When recovering the aeon wallet from the Mnemonic Seed, is it still done like this?

Quote
Go to the folder containing simplewallet and run "./simplewallet --restore-deterministic-wallet", entering your mnemonic seed when prompted. NOTE that this will simply restore your wallet keys. You will still need to scan a blockchain (either your local blockchain or a remote blockchain) to see your balance and make transactions.

havent tried it yet myself since there was never a need, but would be good to know in case

Should add an Aeon tips page to your site

Yeah had that in mind but want to verify first, that this is the common practice to retreive a wallet from seed before making it public

I'm pretty sure that's the correct way. I thought it's one of the most basic information for Aeon users, so I'm surprised that hiddenjadestone hasn't covered it already.

@smooth    Would you please join our discord channel for AEON COIN, we are growing and want to be official. I am the admin and have over 350 members currently. Thanks

Is this not official group of Aeon?  Huh

I thought it was and joined the group  Lips sealed

Its definitly NOT the official group of aeon. Its a discord channel created by aeon_king.
There is no need for aeon to have a discord chat at the moment. it would be only a waste of time for smooth to be there. because people would expect from him to chatter there all day long so the pump/dump people have material to speculate on the price.

Oops, thank you for your information... What a spammer guy  Angry

The current official communication channels are afaik:

- this bitcointalk forum
- freenode #aeon (you can use a free irc webclient like: https://kiwiirc.com/client)
- Monero/AEON slack
- Reddit /r/Aeon/

Why would we use discord if we have already freenode channel that is sufficient:)
just my two sats

Note that the IRC and Slack channels are relayed, so you can choose whichever you like. I'd recommend IRC though because you have more tools to play with such as the tipbot.

If anyone hasn't posted in the signed btc address thread do so now before this happens to you!

Great advice! Thanks for turning me onto this. I just posted over there myself just now. Here is link for anyone else.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318

Isn't there a way to do this exact thing with a Monero wallet?  Why sign a message from a wallet that you wouldn't want to put any BTC in in order to not display how much BTC you currently are in possession of?

@Anon136 Thanks for providing the link, good to be well prepared for a future hacking.

@phishead We do have a similar feature for signing any file using your spend secret key. In the CLI:
Code:
[wallet 44T***]: sign message.txt
Wallet password: ***************
SigV1WuryRqktYHCX4o5iyU9VYqWWhRYroT69VBxaGR3DniHQN9vjvibJDQ6hhDiVehWqyzK8ZnZjNm3gpe5yYZNJTznJ
[wallet 44T***]: verify message.txt 44T*** SigV1WuryRqktYHCX4o5iyU9VYqWWhRYroT69VBxaGR3DniHQN9vjvibJDQ6hhDiVehWqyzK8ZnZjNm3gpe5yYZNJTznJ
Good signature from 44T***

This feature is also available in the GUI.

Whether this method is accepted by the BitcoinTalk admins for restoring an account is another question, though.

Hello everyone! aeond.exe begins to download the entire blockchain in computer memory. Is this how it should be?

Yes, and therefore your computer needs to have enough RAM (at least 6~8GB). This problem will be solved in the near future when the underlying database technology gets replaced.

You can type 'save' in the console and it will save the current downloaded portion to disk and release the memory.

I don't think aeond releases the memory after the 'save' command; it just saves the blockchain to the disc.

I ask again: who is the escrow custodian of the exorbitant amount of premined coins? Please post it on here along with his/her profile, reputation and relationship to the principals of this cryptocurrency.

It is a reasonable request and in the spirit of proper disclosure. Perhaps the fanatics of and the shills for this coin who always present themselves on here as very knowledgeable could provide this information for the sake of everybody involved in Sumokoin. Please refrain from emotionalism when replying as that usually dilutes credibility of one's argument. Just objectivity and the facts, please. Also, this is an open public forum so both yeas and nays have equal opportunity to express themselves on here.

Premine is a scam, and there can never be any legit explanation for it. The Sumokoin devs have successfully convinced people that they aren't scamming, while people have happily signed up for the premine (=scam). They deserve the financial loss that is due in the future, and nothing can be done to prevent it. Looking at Bytecoin, I'm baffled that such a thing still exists and maintains a huge market cap. Sumokoin is no different. You and some other sensible people have occasionally come over here to warn people, which is very generous, but ultimately it's no use.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: October 13, 2017, 12:29:06 AM
I have a problem here -- I tried to send a large amount of Monero from my GUI wallet to Bittrex. The Monero never arrived and I see that the GUI wallet still has "Block height: PENDING" after 6 hours.

So, following advice I found via Google, I deleted all my wallet files except the .keys file and reopened the wallet. As expected, it scanned the blockchain (doesn't take nearly as long as with the prior version, is this expected?). Voila, all my Monero are back in the wallet and the pending transaction isn't there.

So I tried to resend the transaction to Bittrex and the transaction fails with the error message "double spend".

Any idea what is going on here? Thanks!

Probably your previous failed transaction is still sitting in your daemon's tx pool which causes the daemon to think you're trying to double spend your coins. Do "flush_txpool" in monerod and try again, now the "double spend" error should go away.

Still no windows wallet gui after 3 years?

There have been but they've not been consistently maintained. This is a community-based project, so if people don't come forward with an interest in doing something it doesn't get done. Bounties are possible. After the rebase adapting the Monero GUI will be an option.
Hi i have issue my old wallet is not opened, its cmd outpubt:

aeon wallet v0.9.14.0()
Specify wallet file name (e.g., wallet.bin). If the wallet doesn't exist, it wil
l be created.
Wallet file name: mywallet
password: ******
Error: failed to load wallet: failed to read file "mywallet"

my pass and wallet name true i use it for 0.9.13 and its worked

does it still work with 0.9.13 ?
0.9.14 windows binary from stoffu, available on appveyor was built with boost 1.63 and 0.9.13 official was using boost 1.64.
when you're using a different version of boost library, sometimes this problem occurs.

to recover your wallet, delete the name_of_your_wallet file (it's a cache of your wallet history) and keep the name_of_your_wallet.keys file, simplewallet will regenerate your wallet history from scratch.
warning: the .keys file is the most important file, without it you lost your wallet!

Thanks Arux for pointing out the cause of the problem I was overlooking! I've rebuilt the 0.9.14 Windows binary with Boost 1.64 and Visual Studio 2017:

Please what did you do for your aeon withdrawal to be processed, mine has been stuck for 2days now. and support doesnt seem to be responding to tickets. Please help me.

Withdrawals from Bittrex have always been successful for me in the last few days. Do you see in the withdrawal history the destination address correctly specified, and the txid? If you can’t find the txid in MinerGate’s block explorer, then this seems like an error on Bittrex’s side.

I have and still am involved in pure community coins with no funding and development is excruciatingly slow. Which leads me to believe some form of funding helps progress along and you nor i are getting any younger. So the quicker the better imho.

You must be joking. Look at the commit logs of Monero, Aeon and Sumokoin:

Can you tell which coin is the least active?

Monero which is purely community funded without any scammy premine is making extremely rapid progresses every day non stop. This is simply because no open-source developers (myself included) are interested in Sumokoin which is to them clearly a scam. Granted that Aeon's activity is much smaller than Monero's, but this is reasonable given the current circumstance. Smooth (Aeon's core dev, also part of Monero Core Team) also recommends developers to contribute to Monero for now until the rebase is done. And even then, Aeon's developer base and activity are much bigger than Sumokoin.

By the way, Aeon has a huge development fund of 400k (roughly equivalent to $1M) which were all donated from the community unlike Sumokoin's scam premine.

Optional enhancement update Phoenix (0.9.14.0)

This optional enhancement release adds one new feature and one feature from upstream (Monero). The release is fully compatible and contains no significant bug fixes. As such the previous daemon and/or wallet can be used interchangeably with this one if the new features are not needed.

The --restricted-rpc daemon option (ported from Monero by LesPristy) disables some unsafe RPC requests for use with public nodes

The --fee-multiplier simplewallet option increases all fees by a factor of 1 (default; unchanged) to 100 (recommended: 2 or 3). This can assist in getting urgent transactions confirmed when there is a tx pool backlog. May also be used when creating mixin 0 transactions to bid for the one available tx slot per block (a 0 mixin with a fee multiplier of 2 may still be less expensive and/or confirm faster than a mixin 2 with a fee multiplier of 1, depending not the details of the transaction and network conditions).

Additional changes:
README cleanup (xmr-eric)
Fix for incorrect hash rate displayed by daemon diff command
Added instructions for manual cmake to README

SUMO is a SCAM. Buy AEON instead.

Stop saying bullshit. Aeon is a ghost project.

A pump and dump altcoin. that's all. I will never invest in something so rotten.

Sumokoin is a real project, with a great development team, and a real community. It's just the beginning but it's already much more dynamic than AEON!

So if it's for bullshit, no need to come back here!

+1

+1

Sumokoin is a scam because of the premine. Period.

Hello,

Here is modified version of my monero-stratum for Aeon: https://github.com/sammy007/monero-stratum/tree/aeon

This is personal solo mining stratum for your farm, you only need it if your daily pool payouts are equal to amount of several blocks rewards or you are mining for fun (don't care about big variance hits).

Why solo mining is necessary you can read in my old post https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@sammy007/solo-mining-monero-for-fun-and-for-the-greater-good

The installation instructions are pretty straight forward if you will follow README.

PS: I didn't perform full test on testnet and obviously I have no hashrate to test it on mainnet, so please if you are tech savvy do it and let me know if blocks are accepted correctly. I am 99.99% sure it's ok, because it's a port of already well-tested monero-stratum.

Good luck.

Just installed this - miners connect OK and shares get sent OK - just two problems:

1. I can't get into the web interface even though it prompts me for a username/password
2. I get an error about being unable to get a new block template.

Anyone have any ideas?

1. You need to have the "www" folder in the current path in order to render the web interface.
2. I'm not sure about that, maybe sammy007 can answer? What is the error message exactly?
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-09-30: update to 0.9.13.0] on: October 05, 2017, 08:28:26 AM
I see this:

    }, {
      "key": {
        "amount": 20000000000,
        "key_offsets": [ 156419, 2238

    }, {

OK, so the tx somehow wasn't relayed from your node to the network. You can clear the current tx pool state by stopping the daemon, deleting poolstate.bin in Aeon's blockchain folder (~/.aeon/ on *nix systems, C:\ProgramData\aeon\ on Windows) and starting the daemon again. Also probably you'll need to delete the wallet cache file (the file without .keys extension) and opening the .keys file again with simplewallet which will reconstruct the wallet cache file. You'll see your funds used in the failed transaction back to your balance, and you can try sending them again.

Make sure that your network connection is stable when sending money.

I have a problem with sending coins from my wallet (0.9.13.0) to Bittrex. Yesterday I was sent 1 coin just for test and that was fine. Now I try to send all funds from wallet, around 5000, but deamon did not want to send them, oversize or some similar message. Ok, than I try to send 1356 aeons i deamon accept that but with some fee and I think 16 transactions, something about spliting. I was accept this, aeons are sent but did not arrive at the address.
I tried to see in blockchain what is happening, but whoever enter blockshain does not find anything.
Example:
2017-Oct-05 00:57:00.660408 Transaction successfully sent. <<b239b97c75329e356e78cd7d0b464bb6cf47727a46574212a26256e42e7dbea7>>
Commission: 0.017500000000 (dust: 0.007500000000)
Balance: 5243.353261970000
Unlocked: 5241.275761970000
Please, wait for confirmation for your balance to be unlocked.

What happened if there was a chance to fix it??  Where are my aeons? Sad

The txid <b239b97c75329e356e78cd7d0b464bb6cf47727a46574212a26256e42e7dbea7> isn't found on my daemon as well as on MinerGate's explorer, so perhaps it wasn't properly relayed. What do you see when you type the following command in your aeond?
Code:
print_tx b239b97c75329e356e78cd7d0b464bb6cf47727a46574212a26256e42e7dbea7
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 05, 2017, 03:00:44 AM
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that if aeon is to be XMR Lite then there should be more overlap in the XMR/Aeon usage and mining ecosystems? i.e. single wallet, single miner etc that can do both?

Quite a lot of mining software already support AEON, since modifications to the original CryptoNight algorithm are trivial (i.e. the memory buffer size and the loop iteration count). Here are some examples:

159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-09-30: update to 0.9.13.0] on: October 04, 2017, 04:39:16 AM
when testnet release? this week?

Smooth expects the testnet release this week, but still not a promise. Stay tuned.

Maintenance update release (0.9.13.0) and development update

This is being offered as an interim solution as the process of transitioning to the new (LMDB-based) daemon implementation proceeds. We have decided on a staged release for the new daemon, beginning with a new AEON testnet release expected next week. Following and after reviewing public community experience with the testnet we will be scheduling a planned hard fork to transition the main net to the new daemon.

smooth when they open the wallet bittrex
Obviously, smooth isn't the owner of Bittrex and thus has no control over when they unlock their wallet. Stop whining.
