1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Send and receive, trade on DEX and lease your tokens using WAVES Liteclient. on: May 04, 2017, 08:38:32 PM
Is it possible to mine Waves without a balance?

You do not mine , if you have your own Node you can forge the transactions of the platform.More waves on your wallet-node means more possible blocks to forge and more TX to receive.
You will need a minimum of 10000 waves to run it.
Hope that helps.

Yes that helps a lot, thanks Smiley.

This looks like a very promising project, and Sasha seems to be making a lot of progress. Hopefully this will get listed on Poloniex sometime soon too.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Gnosis Tokens Double in Value After Exchange Debut on: May 03, 2017, 03:04:38 AM
Absolutely ridiculous.

It is a strong project with a capable team, but no one can justify valuating it at over $600M market cap when there is no finished product at all. This is more evidence of a bubble in ICO and altcoins. It reminds me of the ridiculous valuation people give Tesla even though their fundamentals are absolute garbage and price is based on ridiculous speculation.

Overall: Good project, but horrible coin distribution and valuation.

A bubble is when the market overvalues an asset and there is a frenzy. If there is market manipulation, you can't call it a bubble.
People who invest in such projects are taking a huge risk.

This is not market manipulation, it is clearly an overvaluation which by your own words is a bubble. When people bought at said price during the ICO, and higher prices now, they are personally valuating it as such prices. This is not manipulation, it is a bubble.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Different programming languages for smart contracts on: May 02, 2017, 04:57:25 AM
I have no experience in programming but something that interests me is the various projects aiming to replicate the success of Ethereum, but using different programming languages for their smart contracts.

  • Ethereum uses Solidity.
  • Lisk uses Javascript
  • Stratis uses C#
  • Wavesplatform will use some non-Turing complete language not yet specified (?)

From this list, could someone explain why one language is better than others for smart contracts? Or perhaps what benefits using each language would give?

Anything to explain to a newbie like me would be much appeciated
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PoSW may be the rare opportunity to get rich by entering early on a coin on: May 01, 2017, 09:42:36 PM
I was gonna go in but holy shit, then I saw the site. Tux Exchange 2.0 man.

It's the most unintuitive, and garbage tier site, and the founder is supposed to be a backend god?
I've done a month of PHP and I could come up with something better.

You better get out of this shit, once traffic switches to Polo POSW is done.

If these people are so blinded by greed that they can't see an obvious shitcoin for what it is, then let them throw their money away. It will serve as a valuable life lesson.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will the bubble pop?? on: April 29, 2017, 11:52:35 PM
I think the main driver behind this bubble is Ethereum's enormous and rapid growth, so the bubble will probably pop either when some bad news about Ethereum comes out, or people begin to take their profits and demand dwindles. Whichever comes first. This is pure speculation though  Roll Eyes
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: About Ripple Xrp on: April 29, 2017, 09:47:37 PM
Here's a few reasons why you should NOT invest in XRP:

1. RippleLabs owns vast majority of XRP and has said they will dump it strategically in order to create a stable price. So if it begins to "moon" you can expect a large amount to be dumped by RippleLabs.

2. Billions are also owned by the original Dev who is allowed to dump 0.5% of trading volume per day. Looking at price history we see every spike is followed by a slow and steady decline to original price. This is because RippleLabs and Founder are dumping XRP.

3. The tech that RippleLabs is working on with banks has NOTHING to do with XRP. Ripple has two different functions, and XRP is used by smaller organizations who don't have the resources banks do. Even if Ripple experiences mass adoption by banks, there is no guarantee this will translate into demand for XRP.

It is a bad investment imo.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Vslice Token Predictions on: April 29, 2017, 09:33:26 PM
If you think the flippening will happen, and ethereum will overtake BTC as the primary currency, then vSlice is a no brainer investment since gambling will naturally migrate to ether based platforms.

That said, the current price is over valued. vDice has no where near enough revenue to justify this price for vSlice (yet). I'd wait until a market correction before investing.

This coin has been shilled constantly on /biz/ and I see no reason why it would be worth $1+.

Firstly, the site itself is very poorly designed and barely functional as an exchange. There are dozens of alternative exchanges which are better designed. Why would you use POSW which clearly has inexperienced anonymous developers when you could use a reputable trusted exchange instead?

The *only* benefits to using PoSWallet is the dividends and staking. Staking can be done elsewhere so this is not a real benefit, and certainly does not justify trusting your money in a poorly designed site which likely has all sorts of security flaws. As for the dividends, the pay outs are minimal and again are not worth the risk of a hack or scam.

In short this token is garbage as the exchange is run by inexperienced devs who, instead of working to improve their site, decide to shill on Bitcointalk and /biz/ instead. They do this because they are former BitBeaners who are looking for an easy Pump n Dump scam and not an actual long term project.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves Coin on: April 29, 2017, 04:30:31 AM
I stayed away from the ICO as I didn't have money to invest at the time, but I think there is definitely potential for WAVES to moon. It has a long way to go before it becomes fully functional though, so time will tell. All in all I think investing $0.50 for something that could very realistically reach $10+ is worth considering.
