Anyone try this coin out with the new nvidia cards?
Interested in this ^

Also is who's still mining this / with what / whats your profitability looking like?

Was pretty difficult to trade out of BTM as a US citizen

Good post bro.... loose the music  Tongue

thanks man Cheesy

All together or you think it was too loud?

A lot of research I've read stated that music promotes increased watch time -> and thats the main metric YT uses to rank / suggest your video to more viewers
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: October 04, 2018, 02:51:22 PM
What do you guys think about the new SIA coin fork to brick ASICs? But as I see, it's only anti Bitmain and Innosillicon. Their Obelisks ASICs will work after the fork: https://blog.sia.tech/sia-proof-of-work-reset-24b5ec439625

this is my research / opinion on the situation

https://youtu.be/kcAXIHQxYWQ

I'm really interested to see how David Vorick would respond in an interview regarding all of this -- pretty radical views / decisions compared to the most of the market lol

I thought Jihan Wu's tweet was pretty funny too regarding the matter

They took too much time to do that, although is a nice thing they did but i'm afraid is too late, the damage is already done and to recover from that, will be years.

How is it a nice thing. They simply said everybody to f*** off so their ASICs can work at all. Just a money move nothing else. They centralize the network under their control. I don't get it how this is a good think. They are hypocrits, the biggest possible.

But who cares about Siacoin anyway. Its a shitcoin.

I do know of a particular popular person outside of Siacoin who cares about this decision

Good ole Jihan Wu

Why is Bitmain A3 even being discussed? Its pitiful compared to Innosillicon Siamaster.

And the biggest issue is that Innosillicon owns almost 50% of hash-rate for Sia. Yes, Innosillicon self-mining themselves, not the Siamaster's they sold to others.

maybe they are uh . . big SIA supporters? Huh lol

yes its just like this except instead of making hundreds to thousands to millions

you will make cents to dollars lol Huh
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Breaks Millions of Dollars of Cryptocurrency ASIC Miners | SIA Hard Fork on: October 04, 2018, 02:44:33 PM
Its barely a blow to bitmain, the monero fork was a way bigger blow , bitmain already killed the sia network and farmed the hell out of sia at lower diffs.

Misslrading topic imo , it affects inno way more than bitmain since thier sia hash is far larger.

you should rename it to biggest blow dealt to innosilcon lol.

Bitmains blow is comming soon with progpow on eth

Bitmain is a much more recognizable name compared to innosilicon, Bitmain was also first to market starting this whole debacle. That's why I chose to use Bitmain over inno etc

also most people will get a kick out of jihan wu's latest tweet

I'm making 0.001BTC a day from 1 Rig alone ! (66 watts total power - Cost of 0.000057 BTC)

If anything, i'd really be interested in talking to someone who is still earning from mining today (without owning a large mining farm with ultra cheap electricity).

Hi there.
Been there, done that.
Problem with BTCC is that its full of desperate sheep, so every sniff of any profit, and bang 1000 people start mining it, and if that's BTC or ETH, etc, then that's ok, but I mine coins where in entire nethash is 10mhs on scrypt (just an example) and there are probably only 10-20 of us worldwide mining it, so guess what, it leaks, the idiots take over, the diff goes up 10,000 fold, the price drops to 0.00000001 / doge or worse, then they all go to the next "best thing", leaving the coins screwed...so, like I have said several times in various threads, take your time, do loads of research, hope for a lot of luck, and maybe you'll find a good en. To put it in to context, I have over 2100 wallets (separate coins) over the last 2 years, and most are dead, some have been incredibly valuable (1 offs only) and some just kick in a small amount each day....also, work smart, not hard...I replaced 6 x 750ti the other day with 1 moonlander2, makes no more money, but about 1/10th the power cost....as I type i', mining 3 coins on 1 rig (4core cpu / 2x1030gt gpu)
As for VOSK, was actually a little dig...he's clearly struggling to cover his costs, I PM'd him a possibility and not even an acknowledgement...but that's life...

What i really need, is someone who can give me access to an AMD EPYC or Threadripper 2990W with windows on, for a week...that could be interesting...failing that, time to learn all about FPGAs, i think they're the future for all miners...
J
oh yeah, erm UK, and 18p kw/h, so you >10cent guys have NO excuses... Smiley

Not like I'm some super important popular dude but I get PMs about shitcoins daily

I don't like your comment

"As for VOSK, was actually a little dig...he's clearly struggling to cover his costs, I PM'd him a possibility and not even an acknowledgement..."

you messaged me in standard look at this coin I've been stockpiling for awhile - you should check it out now fashion.

If your interests were genuine you wouldn't be throwing a dig @ me, your message also lost credibility when it you messaged the same thing copy and paste the second time.

Huh

Wow, looks like someone's ego has got the better of them

I don't normally PM anyone, unless i think they have great integrity and that i can either help them or need a little advice from them.
Re-reading the PM i sent you. there is a lot of good info there, a lot of work from me, and some tips...not sure what more i could have offered you really...
"u can take a horse to water, but can't make it drink" springs to mind....

Like i said, it was a "little dig" for not even bothering to acknowledge me, NO its not a coin i have been stockpiling ( I have about 400 coins i think), i dont even have the gear to mine it currently, and i was trying to help YOU out.  Sorry u get so many PM's and are jaded by them, i also know that feeling, i get 50-100 dodgy PMs a week too.

I did try to reach out to you via youtube...but no joy, so I re-sent out, out of courtesy in case u didnt get it, so dont think i've lost any credibilty here, specially since i nearly make with 1 rig what u make with 50 gpus.... i was trying to help...you were the one who put up the "I Am Unplugging My Bitcoin Miners & You Should Too | ASIC Mining Is Dying" and  "50 GPU Mining Farm Earns Less Than $10 A Day vid" anyway, as one of your utube supporters and fellow miners, if you want any help, the door is always open...and always will be

That said, its responses like this that put me off helping others...
J

My response had no ego, you were disrespectful -- period. However I'm not looking to drag this out into some sort of internet argument.

I don't have a problem with you or anything and I appreciate anyone taking the time to help me increase my mining profitability.

Comming from the guys who were all PRO asics. I could not care less. For me projects like that don't exist.

It was an interesting read for about the first 6-7 paragraphs, just to see what their thought process was, but it quickly devolved into a shitload of fluff that tried to put lipstick on a pig.  A few of my favorite quotes:

"In parallel and in secret, two larger manufacturers also began development of ASICs for Sia. The first one, Bitmain, did not announce their product until 10 days before shipping, effectively disrupting a multi-million dollar project from the community without warning and nearly causing a civil war."

"And indeed, Innosilicon is Sia’s largest miner, mining a stable 37.5% of the Sia hashrate."   (meaning 62.5% of the hashrate is coming from other companies!)

"For the Sia network, an important line was crossed when secret ASIC projects superseded a public project that had substantial community investment. Though the Obelisk project got a few things wrong, largely Obelisk went about ASIC development and manufacturing in the right way."

"Sia is forking today to reprimand the current ASIC monopoly for the damage it did to the Sia community, to make whole the supporters of Sia’s community ASIC project, and to send a clear message to all future Sia ASIC manufacturers: we will not tolerate an abusive ASIC monopoly."

"In the short term, this is a step backwards for Sia’s security. The hashrate will decrease substantially, which means our security margin against an attacker will be lower. In the long term, this sets the stage for a healthy mining community and a higher overall difficulty. We fully expect that the 28nm Obelisk ASICs will be replaced by a 16nm chip from another manufacturer, who will become the new manufacturing monopoly for Sia."

lol this quote, definitely comment of the week
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's to mine ZCASH with? on: October 01, 2018, 02:11:34 PM
possible to mine whit an 7990radeon 6gb ??

Basically ever since ZEC was released in November of 2016, most Tahitis like your 7990 went and mined it. The Tahiti's due to the DAG thrashing bug were performing poorly with ETH so most of them did the switch to ZEC. Same with the Pitcairn GPUs like the R9 270X.

Now however most Tahiti's moved onto Cryptonight-V7 and are mining XMR. Since the XMR algo is not very intensive most do a max undervolt to like 0.95V and run at 950/1500 (core/memory) and hash at 500-600h/s (depending on memory type) and it only uses around 125 watts or so. Basically like an RX 470 mining ETH.

Not much profit these days but if you want to put them to work, you can try that algo. I think next month it forks again, so the first week or 2 might be even more profitable as the difficulties adjust.

this is excellent advice, for anyone still holding these older GPUs and has a decent electric rate only makes sense to run them into the ground (at least I think)

I don't see much of a market for cards older than rx470

270x buy it now $50

437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I Am Unplugging My Bitcoin Cash Miners & You Should Too | ASIC Mining Is Dying on: October 01, 2018, 02:06:53 PM

power cost at 9 cents is about   $ 3.07    a  49 cent profit
power cost at 8 cents is about   $ 2.73    a  83 cent profit
power cost at 7 cents is about   $ 2.39    a  $1.17 profit
power cost at 6 cents is about   $ 2.04    a  $1.52 profit
power cost at 5 cents is about   $ 1.70    a  $1.86 profit
power cost at 4 cents is about   $ 1.36    a  $2.20 profit
power cost at 3 cents is about   $ 1.02    a  $2.54 profit

Same thing can be said about alt coins mining. Imagine those retail miners like me which only have access to power cost of about >10 cents. The coins earned from mining just barely cover the cost of electricity, let alone the cost of the mining rigs. Mining just doesn't make cents anymore unless you are industrial miner with access to really cheap electricity near the source, like what the China mining companies do.

2 years ago, the most common argument we heard about the main advantage of mining (a.k.a solving cryptographic quizes) is its more decentralized and can prevent 51% attack. Not sure if thats the case now. Mining seems like a power play of the few giants. I really wonder what will happen for mining in the future when only a few have the controlling resource (i.e. hash power) in the entire network.

It seems to me, staking (or variation of staking) is the way to move forward.

I do agree mining is becoming incredibly less decentralized as every month passes. Also as stated 51% attacks have not been stopped by PoW because too many projects piggy back on others Algo's / enablers like nicehash / just simply giant mining farms that may have malicious plans. It is a frustrating time to see PoW under assault on so many fronts.

440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cryptocurrency Mining Dying? GPU vs ASIC | VoskCoin Crypto Farm | August 2018 on: September 28, 2018, 04:08:09 PM
If mining is dying than pow coins are dying also. right?

So no, mining is not dead, not at all.
Mining is not dying at all, quite the contrary! It's getting bigger and bigger, however, the competition's growth is indeed unprecedented!

Traditional mining may as well die off at one point, due to cloud mining providers which are much more convenient and affordable.

1. Electricity bills;
2. Constant monitoring of hardware equipment;
3. Cool environment;
4. Low profitability;
5. High competition;
6. A lot of initial investments

These are just one of the inconvenient parts that every traditional miner must have in mind!

Another 'bad' information about all miners, is that BTC supply descended down to less than 20 million! You can read an article about it HERE. The article states that in the next 3 years the mining reward will be lowered by half!

So now it's time to think about mineable altcoins which are plenty!

However, which cloud mining service provider to choose, as people are speculating that huge bulk of them are scammers!

Here is a great tip! Check their rates, DO YOUR MATH, and find out if the contract you sign you actually pay off.

For example, at MyHashing, our mining data centers are located in Georgia, which is tagged as one of the cheapest places electricity-wise, and its hardware-friendly climate contributes to their performance.

Our rates will also guarantee that the hashpower provided will be sustainable 24/7.

So please remind us once again, why would you turn to something outdated and imperfect, when cloud mining offers hell of a benefits!~

MyHashing will be a unique platform, offering its users LEGITIMACY and AUTHENTICITY which are our main virtues.

Our website will soon be deployed, and our rates published!

In the meantime, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Bitcointalk ANN.[/size]
