501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: August 29, 2018, 04:47:20 PM

Anyone see the news / rumors for the antminer d3 that was converted to mine WTC? Wild stuff

Would have been great if you could share the link to the source. Don't know if it's my internet proxies or something but i can't find any news on google.

That being said, it would be interesting to find an alternative purpose to our D3s. Currently all my antminer D3s are already shutdown, collecting dust, or are on sale for very much less the original price i bought it for. Bitmain really screwed us over with this D3.

EDIT: Saw a hint to D3-WTC mining through this link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/waltonchain/comments/7y78om/will_antminers_work_for_wtc_mining/

The rumor is that it will be a modified X11 algo..... that would mean a stock D3 wont work..... until someone works on perhaps a firmware upgrade for the D3s.

citronick. . pretty off topic but I'm finally watching fairy tail and I now know that your avatar is awesome haha Cheesy

Are you still plugging away w/ your farm, have you hedged and sold off gear, and what have you done with your ETH holdings -- if I remember you were a pretty big holder of ETH

Also do people think WTC is more scammy or less scammy than before?
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners Create The High Value Of Cryptocurrency - Mining Farm Update on: August 29, 2018, 04:44:38 PM
thanks, what there ever any eth pill or something for amd cards?
being watching ohgodagirl interview on youtube and she hinted on something, you should do an interview with her!
there's the recent mainstream release of the aggressive undervolt which will save some on power consumption for ethash mining
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I Am Unplugging My Bitcoin Cash Miners & You Should Too | ASIC Mining Is Dying on: August 29, 2018, 04:43:13 PM
Seems there are many who believe in the technology and are just mining at a loss just to get some BTC.

You say mining at loss? only idiots do that cause it was explained countless of times that doing that you are at double loss, anyway, i do believe there are idiots out there but not as many as you trolls think, 70% of total eth hashrate are asics and asics never mine at loss where gpus is not totally negative at 0.10 per kw, whereas gpus give $0.15 per 30 mhs on eth, asics like the f3, given the same $0.15 to asics + another $0.20 the electricity they save  then we can come up with $0.35 per 30 mhs, so each 1.5 ghs f3 give around 20 usd, without any hard work whatsoever, to carry on till market recovers.  The only ones still earning money here are asic manufactures, whereas gpu miners get $0.15 per gpu, asics miners like bitman f3 are earning 20 usd per asic, not bad if you ask me and like i said before this crash is due to that, bitmain was earning 100 usd per eth asic, not to mention the other asics which were making much more money, asics destroyed everything again, if there were no asics then eth right now would be around 3k usd minimum.

No you fail to see long term mining  ie year after year after year has completely different tax laws  then buy and hold.

You have lots of good info  but sometime you don't know what you are talkng about.

I will mine at a loss for August and Sept.  At that point I will start more reduction of mining.

I already know  what I am willing to lose from August to December this year.  About 1k So far I lost 300 in August.

The 1k simply  will reduce my early year profits and reduce my tax bill.

While buying 4k in coins does zero to help tax bills and tax planing.

This is USA law I know many places have different laws.
But for me to mine and hold the coins  say spend 4k  on power to earn 3k in coins

Gives me  more tax benefits then to buy 4k in coins and hold them.

Mining and holding  the 4k allows me a 4k power cost for taxes this year.

Since taxes are 33%  4 k power cost saves me  1333  which makes up for the 1k lost   4k power- 3 k coins - 1 k loss

the  cost basis for the 3k in coins  will be zero when I sell    So I gain 333 this year    and when I sell in later years I will pay more tax.

buying 4k  and holding does zero.  this year.  when I sell  cost basis is 4k

Buying and holding the 4k spent  allows me no  power cost for taxes this year.  So I gain zero this year and when I sell in later year I will pay less tax.

This is a big reason for mining at a loss and you leave it out.

So don't.

This gives me a possible  1 to 2 years of loss without issues  for tax benefits  to be taken now.

Phil I think you are focusing on a very important point that I left out for the sake of a shorter video. Electric write off and the way those expenses play into taxes.

Does anyone work with any tax professionals that tote themselves as experts with cryptocurrency. Id love to see them weigh in

I've re-read Phil's post about 5 times and it honestly doesn't make much sense (literally and financially).  Yes, spending on electricity will lower your tax liability on what you mined.  But only to the tune of 33% (or insert your tax rate here).  Maybe I have a different definition of mining at a loss, but I define it as spending more on mining than what you are earning, I.E. The money you spent could have instead been spent on buying the coins outright with the results of more coins.  Or in other terms, instead of pumping $10 in the claw machine to win the stuffed animal, you could have bought 2 stuffed animals for $10.  If you are mining, then you pay taxes on everything you mine.  But if you mine and hold, and the currency goes up, then you are still paying capital gains taxes, no different than buying it outright.
A big issue with this (which is a whole other debacle) is that the tax situation is flawed which I won't completely open that can of worms right now . . AND ALSO the new 25% tariffs are insane, like the recent scammy 20k asic miner co zeon would carry a tariff of $5000 . . Hurting the case for mining even further Huh
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I Am Unplugging My Bitcoin Cash Miners & You Should Too | ASIC Mining Is Dying on: August 29, 2018, 04:40:22 PM
Why does no one talk about the rate of ADOPTION...as in the actual USE OF BTC as a currency...
Well because it is a JOKE..total failure.
The rate of adoption is pathetic BECAUSE no one will buy or use it while it is so vulnerable to exchange speculators and MEGA FARMS who enjoy the cheap production and monopoly over it.
mega farms of cheap electricity have indeed KILLED BTC mining....and destroyed any chance of wide spread adoption.
Equally guilty are the parasitic exchanges and whale speculators.

I will NEVER pay for BTC or use it or accept it.
I'll mine the shit out of my tiny farm and sell most IMMEDIATELY and never upgrade or reinvest in gear again.

BTC died LONG AGO...People just don't understand that they are just profiting off it's funeral.
It NEVER had a chance...the rich banking power elite was NEVER going to tolerate loosing it's grasp on the power to CREATE MONEY.
They got caught napping but greed ensured BTC would be delivered right into their arms. And here we are.
Bitcoin core is OWNED by AXA insurance of Zurich...the chairman is a Bilderberg

Bro you need to get real. Did you think the future was we all gonna GPU mine with gaming cards making $15 dollar a day per  card and and all gonna drive off to the sunset in lambos.

Btc is so high in value and growth potential, it's foolish to use for daily currency. Only meant for big purchase. Your better bet is to use bitcoin cash for everyday currency, since the future is not as secured as Bitcoin best to use bitcoin cash

Anyways you sound like your a fiat hodler and I hope you Enjoy those gains.

Sounds like he just simply hates crypto lol, I'd like to see some citations personally Cheesy

Let's see what the consensus will be on the 31st.

What do you think should be done regarding the current ETH issues being debated?

Yeah  arm_race helped with first algo  a few days back
and we talked on cell phone to do the bitstream flash for second algo

today I was a big boy and loaded the newest bitstream flash all by myself and it is now working fairly well.

I will run it over night.

good job get it running! Roll Eyes yes this Maxcoin is Keccak, the other CREA tested earlier is KeccakC, theoretically all coins based on the two variants can be supported by the host SW.

I loaded a new bitstream for keccka

it is up and running on this site

https://www.nlpool.nl/?address=mGnqrkX4tgKQtRVs6eQVWEPbUo5KFnE9EY

It gets easier to add a bitstream as I get used to doing them.

507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $200 Daily | 200k Sols | Centralized? - AsicMiner.Co Zeon Equihash Miner Review on: August 29, 2018, 03:57:02 PM
This company is a dumpster fire, I had ordered Nano and after exhausting all their excuses of delays for over a month I began legal action to eventually receive a refund..I guess that counts for something, regardless of miner profits as a company I would never go back to them. I guess this being their way to show they actually ship miners by sending you one to get community sentiment play, appreciate what you're doing but personal experience and I cannot be the only one

Could you elaborate more on this? What i've thought is really weird, is that they sent me these two miners to review but they are already sold to other buyers . . so what odd arrangement do they have, they have also changed the next intended recipient once already . . which is also odd

Yeah I am definitely concerned on the same note as you, I am not naive enough to think well they sent me one so they will fulfill 100% orders + must be great -- I tried to make that disclaimer in both videos but I'm sure someone will still try to blame me for something lol

My order was supposed to ship in May I was in contact with a Jason & Alex on their end and for a few weeks they claimed issue was their local courrier, the order never shipped. Come June first week Alex said if it doesn't ship they refund and so we agreed. Several weeks into June they began ignoring emails and then Jason got involved and said  delays are due to "unrecoverable defect" ignored earlier emailed statements from from Alex so no refund. I took it further and pushed some more then they offered me a partial refund, I pressed with legal action and a full refund was issued, basically two month delay and a heck of a fight for my money on their 48th miners.

What a headache, sorry man, glad you ultimately got your money back at least.

Speaking of issues, my Asic Miner Co Zeon has gone down (yesterday) and I cannot get it to hash anymore. .

It will turn on, pull full power draw, register on their dashboard, but it does not hash poolside. .
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How She ROId Her Mining Rig in 8 Weeks in a Bear Market on: August 28, 2018, 01:18:20 PM
Step 1: buy an ASIC
Step 2: plug it in
Step 3: walk away
Step 4: 8  weeks later = ROI Cheesy

Such skill, much wow Cheesy

haha im just razing, good job Mrs.Vosk!

Haha well you did really sum up the life of an ASIC miner, shes my baseline for someone that mines a bit but it doesnt consume their lives.... like us xD

Ill pass this along to her Cheesy
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How She ROId Her Mining Rig in 8 Weeks in a Bear Market on: August 28, 2018, 01:17:01 PM
I saw a return of capital investment several weeks ago by luck.  Paid for a unit with LTC when it was over 160USD a coin; about 11.5LTC all in.  LTC dropped like a rock to 60USD while waiting for the pre-order.  I figure the best way to judge a return on capital is to auto-exchange the output for the coin spent.  The one little Mini has been averaging .25LTC a day on MiningPoolHub using 330watts (OCed to 15,500 sol/s).  Has generated about 18LTC to date.  I'm still short as of USD but I'd be hurting anyway if I just held (HEDL?) the LTC.  Now I have a profit, coin-for-coin.

.25LTC a day on 330watts?  Eat your heart out, L3++.  Almost like buying Biakal Minis before the Dash price explosion of early 2017.

Yeah I hear ya, was semi frustrating last year Id be buying hardware and I always had more USD, but I was holding less and less coins! lol

Now this year with an opposite market.. we are getting the reverse, more coins and less USD

In the long game, seems more appealing to me

Those miners were awesome @ that time lol, my baikalminer mini was definitely one of my favorite miners.. was also my first ASIC so maybe I have a soft spot for it xD

Equihash mining has been rapidly changing in 2018, as the hashrate continued to rise many speculated that ASIC miners were coming soon. The Bitmain Antminer Z9 Mini is the first of several recently released equihash miners. Bitmain has unveiled their full size Z9 asic miner that hashes over 40,000 sols and Innosilicon has a more powerful & efficient model hashing at 50,000 sols and using half of the wattage. There are several cryptocurrencies that you can still mine using the original equihash mining algorithm, such as ZCash being the largest, followed by ZenCash which has now rebranded to Horizen, followed by ZClassic, and finally Komodo.

2 went online on 2nd of July
1 on 18th of July
an another 1 on 20th of August

What was the first price and MOQ back then in June?

The first price was $10,000 USD for 1 and MOQ was 1 unit. Quickly after, coupon came to get another for $2,500. I had to pay massive 30% customs fees for those first as well.

I have had all 5 online before August. Started June 22.

How are you almost break even already?

ah that must have been killer (the fees)
Inno continually sucks with their ridiculous initial prices -- they had a good deal until ZEC announced they are too lazy to fork ($5000 buy one get one)

She gives her 2c on the Z9 mini vs the Z9 vs the Inno A9 and how she made her crypto investment back on the z9 mini already

ETH could indeed use a fork to revive it's value. There simply is too much going on without much response to the ETH dev team and frankly people are getting tired of waiting for their promises that seem to keep getting moved. 2017 was supposed to be the time for the promised POS algo change and soon 2018 will be over. Will they blow through 2019 without any significant changes as well?

There are plenty of cryptocurrency projects to support, with ETH continuing down this road isolating what I would consider their founding support base . . many will continue to move to other projects

Ultimately I think most are left with the feeling of . . why even bother sticking around -- abandoned their miners and the coin is plummeting, I don't hold much ETH anymore and it was my largest holding at one point
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Fork | Mining Algorithm Change? | Bitmain Overvalued | GPU vs ASIC on: August 27, 2018, 03:40:32 PM
eth devs are stinking rich now and don`t really care anymore. look how buterin turned from visionary genius to second-grade philosopher.
I do feel that all these devs are so out of touch with the people that support their network at the base level . . the miners which also turn into promoters, future devs, and everything else

If they  made a bigger dag  and  played around a bit with some other specs it could be only the 1080ti 2080ti and Vega 64 work  along with newer gpus coming out as for pos:

POS = piece of shit

Basically POS is putting money in the bank and getting some interest on it.

Why on earth  should I risk have 100 or 1000 eth coins  sitting  to get interest.

Remember   since the leader controls the coin  he can change rules pretty easy and my 1000 coins getting 1% a month  could be at his mercy. Since coin value can tank at any minute.

I rather have  100,000 usd in a cd getting 2 % a year if I want interest.

The bigger DAG solution is new for me, sure it will hit 95%+ of miners, but people will go mad then.

that would invalidate 80% or so of my current GPU farm, but honestly I would be interesting in seeing it. Seems part of the effective route to being "asic resistant" used to love that term, now it feels like talking about an ex lol

There has been a ton of debate regarding Ethereum, their mining algorithm, and how they can remain relevant. With the massive price drop in ETH recently, perhaps the Ethereum developers will be more interested in listening to the people that actually minted the coins they cherish? Hudson has been leading the push to discuss and solve this issue, their Ethereum github is the best source / place to voice your opinion.

Remember all those new users who joined last year and we told them to hold off on mining and instead buy coins if they wanted to take risks - well failure to head that advice now I see a lot of posts of new users cursing at crypto.

I know the crypto world is 10x as fast as the fiat world as far as growth and volatility, but what sensible person thought ETH would sustain $5k and BTC would hit $100k so that rigs could pay themselves off in a month. It's almost as bad as the housing bubble.

Sit still, remain calm, turn off the miner (if you're paying over 10 cents/KWH), and see where we are in 6 months. There will be no arise chikun moon rockets under the Christmas tree this year (my opinion anyway). Hopefully 2019 more reasonable ICOs and possibly ETH POS (with corresponding price increase) will make this endeavor worthwhile.

Eth devs looking at pushing back PoS 1-3 more years O_o

Im just here for the Christmas moon rockets

Its funny if you advise users to just buy, as a miner yourself theyll say you are just saying that so that you can keep all of the mining profits to yourself!!
