I want to see what kind of response this gets...
When I was a newbie not so long ago, this board was kinda huge, and I really joined initially because I had a specific question to ask. I understand the use of the newbie forum, but I ask this: Wouldn't it be better if newbies had sub forums? Not too many, but like a General, Mining, and Economy. So people could post their questions, feeling free of being judged for being a newbie, and those who answer the questions would know they are dealing with newbies...
Idk its just my 2 satoshi's. What do you guys think? You're the newbies, after all.

Yeah, I'm just glad BTC is starting to receive an unbiased story. Silk Road and the kind tainted the name in the beginning, as most the general public saw it as just an anonymous currency. Now that the press have started to cover it, and more and more legit shops are starting to accept Bitcoin, the general public seem more willing to try it out. It surely is the start of something awesome.

With everyone bitching about the price I think I want to add my two cents. The only feasible way the price is going to drop is if no one buys these, for a while. But because we all want these so bad, there are going to be some of us who are going to drop the 2BTC on them. Especially for those of us who bought into BTC when it was cheap. As long as there is demand at the current price, it shouldn't drop too much. The company can simply substitute with more mining... So in the end, the price will probably not be dropping until another company creates a similar one... But until then, I'm just gonna look at these pictures and wish I had a fatter wallet.

This looks awesome, can't wait to get my hands on it! 2BTC might be a bit of a high price, what with the recent shipping of BFL... At a lower price I would be more inclined to actually give these to friends, get them to start mining.

I theorise that the price of BTC will remain stable around 100 USD for some time, unless something really big happens. While yes, some BFL have shipped, they are nowhere near meeting their orders. I think the next big change will only be then, until that point, the price should remain fairly stable.
Note: This is all my personal opinion. You may have your own and it may be different. I don't care.

Just figured out the problem, I just had to send my miners to localhost:8332..... Well now I feel stupid. But I shall leave this thread up for any newbies like myself with the same issue!

Now some people have been telling me that all is working well. But if that is the case, then why can't I get my miners to get onto the Stratum proxy... I am using stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 As always, thanks in advance for your help! |

Hey guys, I set up a Stratum proxy towards the beginning of this whole whoohaa, but I am having some issues. This is what is being spit out at me, either that or the one after, but any miner I try to use still can't connect using Stratum. It can, however, use the old GetWork protocol. If anyone has any tips or advice, please... I don't want to be paying an extra 8%...

I can connect via the getwork protocol (api.bitcon.cz:8332), but I can't on the stratum (stratum.bitcon.cz:3333)
Can someone help me? Cause no matter what I do, nothing seems to work...
