If you expect to get an honest answer to that your question then I'm afraid that's impossible. Every one else will be trying to market their tokens to you or their ICO to you, so you should be quite careful in choosing, moreover, what is best for them may not be right for you. So it is your duty to take your time out and  research about any ICO you intend to join or been recommended for.
Know what the ICO has to offer, by going through their white paper, there you will find your answer.

Just pick on the top 10 crypto based on coinmarketcap. Choose at a minimum of three (3) crypto. Ethereum is great but there are two things that give something value: utility and scarcity. Ethereum does not have a maximum supply and the utility that Ethereum garners is from smart contracts but there is a lot of competition concerning smart contracts, you have Neo, Stellar, Waves, Stratis and of course EOS. The arguement could be raised that Ethereum could have private smart contracts but the implementation of zero knowledge proofs or other privacy protocols will cost a fortune in fees.

Just like Ethereum, Ripple is great too but the issue with it is centralization. Blockchain is supposed to be decentralized yet the majority of coins are in the hands of a single company.

Litecoin is the best due to the scarcity of coins, I believe 84 million max. And Charlie Lee really is striving to make Litecoin one of the most valuable cryptos simply through usability/utility. Litepay is rolling out which will allow for widespread adoption of the crypto and they the "big" surprise for 2018.

I would say it is electroneum. The excitement around this project was huge, but then there was a significant time delay between releasing the coin and making mobile mining possible. I think for now the price is low, because not many people are mining or the whole process is too slow. But perhaps the team will find a way to eliminate such issues and will be able to get full credit for their work. It is currently below the ico price! I am sure it can get at least there!

But the good thing about this time is that it is the best time to invest more and more in crytocurrency because when it begin to bloom you can be able to count your blessing.
