901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin money? on: June 01, 2017, 01:31:04 PM
I do not consider gold to be money.  You can't go and buy most goods and services with gold.  Gold is a commodity, dollars are money.

Dollars are currency, not money.  Money can be a currency and vice versa, but they are not quite the same thing and not entirely interchangable.  And fiat currencies are, by thier very definition, not money.  Gold, in our modern world, is still money even though it's no longer a currency.

We're using different definitions then.  By your definition Bitcoins are not a currency, since I can't use them for most transactions.

How did you get that out of what I wrote?  I didn't even attempt to define what a currency was, I only stated that fiat currency was not, and it isn't.  Trying to have a conversation with a person who tells me what I mean to say is always a futile endeavor.

Quote

What makes gold money?  What property does it have that, say, plutonium, does not?

Off the top of my head, gold is safe for handling.  To be precise, I should say gold is a good money, because it has all of the characteristics of an ideal money to some degree or another...

"Aristotle on good money

Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) was a Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. Aristotle discovered, formulated, and analyzed the problem of commensurability. He wondered how ratios for a fair exchange of heterogeneous things could be set. He searched for a principle that makes it possible to equate what is apparently unequal and non-comparable.

Aristotle says that money, as a common measure of everything, makes things commensurable and makes it possible to equalize them. He states that it is in the form of money, a substance that has a telos (purpose), that individuals have devised a unit that supplies a measure on the basis of which just exchange can take place. Aristotle thus maintains that everything can be expressed in the universal equivalent of money. He explains that money was introduced to satisfy the requirement that all items exchanged must be comparable in some way.

Within such frame work, Aristotle defined the characteristics of a good form of money:

1.) It must be durable. Money must stand the test of time and the elements. It must not fade, corrode, or change through time.

2.) It must be portable. Money hold a high amount of 'worth' relative to its weight and size.

3.) It must be divisible. Money should be relatively easy to separate and re-combine without affecting its fundamental characteristics. An extension of this idea is that the item should be 'fungible'. Dictionary.com describes fungible as:

"(esp. of goods) being of such nature or kind as to be freely exchangeable or replaceable, in whole or in part, for another of like nature or kind."

4.) It must have intrinsic value. This value of money should be independent of any other object and contained in the money itself.

(snip)

Fiat Currency

Money must be a good store of value by definition.

Fiat paper currencies are popular at times since they are convenient and can be created at will to please the public. However fiat money fails the all important "intrinsic value" test, as its value is solely derived from legal tender laws. The compliance of such law rests on the credibility and strength of the issuing authority. As we know government and political factions can rise and fall faster than pop stars in some cases. It's no surprise that no fiat money has ever survived through time, and they can never be viable money regardless of technological breakthroughs or other human advances."

(end excerpt)

Bitcoin is a currency because it can be, and is intended to be, used as a medium unit of exchange.  Yet it does not require the legal backing of any government; so it is not fiat.  Nor does it, presently, have any attribute that would imply a market value outside of the context of it's intended use as a medium of exchange.  As has been noted in other threads, Bitcoin is most like a LETS for the Internet, but even that analogy has it's faults.

I think bitcoin is money. Bitcoin is electronic and digital money that you can use in different transaction like paying bills and many more. I guess there some store accept bitcoin as payment of their costumer so I agree that bitcoin is a money.
902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving bitcoins on: June 01, 2017, 11:13:12 AM
It will be difficult to come up with a correct answer, but for me I think the best thing is to link the amount of BTC in your account to Fiat and calculate the interest on a daily or weekly basis. The rise in BTC last year resulted in high default rate on BTCjam. Quality search need to be carried in the area to be successful
For me saving bitcoin is nice idea to us. I guess there are lot of people who save bitcoin for the future because there is possibility that the price of bitcoin will increase in the future then they will trade it to get much money that can sustain all there need in daily life. I think if there’s a bank who accept bitcoin I guess all bitcoin user will save their bitcoin in that bank because they know that there money is totally safe and no one’s will try to stealth it.
903  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I grow my btc? on: May 29, 2017, 01:07:43 AM
Hey guys I'm not sure if this is the right place so please tell me if it is not. With that out of the way, I have a question for you all. I have recently been able to gather about .5 btc through minor trading and I was wondering if there was any method or way to grow this btc into a larger amount safely and fairly quickly. Thanks!
There is no qucick and safe process of growing your btc. However there are just quick but risk way which is gambling and slow but less safe way which is through investing with altcoins. For recomendation, focus in trading with scalping method so you can earn quickly and safely yet the profit isn't huge as you are eliminating risk in this method.
904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your bitcoins? on: May 29, 2017, 12:36:44 AM
Hello everyone as the title says ^
Do you store your bitcoins online or on a wallet on your computer, perhaps cold storage?
I do store my bitcoins online regardless if it's huge or not. I'm confident for its security as my gmail has a 2fa security and also my wallet. Thus, there is no reason for my wallet to get hacked. Using hardware wallet is also great to use however, it's not convininent if you need it immediately.
905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is better? To gamble or to invest? on: May 28, 2017, 01:29:34 PM
I think investing is more risky than gambling because most of investing websites are just scam, but in gambling you have better chances to make your bitcoin grow. How about you guys what do you think?
It's better if you invest to that time is no being wasted as you do in gambling where in time could be wasted if you don't handle money loss due to unfortunate bets/rolls.
906  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How is trading *not* gambling? on: May 28, 2017, 12:50:38 PM
Trading is a not gambling. but trading is a buying and selling, and the profit are generally through buying at a lower price and selling in higher price but in short time only, there is no risk in trading because you hold it in a short time. The possible is earn easily and double your money in trading this can be an good investment and make fast money.
There are always risk in trading and gambling has more. For better explanation, trading without analysis should be consider as gambling and gambling is pure of guessing and luck.
907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best source of bitcoin nowadays? on: May 28, 2017, 12:04:56 PM
The best source of income today is investments(others). Most of traders are getting a little bit profit from doing what they called scalping. However, I found investing in altcoins more profitable as it can mulitply your money unexpectedly specially when you invest huge amoujt of money in ICO and it succeed.
908  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HOW MUCH YOU EARN/LOSE FROM TRADING on: May 28, 2017, 10:26:20 AM
How much money do you make from trading ? Your expect and result, Also never forget to tell your principal

Thank you

I don't know whether it has the same topic like this before or not if yes please post here,

No one can actually tell the exact the amount they lose/earn as it's complex,  it consist of decimals and it's also bitcoin based thus it's not worth it to sum it up. It would be better if you ask us if do we earn more in trading than lose vice versa.
909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Rich from Gambling? on: May 28, 2017, 10:00:31 AM
Actually i never saw a man, who has rich from Gambling?
I m not playing gambling because i saw a lot of people who has lost everything in gambling.
So i want to ask if anyone is here how has rich from GAMBLING ??
Many people get rich in gambling but not all of them stays rich as they lose their money after getting rich due to greediness. Gambling is a temptation, if you get rich from it then you are lucky. Don't try to cope for more if you have enough profit in gambling. Greediness will surely bring you down dramatically.

911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game? on: May 28, 2017, 08:38:52 AM
As you know that you need to stop and leave the game? How can you feel this moment. I almost always lose their money because they can't learn when to leave the game. I'm not sorry to lose. I have a lot of money not to lose, but I can't keep the winnings if I'm lucky.
No one can know when to stop the game/how to stop it sincd everything in gambling is not easy controlled once you are in there already. However, if you have a right money management, you will stop whe you win at once to prevent loss.
912  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to start trading with a very small amount on: May 28, 2017, 07:44:50 AM
as i am a newbie.. i know nothing about trading... what should i do to start trading and multiply my btc.. guys please help me
If you onlly have small amount of money, don't trade it since it's not worth it. It's better if you would just gamble it so you can multiply it easiy if you're luck then use it to do trading.
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3 Cryptocoins and Magic Lamp on: May 27, 2017, 10:55:29 PM
Imagine that you've found a magic lamp. When you rubbed the lamp, a genie appeared and said "I have been sent here by Satoshi Nakamato. Since you are an unfortunate trader from cryptocoin world, i want to help you. tell me 3 cryptocoin, and i will tell you how much they will worth in 1 Jan. 2018"

So how would you answer?  Cheesy which coins would you choose?
I would pick Xem, ETH , Monero since they are the coins that is has a blockchain that can make them be more popular from now and can be convert into fiat money soon.

914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: May 27, 2017, 10:35:11 PM
There are some good coins to buy at this moment, most valuable ones in my opinio are Stratis, waves, nem and i like golem too. Best one to me would be Stratis. Do your due diligence and invest in whichever you feel most safe with.
People have their different favorite coins. I think all of them are good yet not alll of them are safe. I usually tend to the support resistance in choosing which coin to trade so that there is no too much volitality can occur.
915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of wallet do you use? on: May 27, 2017, 09:35:39 PM
I'm using web wallets for making transactions/investing my money in bitcoin, and also for storing the profit I got in making profit online.
916  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Alert when going up again? on: May 27, 2017, 09:32:32 PM
Are there any websites which can alert user when altcoin stops going down and starts going up?
You can use Blockfolio app for getting an alert in the status of the altcoin you are holding.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: May 27, 2017, 09:04:21 PM
Yes I am.  I'm currently holding XEM, WAVES, and ETH as they have a powerful support for making resistance from dump.
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a problem gambler? on: May 27, 2017, 08:50:50 PM
Not everybody has a problem gambling, but if you are a problem gambler, there is a support network they may help you. It starts with you recognizing the problem.

Start here:
http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/content/20-questions

Let's work on this together, you're not alone and you don't need to suffer from your addiction. If you have solutions or have the compassion to provide moral support, please help by participating in this thread.
Gambling addiction can not be stopped by someone perhaps if he's addiction is severe. Sometimes, only himself can make himself. However, it's good that there is a service like that so there is a possibility that gamblers who has an addiction in gamblimg coul be lessen.
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a source of income? on: May 27, 2017, 11:49:28 AM
Today many people rely on bitcoin, in the sense that they are now focusing on the world of cryptocurrency, leaving their jobs

Is there something like this, is there any special tips because i want to focus but not yet dare?

Bitcoin is only an example of alternative income which can be source of major income thus it can be source of income.  However, it should not be the only source of income since there is no assurance in making profit online.
920  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does experience matter in gambling? on: May 27, 2017, 10:12:21 AM
as I know experience is important in some gambling games such as poker, but how about the other games like dice game or roulette, do you gain any advantage from your experience, can you used your experience to win the game? or maybe because of your experience you know whether to bet low or high in dice game

So Does Experience matter to you?
Abosolutely it's not. Gambling is pure luck thus I don't see anything difference between newbie gamblers and long time gamblers. Long time gamblers might smarter in making money management but they don't sometimes, they loose the control.
