461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to ask for help with troubled GPU's Rig (Guide) on: March 24, 2018, 07:13:49 PM
I often find OP ask for help with troubled GPU's Rig with a bit info they gave. Just tried to make it clear, that kind of post won't help.

Applies to anyone asking about troubled GPU's Rig and tried to find the solutions.

First, we're not a mutant with mind-reading ability, and we can't read your minds.

Second, Troubleshoot isn't simple. Not so simple while you hit Enter with your foot finger.

...and many more reasons.

So, please describe to us your problems as clearly as possible.

Describing your devices and software, including:
  • GPUs (including Series, Type, Brands, Memory sizes, Memory type, everything that you know about)
  • Motherboard (including Series, Type, and everything that you know about)
  • PSUs (including Series, Type, Brands, Wattage, etc.)
  • Processor (including Series, Type, etc.)
  • RAM/Memory (Including Sizes and everything that you know about)
  • Storage Drive (Including type and whatever that you want to tell us)
  • Risers (whatever, as clear as possible)
  • Operating Systems you are using.
  • GPUs driver you are using in the current situation.
  • Overclocking Utility software (Including setting you are using)

Some people assume this info above isn't needed, but I can say for sure, it's essential things.

Describing your problems, including:
  • Your act that was causing this trouble, in other words, what you are doing with your Rig before you get in trouble. (If this trouble suspected caused by your act before)
  • If this trouble comes itself, just describe to us as clearly as possible.
  • What have you tried to do to fix that problem? Tell us as clearly as possible.
  • Add pictures when possible.

Don't forget to Say thanks, when solved and lock the thread after.

Additional tips: If possible, provide testing tools needed and also devices spare (PSUs, RAM, Storage drive, even mouse, and keyboard).

Maybe someone wants to add more info required, go ahead. It now seems enough.

If it's a duplicate post, I'm sorry! Just tried to make this forum better. Let's start with little things, if you don't care, Ciao Adios!
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ETH] Claymore Miner Crashes on Startup on: March 24, 2018, 05:43:55 PM
Increase virtual memory (Pagefile) at least to 16GB, greater would be better (adjust to your storage capacity).
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running Corsair 1200 & 1000 watt psu's near max capacity. Safe? on: March 24, 2018, 09:54:53 AM
I talked about this on jonnyguru forums and came to conclusion that using psus on near max load is ok if the cooling is OK and if the psu is high quality. So maybe in summer ill lower the load.

For normal uses it's fine. It would be different for 24/7-365. But I absolutely agree with "to keep PSUs cold", that's why I'm adding more cooling systems near my rig. I'm using Peltier since Air Conditioner isn't my options, lol.

464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running Corsair 1200 & 1000 watt psu's near max capacity. Safe? on: March 24, 2018, 08:42:12 AM
I will replace this 1000 unit with a 1200 one so it should be ok.

that's better

Regarding my 1200 units I suppose I should run them up to 1000-1050 input?

It would be safer and would keep both of your device (PSU and GPU)  and another part also in good condition, at least for an extended period.

I am running one at 1200 input -1100 output,, do you guys think the 1300 G2 from EVGA will be significantly better than my RX1200i from corsair?

With 1200 input and 1100 output, of course, you should choose Evga with 1300 Wattage.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running Corsair 1200 & 1000 watt psu's near max capacity. Safe? on: March 24, 2018, 06:20:36 AM
they all break when pushed hard.

Evga 1600 p2 melted running an s-9 doing 1350 watts 24/7/365 last 2 years 9 months

Seasonics
1200 plat
1000 plat   melted

Evga 750 t2 died

Rosewill 1500 watt tokamak    running at 1250  for 2 1500s
rosewill  1200 watt tokamak    all popped caps with a boom  running at 1000 for the 1200

fractal  1000 watt plat  90 days dead running at 800 watts all 3 of them

I have yet to kill about 15 corsairs but I have since learned and run them more gentle.

Wow...Phill
You have a lot experience with many PSUs brand. Yeah, agree, whatever its brands, when pushing to the limit would break faster. And some brand has excellent durability when given a bit nor middle push, and the other would get a bit damage such as melted.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there a way to install 2 different AMD drivers? on: March 24, 2018, 06:06:02 AM
Thanks man ! I will try it tonight.
So basically i just extract and than stop and go to device manager and locate that folder correct ?

Who are you then?
Are you OP's alt account? Sorry, no offense.

Back to the point. Yeah, that's what I've done with my rig that has the same issue with OP's rig.

One other method that I know is copying a driver file to one different driver version but seems isn't working well for me.

it wasnt me Cheesy but anyway i sold all my rx polaris gpus and switched complete to vega...so my problem is obsolete

glad to hear that.
Good choice then you aren't made dizzy with the driver issue. Ah.. you are so lucky, sell old one then get the new one faster.

468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: need asus rx 480 dual 8gig samsung memory biose mod file on: March 23, 2018, 02:35:54 PM
OP - do it yourself, if you are using downloaded bios mod, possible you'll get in trouble. If you aren't familiar with manual mod bios, just use one-click version (like people above said). Even, if you are too lazy with one-click and you find someone that want to modify your bios, give them the original bios of your cards.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does it make sense to mine via a VPN? on: March 23, 2018, 02:16:41 PM
Using VPN would increase your stale shares. Like mentioned by a few people above, when you are using VPN, it would be increasing your latency to the pool server (assuming you are pooled mining). Most of your Shares would be late to pool server (we called it as Stale Share).

It's goddamn good combo VPN+mining. And it goes without saying that both should be set in order and function well-enough. This review should help vpn reviews

Try it then go back here after.

my base in China uses VPN to have access to nicehash, it is quite stable

NiceHash isn't mining pool, but they are a Hashrate marketplace. If you feel stable, may someone that renting your Hashrate will be troubled.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there a way to install 2 different AMD drivers? on: March 23, 2018, 11:40:58 AM
I'm doing it with 16.9.2 and 17.xx. Mixing R9 and RX series, My R9 get the best performance using 16.9.2, but RX needs the newly driver.

Clean your driver, then install one of your drivers first, until the end of step will be better (but I don't, only up to extracting process). Then install the 2nd driver, up to extracting process only. It is the way to get a folder named "Packages" on each driver series.

Update all of your cards manually through Device Manager. Select driver version for each card in AMD folder on Drive C. Example, your RX 580 need driver (A), so select driver (A) on AMD folder, then select driver (B) for your Vega.

Blue Screen mostly caused by an incompatible driver or may driver signature check. So, if your cards have been mod, don't forget to patch it.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I power MB/CPU with basic PSU to take load off GPU PSU? on: March 23, 2018, 09:20:27 AM
In the current situation, I agree with the suggestion above. Except you want to expand more setting with your cards. With more power space you can expand your cards setting, without worries.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Teamviewer and GPU Mh/s drops to 0 on: March 23, 2018, 07:11:45 AM
yeah i am sing amd, so if i leave the hdmi adapter in the card even unconnected to a monitor and then try accessing it from teamviewer it won't shit the bed and drop to 0mh/s?

That's it.
For new series like RX one dummy video output in one rig, it's enough, or straight to which card that troubled.

For old series like R9 family, sometimes need a few dummy video output.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Teamviewer and GPU Mh/s drops to 0 on: March 23, 2018, 06:47:06 AM
I guess you are using AMD cards, am I right?
It's happened to some AMD cards. But don't worry, a dummy video output without connecting to monitor is more than enough. You can use HDMI adapter or something else that you can use on your mining cards output socket.
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running Corsair 1200 & 1000 watt psu's near max capacity. Safe? on: March 23, 2018, 04:20:36 AM
I understand psu ratings is for Output and not Input so I assume I will be safe, correct?

Efficiency means how much power from the wall would be drawn by the PSU at a current output power.
You must give more power spare at your PSU. Look what I've done with my RM1000i:

In certain situations, your cards will draw more power from your PSU, ex. When your cards adjust fan speed to keep temperature, and it will draw more power.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone solo mining alt coins? on: March 22, 2018, 02:16:26 PM
why not i do with my one gtx970 i mine pxc and i make more then i could pool mining the most profitable coin at the time

Point taken!
Really, I like what you do. When we know the key, with whatever devices we have, we can do Solo Mining. Keep going!
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Information and help needed on: March 22, 2018, 02:01:31 PM
It seems they try to do "Solo Mining" to their own mining pool, so they were asking you to build private mining pool, right? xxcsu has given you the link to do it.

I meet someone that do solo mining on ETH. 31,5 GH/s from 900 GPUs, solving around 2-3 block a day.

Of Course.
I am mining Ethereum Solo with 31,5 GH/s from 900 GPUs

You are the man!  Wink
How many blocks solved each day by the way? Am curious to compare with pooled mining estimation.
Have you tried other Ethash coins? Music coin maybe?

I am mining 2 - 3 blocks a day, best was 7 blocks at one day, but got them with a luck of under 20 % each.
Other coins are not such profitable like ethereum at time.
Got a private multipool with Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Expanse with autoswitching between coins.
I am only mining the "big 3" DaggerHashimoto coins, but in fact only ethereum, based on profitablity.

477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multi GPU on: March 21, 2018, 06:51:24 PM
Sorry guys. Apparently this is really the case. This is weird but seems to be true.

Never mind!  Grin

Nice to know... Not that I really see the point of "modifying the bios signature check only", as I haven't seen any adverse effects of just applying the full patch

Technically full patch wouldn't adverse effects for mining process, Pixel Clock and Refresh Rate patching, used to allow higher resolutions and refresh rates. While the mining process using computation mode, so high resolution, and refresh rate didn't affect much in the mining process

Atikmdag patcher used for modded bios cards, to bypass driver signature check by the system so that the system will recognize those card. Unverified driver signature may be causing BSOD.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone solo mining alt coins? on: March 21, 2018, 03:48:35 PM
I solo mine almost every day but only for 15 minutes. I just like playing the lottery, and maybe one day I'll get lucky and hit a block.

If your hashrate 50% or more from the Global Hashrate, 15 minutes "may enough", but also you need to consider coin's Block Time. Based on my experience, ideally one hour.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to fix problem on rx vega no power on on: March 21, 2018, 03:00:18 PM
i use asrock h110 with 2 psu 2x1000w ram ddr4 i got all gpu working after ther first launch of minning all lee stop working also fans not working and pc not detect all gpu

Have you tried one only card plugged?
Did you find something strange on cards or PSUs, melted or whatever? Just for making sure no physical damage.

You can start with standard troubleshooting. Check all cards one by one (plug cards one by one to mobos).

And you can report all of the progress here. All members here would help you.
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multi GPU on: March 21, 2018, 01:56:10 PM
My first rig was assembled from all of the GPU which I could get due to the large deficit. So on this rig I have works 2's RX480, 2's RX580 and 2xHD7900. All of the GPU working without problems and install additional software. Profit HD 7900 very low but I don't unplug them because there is no free money to buy a more modern GPU.

As long as your cards made a profit, even if just a bit profit, no reason to stop it, right?

....snip....
Maybe overheating? You should give us some more information about your setup. What do you want to mine with the multiple GPU? And you cant crossfire 2 different GPU chips. It should be the same.

Yeah, make sense.
OP - may you need to check your card's temperature.
