148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: September 26, 2013, 11:34:03 PM
When Mt Gox first opened in July 2010, I'm sure most people in the community would've considered you a bit of a wacko if you'd suggested that bitcoin would be changing hands at $30 in less than a year. While I don't think the exchange rate will hit four figures in the near future (next few months), it's far too risky to make predetermined judgments one way or another. Long-term valuation of bitcoin is probably either very high or zero, though.

Why it cant be between 100 and 1000 in let say ten years? If the Bitcoin will be used, it doesnt need to have 0 value. And very high, like 1mil USD/BTC will never happen, its only crazy dream

Welcome, mining is fun, but the ASIC rigs cost a lot

Welcome, just don't buy any mining hardware.  Buy BTC only.

It is good advice, but who will secure our Bitcoin ?  Tongue

A graphics card (aka GPU) makes a much more powerful miner. A top GPU can mine about 700 megahash (700,000,000) per second. It will mine about 0.00007% of the 3600 bitcoins per day. That's a lot more than a CPU, but it is still not worthwhile because it still doesn't pay for the electricity.

Not true for Scrypt alternative coins, I mine with my GPU with slight profit

157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do i have to download all blocks to start using my bitcoin on: September 07, 2013, 10:50:41 PM
Any full wallet really.
But Bitcoin is really the slowest one to sync from the start as it has a lot of transactions and is the oldest.

True, just use a blockchain.info wallet, no need for download of the block chain.

159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL 30 GH = RIP OFF on: August 26, 2013, 10:54:27 AM
lots of BS from the topic starter:

I have a 30gh miner from BFL. With current difficulty it makes almost $ 28 a day. I pay a lot for electricity, about $ 0.30 per kwh. The minier puls 150 watts from the wall and the pc about 25 watts (it's mostly iddle as the miner does most of the work), that is 175 watts or 126 kw a month, and that makes $ 37,80 on electricty a month. I ordered the miner on preorder (on;y way to get the 30gh) and you probably paid (just like me) $ 600 for it (upgrade from 4 jalapeños). I've been mining for 10 days now and 12 more days, I'll hit ROI not including power costs, but that is like a few more days mining.

edit: now why as a "senior member" do you post such BS in the newbie section? we "senior members" should help newbies and your post doesn't help.  Tongue

Nice info, I didnt expecting to make such quick ROI. Hopefully these devices will arrive fast

Here is a fun experiment.   Put 3x 7990s in a sealed 3U or 4U rackmount chassis and try to keep the cards from burning up.  There is a reason that people use open rigs.  Trying to remove that kind of heat is next to impossible.

You have to use water cooling
