1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Investing in SIAcoin? What YOU NEED to KNOW + Antminer A3 / Obelisk Tech SC1 on: January 20, 2018, 04:06:41 PM
Man that reddit page is full of anger. It's like watching Segwit vs Big Blocks all over again. Is it weird that I agree with both sides lol.

Vosk, I really envy you. That Tails is too damn cute, every time I see her I get mushy Cheesy I hope she's doing better.

"6 months away! Do you know how long that is? That's 1/2 a year. You probably knew that." <-- I fell off my chair laughing  Grin

Haha yeah exactly itís honestly crazy to see how much bitmain has shaken up their community by simply releasing a miner.

xD Tails is the best, she was a driving force of me into crypto so I could not work 10 hour night shifts and miss half her life + most days Iím the only caretaker and unfortunately leaves her bored alone or crated when I had to work. The recent crazy events in our lives shook everything up and now I am fortunate to be able to provide her a better life just need to get past this health issue.. appreciate the support though. The community has been so awesome through all of this.

Hahahaha thatís great Cheesy after I said that I thought .. I hope people think thatís funny or theyíll be like what an idiot lol

nice video ...
I wish there will be no debate ... do synergy or consensus better
Thank you, and yeah me too... will be exciting to watch!

Here are my thoughts on the recent SIAcoin / antminer a3 / obelisk tech sc1 development if anyones interested

Is Siacoin cryptocurrency a good investment after the recent drama that has transpired out of the recent release of the Bitmain Antminer A3, Obelisk Tech SC1, DragonMint B52 Blake2b Mine, and Baikalminer Giant B? SIA made a move to "secure" their blockchain by launching an additional company www.Obelisk.Tech which has their development team developing their own ASIC miner hardware the Obelisk SC1.

A ton of Antminer A3 threads lol but here's my 2c on the subject I think it's really relevant to well . .everyone who bought one because some of the SIA devs are potentially conspiring to fork antminer a3's off their blockchain

Before you buy the A3, Halong Mining / DragonMint are now coming out with their own Blake(2b) ASIC.

No price nor date yet, BUT 3.5TH  THAT'S ~4.5X BITMAIN'S A3 and Obelisk's SC1 !!!!!!

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b52-blake2b-miner

Sad to say, but Blake(2b) is now screwed....it's gonna be much worse than X11...at least that has several coins to spread the X11 hashing across, whereas afaik Blake(2b) is only Sia

this is my first setup and im kind of clue less about what to do after ive connectected everything can you please advise?
you just download drivers / miner and sync it up! I have some videos on using smOS but not windows setup really other than nicehash

Hey guys just put together my cleanest mining rig to date, focused much more on the wire management with this 6 card build than my last. I decided to make the video into a general how-to since I was going to talk about the hardware so much anyway

Here's my take on how to build your own DIY GPU ZCash Equihash Mining Rig

Bitmain = future 'Cyberdyne Systems'?   Grin

While I think this is a good joke, it is also a horrifying thought if it ends up being real.

Those numbers are likely right but the reality is that they don't account for the difficulty spike... for a few days initially you will likely make huge profits until more Asics come online... There is a very good chance the first owners will cover the cost of their A3's in the first 30 days but after that, it's not likely.

If SIA decides to softfork the network to invalidate the Bitmain ASIC, that is also going to create some issues.

It's all a gamble right now.

Me, I'm waiting on my Obelisk(s) and will support that venture at this time.

From the looks of it this ASIC hunt is like an arms race Smiley Whoever gets it first wins.

Although, aren't the guys who develop these make huge profits first and just start to sell them only after that to everybody?

From a pure profit standpoint, you're absolutely right.

Me I support SIA first, profits from SIA second. It's for this reason and some others I'm choosing not the buy the A3 at this time.

The thing is, you can still go to Obelisk site and pre-order the Blake2b miners from their second batch until the end of the month.  I was considering it, but did not like the wait.  This was sort of an introduction to me showing how Bitcointalk works,,,, when this Obelisk miner came out, no one was talking about it here (trying to keep it quiet I suppose, lol).  I couldn't even find a thread about it here at Bitcointalk.  It looks like many experienced miners loaded up on the Obelisk offer and now will be left holding the bag.  I am sure the Obelisk miner will still ROI, but not nearly as fast.  My lesson is, if you are being offered a coin specific ASIC miner, then the offer is worthless unless you receive miner right away.   This 3-7month pre-order BS does not work when you have cash hungry capable competition

You must have missed this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976753.0

Yes I did. Thx.  Sort of feel sorry for all of their early investors/buyers.  Just a tad.  Obelisk had to have known that they were not working in a vacuum.  Competition is going to come.  This is an interesting development and just a prelude of what is to come,,,, because,,,,  in short time (2-3 years) EVERY major coin will have ASICs developed.  GPU mining will always be possible for multiple shitcoins, but ASICs will dominate.
Until AI, which will likely be the ASIC's replacement tech. Which coincidentally, Bitmain is ALREADY working on. (Sophon?) Probably the real reason for their move towards Sia. Cloud storage seems to be a critical element of AI development. This stuff is all way over my head, but I can see a pattern developing here.
you're a smart man! bitmain will rule the world here shortly, and its all our faults O_o

What if coins choose to change their algo so that the newly developed ASICs are then worthless?

//This whole situation will be interesting to watch unfold. . for better and worse I'll be in it as I took the gamble and bought an A3. SIA could really shoot themselves in the foot here depending on how they navigate this.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Autominer.at 13 gpu review on: January 19, 2018, 12:03:38 AM
Thank you very much for that first review! Also a little insider tip: If you leave the case closed while its running, the cards in the middle run a bit cooler and the whole unit is slighly more efficient due to the reversed 2x 200mm fans sucking the air out to the front.

Yes temps dropped a little that way.

So far I have it stable.  doing zcash only on nicehash.

I put my btc addy in the NH software you preloaded.

I made sure the cards mine not the cpu
I gave only zcash option .

Biggest suggestion is to place 2 pieces of foam inside case to hold the gpus during transit.

I will pull the celeron and put in an i5  because I like windows to have a better cpu.

If I program it to use smos  I can back off the ram to 4gb and the cpu to celeron
so it came preloaded with the 3930?

This is very cool, always great to see more offerings like this in the space -- a plug and play one click miner could bring a lot of new users to mining which imo is good (more miners = more hodlers?) it's not always all bad xD

Interested to see some of your updates on this as I know you're extremely thorough!
