421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 19, 2023, 03:49:54 PM
Many people find it difficult to accept who they are and the bad habits that they have, accepting a habit is the first step that will determine if any help offered to you will work. As a gambler, will you find it offensive if you are referred to as a gambling addict? will you easily accept it or try to give excuses like some other people do, saying that they are not addicted to gambling when the signs are clearly there. Do you think identifying as an addicted gambler will make people stereotype you. The answer is different for every gambler here.

Absolutely not. Won't be affected because I don't consider myself an addictive gambler. It's very much comfortable too when you gamble in a way that it is not affecting negatively my personal life.

But I think that if one person comes upset, then that's a good sign of self-awareness towards gambling practice. Don't see it as a negative. We have all gone through that. People will always tell you what they want to tell regardless of the facts. So instead of being hard to yourself, think of any solution that will lead you to a better situation. If you don't want to be called as addicted gambler, then act as responsible one.
422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: June 18, 2023, 01:32:05 PM
What happens is that to earn 100 usd a day is something that you can as long as you have a capital of at least 300,000 usd or something like that that you can bet on and you can get to that money quickly, the whales if I could believe them that they earn that, but to an ordinary person like everyone, who has a Medium to low Balance , it is very difficult, I Personally do not think so , but if they do it every day I Imagine that it must last many hours trying something like that , so this type of work that is Dependent on a casino playing , I do not see it Viable.

Why do you think a 300k deposit will help them win $100 a day so easily? Small odds bets lose just as often, so there is a chance of losing more, much more than you can win. And most likely players with such large balances will not focus on such a small win, so the idea of daily earnings from gambling seems doubtful to me, no matter what your gaming budget is.

Well for me I think it's viable but a gambler must have a system and be disciplined to follow it. From 300k he can risk a minimum amount to the gambler as part of his risk management like 1% to risk per day. That after meeting a quota of 100usd, he will stop. But still, gambling lies on probability, one might still have losing days. I am not saying it is impossible. It is viable but it will be challenging. Because of the odds, you are more likely to lose your 300K fund if not managed correctly.
423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ambivalent attitude to gambling on: June 18, 2023, 01:27:16 PM
In my country, Lotteries are used as a Milk cow for the government.... because they milk the operator of the Lottery for bribes (to get the license) and also to force them to sponsor community projects. They also get a huge tax boost from the operator and also the people winning these draws.

I think gambling is accepted, because the governments of this world gets something from it..so as long as bribes are paid and tax are collected.. gambling will be approved. (This is why some countries do not allow foreign operators)  Tongue Roll Eyes
This is how the government operated the lotteries and yes, they are making a lot of money here and that’s why there’s a lot of issues going on, on how they manage this lottery agency and how they choose the winners most of the time make people doubt about the result. Regulations will always take place, if the government will not benefit on that then don’t expect for them to accept it, this will always their top priority on giving out the license to operate.

That is also the reason why despite the fact that gambling could have a negative effect on society, the government still legalizes gambling in a monitored form. Because if they don't, many people could get hooked in a worse gambling site that cannot be regulated. Gambling sites also generates large income which is taxed by the government. Because regardless if it is legalized or not, people will still find a way to gamble, then it is a smart move to the government to have a level of tolerance to let gambling operate.
424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: June 18, 2023, 01:12:37 PM
Quote
Stereotypically, gender is also cited as one of the reasons why people like to gamble. One of the research findings shows that women tend to prefer percentage-odds-based games and men tend to prefer skill-based games.

For example, poker, from a man's point of view is considered a skill-based gamble. While women see it as a game of calculating the odds.

In gambling, generally, women don't like it when others see them lose. Girls probably prefer slot machines because no one sees players win or lose.

Gambling with slot machines is often a personal experience free of guilt or shame. While the men are not like that.

According to research, when a man loses a gamble, there's a machismo attached to him saying, "Yeah, I lost £500, but I can afford it."

And when you win big, guys like it to be exposed right away. Because, they consider this as part of the skill.

This difference in reasons does not necessarily indicate whether men prefer to gamble than women. Women who like to gamble or men who like to gamble are both related to the courage to take risks.

For different reasons, people who like to gamble see it as fun and for reasons that are more complex than just economics.
Read more (use google translate)

Do you think the results of the research above are correct?

I know that the number of women involved in gambling is very small because in some countries, people's views of female gamblers are still very bad and they are considered dirty and unfit to be a wife. maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.

I think gender would be irrelevant to the style or approach of any gambler. Reading the cited research made me think that it would probably be because of the type of gambling project they are into. Take this as an example, if most women plays slot more that men, then statistically women would really be taken the data as thinking in probabilities. If most men plays poker or sports betting more than women, (which most of the time base on skill) then it is just that based on statistics men gamble based on skill.

425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think topics/discussion on gambling addictions is too much on: June 18, 2023, 01:06:40 PM
This is gambling discussion sub board of the gambling board of bitcointalk forum,  and the main goals of the gambling board is where casinos introduced the platforms via creation of ANN threads and also the discussion sub board where gamblers discuss many other topics as relate to gambling.

But recently I have read a lot of topics as regards to gambling (addictions) and it negative effects on individuals and how we have warn against it,  but at this time I am beginning to think that we are focusing too much on gambling addiction rather than employing ways to avoid addiction but at the same time gamble and have fun to the fullest.

The topics and discussion about gambling addiction is becoming too much and too often to the point that most newbie may likely get scared away from gambling which will not be ok for the casino revenue generation so at this point I am force to ear my view of this topic of gambling addictions, becoming too much in this board.

Or what do you think?

I agree, that most of the topics have gone to be more of gambling addiction. However, I see it as a good trait rather than a negative because it spread awareness to the forum. Many are truly suffering and they just want to share their experience or want to ask for advice. But it is also true that too much of it could be detrimental to the promotion of online gambling.

For me as long as a thread is true, helpful, and beneficial, then there is no reason to stop it or force it to close.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 10:26:08 AM
I've seen several threads where people preach teaching bitcoin to kids and I've also seen threads where others talked about having  some savings(investments) in bitcoin  for their kids which is right.

Just as my topic reads, we should stop stressing  kids with wanting them do things we didn't meet up doing and at some points getting them mentally stressed.

Please don't get me wrong because I'm typically  not against teaching  or maybe introducing bitcoin  to your kids but I'm  on the opinion  that rather than bother them with this complicated digital asset (bitcoin) knowing fully well that no matter how much knowledge  we have about it, if we don't have the money to buy, then we'll  certainly  miss out, and judging from this, I don't think it's wise teaching them or wanting to force it on them when we know that they can't afford it.

I will suggest that, rather than bore them with the history of bitcoin,  why not get a portfolio for them and keep investing in it and watch it grow with them and when they're of age, then you can practically  show them the needful.

I want to know if there are people who also share same opinion with me and please lets just discuss rather than argue

instead of teaching them hard facts early that might just make them disinterested in BTC, yeah that's a good point. You can also employ your kids in games that will help their thinking and managerial skills like chess or Monopoly board games. It's not about the money. It's about the skill and the mindset. Teaching kids early in their life might be an advantage but teaching them in an ineffective way won't o any good. As parent you don't force things with your children. You let their interest wonder.
427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whoever gives me a satisfactory answer receives... on: June 15, 2023, 10:19:32 AM
...A big Thank You from me...Smiley

It's over a month since I've been looking for an answer on the internet but there was none, I guess it's time I ask my seniors in Bitcoin affairs about it.

Recently, I noticed a Risk Warning from Blockchain Explorer on my transaction, and when I checked I discovered the warning was due to sending "Everything" in that wallet address to another one.

See the warning below:

Quote from: Blockchain Explorer
If you are withdrawing funds from an exchange, it is okay. If you're moving funds to another wallet, do not transfer the whole amount to another address. It greatly compromises your privacy.

The question is how? What is the security threat here?

Note: The quote is not clickable because I don't want to reveal the transaction involved for privacy reasons.

Do you mean that if you tend to transfer large amount of funds, with the use of centralized exchange tracker you are concerned if someone might know your transaction details such as your address and information. So instead of transferring your funds on one big transaction, you will divide it into many.

If this is the case, the whole balance transfer would still reflect. BUt don't be too wary because it's just most of the time the Transaction address is only information seen. Dividing your transfer might cost you fees but if it will ensure greater level of security and assurance, then it will be worth it.
428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Improve Your Sports Betting Skills and Win More Bets? on: June 15, 2023, 10:07:37 AM
When I saw this topic how to get over it, I wondered how can someone turn a $1,000 into $xxx, xxx amount through sports betting. I was aware that it can be done but what strategy or skills an individual needs to be able to do it? I went into browsing mode as I have done earlier and found out the skills needed to get to the peak of sports betting. Here are my five steps to make your sports betting profitable.

1. The most important step is to Research and analyzes before placing your bets: It is imperative that you gather relevant information about teams, players, statistics, and recent performances. This information would enable you to make more informed decisions.

What do you think?
I only focus on number 1 because it is the most important before someone bets. If he couldn't analyze properly, he might not be able to win. For number 2 and so on, it will depend on how you analyze it because if you have good analytical skills, you can get the right team to place the bet. And for the value of the bet, you can adjust it according to the budget you previously set. Everything, from numbers 1 to 5 is interconnected but the most important is number 1 because research to find a team is the most basic for a bettor before starting to place a bet.

Exactly, above all you must first know what and where you are putting your funds at risk. That's what research is for. You have to understand which team is at an advantage at the given match, Which one has greater odds in terms of the players, home court advantage, the skillset of individual players, and team rankings. With that, you can create your own judgment and just anything else to probability. What you just need is proper risk and money management.
429  Economy / Gambling / Re: Using ToS against users normal? on: June 15, 2023, 10:02:05 AM
The good casino should always be transparent and if there is any change in the terms and condition of the casino they should notified to their gambler publicly as there is nothing to hide in this. Only the scam casino's will try to hide the TOS changes.

Also the users should make a habit to read the terms of service no matter how lengthy they are. They are made for the gamblers and the gambler show read it. In case the gamblers did not follow any gambling casino process and later they get into trouble only because they did not read the terms of service then it is only the fault of the gamblers.
This is true. I know I am playing on an old and legit casino and lately, when I log in to them, the first thing that pop up on my screen is a notice about the change of their Terms and Condition. It's one example on how important it is.

They can always email it or put some notification in our account page but no because they know that a gambler might missed it and they are afraid that they will get blamed once the gambler did a violation due to the recent change. Given that TOS is important, you're right that we need to allocate some time to read it. Don't just read the upper part because we might miss some important information in the middle and at the bottom page of it.

I would also prefer to get a bookie or a house that is consistent on giving a weekly newspaper for updates. Not just for technical updates and changes but also with the promotion of their outgoing discounts and free plays/bets. Just said, legitimate and established casinos won't just change and shift their TOS and Terms and Conditions in an instant. If there is, there might be an anomaly behind that would prevent users from widthrawing thier funds or putting them in some kind of violations.
430  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 15, 2023, 09:48:44 AM
I see poverty as the inability to provide what you need. So when people assume that poverty is when you don't have money I don't agree. Now what if you have all you need and you don't require money to buy anything, are you poor? Some people live in communities where everyone lives agrarian life. They have all they need because everything they need to survive is available. Food is on the farm, water available and everybody is happy. Although it was hard during the Covid-19 lockdown many people lived without money. I have also seen many people leaving cities and moving to rural areas to live a natural life.

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?

Money is just a tool for the exchange of goods. That's it. If you get to an island where money is not considered as valuable then it will be useless.
With regard to your question, well it depends on the way you want to live your life. If it just enough for you to live with your basic needs, food, shelter, and agriculture, then be it. But just take in mind that we now live in a world of extravagant. Designer clothes, travel experiences, and cars. You can only access these things with the use of money.

Yes, you can survive without. But why would you if you are capable of exceptional life.
431  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risk management on: June 13, 2023, 05:08:01 AM
When trading there are rules to observe in other to protect your margin, it's more like if you can't make more money, don't lose the one you have,
That's where risk management comes in handy.
    The strategies are;

_ Don't risk too much money, start with what you can afford to risk. Focus on the risk not rewards.

_ Identify potential risk as;if it goes down, if you don't take profit, if you don't use stop loss and if the coin goes against your analysis.

_ Reacting to risk, use stop loss and always take profit.

Use stop-loss as your major determinator of risk and take profit as your determinator of possible reward. If there is any case that you can take profit partially, do so. That will make you at least in ease because you realize a part of the profit. Then you put your stop loss to break even (depending on your type of trading).

Just remember that if you are a beginner trader, your number one focus must be to protect your capital by way of proper risk management and gaining a lot of experience trading. Preferably that experience would be for a year. Over that experience, you will encounter losses and moments of drawdown and that risk management is your shield to protect your equity.
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 13, 2023, 05:02:31 AM
People are saying that gambling is not good so nobody should involved themselves in it. Fathers/Mothers (parents) are shouting to their sons and sometimes beating them all because of gambling. If you are a gambler, the society sees you as a bad boy or person or a waste person in the family. Parents would be saying "look at your age mates, they are going to school and become a successful persons in the society, you are here playing gambling". They would even say, gamblers steal and thieves.
And really when you look at some of those boys they play Draft game morning till evening. Upon all these allegations against gambling. People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind?

I guess everything in this life is a gamble. You get into university for four years without any certainty if you will become successful, you gamble those years. You enter a corporate job, without the certainty of being valued or promoted. That's a gamble. You leave your job to start your own business, that's a gamble. Everything is a risk and gambling experience.

Then you introduce a person into the gambling industry. Which is basically a representation of one's life. Instead of fulfilling their career, they just want easy money from gambling. Because what, everything is like a casino, it's all gambling. You take risk without any certainty of the result.
433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: June 13, 2023, 04:53:41 AM
School fees or college fees? The article mentions that he is 22-years old. I would expect someone in his early 20s to act more maturely. But then I know a lot of people who have taken out loans from banks so that they can gamble. In the end, they lose whatever collateral they have provided and end up in penury. Some of the conservatives argue that these incidents are quite common and therefore gambling should be banned altogether. But I don't agree with their views either. If we ban gambling, then it will just push the industry undercover and victims of fraud and crime will be afraid to go to the police.

This basically leaves me the impression that once you get easy and fast money, 99% out of 100 you will lose that money easier and faster. Not because you don't deserve it, but because you are not ready for that large sum of money mentally and psychologically. Well of course I feel bad of the student's case, but let that experience sink in to everyone.

Don't put money on something that you aren't willing to lose. Otherwise, you will end up losing yourself.  There's a reason why gambling become legal and that is to make it easier for authority to monitor it. Banning will only make it harder reach for both regulators and authorities.
434  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 7 tips to know about crypto trading on: June 12, 2023, 01:27:53 PM
Most things newbies don't know about crypto;

_ crypto trading is not a get rich quick scheme, it's a process and to be a profitable trader you must follow the process.

_ Never borrow money to start crypto trading, because it's very wrong to be trading under pressure.

_ Never give your coin to someone to trade for you, there is a high probability of you getting scammed.

_It is inevitable to hit losses at some point in the crypto market, it's just normal and it happens in any other kind of business.
What makes you a profitable trader is the ability to make more profit than losses.

_ The more money you put into crypto trading the more money you get and also there is a high risk losses without proper risk management in place.

_ Determination, consistency and practice makes you a better trader.
Don't despise your little beginning.

_ Learn to master your emotions.

And you missed that there is an 8th. That is the actual practice and proper implementation of these 7 tips. You see it is not about knowing, it is how well you apply what you know. Because in trading, you are not rewarded for what you know, you only profit on the market on the decisions you made. And the quality of your decisions depends on the small things that you do in front of charts.

And remember that successful trading is not an event but a journey. Because if one day you realize that you already figure it out and you have the holy grail, I'm pretty sure that on your next trade, you will be humbled.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stop gambling (sports betting, casino e.t.c)? on: June 12, 2023, 01:22:09 PM
Gambling brings so much joy especially when you're on the winning side, when things are all in your favor it just seems like you should never stop. But when it gets bad, you look for a way to pour out your anger, either on someone or on something.
When someone is addicted to gambling I feel it's worst than one who's addicted to drugs.

So much has been said about betting companies regarding how they should be responsible in helping those who are addicted to gambling, although is really hard to do so on there own path because gamblers can't be monitored.
I don't know if booking an appointment with a therapist would help or is something you as a gambler who wants out should do on your own.

The question is if you're a gambler or have someone who is, what's the best way to help out. And what's your story on escaping that addiction (gambling)...

How do you fight this battle?

Change your beliefs about gambling and put another task or habit to replace gambling.

Because all the battles happen in our own minds. If you really want to change, you have to change your self-belief. How bad is gambling in your life? How is it affecting your relationships and finance? Feed yourself with facts and use them as a new norm and a standard for your new self. Then replace gambling with something else. It could be sports like basketball or soccer. A task that will give you the same reward and adrenaline as how you gamble. With different action, you get the same reward and better benefits.
436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take advantage of the price fall. on: June 12, 2023, 01:16:53 PM
Is been a hard knocked to everyone trading bitcoin this seasons especially investment, my friend was sore disappointed for the recent falling of price because he bought $1000 bitcoin but the truth is that we cannot foresees the future in today, this is not the first time the price is Reding down, we should take advantage of this time at least you can use a small to purchase high value bitcoin. I wish we've profound bitcoin price analyst here, many people really wants to know the cause of continues price deflected, if you've ideas please your comments will be very important here. We newbies this days fall victims a lot because of ignorance of cryptosystem. Let's talk as a family.

It all lies on one's expectations. Probably your friend thought that he caught the bottom. That after he buys, BTC will go up ahead to 100K. But it isn't. He is disappointed and also upset because his initial investment decreased because of the fluctuation gone lower. But guess what? What he feels is normal.

The best thing you can do as his friend is to straighten up his expectation towards his investment. Introduce him to a bigger and longer perspective year from now. Give him points of study about BTC fundamentals. All will be solve with proper education and not you can found in a toxic 15mns videos in Youtube.

After that I'm pretty sure he'll be more knowledgeable about what he is going to do with his own investment, will he cut loss? will he DCA? will he hold? All depends on his decision because that is his own investment and accountability of his own money.
437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 12, 2023, 01:10:04 PM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?

Of course, you can. Everything is a choice.

When you earn money fast and it makes you feel you don't deserve it, you will self-sabotage and give the money back by losing it all again.

It just depends on how and where you put your money after winning. Say you put it on a business, and you're really dedicated to work that out. Tendencies are you won't get back to gambling again. But if you put the same mindset on your gambling practice into a business, you will fail. Because business is not easy money. So if your business fail and you still have that thinking of easy money, you will get back gambling.

438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers understood the game on: June 11, 2023, 04:41:58 PM
Any longed time gambler should know that gambling is hust a matter of trying your own luck coupled together with how good you're in planning on a particular strategy to gamble with, we see some results as exactly predicted by us sometimes but this isn't what is common, some other time we may have rhe results that we never expected to see, we should always understand that these are the likes of risk that we may also come across in gambling either when we are winning or loosing, but the house will always have an upper edge over us.
Winning is always the goal; gamblers who are not making money are not developing their gaming approach; we learn new things every day in gambling. Gamblers spend a lot of money on games; some days they get lucky, and other days they lose. Gamblers understood the game, and each gambler has their own strategy for gambling casinos. Profitable gamblers are willing to take risks and face their concerns. I don't wager more than my anticipated targets in order to avoid crossing the line, which results in losses. When I place a bet and it doesn't count my predictions, I stop for the day because going the additional mile for revenge makes deleting your account easier.

And I guess there it is the difference between the gambling addict and the profitable gambler. The profitable one sets limitations for their maximum losses and their limit wins. They understood the game in a way that they accept that not everyday is a winning day. It is not trying your own luck but CREATING your own LUCK. And when you have those days, you push it, you bet more. When there are days that your predictions are likely to be wrong, then the main focus is to preserve the capital.

KYC or
Quote
Know Your Client (KYC) is a standard in the investment industry that ensures advisors can verify a client's identity and know their client's investment knowledge and financial profile.

Reference: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/k/knowyourclient.asp

is part of what we agreed when we sign up to play in casinos but lately I've been reading a lot of complaints
about casinos on how they accept their players' KYC, is it possible that they can decline a person's credentials even though he swore that he submit all the right documents and even undergo a video call to establish his identity?

Take note, Casinos will ask or demand a KYC if there's a big winning involved, is this one of their ways to scam their players?

(don't want to make reference to any casino because other casinos could implement this).

Both parties the player and the casino can agree to do a mediation through third-party/parties. but do you think it has bad consequences if the third party proves the player is right in establishing his identity, then the casino's KYC is not reliable?

If the third-party proved that the casino is right but the player swore that he submit all the documents and is willing to do the extra mile to establish his identity, can we conclude that Casino's KYC procedure is different and we have the right to know how and what system they are using to decline our submission because we can be the next to suffer from this Casinos' KYC system?

If that is the case, then I will consider that as scam as the gambling site use the terms in KYC to prevent players from withdrawing their wins. Purposefully declining KYC of a player a dirty play for them. That is why from the first place, selecting which gambling site would you risk your funds is very important. They maybe certain restrictions, such as one's country's limitation for withdraws.

Most companies won't give information about their system as to how they manage such thing, so if there is any manipulation inside, then just accept that they won't let you release your hard earned wins. KYC should be a protection for both parties, not to take advantage of player's wins.

On June 5th, Apple released Apple Vision Pro, calling it their first spatial computer. It is an amazing piece of technology and innovation. They continuously push the boundaries of what is possible. I watched the introduction on YouTube, and it was terrific.

Check out an expert's opinion on their website.1

Apple today unveiled Apple Vision Pro, a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with the physical world, while allowing users to stay present and connected to others. Vision Pro creates an infinite canvas for apps that scales beyond the boundaries of a traditional display and introduces a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by the most natural and intuitive inputs possible — a user’s eyes, hands, and voice. Featuring visionOS, the world’s first spatial operating system, Vision Pro lets users interact with digital content in a way that feels like it is physically present in their space. The breakthrough design of Vision Pro features an ultra-high-resolution display system that packs 23 million pixels across two displays, and custom Apple silicon in a unique dual-chip design to ensure every experience feels like it’s taking place in front of the user’s eyes in real time.

I wonder what this means for the gambling industry, the gambling experience, and gambling addiction. I would like us to discuss this topic. Gambling with this device would make it feel like you are in a casino. I am pretty sure the experience would be out of this world - the visuals, the sounds, the overall feel. On the other hand, it seems that it could be easy for a gambler to lose track of time while using the device because the immersive experience might make it difficult to see or be aware of the time, leading to a potential increase in gambling addiction. The odds against the player won't change, only the experience. Please share your thoughts on this matter.
