41  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: easyminer vs BFGminer hashing variation with BFL little single on: October 12, 2013, 04:02:16 AM
Probably not since Easyminer really is just a pretty GUI interface that runs BFG in the background.  As for the pool side, thats just an estimate on your hashrate depending on the amount of shares you submit during a snapshot time period (usually like 15 minutes). So if you turn out some lucky shares/solve some higher difficulty shares/the pool isnt reporting shares and needs to catch up then that can be affected (I have had my Jalapeno clock in at nearly 20GH before because the pool took a while to record all of my shares that when it did it seemed as though I was hashing at a much higher rate).

Dude, totally unrelated but:  I LOVE your profile pick.  Akuma is awesome.  Done...

I've been trying to run CGMiner for 3 days on my Miner.   I totally need help!  I am running Linux Mint (13) and keep running into the Segmentation error.  I've gone through all sorts of posts and forums and I just can't seem to solve the problem.  I'm brand new to the Linux OS and while it was love at first use,  I'm still lost in the sauce.  Can anyone help me!??!?   I will answer whatever questions I can but currently I am as noob as noob gets when it comes to Linux, however, I am familiar with CGMiner for Windows.

Hey guys,  I'm currently running Linux Mint and have been struggling with CGMiner (note that it's CG and not BFG).  Reason I'm posting here:  Which one is better for mining.  Currently I'm using BFGminer to run my BFL Asic miner (running on a separate computer) and it's so similar to CGMiner that I kinda wanna try it.  I have 5 7970s and am using them to mine LTC.  Does anyone have a real answer (I don't care about your preference... not to sound rude or anything, I want to know which one is better)?

U never mentioned ASICMINER? They now run 25% of the total network hashrate using their own ASICs, up from 10% to 15% a few months plus they have started selling mining hardware to individuals (blades + USB disruptors). Some stats here: http://www.deepfriedcat.com/ - note these are just for their own ASIC, not hardware they sell.

This.  To be saying things like what was said in the OP and neglecting to take asicminer into account is just silly.

ASICMINER has 13.02 Th/s, the network hash rate is 138.989 Th/s,  that's just under 9.5%.  Where the hell did you get 25%?

Remember when you point your finger at someone their are three looking back at you.

I don't know what kind of weird crooked fingers you have, but when I point at someone, I point at someone, not 4 different things.

http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3uxgwh/

He is referring to when you hold your arm out infront of you and have your index finger extended and your middle, ring, and pinky on your palm. The index finger is pointing in front of you, while the others are pointing at you.

This is why Marines point with a knife hand. Ooh Rah

Give it up guys. BFL is delivering. If you want to bring them down, then deliver a business plan to me for a better ASIC miner.

The latest product they shipped was ordered 10 months ago.  I'm not the kind of guy that wants to blast people for a few mistakes, but this makes a lot more sense considering what I've already suggested in my initial post.

Whatever you say guy.
Correction to the post has been made. Thanks.

Learn the difference between "there" and "their" or STFU

Simple mistake guy.

I just want to throw it in there that BFL_Josh is completely unprofessional and a huge douche.  Sure, I believe they will ship, but his complete lack of professionalism irritates the crap out of me; BFL_Jody is much better but could still use some work in that department (however, I have noticed a big improvement in her professionalism over the last couple months).

So a buddy of mine have been talking about BFL and have come to an interesting agreement. (Note: I have one preordered and he preordered but took a refund within 45 days, to ensure his refund).

I'm sure most of the people on this forum have noticed the outstanding difficulty increase.  At first, I thought it was because Avalon put out their ASICs but the difficulty went up pretty drastically over the course of several weeks (about 3 mil every diff change) and seems to be averaging out at just under 20 mil.  I'm not a mathematician but this seems to be too big of an increase for just 300 60Gh/s ASICs.

We came to agree that that BFL is actually producing the ASICs that they promised but are holding on to them and mining with them until it becomes more profitable to sell.  Once profitability per miner drops to a certain level, they will ship.  This makes more sense to me than anything else because I also noticed that NMC has been jumping in difficulty.

Using just the 3 crypto-currencies that are on allchains.info, I assumed that BTC GPU miners would jump ship to LTC (because they're much more profitable than NMC and BTC, according to dustcoin.com).   While LTC difficulty has jumped up a good amount, NMC and BTC has jumped up a lot more (a 3mil+ projected difficulty increase for NMC and ~500k for BTC at the time of this post).  So LTC going up was expected, but what wasn't expected (in my opinion) was the massive increases for LTC and BTC (and who knows about the other SHA-256 based coins).

Currently, only Jalapeņos have been shipped, no singles or little singles and to my knowledge, no singles/little singles have been shipped to anyone for any kind of testing (as they did with the Jalapeņos) one single HAS shipped, but it's the 50Gh/s one, not the 60Gh/s (which was the original hash rate). The Jalapeņos they did ship are only from august 24th (according to the latest update from BFL_Jody on the BFL website).

So what does everyone think about this theory???

Have you tried 12.6?   These cards shouldn't be xfired anyway.
53  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5 AMD GPU's in windows possible? 1 LTC For whoever helps me solve this on: May 17, 2013, 05:25:10 AM
I guess you can try Windows 8. Windows 8 (supposedly) allows for 5 GPUs without any special settings or drivers.  Wouldn't hurt to look into it.
54  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5 GPU Miner on: May 14, 2013, 09:17:53 PM
Stop screwing around with Linux if you are a Windows user. Is just another occasion to get lost in Linux and coming back crying that Linux is bad.
Bad performance in Linux my back...

Both OS will run those cards just fine.
Here is one guy running 6 cards in Windows: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=193695.0

If you people cant run 5 freaking cards in Windows then I doubt Linux is for you.

Sheesh, strike a nerve? lol

Catalyst 12.6 will allow 5 GPU's.  I'm using it but the downside is that with 13.1 and 4 cards, I was getting ~755kH/s.  The downgrade to 12.6 dropped it to ~738 per card (could also be internet connection related but I'm not certain).
56  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5 GPU Miner on: May 14, 2013, 09:00:43 PM
I'm about ready to jump in car and go pick this up: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2713117&CatId=7246 then install ubuntu and see how that works.

My issue is I can't go back past 13.1 since I have 4 7950s and 1 7870 Tahiti(7950 with cores cut down). The 7870 wont install on anything earlier then 13.1.

I understand that this board has enough PCIe slots, but I don't think it's a good idea to use that many 1x slots.   I don't know that much about this, but apparently you can fry the motherboard with too many cards.  16x provides more power than 1x (I assume).   You should look at this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-ga990fxaud5

That being said, it's your build to do with as you please. As for me, I'm looking into buying powered risers to be on the safer side.

I tried 12.6 and it didn't work for me.  I sure would like to know the answer...

It's 12.6

WARNING: I void warranties!

http://www.invisiblerobot.com/pcie_x1/

I would never do such a thing to a $420 card! Especially if I can by a $3 riser that does the same thing (without damaging the card).
59  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5 GPU Miner on: May 09, 2013, 11:43:37 PM
Solved the problem.  Catalyst 12.6 did the trick.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help getting my 7970 past the 660khps barrier on: May 07, 2013, 09:25:48 PM
So there must be other hardware getting in the way, I've tried that exact setup in cgminer and I end up getting more HW errors than anything else.

Redo the settings I posted earlier, except this time (in the same window before you put in the command in command prompt) type this: setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100.   That might fix your problem.
