1  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 12, 2023, 11:48:58 AM
Money cannot buy happiness but it can buy us comfort and luxurious things which can give us happiness temporarily. I think happiness that comes from acquiring things is not sustainable and can be lost when you lose those things, in my opinion true long lasting happiness comes from within.
I agree with most of the list, time with family and friends is a better way to spend money, it’s a wonderful experience to have. I rather spend my money on people and not things.
actually money can give you happiness but according to your wants and needs depending on how you're going to spend it cause as of now people really need money in order to survive and provide our daily expenses. i agree to your opinion that money can buy anything aside from luxurious things that can give you a temporary happiness but how about spending it with your family and friends which it will give you more happiness than spending it alone.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: how to overcome inflation for the community on: May 12, 2023, 01:34:11 AM
honestly speaking, inflation cannot be solve unless everyone cooperates and do their thing to help the economy along with the full support of the government since change cannot be implemented or done by a single person. what you have listed OP aren't a single bit helpful in terms of inflation since even saving can cause more inflation if it's not done properly. the after effects of pandemic which we are experiencing right now is also the reason for inflation, not until all of this became stabilized before we can start to worry about inflation.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people stay poor? on: May 11, 2023, 09:19:09 AM
To tell you frankly no one wants to stay poor is just that there are so many reasons that affecting why a person is in a poverty level including they have limited access to education, healthcare, and job opportunities, sometimes other people descrimate them because of lack of education. For them to have or achieve having a comfortable life, it is important that they have to build their skills and make a way to have a proper education, to seek employment that they can use their skills. It can also be helpful if they will set a realistic target goals in life so that they would know what they need to do to achieve it.
you're actually right on the mark there my friend. the competition for resources such as education nowadays is really specially in some countries with limited access to those. i myself is currently residing in some difficult country, in order for us to climb the ladder to become financially stable, we have lots of requirements with little to none resources for us to utilize and start, even if we say we needed to think outside of the box to achieve those, it is still hard to find good opportunities. poverty is almost everywhere here in my country, and we know that the government is trying their best to support every jobless citizen we have, but it is still not working since not everyone can acquire jobs. aside from that we are very aware that we cannot always depend on the government and we need to make an effort to appeal or search for wiser options if we wanted to become financially stable.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you survived during covid19 ? on: May 11, 2023, 12:19:04 AM
I don't want to recall what covid brought us as that is the time I lost my job and also hard time finding one because of the covid and not being allowed to go outside. It was a ghost town and you only saw increasing deaths every day and friends got covid. It was the most difficult and frustrating in my life but our government was giving us food to us which make us live after covid when it starts to open I found a job and we start to recover from it. I don't want to recall more on those days as it hurt me a lot and for sure others too
it was so sad but i hope this soon will be gone and we can overcome all problems i know we are all affected in this situation aside to what happened during the pandemic the increasing of deaths but also the inflation rate. we can't depend in our government since they have so many responsibilities but due to pandemic they have to prioritize those who are in needs.
COVID was a horrible time -thank God it is over now - but I still keep social distancing and work from home and avoid unnecessary interaction
it was still necessary since we don't know when or where another mutated strand will come out, and we didn't want those hard times happening again. at that time not only did i suffer heavily for losing a job but also almost all members of my family lost their jobs, thankfully we didn't get sick and we're still lucky enough to find some odd jobs we can work from home so we can sustain ourselves while some of my family members worked although their jobs are skeletal at least it can still help to feed the family. those tragic moments made me realized that it was really beneficial to have side hustles online instead of depending only to a single source of income.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: May 10, 2023, 11:45:41 PM
No investment has assured returns which supports the idea that not all investment would make you rich in an instant. Also, successful investments mostly, suffered from failures for sure no matter how an investor is prepared of it. Some of them had thoughts of giving up. It already takes courage to start an investment so what more of continuing such thing. Risk will always be present and there are variables an investor won't have control of, which could contribute to an investment's downfall. In fact, most of the investors are atleast hoping for a breakeven between asset and expenses simply because negative outcome often occurs. It is okay to have desires or big dream out of something you have started but always manage the risk and expectations 'coz not all things would come as expected.
that is why in investing you must have a strong mentality in making risky decisions because not all in investing has an assurance to make you rich well there are some but we have different fate maybe someday it will happen to you and some of us might have breakdowns too as what you have said things will not come to our way and don't need to expect that much.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still do business with them? on: May 10, 2023, 11:40:37 PM
of course i will still do business with them, the issue about KYC and being a centralized exchange only applies is only risky for me if i were doing some shady things which i refuse others to know. aside from that, the company is trusted and operates diligently. i was even using bittrex way back 2018 to do transactions since there are wide variety of coins i can choose from and it is much easier to transfer coins from my wallet to that exchange compared to other exchanges existed today. it is just sad to hear that bittrex slowly fall out of the competition, but regardless i was still happy doing transactions back then.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving is Wasting? on: May 10, 2023, 10:54:32 PM
Being a student is so hard nowadays. I've been spending a lot for school requirements and different activities related to education. I'm stuck with this saying "SAVING IS WASTING", thinking that with the little amount of money I have, should I put it on an investment or should I just save it for my future expenses or emergencies. I'm also living in a country in which there are limited side hustles I could do to earn extra for investment, so I'm troubled somehow.
i can actually relate to your situation right now but for me you should prioritize first your studies and save money little by little, as we all know there's so many fees in school and we have to pay in order for us to continue our studies. putting your savings in investment is not actually a good idea as a student,  it's up to you taking risk decisions but you should know the possible outcome too.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: with the high transaction fees btc makes me stronger to hold btc. on: May 10, 2023, 10:31:14 PM
I don't see TX fees this high as an advantage or a positive, BTC is a 'free' currency that should be used anyhow the owner wants it. You can hold it for the long term even if TX fees are normal, you don't need high TX fees to do that, but when TX fees are this high you hinder and restrict people who want to spend BTC like a currency that it is, and restricting people from using BTC as a currency is a very big problem. BTC is not only an investment option, and your post makes it feel as if it is only good for that.
although it makes sense to hold BTC as it is another form of store value, bitcoin is initially made to be means to pay for transaction, and if transactions are not made, I agree about you saying that it will hinder the whole ecosystem as what it was designed. as of now it is still not yet healthy for those who are not transferring big amount of money to do transactions since aside from it will only add to the network congestion which makes the transaction pending for several days, people would also be mad if their transaction have high fees even if their process is only a little amount right? the only thing we can do as of now is to be patient and wait for the solution although we knew it will only be temporary but at least it is usable.
9  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: May 10, 2023, 08:50:26 PM
As long as there's a risk involved and it is some kind of prediction, win or lose type of games, then I would always consider it as a form of gambling.
Sometimes even if it's not directly money as long as it have a value and it is being risk then yes it is gambling.
What do you consider the risk to be about if there is no money at stake? Every single game is a win-or-lose type of game, but not every game in the world is a gambling game or should be considered one unless there is something staked on it and I don't see OP mentioning anywhere that there is some requirement for it.

If there is nothing of value at stake, it cannot be considered gambling at all, and risk is only when you have something at stake which you can potentially lose if you don't make a correct prediction.

Well, there what he was able to understand is that there are times when it is scary to place bets with money, but that is normal only at the Beginning, then later that fear is lost, the Important thing is that if you place sports bets you have to be clear that here the greatest Responsibility is on the part of the bettor, because there are only two possibilities in general, and here things must be fully Fulfilled, if you know enough about a sport and if it is considered a fan help, but if it is not, and it is left Carrying by the emcoines or by what the rest says is like doing complemtante gambling.

well, that's because it is on the safer side of gambling without losing anything, but i prefer to call that as just a game for free since you didn't have to risk that much so winning or losing doesn't matter too much and on the brighter side, if ever you won then you will still earn. it's not that we have different perspective on different aspects of this world, but for me every decision you've made are always carrying risk, even if we say that you are playing it safe at the end of the spectrum. i understand that the consequences of losing this time isn't that much heavy compared to when you are actually putting in some amount but a risk is still a risk that's why i just prefer to call it a game than gamble.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: May 10, 2023, 03:08:58 PM
If the person is not willing to admit that there's already a problem with how they manage their gambling activities, expect that there
are worse things to happen, that person needs more attentions to make them realize.

I'm following your point in which the problem will continue and it goes deeper if the person will not address the issue much sooner.

Trying to keep in touch and always reminds the person may give them some hint that their addiction is no longer controllable
and there's already a need to seek for professionals.
That's right, such people should always have someone by their side who can divert their mind whenever they want to gamble and that one person can be a best friend, a spouse, a sibling, or even a parent. The person who is addicted will surely not be able to control the urge themselves but if there is someone available with them to accompany them, that might change their mind.

You can't take an addict out of their addiction simply by saying that they shouldn't do what they are addicted to, but you will need to find ways that can divert their mind and engages them in something else and that might help them gain some control.

Exactly the point, you can't just direct them with words but an action is needed to divert their attentions, if the person is very
close to you, then you must find a good way to divert his attentions,.

Putting him in a place where he can avoid some time playing / gambling and give him some breathing to think the right way, best time to have
some serious conversation and give him some hints that he's already getting engage that much.

A good start to bring him back to reality in life and also to allow him to balance his gambling activities and be reasonable in terms of spending
time and money when playing the game.
usually, instead of playing for fun/entertainment, players take it to the next level and become unreasonably serious about gambling, while i don't really recommend making it as your primary source of income, we cannot deny the fact that there are few people who will do this and a few that changed their lives into something good by playing. sometimes people forget that it was only made for fun and the stress that has been accumulated throughout every game can lead them to something they didn't want to initially such as the things listed by the OP.

i somehow agree with you that one of the best medications for those gamblers is to let them understand that they could no longer regain what they had lost, and if there's a chance they can, it will be all depending on their luck. they should also realize that once they enter the pit they will have a hard time climbing up again, and after telling them that they needed to be slowly separated to that hobby or find another hobby to take up their time slowly just like withdrawal methods for those who are under rehabilitation, but still that depends on the very person if they really wanted to still be able to change their life although things are no longer the same. in the end it is only a matter of how those people can accept the reality they put themselves into.
11  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Gcash Down? Unauthorized Transactions on: May 10, 2023, 02:36:58 PM
For example nung sa phishing link sa pag cash in  punta kayo dito : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5452034.0

12  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Sobrang Taas na Gas Fee today? on: May 10, 2023, 02:08:40 PM
13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Importance of entrepreneur in school curriculum on: May 10, 2023, 01:13:02 PM
But not many schools have given lessons on entrepreneurship and tend to follow what has been done for years. If this is the case, parents should teach entrepreneurship to their children so that they can think more creatively and critically.

We cannot forever depend on the curriculum because we must learn to adapt to the surrounding environment when we leave school. After all, the reality is different from what is taught at school.

By getting lessons at school or home, children can be better prepared to face life when they grow up. And it can educate their independence in trying if they decide to do entrepreneurship.

Yes, I agree with you but not many schools have  giving any lessons entrepreneurship at all. Those children who have such parents who can educate them about enterreneurship at home then well and good but what about those children who doesn't have such environment at home and not getting such curriculum at school as well?
somehow those students that didn't receive such privilege needed to think outside of the box, and what i mean on that is they will have to get those experience and knowledge outside of the box. i'm not saying they are required or forced to do those things but as what i have observed so far, most of those who did what i said were people who have noticed how cruel their reality is, and due to that harsh reality they're facing, they find ways how they can escape that way of living. we all know that it is not only through hard work alone can someone become entreps and improve their way of living, but it is also how they perceive things and be creative to the point where they matured early and use what resources they have in hand to generate income.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you ready to spend crypto when market is down on: May 10, 2023, 10:50:05 AM
I am willing to spend some of my assets if necessary, but even if the market is in a bear market right now, I don't believe it is necessary. As long as I have extra cash, I still need to figure out how to maintain acquiring valuable tokens. If you are a holder, make sure you can keep it for up to three to five years.
first thing that you'll need to consider is if you have an extra money to spend cause even if it's bear market but you don't have any investment, still you will gain nothing to it and aside from that is you don't need to depend all of your assets in crypto as we all know that it's volatile.
15  Economy / Gambling / Re: A way to attract new users or a misunderstanding? on: May 10, 2023, 03:28:49 AM
Yes, I also remember at that time when the Covid-19 pandemic was still very much in an uproar that swept across the world to the point where it actually caused economic and financial inflation where many people lost their jobs and sources of livelihood.
There are many people who have started to twist their minds by looking for income online and they choose to enter the gambling industry with the aim of making more money with small capital.
But unfortunately not all of them are successful because in reality gambling is not for work and gambling is not a place that can easily be made a place of breadwinners.
And since the pandemic until now, more people are starting to enter the gambling industry.
COVID-19 was a difficult moment; many people lost their jobs as a result of the government's massive lockdown; many individuals were rendered jobless, particularly those living in the most afflicted countries. Some turned to online casino and football gambling, betting extra money every day in the hopes of feeding themselves or their families. I've been in that situation before; I know how it feels to be unemployed and to struggle every day just to feed. People are still going through hard circumstances over there, so we shouldn't blame anyone who has become addicted to gambling, all in the name to feed, surviving is winning, if a tight gambler wants to survived, he or she needs to keep constant winning, that's how the whole gambling system works.

It became very difficult for me when the pandemic arrived, I am in a country that is not mine and I had a job that required me to be almost every day, I only had 1 day off, and what I could do was sleep, rest a lot, because sometimes the need to pay for everything is something that has to be immediate, paying rent, buying food is something that will always be for me, so the alternatives were to look for jobs online, do something to support yourself and the other The easiest option was to play in a casino, that was the immediate way out but the most risky, I was tempted to do it but I didn't, I don't know what would have happened to my life depending on my money at that time.

during that pandemic surge in my country, i have a lot of neighbors playing online casino not only for fun but also to earn money since most of them lose their jobs or even if they still have work, the problem is the work system in our country became skeletal, which means there are times you can work and then the next week you'll have to rest the whole week. that was their way to accomodate lots of personnel who still wanted to work and support their families. i was also tempted to play casino but I decided to scour the internet at that time to find more opportunities although i can clearly see that the opportunities are very low and the competition increases tremendously.
16  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Gcash Down? Unauthorized Transactions on: May 10, 2023, 12:07:55 AM
This is not a first time, maraming beses na nangyari ito sa Gcash and with their poor security panigurado mauulit at mauulit pa ito.

Imagine having your crypto on this wallet, panigurado madame ang magpapanic. Better not to put any huge amount of money in gcash, this is not safe at all.

Even banks are having the same problem, if you have savings account for your emergency purposes better not to enroll it online just to avoid this kind of problem, mas ok kung nakapassbook lang. Be safe, and protect your money.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we help to Bitcoin education? on: May 09, 2023, 10:44:42 PM
Misinformation is something that can make someone fail to understand something properly. In fact they should not only be advised to read, but they should also do so from a trusted source that does not attach importance to the author's personal sentiments or opinions. Of course in the end the right information is only found on real sites like bitcoin.org or elsewhere on github, and here they have to filter it.

I'm honestly not a good teacher for anyone with an interest in bitcoin, but if they want to learn about bitcoin then I'd be inclined to recommend a few sites that can help them get the right information. But I can equip them with basic knowledge about bitcoin as a first step to respond to their interest.
Everyone also has to filter and study the information they get themselves, not the other way around immediately receiving and running references to handles. The bitcoin.org and github sites are the most credible sites at the moment, but they also need to be looked at, so that the information can be applied according to the needs of the reader. It's difficult to convince people to respond positively to bitcoin, unless they have basic knowledge and previous experience with bitcoin.

Until now I have not been able to convince people around me to invest, even though they often interact and often have discussions every day, so I decided not to become a bitcoin guru for other people. When they have basic knowledge it will be easy for them to respond and receive information from us, this is the reason that keeps me from trying to convince others when they are not ready to accept bitcoin as an investment.
that's true. what's important right now is to spread awareness, not to force people to invest. right now, social medias and other platforms used to promote advertisements are already doing their jobs to spread awareness to people by introducing new exchanges, offering new products locally, and even slowly adding crypto into their locally provided e-wallets. now what we are tasked to do is to cater questions and answer them as best as possible in the most simple way without us looking like we are trying to seduce people into investing without us being so forceful. let's just wait for the moment since we are also aware that people are slowly being aware about bitcoin's existence.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase profit in business on: May 09, 2023, 03:27:46 PM
Too many customers obviously won't increase your profit, and if you're selling things at a loss to them, I don't think that's a good way to attract more customers. Instead, treat your customers well and stock your store with a variety of goods so they can make the perfect choice when they visit. As you mentioned, treating your customers like kings is another great way to boost your revenue because they'll notice when things are going well in your store.
by providing a high quality of service and also food you provide  can surely attract more customers especially when give them satisfaction of what they really want, the consumers will always come back when you treat them right and make them feel welcome as your regular customer and that's the time they will give feedbacks which it will give a very big impact for your establishment to be well-known.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering requirements for withdraw on: May 09, 2023, 09:54:39 AM

It's pretty common indeed but you need to keep doing your part in terms of reading the terms and condition to make sure you'll be able to maximize the uses of the gambling site you pick to play your game, with proper understanding of the requirements you will not be surprise if something is needed to implement since you do your part reading and understanding what is being said.

Accepting the requirements means that you are willing to follow whatever the house is implementing, for you to be able to transfer your money or for you to manage to take advantages of any offers that the house is offering.

this is a pretty common mistake which even veteran gamblers still suffer. we all know that carelessness isn't the main reason why people sometimes overlook about this rules and regulations, sometimes being excited to try something new out of pressure from other people can also overlook this rules, and much more common reason is due to laziness. also there's this rules that are not specially highlighted in order to confuse bettors, which are commonly seen on shady gambling sites or newly created ones without future plans and just existed solely to rob money for those who wanted entertainment. this is usually what happened in my country, there have been many issues like losing their money inside their e-wallets (our locally provided e-wallet) after linking their accounts to new gambling site. due to so many influences like social media influencers promoting, people claiming they won a lot and actually claimed their prizes and the fact that you can gamble with only small amount is the trigger why most of my fellow acquiantances ignore their security in exchange of money. to be honest it is sad and at the same time it's destroying the image of gambling which can lead to the future banning of all online casinos in our country, but most of the fault is on their users for not securing themselves.
