Hey guys, little off-topic here but I was wondering what wallets are you guys using? Are you using hardware wallets? A combination of different types? Would love to hear your input! I use Ledger Wallet and breadwallet. I try to keep my btc off the exchanges as much as possible and follow the mantra "not your private keys, not your bitcoin".

Anyone know why the price has dropped quite a bit? Just curious.

Block! by rwwilson75 finally 16.69 BTC and 3 payouts Finally!! I've been staring at my screen for 48 hours! haha So just because i'm new and ignorant. rwwilson75 actually found the block right? but it was distributed to everyone in the pool since we all pooled our resources? pardon the simplicity of the question lol That is correct, we will all get a portion of the block based on the amount of work we've done. We just like to honor the blockfinder.

OMG! If you want a REALLY good reason to not mine on AntPoo? So we got block 481954 at 08:22:34 UTC It's just been confirmed an hour later with block 481955 by AntPoo I was watching/waiting for the confirm very closely - I even switched up our main bitcoind block size to 998,888 while waiting for this block (it used to be 988,888) The reason? By the time it was an hour waiting for a 481955, our work size was over 17.75BTC OK all good, then what happened? AntPoo gets block 481955, confirming our block 481954 ... but their block is ...... EMPTY!?!?! WTF?!? Who the hell is the retard at AntPoo who runs the pool? That's just unbelievable that they could do anything that stupid So we're now awaiting whoever is gonna find 481956 - which would be good if it was us since our work is now ... 17.92BTC and still growing Edit: At 09:35:46 still waiting, and now over 18BTC! Edit2: ah well, someone else got 481956, and it was an 18.34 BTC block Also Block #481950 had 19minutes to be filled with transactions before being found by AntPool. There have been several empty blocks this week which were mined by AntPool. Could it be that they are intentionally trying to backup the network to get people to use BCH?

Kano, any issues with setting our payout address to a SegWit address?
If you mean the buggy P2SH addresses that start with '3'? They've been around for a long time and I paid one from the very first pool block Yes the P2SH Addresses, I feel like it would be better when consolidating mining rewards. Could you elaborate more on your opinion of the P2SH address?

I mine at Kano and do believe it's the best pool around. I like getting my piece of the transactions fees, where some pools do not share, KanoPool does share the transaction fees with his miners. I also think Kano is fair and provides great support. I believe Kano will get you your dust payments at some point in the future, just like everyone else who has dust on the pool.
The thing I don't understand is, Kano has made all of this clear, and yet here you are losing sleep and time festering over the thought of never getting your dust. Is it really worth it?

more than 60 hours, no block... what a bad luck Yup, this happens every now and then.

Wow, they not only are stealing your old coinbase name but showing our data on the blocks as well. KanoCKPool.com is definitely scam.

This is a very good article or post about the split although late I would like to ask permission to republish to another forum where I actively posting too, this is to help and guide my co members thanks for the article.
There have been several posts regarding the fork and segwit. Which one are you referring to in this thread? It's hard to tell since you didn't quote anyone, or are you speaking to the entire thread?

As of Block #479707, SegWit (BIP141) has met 95% threshold for the current difficulty period. It's not officially locked in until the end of the difficulty period which is sometime tomorrow at Block # 479808. There will be a grace period of 1 difficulty period or 2016 blocks to allow miners, wallets, and nodes to get support SegWit. SegWit will be officially activated at Block #481824 which will be sometime around Aug 22nd. Edit: I found this post which might help add some more clarification. https://medium.com/@jimmysong/segwit2x-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-2mb-hard-fork-27749e1544ce

Hmm ... well ... segwit is already locked in BIP91 did that. If you happen to have twitter (no I don't and never will) get them to fix the pool name if you can. It's KanoPool (it says it there in the coinbase so they shouldn't require any verification ...) At least you see the cat there also Blocktrail doesn't show the UTF-8 symbols, btc.com does though. I reached out to him on twitter to change it.

Kano or anyone who might know can you please tell me if buying an Open Box Ledger Nano S is secure thing to do? Because I bought one couple of days ago and it said new in the description but now the guy tells me that he opened the box to take some pictures of it! I think when I was setting up my old Ledger wallet it let me pick from 2 options, one was setting up a new wallet and another was to recuperate an existing wallet so he couldn't have done anything to save something in order to access it later on could he? Thanks! I believe that there is a signature mechanism between the Ledger Nano S and the Ledger Wallet Chrome App, so it would be very hard to fake the Ledger Nano S hardware and firmware. Edit: Found it! It's called Attestation. https://blog.ledger.co/how-to-protect-hardware-wallets-against-tampering-cad35cb72c1You could also open it up and verify the hardware's integrity per these instructions https://ledger.groovehq.com/knowledge_base/topics/how-to-verify-the-security-integrity-of-my-nano-s

With fees dropping, I decided to move some coins around and sent a transaction with a 0.5 sat/B fee. I'm concerned it won't get confirmed. I sent the transactions with RBF enabled, but I didn't save the transaction in Electrum. What are my options if it doesn't get confirmed?
After 24 hours my original transaction seemed to disappear from my wallet, so I ended sending out the transaction again with a 4 Satoshi/Byte fee and it confirmed within an hour. This ended up being a double spend because my original transactions still persisted in the mempool, and there was even a double spend warning in the block explorer I use, which is a nice touch. I believe I could have waited 72 hours and the nodes would drop the original low fee transaction from the mempool, but I didn't want to wait that long. On another note, I'm finished dumping all my BCH for free BTC!

Because Bitcoin Core doesn't have hardware wallet support for Trezor and Ledger Wallet.

Block by Canaan!
and a payout We get to keep the $1 Awesome, I'm assuming the payout was one of the transactions you pushed out with an extra miner fee?
