1  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: November 02, 2019, 03:16:59 AM
I wonder what will happen when Chipmixer gets (inevitably so) hit by authorities. Those damn cops hate mixing services it seems.. more and more keep going down. It will be a sig campaign apocalypse. The rest of the campaign's rates are a joke and last a couple of weeks at best.
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What made satoshi go for sha256? on: September 11, 2019, 11:34:23 PM
Out of all possible options at the time, why did he go for sha256 given its ties to NIST/NSA?

How come I never see chipmixer signatures on the gambling section? I've run mixing gigs in the past, most of the traffic came from gambling related activity. I wonder what sort of asset you see on super niche local boards above that. Waste of money IMO.

There's also some people that could be replaced by some of the new applicants which are better posters.

Not that your post deserves a reply but.. legitimacy and integrity goes far beyond traffic and the members that are taking part in this, the most coveted campaign, has all of the reputation that you could possibly want to represent your brand.

How about hiring someone with legitimacy and integrity that posts on a relevant board like the gambling section? not everyone is a spammer there, there are good posts, and people will actually click on your banner to mix coins.

Gambling board is a spam board, imo. Nobody reads anything there (but Google), just post. Like altcoin board.

You won't find high quality posts there. Just megathreads with 40 pages.

I believe that the members that are promoting chipmixer are doing a very good job. So many knowledged and trusted members of the community promoting a service makes that service looks reliable.

I would really like to join this campaign and I think I am as good posters as most members here, I don't  think it is fair to replace old members because someone looks a better poster (I would not like if that happened to me). This idea of "better" depends on the time a person has available, the boards hgoes, and it is very difficult to measure. Some boards lack merits, while others you can easily farm them, so merit is not a good metric.

There's good posters on the gambling section believe it or not, some good bookers and insight here and generally well written posts. Just because you post there, it doesn't mean you can't be a good overall poster.

It's ironic that you are wearing that sig which basically is viable due gamblers clicking on it.

It's called fractional reserve and has been happening for years since we ever departed from a gold standard. Welcome to the post Nixon era.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How are you supposed to keep your wallet.dat safe from physical attackers? on: June 27, 2019, 11:24:22 AM
Either from robbers, or from governments?

A thief will torture you until you give away your password. Governments will put you in jail indefinitely, and they will become increasingly tyrannical about it. Just look at how how many people are getting busted in LocalBitcoins. If you for instance bought bitcoin in exchange of cash in LocalBitcoins and then sold it on some exchange for fiat, you are now on a possible list of people that will receive a knock on their door. Pretty much any bitcoin -> fiat or viceversa operations are subject to possible audits which may reveal your total stack as they look inside your computer. Once they find your wallet.dat you are in trouble. It's better to plan ahead, so what are you doing about it?

I don't see a solution. As long as you have to keep a file (wallet.dat) you are at risk. You could consider taking the Electrum route and sending all of your BTC inside an Electrum wallet and memorize the seed so a file doesn't exist, however, how safe is this? Keeping all of your current and future addresses on there doesn't seem too sound. It is possible that if someone subtracts the necessary info key derivation could be exploited.

So wallet.dat is the safest, yet, the most annoying to keep safe, as you need to keep a physical medium to store it offline, and you need the synced node to transact as well.

Electrum bypasses this but it's not as safe as the wallet.dat model.

What can be done?

Now that we've crossed the $9,000 barrier, why not take a look at the McAfee model again:

Assuming another %600-ish parabolic increase, it would put us around $65,000, which would mean McAfee may not have to heat his own dick as the model would be back on track. Consider that we went above %245 of the mean prediction line at the $20k peak, so there's a big margin of error. If moon and stars align (or ETF and halving) who knows. We'll have to find out in the next episode of McAfee Balls Z.

Edit: Actually funny how we just broke the nonlinear regression curve and given past precedents, the potential for a bullrun is around $60k

Maybe McAfee can keep his manhood after all. Hang on tight.

In addition to this, I want to add that Shelby is lately considering McAfee's model as a potential good candidate for 2020's price prediction, and it would look like this:

I can't imagine how this thread would look like if McAfee ends up being anywhere near right. Bitcointalk would probably collapse due too much traffic.

Awesome. Where can I find the source for the first pic?

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.

After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.

Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

The orange is obvious plagiarism, however sentences like "Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill." are generic and with 1,000s of results on google. I hope the bot is not smoking people for that otherwise it will eventually backfire.

I edited the post with this:

Edit: I didn't realize that the signature is not shown on every post, so there's nothing to discuss here anymore. I still believe people should be given second chances, specially when the mistakes were made ages ago and currently some of the banned people were better posters than people currently being on highly respected campaigns such as chipmixer.

If someone is trolling the one who got signature ban then its completely okay to be in my opinion because it is not going to hurt them personally and this can be the best punishment for their mistake which was done yesterday or few years back.

Some of the banned people has contributed better content than you do. So no, it's not completely okay to bash them because they did a mistake years ago, specially not someone like you, give me a fucking break.
10  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 19, 2019, 01:32:35 AM

They were good advertisers up until someone digged posts from 5 years ago to report them. Now im afraid a year from now when the ban is gone, no one is going to hire them because of that instead of giving them a fair chance.

This whole mentality around 'we were good advertisers' is just wrong.

No care about adding value to the forum, no care about actually engaging on blockchain or any topic - just 'we were good advertisers'. As if bitcointalk should be a spam platform.

If you have a signature, that's a bonus. Your ability to 'advertise' is not the primary purpose of this forum.

The fact that you think being able to advertise actually counts as an argument speaks volumes of your attitude to this forum, and probably your respect and knowledge for cryptocurrency more broadly.

By good advertisers I mean good posters in general, not "good salesmen". Some of the banned people with 5+ years of experience had a better knowledge of Bitcoin than you do so calm down.

I obviously don't mean that someone should me making a living in here. My point was in general a society: If you don't give second chances, you are ostracizing them into stealing to survive.
12  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 18, 2019, 10:43:31 PM
I see the message as a warning to anyone who will potentially consider paying for advertising in the future that the person may not be someone who will be the most effective advertiser.

They were good advertisers up until someone digged posts from 5 years ago to report them. Now im afraid a year from now when the ban is gone, no one is going to hire them because of that instead of giving them a fair chance.
Like I said, what they did is very similar to stealing money (from advertisers) when they believe no one was looking.

I am not sure this is something I would want associated with my business. It is also an added risk because these people have shown themselves willing to try to obtain money under false pretenses.

Many of the reported posts weren't even part of a sig campaign. Just accounts trying to rank activity.

The main point here is, they were doing a good job. If everyone had your mentality ("let's not hire this guy ever again because he did something wrong in the past, even if he was doing a good job now"), everyone that did something wrong in the past would remain unemployable, the end result being a collapsing society thus one would be forced to steal since you have to eat.

They just have to learn how to ignore does type of replies or make use of the ignore button if they noticed same reply from a particular user and they feel offended by those comments. You can't stop people from acting childish, Irrespective of whether you're wearing a signature, not wearing one or wearing the sig banned message, if trolls or whatever they call themselves wants to attack you they'll.

The sig banned message is passing a loud message to who ever sees it. You commit plagiarism, you get punished so I don't support the idea of removing it.

Then we will not know who really wants to keep posting without getting paid and who doesn't, since the lack of motivation to post while wearing that signature is understandable. So you can't have mods stating how people became inactive due not getting paid. This would be the case if you had a neutral (blank) signature.
15  Other / Meta / Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 18, 2019, 07:08:27 PM
If someone had a 1+ year of straight good posting history to get a pass, why not just leave the signature blocked with a blank space? I would say it's not too motivating to post while people bully you around and make witty remarks about you being a fraud because you did something wrong 5 years ago. Way to disincentive good posters from posting for the duration of the ban. They will probably leave until the ban is gone not because they don't want to post but because you are carrying that sign which can be used by people to attack you instead of addressing the post (typical in discussions in which someone doesn't agree with you and just use something else that isn't part of the point, like a grammar mistake or physical defect etc...). Just leave it blank IMO... otherwise as I said, I predict the people that get a pass aren't going to bother with participating on the forum.

Edit: I didn't realize that the signature is not shown on every post, so there's nothing to discuss here anymore. I still believe people should be given second chances, specially when the mistakes were made ages ago and currently some of the banned people were better posters than people currently being on highly respected campaigns such as chipmixer.
16  Other / Meta / Any managers lost good posters due recent mass ban? on: May 16, 2019, 08:06:49 PM
I have lost good Hero and Legendary posters on my list because they copypasted something years ago and it seems they cannot join again for a year. Now im having a hard time picking up experienced posters. Most Legendaries aren't even that active anymore since they are probably rich from bitcoin. They are the ones that have been here through all the hard forks and know how things work. This has been a mistake. If it happened more than 1 or 2 years ago and it wasn't much I wouldn't kick them out of the campaign if they were doing a good job. It should be the managers doing the casting and evaluating case by case. It feels like the state is telling me who I can hire or not.
17  Other / Meta / Re: The current permaban situation is ridiculous on: May 16, 2019, 03:34:20 AM
I see good posters being permabanned because of this, while the actual scammers/super spammers are all over the place.

The main reason this doesn't make sense is that someone with an established Hero+ account that did something wrong years ago is NOT going to risk doing anything stupid ever again and has probably learned enough stuff to produce decent posts. Banning old members from stuff done years ago is an obvious net loss. Someone that was bright enough to come here years ago when bitcoin wasn't mainstream has learned and probably has good things to offer. Everyone coming in now are just jumping on the bandwaggon.
I wouldn't even bother with signature permabans. Who cares if they are producing good content? just ban the people that are cluttering the forum with nonsense, as readers we don't give a toss if someone copy-pasted two lines 3 years ago when they were noobs if they have been doing it right since then.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Ban Period is key in case you get Perma-Ban Lifted. Don't Burst Meta! on: May 16, 2019, 03:18:41 AM
It depends. If the wrongdoings were done years ago and the poster has 1+ year of straight good content, they shoudn't even be banned at all, let alone permabanned.

Too many good posters gone now because of things done years ago.
What has this solved? Experienced people gone while all the shitposters are still all over the forums. It's a net loss.

A much needed correction, nothing out of ordinary price action.

BCH is another scamcoin, wouldn't hold it for long!
