the Dolphins winning, I think their good form from earlier in the
year is gone, the Knights will be too strong for them so I'm backing the Knights.

Its the Rabbitohs v Sharks following its 6th place v 7th and the Rabbitohs are favourites, I'm staying
away from this one, too close for my liking.

After those its Eels v Dragons - no value there on the winners.

That is a surprising result from todays group match South Korea 1 - 1 Germany,
and surprising that Germany ended up 3rd in the group and they being ranked
number 2 on world rankings behind the USA.

Its round 16 on Saturday and there are some unlikely qualifiers for that round
taking the places of higher ranked teams, South Africa, Jamaica and Morocco
for example.

The match between Sweden and the United States is going to be a cracker,
whoever wins this could potentially be the outright winners?

I think this would be way too early to call the winner from the Sweden vs. USA match the outright winners. As much as it was a surprise that the German women are gone already, it can also be said that more surprises might be in the making.

One very interesting game is the one between France and Morocco. The odds are very one-sided here but who knows. It would be nice to see the women from Morocco to follow suit and play as well as the men did in Qatar. Wink

Ah youre right actually, there are still some decent teams to consider like England,
Spain and The Netherlands.

As someone mentioned a good few pages ago, the tournament is going to get
more interesting from tomorrows kick off with the knockout stage. A lot of new
teams still in it and some of the top teams not performing to expectations.
