121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Terraminer IV already has one dead board (CTA / core) on: April 22, 2014, 05:02:49 PM

I got mine and similar story. Started out for 2 days at 1.6. Now CTA1 is stable at ~806 GHps but CTA0 keeps drifting down, now at 216. I've tried restarting cgminer, restarting system, and unplugging, waiting over 5 minutes and plugging back in.

For $6,000 this is a piece of junk.
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: April 22, 2014, 01:49:44 PM
New price for AntMiner S1: 0.855btc each one, shipping cost included.
Anyone know how long an RMA request takes?  I sent Bitmain an email and was wondering what other people's experiences were. I have 2 unhappy Antminer S1. Thanks!
Resend your same RMA email as a friendly reminder. I've sent 1 of 20 S1s back for an RMA replacement.

What are your S1s doing?
123  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: April 13, 2014, 02:05:00 AM
Also I just got a miner where the fan refuses to come on. I wasnt paying attention and the miner got to 80c....oops. I took the fan off, look for debris and it is fine. I plugged it into another miner and it spins right up. So it seems to me the miner is not telling it to spin. Any idea what may be causing this?

I plug my fans into the PSU.

Antminer S1 Sales open  Smiley

How long does it take BitMain to send a warranty replacement  Huh
I had an S1 that was DoA and another S1 that had a blade die after about a week. I first requested an RMA March 23rd and you replied requesting LuCi screenshots for the dead S1s. I sent them March 24th and have not heard anything since  Cry

The reason we found 4 in a row was that for short time PPC was more profitable than BTC and MultiPort switched over 100 THps to PPC. All my round shares that have been accumulating since January got paid on the first block. I don't believe MP has switched to PPC since January and so we've never had enough hashing power to find a block until now. I think that's all there is to it.

In a nutshell:  Mine PPC quick  Shocked
[...]
MultiPool has not found a PPC block since January and has stopped displaying estimates, but, continues to record round shares in the database.

I'm mining PPC now because I believe it will become the most profitable SHA coin for a spell just after BTC difficulty increases. After MP switches to PPC we'll be able to find new blocks every few hours.

Lol!  No way I'm going to waste my Asic-cycles into this black hole.
Those round shares recorded now will be voided after another two weeks of "still-no-block-found".

Edit: But then again, yes, if more people can be motivated to waste their asics on PPC, then maybe diff for other coins would rise slightly slower... so, yes, good plea!

Four PPC blocks were discovered in a black hole yesterday. Stephen Hawking ponders the implications  Grin

It's been 12 days since BTC difficulty increased. I believe it's increased on average every 12.5 days. BTC difficulty will increase by 12 to 20% any minute now.

[quote author=djaychela link=topic=416572.msg6020496#msg6020496 date=1396375542]
Can anyone give me any ideas as to why this is happening?
Two Sapphire 7850s, which in cgminer and bfgminer mining scrypt give pretty much identical results (been running them since August).
Running vertminer with the settings below, one card gives about 6Kh/sec, the other gives 170 or so.  From what I've read, 170 is about what I should expect... so why is the other card doing almost nothing?
I'm using the .conf file, and here are the relevant settings:
[code]"lookup-gap" : "2",
"expiry" : "30",
"scan-time" : "5",
"shares" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-engine" : "1050",
"gpu-fan" : "0-85",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-memclock" : "0",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0",
"gpu-powertune" : "0",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000",
"intensity" : "12",
"temp-target" : "75",
"temp-overheat" : "85",
"temp-cutoff" : "95",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "64",
"thread-concurrency" : "6400",
All suggestions appreciated.
[/quote]
You're specifying a lot of stuff you do not need to, the card defaults are best, e.g. worksize. I don't have any 7850s but I'll bet the default is 256.  I'd simplify first. Here's my conf adjusted to your parameters. I think your problem is "gpu-memclock" : "0". If your PC drops to a slower state for one of your cards then cgminer will just leave it there. You need to specify a frequency or it can slow way down.
Code:
{
"scrypt-vert" : true,
"intensity" : "12,13",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"thread-concurrency" : "4096,5120",
"gpu-engine" : "860",
"gpu-memclock" : "1200",
"gpu-fan" : "0-100",
"auto-fan" : true,
"temp-cutoff" : "95",
"temp-overheat" : "88",
"temp-target" : "75",
"temp-hysteresis" : "6",
"hotplug" : "0",
"log" : "5",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}
I use a utility called GPU-Z (http://www.techpowerup.com) that tells me the current clock frequencies and the card's defaults. I start by using the card defaults. TC should be either 4 or 5 times 1024 for a 7850. For lookup-gap and gpu-threads some cards like different combinations, try: 2 & 1, 2 & 2, and 3 & 1. Just wondernig how much the BTC/mhs is on multipool.US anyone got it fully automated and integrated that can give me the average MHS/BTC I just want to compare it to places like Clever & Waffle if you know what I mean.. Thanks guys

PS: Was the main stratum multipool server down earlier?

VTC Developers -- It sure would be nice to have VTC mining support merged into bfgminer so we can keep using MultiMiner. TIA.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: March 27, 2014, 09:49:31 PM
I think is because they are scrypt-n and bfgminer doesn't support that algorithm yet.  I have vtc and spa coins and it never switches to them.  I hope they add support to scrypt-n next update.

This is correct. Currently BFGminer doesn't support Keccak or Scrypt-N or Scrypt-Jane or whatever new / alternative algorithms.

Please, please I'd ask everyone to contact the developers for these coins and ask them to merge support for these algos into BFGMiner. Both Luke and I welcome this and would love to see support for these in BFGMiner.

At some point I may merge them in myself but I'm super busy as-is, and we'd much prefer that the original authors merge in and maintain their code. Again we definitely welcome it in BFGMiner.

I know some users are already contacting the authors - the more the better.

Gladly, I'll contact them and request bfgminer support.
GPU scrypt mining will be dead soon and VTC is the only hope I see to keep them earning  Cry

I saw VerticalCoin on the Add Coins list and added it. But when I right click on it, it goes there for a bit and then switches to a different coin without mining. Also, even when VTC is the most profitable coin on CoinWarz MuM does not mine it. Does anyone know how to get MuM mining VTC Huh
BTW, I configured 3 VTC pools. TIA

I'm going to look for an API tutorial. Is 192.168.0.0/24 always the address to use Huh My miners are 192.168.1.101/114

Nope - if your miners and network are 192.168.1.101 then you want to use 192.168.1.0/24 in the API allow command. That include the W: as well. That will allow any PCs on your local network to control the miner via RPC API.
Thanks, that's what I did but it doesn't seem to be working.
Code:

config cgminer 'default'
        option chip_frequency '282'
        option miner_count '24'
        option api_allow 'W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.1.0/24'
        option more_options '--quiet'
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: March 17, 2014, 08:35:44 PM
I just tried again and it didn't work. I right-clicked an AntMiner S1 in MuM 2.8.1 and chose the 2nd pool. Logged into the pool account and no hashing has appeared in the last 10 minutes. All hashing is still going to pool 1.
Make sure that your configuration for your AntMiner has a W: prefix for api-allow, e.g.:
Code:
option api_allow 'W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.0.0/24'
Otherwise the API access is read-only.

I have my S1 set up this way:
Pool 1 is MultiMiner
Pool 2 is Multipool
Pool 3 is GHash
This way MuM still controls all of the mining, but if it crashes for some reason, it will failover to one of two other good pools.

How do you set up Pool 1 as MultiMiner Huh

I PuTTYed into an S1 and edited /etc/config/cgminer changing:
Code:
option api_allow 'W:127.0.0.1'
to
Code:
option api_allow 'W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.0.0/24'
But it's still not working. Is this the right file that I need to edit Huh

I'm going to look for an API tutorial. Is 192.168.0.0/24 always the address to use Huh My miners are 192.168.1.101/114

Is it possible to get MuM to behave for AntMiner S1 like it does BitFury or BFL Single Huh

No, they are fundamentally different devices. One I have full control over and one I only have API access to.

I tried right-clicking on an AntMiner S1 network device and switching to another coin but it never switches. I tried it with and without restarting. Is there something in the configuration I might be missing Huh

I'm not sure what you mean by another coin - do you mean another pool? The only thing you can do with Network Devices currently is switch them between the pools you have configured in their web UI and restart them. I just tried with my AntMiner S1 and MultiMiner 2.8 and had no problem switching pools (no need to restart, just wait 20-30s or so).

I just tried again and it didn't work. I right-clicked an AntMiner S1 in MuM 2.8.1 and chose the 2nd pool. Logged into the pool account and no hashing has appeared in the last 10 minutes. All hashing is still going to pool 1.

If BitMain loaded bfgminer in its firmware would that give you full control Huh

Actually hit some type of usb limit or something on windows that I didn't hit in linux (ubuntu). I can get 100 devices on ubuntu but only 48 on windows. very strange.

This brings up the question. Will the ubuntu version of multiminer work with gridseed 5 chip devices yet? I guess if bfgminer can be installed then yes but what about the drivers and how would bfgminer be installed if it isn't released yet?
Thanks!

I believe Windows has a 256 USB limit 7 levels deep. Do you have a bunch of USB hubs in series? Try rearranging them more in parallel.

Any chance we might get AntMiner S1 control via bfgminer and MuM Huh

You can already control it (and any other RPC API miner on the network) with MultiMiner. You just need to configure it to allow API access from your IP. From looking through the MultiMiner thread it seems like you already have that working. AFAIK there is also an update for the firmware that makes it work properly with stratum proxies. What features are you looking for that are missing?

I do plan to work on native BFGMiner support for the S1 but I'm not sure that will change much for MultiMiner.

I'm so stupid I searched Bitcoin Forum to find how to get this AFAIK installed  Shocked

I just clicked through all the menu pages in AntMiner S1 LuCi and I can't see how to "configure it to allow API access from your IP."

But, I just realized that I can right-click on a Network device and Switch between its 3 internal pools. It list them as the text following the first dot. Be nice if the whole URL was listed. That's a great time saver, thanks  Grin
