I've sent ZEN out from Windows swing wallet with 0 fee by accident, and doesn't get confirmed for almost 3 days. Is there any way to cancel, or overwrite this unconfirmed transaction?
At the absolute worst unconfirmed transaction will expire in about 2 weeks, probably less

Waiting for Zencash team to confirm (or deny) claimed partnership with this coin and david camillieri character. Seems he doesn't exist outside this coin.
ZenCash is not partnering with Vegacoin. There is no partnership in progress, planned, or in existence.

That is good news! I would like to ask the first question Regarding secure nodes, how many can one person operate? Is it best if it is limited to one secure node per person? No limit on home many a person can own, but there will be performance and technical limits in place to help meet the goal of many distributed resilient nodes.

On CoinMarketCap, the Announcements link is still pointing to the old bitcointalk thread. Someone should let a dev know.
Thanks for the heads up - it's correct now.

The previous thread lock seems questionable but alas this is the "host" so, their house.
GL with this thread lol!
Not that I am anywhere near qualified enough to code such a thing... but wouldn't the node requirements and the entire network benefit from a more flexible set of parameters that helped match coin totals and actual process power to those coin allocations?
Follow me here... all the 42 coin node requirement does is allow for a SPAM net of nodes with the MOST MINIMAL resources available to hook in and completely flood it with barely on par performance. I do not know the entire ins and outs of the node proposal... but it would seem to me if it is any nodes chance at any time to calc and submit encrypted transactions, then mostly the high I/O nodes will win out every time, so very quickly all your SPAM net nodes can't profit and die. Now that leaves more expensive hardware based nodes, which likely also means they are being run by those with means to supply enough ZEN to create their own army of high I/O nodes. That creates an environment where your everyday community member can't compete and you end up with a small set of nodes to prop up your growing network. Even if you kept a running order of which node gets to calc the next set of encrypted transactions... that is additional P2P overhead required to do so and still allows a small subset to own node income. It just seems counterproductive to the desired end goal.
Maybe I have no fucking clue what I am saying, but I had an idea to share and if it has merit, please run with it.
Nodes should have SEVERAL coin value thresholds. These thresholds should also be pinned to some sort of benchmark for the encryption of transactions by nodes which will score that nodes I/O throughput . Set ranges for the benchmark scores and allow a HIGHER coin amount on those higher tiered I/O nodes to give them higher priority in the processing order, but only give them the priority of the actual coin amount held. Couple that with a check to see what that node last did over 24 hours or X blocks before allowing it to do so again.
This would add a POS weight type design to this, giving all nodes equal chance I believe... tracking only their last known weight or w/e the measurement would be.
Example:
NODE 1 has say, 500 points on the benchmark which only allows it to participate at level 1, 42 coins minimum and no further coins will give it weight. NODE 2 has say, 1000 points on the benchmark which allows it to participate at level 2, 42 coins minimum and 84 coins max and it has twice the weight potential but no further weight for more coins. NODE 3 has say, 10000 points which allows it to participate at level 5, 42 coins minimum and 210 coins maximum allowing it to have five times a level 1 nodes weight potential.
In my mind this performs two very important things:
1. Less BS tiny nodes with par performance fighting and causing a huge, possibly laggy network of tracked nodes to accomplish the network goals. 2. Invites REAL hardware backed players to build quality nodes instead of quantity, fostering a positive environment that offers those who want to invest, a safe and scalable way to do so within a node.
While I know more nodes sounds better... that was for old coin algo design. I do not see a flood of cheap nodes benefiting this project in the long run. So give some bigger hardware players room to scale while guaranteeing the smaller players can still earn.
It is a delicate balance so I will not pretend any of what you are doing is easy. The above is just one of those AHA moments I thought worth sharing.
Thanks for giving this some thought! Avoiding having a bunch of cheap nodes that don't help the network is definitely part of the design. We are having active discussion on this thread at the ZenCash forum: https://forum.zensystem.io/t/secure-node-tracking-and-payment-system-software-development-project-discussion/126/63And if you are on the ZenCash slack you can see or participate in the testing of the node tracking software in the #developers and #securenodes thread.s

| | Horizen is an inclusive ecosystem where everyone is empowered and rewarded for their contributions. Horizen’s massively scalable platform enables businesses and developers to quickly and affordably create their own public or private blockchains on the largest node network in the industry. Horizen’s Sidechain SDK provides all necessary components for easy and fast deployment of a fully customizable blockchain. Horizen's native cryptocurrency, ZEN, is a mineable PoW coin available on exchanges including Bittrex, Binance, Huobi, and Changelly. Users can securely store and transact ZEN using Horizen's flagship app, Sphere, a multifunctional wallet that interfaces with most Horizen products and services.
| |
| | | |
| | Horizen’s History | | In 2017, Horizen (formerly known as ZenCash) began as a chainsplit from Zclassic, providing a base of ZEN owners. Everyone who owned Zclassic at block 110,000 received ZEN by simply importing the Zclassic private keys into the new ZEN wallet after the launch, received the equivalent amount of ZEN. Horizen evolved from a privacy coin and into a sidechain-based system by building a technology platform with optional privacy features that aims to enable an application-rich and inclusive ecosystem to provide people with freedom and everyday usability. Once Horizen released their Sidechain Alpha, they shifted focus from being a privacy coin to a massively scalable general-purpose blockchain system. The shift allowed them to open more possibilities architecturally and better fit the direction of their project.
| |
| | Horizen’s ecosystem | |
| | | |
| | Zen Blockchain Foundation (ZBF) created in 2017 as a Delaware nonprofit corporation with the mission to facilitate focused protocol research and development, as well as the growth of the ecosystem. Horizen’s ecosystem is a broad collection of stakeholders:
- Horizen Community Council (HCC), a bridge between the community, the Foundation, and our corporate and academic partners.
- Developer Environment (HDE) an open-source developer community organized into a curated and compensated.
- Various corporate and academic partners, miners, node operators, and end-users.
- Academy provides free education around the topics of blockchain technology, online privacy and the Horizen project itself.
| |
| | Dev Environment | | | | HDE will be the main focal point for decentralizing contributions and is on the way. It will be focused on enabling collaboration, making contributing to our project fun and adding incentives for quality contributions.
It will be founded on two pillars:
- The GitHub process will add more structure to the collaboration on GitHub and Zen Improvement Proposals (ZenIPs) are a decision making process and governance mechanism that will be applied to new feature requests and proposed protocol changes.
- It is an established process in many of the larger blockchain projects.
| |
| | Network Infrastructure | |
| | | |
| | Secure and Super node operators are incentivized with a share of the block subsidy of each mined block. Currently, both node classes receive 10% of the total block subsidy, respectively. This incentivized user-owned infrastructure, achieving dynamic equilibrium in node count and returns to node operators, with the geographic placement of the infrastructure optimally dispersed to reduce network latency. Minimum requirements are necessary to ensure that Horizen’s node network is sufficiently capable of running a robust ecosystem of sidechains and the valuable applications that will reside on them.
Sidechains Horizen is designing Sidechains and a Sidechain SDK to allow developers and enterprises to quickly and affordably spin up their own blockchains. We segregated application logic from the main blockchain for both security and scalability so applications can be fully independent, rapidly deployed, and done so without the consent of other stakeholders in the ecosystem. Single protocol Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), a unique protocol that must be used by all sidechains, and it doesn’t require the mainchain to follow the parallel blockchains will allow massive scalability and decentralization to the system. However, sidechains must track the mainchain.
Sidechain Use Cases
- Tokenization
- Privacy Preserving Blockchain Applications
- Smart Contracts
- Price Stable Assets
| |
| | How is Horizen Financially Supported? | | | | Horizen did not conduct an ICO or a pre-mine. Horizen uses a sustainable funding model with protocol-level solutions. Horizen funds project growth by using a portion of the miners’ reward, to be spent via a community governance model. In the Horizen network, 20% of the tokens are allocated for community development, marketing, maintenance, and other costs paid from the treasury. This ensures that there are always enough resources available for growth.
ZEN Specification
Horizen’s mainchain is currently a Bitcoin-like blockchain with Equihash Proof-of-Work (PoW) augmented with a delayed block penalty algorithm for additional protection against malicious chain reorganization. ZEN is the native cryptocurrency of Horizen. Its optional privacy feature allows you to control your digital footprint leveraging zero-knowledge cryptography.
- Algorithm: Equihash
- Total eventual supply: 21,000,000 (21 million), as per Bitcoin
- PoW block reward: 12.5 ZEN
- Current number of coins
- Division of each PoW block: 10% Secure Nodes reward, 10% Super Nodes, 20% Team's treasury, 60% miners reward.
- Coins per month: 216000 ZEN's
- Blocktime: 2.5 minute
- Reward halving period: every ~4 years, as per Bitcoin

| | Voting System | | | | Horizen is building a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) as a voting mechanism to allocate treasury funds to continue the development of the Horizen platform. The main purpose of the Horizen DAO Treasury and Voting model is to establish a decentralized and censorship-resistant funding mechanism for development and maintenance of the Horizen platform. The Horizen Treasury and Voting model is one of the most elegant Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) models in the market. This Is a result of work with IOHK and InfoPulse to deliver a highly complex programmatic solution to the Horizen Treasury System. The ZenDAO uses economic theory, game theory, liquid democracy, and the latest privacy technology to allocated treasury fund resources.

Horizen and IOHK R&D Partner!
| The research projects will be lead by Prof. Roman Oliynykov, a cryptographer, IT researcher, and lecturer. Prof. Oliynykov’s team will handoff the prototypes and provide guidance to InfoPulse, a software engineering firm assisting the Horizen engineering team with the implementation of the two research projects. InfoPulse is contracted directly with Horizen. Horizen production implementation date is not yet available.
The first component of the IOHK research project is to implement a custom version of IOHK’s reference treasury model for efficient decentralized resource allocation and community-driven preference adoption in governance.
The second key component of the IOHK research project is a core protocol upgrade to the Horizen blockchain to address one of the primary issues in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space: Scaling.

Update! Proposal Template is posted on the ZenCash Forum. Right now we would love to have people in the ZenCash community conduct many fast and small marketing activities to create a groundswell of ZenCash support. Anything that is less than 75 ZEN will get quick consideration. https://forum.zensystem.io/t/how-to-create-a-proposal-for-zencash/235
