So it only took Byteball two years to listen to its earliest users about a name change. Now they have gone from a ridiculously bad name to a neutral bad name. I agree Obyte sounds and looks kinda empty and void (0byte), something an overpriced marketing agency would suggest, oh maybe they did. I get no positive vibe from it, but at least no negative anymore. My prediction for 2019 is this: Now 0byte can spend its time trying to get back its userbase from early 2017, which was kicked so often into their 0s by this project that everyone left long ago. Tony will continue to make features that noone asked for, although he seems to have slowed down, which is a pity because blockchain tech has evolved and 0byte is lagging behind. See you in a year! See below my old 2018 prediction, I would not have thought that a drop out of the top100 is possible, I remember the days when it approached the top20, but so is crypto. Byteball was the most disappointing crypto of 2017, it failed due to bad management. Its sad to see that this will continue in 2018. I exited my position when I finally realized that this is not a community driven coin at all, but by one person.
The idea behind Byteball was to bootstrap a large community by means of clever distribution. But no community formed because of the way it was/is handled. Tony doesnt realize this at all, that is the worrying part. The community is just a number count for him.
Users cry for a rebrand/unit change? Users propose a new website for free? Users want to help in developing new features? Users ask for new features? Users have critique? Ignore them all, that is Byteball.
Meanwhile he will continue to develop new features that noone asked for, throw them at us and then disappear again to build new features. There will be no dialogue, no information, no roadmap. No money will be spend on rebrands or advertising or anything like that. In a year Byteball will have a zillion features but noone will know about it or care.
There might be new awkward distribution methods, maybe a surprise partnership with a totally unknown small russian business. That might be enough to stay in Top100, but forget about ever reaching IOTA or Raiblocks levels, that is a totally different management league.

Is Eli Taranto not PR manager of Byteball anymore? Did he leave?

When will the source code be released? All I ever hear is "in a few days". But the devs said the same thing after atlantis and it turned out to take nearly a month before it was pushed to mainnet. Can we actually expect it to be "in a few days" or not?
Jesus, why does it matter so much if its out in three days or two weeks? Do you have a rare disease where you will die if you can't see it in time?

It was about how the team communicated to the community touting asic resistance the whole time (which ultimately drew in a lot of supporters and people to buy the coin because of that)
Communication - yes could have been better and earlier. They should take the criticism and improve that on that. But fooling investors? Asic resistance per se is not a goal, only for miners who want to protect their investments. What Asic resistance stands for in the mind of investors is security of the network from attacks by concentrated hash power. As Dero team has said, many Asic resistant networks now have hidden Asics, which is a great danger and fooling investors who think they buy security. Dero team took the hard decision and taking all the blows and beatings now to keep the network secure. They could have gone the more easy, more popular route for short term gains. But they did not and that speaks volumes for their commitment and integrity. They are taking the shots now to protect the network and investors.

These 2 questions may have already been answered so sorry in advance
What happens to the old Dero ? separate block chain ? coins swapped to new coins ?
Is this still a Cryptonote based algorithm for GPU mining or ?
1. Old chain will be converted to new DAG, you do not have to do anything 2. No info about GPU mining algo released

Hello devs, I am having problems with this mesage in daemon ...
You posted more or less the same message twice; don't do that. Also, make sure you read the last couple pages of a thread to see if your issue has been discussed already (hint: it has). The above sequence of commands are a bunch of crap and won't work. Almost nothing really works for this issue, actually, and the one "solution" - temporary at best - is a pain: Right click on the clock. Select "adjust date/time". Click on the radio button for "set time automatically" to turn it off. Click on the "change" button to change the date/time Now adjust the time up or down by 1 minute - it doesn't matter - and save changes Click on the radio button for "set time automatically" again to turn it back on. This is undoubtedly way less efficient than a theoretically ideal solution but it worked for me. I installed an external NTP service to fix this (NTP for Windows)

Captain: Will be releasing Atlantis testnet in less than 48 hrs. We plan to use snapshot of existing mainnet chain for tests, confirmations and verifications. Tests would be running for week and users can evaluate everything before moving to mainnet. Users can create wallets from existing seeds or create new wallets and test everything their own. Pls report any bugs/crashes/etc. during the tests. More details will follow before 48 hrs. Great news!!

Looks very good, will be livenet in a week?

Sooo confused, This is pump or all buy dero because cannot mining ?
Dero Atlantis is making good progress (have heard nothing, correct me if wrong). Dero Atlantis features would put it infront of some top10 coins technically and use case wise
|
|
|
After Atlantis, will Dero seek out to big companies for partnership?
|
|
|
Will there be articles on big cryptosites once Dero Atlantis is put? The word needs to be spread

DERO May Monthly update: https://forum.dero.io/t/dero-monthly-update/446/3Summary Atlantis Update:Following blockchain technologies has been implemented in Atlantis: DERO-DAG(Directed Acyclic Graph): DERO Atlantis will be DERO-DAG based. DERO-DAG is mineable, POW based, fully linear with same level of security as blockchain. No orphans, scalability limits defined by resources(Compute, Network, Storage etc.) Client Protocol: It handles same transactions mined by two different miners in different blocks mostly due to luck/Network lag. Bulletproofs: Smaller transaction sizes for CryptoNote Protocol. Ultra Compact Blocks: Faster block propagation times and low network usage. Core progress on track. Explorer, wallets too are being re-written to handle Atlantis. In another 15 days Atlantis will be released for alpha-tests and Hopefully before next monthly update we would be on Atlantis. Rd. Captain D That is extremly impressive! This project will turn a lot of heads

Honestly, this thread has been bumming me out, I’ve been a staunch supporter of Dero for months now and used to love the community’s helpful, synergistic vibe. I used to visit this thread and the Dero forum multiple times a day, but find myself coming less and less. The holier-than-thou approach of the team to an outpouring of disappointment from their early supporters and the toxicity that breeds has killed what I used to love coming to this community for.
What? The team is nice and friendly as ever, hop into the Slack, you see a nice and comfy atmosphere

However, the Dero team decided to hand the network over to asics without hesitation, centralizing the network with no solid explanation. ... Cryptonote is special because it is private, and asic resistant which helps make the network egalitarian. ... It's impressive rewriting code and creating your own blockchain and the code is solid. Serena is an amazing community manager as well, maybe the best I have seen.
1. Not true, ASICs came by themselves to all CN coins. 2. Not true, CN is not ASIC resistant as we all have seen 3. True, it is an awesome project with a great future

I like the simple Cli wallet, gives me a feel of being more in control. I will take that over the new Monero GUI anyday.
